The flux-E_p relation within GRB060218 in comparison with typical GRB pulses显示文摘The prompt gamma-ray/X-ray emission of gamma-ray burst(GRB) 060218 was simultaneously observed by the Burst Alert Telescope(BAT) and X-ray Telescope(XRT) onboard Swift. Its peak energy of the joint νfν spectrum(Ep) clearly evolves with time from tens of keV to-1 keV,crossing both the BAT and XRT bands. The best fit yields log Ep=(4.61± 0.23)+(-1.29±0.08) log t,with a correlation coefficient of 0.98 and a chance probability of p<10-4.We derive its bolometric flux(F)in the 0.01-10 4 keV band, and find that its F-Ep relation, with a power-law index of 0.37,is much shallower than that observed in typical GRB pulses.Discussion of this shallowness is presented.DONG Wei,LIANG EnWei & LU RuiJing Physical Science & Technology College,Guangxi University,Nanning 530004,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,S1:3
Gamma-ray bursts in the Swift-Fermi era:Confronting data with theory显示文摘With the prompt slewing capability of the X-ray and UV-optical telescopes onboard the Swift mission and with the gamma-ray large area telescope onboard the Fermi mission,gamma-ray bursts(GRBs) are now accessible in a full time window and in all electromagnetic wavelengths for the events. Many observational breakthroughs have been made in recent years.I present here a brief review of some observational breakthroughs with the two missions, focusing on how these breakthroughs have revolutionized our understanding of the nature of this phenomenon and puzzles as well as challenges of confronting the conventional models with data.LIANG EnWei Physical Science & Technology College,Guangxi University,Nanning 530004,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,S1:3
Correlation between pulse-width and peak luminosity of single-pulse long gamma-ray bursts显示文摘With a sample of 21 single-pulse GRBs with redshift measurement and a sample of 65 single-pulse GRBs with pseudo redshift estimated by the luminosity-spectral lag relation,we show that the peak luminosities of GRB pulses are anti-correlated with pulse width, indicating that longer-pulses tend to be dimmer in the gamma-ray band. The anti-correlation is accessible with an internal shock scenario.DENG JiaGan & LIANG EnWei Department of Physics,Guangxi University,Nanning 530004,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,S1:2
Spectral properties of Fermi/GBM gamma-ray bursts and the GeV emission detection rate with Fermi/LAT显示文摘With a sample of 58 Fermi/GBM GRBs detected before 2009 May,we compare the spectral properties of GBM GRBs with those detected by CGRO/BTASE and HETE-2.Our results show that the spectral index distributions are very consistent with those observed by BATSE.However, the Ep distribution is quite different from that observed with BATSE and HETE-2.The GBM GRBs tend to be softer than the BATSE sample, but harder than the HETE-2 sample. This may be due to the instrumental selection effects and artificial sample effect on the BATSE sample. The distribution of the pseudo redshifts derived from the luminosity indicator based on the Amati-relation shows rough consistency with the spectroscopic redshifts of Swift GRBs.We estimate the detection rate of GBM GRBs with LAT based on the observed spectrum in the GBM band, and the inferred burst ratio of LAT detection with over 5 photons to GBM detection is 6%,yielding a detection rate pf 12 GRBs/yr with over 5 photons in the 1-300 GeV band. This is roughly consistent with the results in the first half year of Fermi operation. The low detection rate compared with theoretical predictions is a key for revealing the radiation mechanisms and particle acceleration of the prompt gamma-rays.LV HouJun,LIANG EnWei & TONG XiaoFeng Department of Physics,Guangxi University,Nanning 530004,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,S1:2

Luminosity-peak energy relation in the decay phases of gamma-ray burst pulses显示文摘Using time-resolved spectral data for a sample of 30 pulses in 27 bright GRBs detected with CGRO/BATSE, we investigate the luminosity-peak energy relation (L-E p relation) in the decay phases of these pulses. A tight L-E p relation is found for most of the pulses, but its power law index is various among pulses, which is normally distributed at 1.84±0.60(1σ) for the pulses in our sample, roughly consistent with the L-E p relation within a GRB and the isotropic gamma-ray energy-E p relation among GRBs. The large scatter of the power law index cannot be explained with both the statistical or observational effects and it may be an intrinsic feature, indicating that no universal L-E p relation would be expected among GRBs/pulses. This may strongly weaken the cosmological use of this relation.LU RuiJing & LIANG EnWei Physical Science & Technology College, Guangxi University, Nanning 530004, China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,1:1
Comparison between the time-integrated spectrum and the peak time spectrum of gamma-ray bursts and possible implications显示文摘The mono-frequency peak luminosity and the corresponding photon energy of the time-integrated(Ls p,Es p)and peak time(Lt p,Et p)νfνspectra were derived for a sample of 38 redshift-known Fermi GRBs by fitting the spectra with the Band function. It was found that Et pis generally consistent with Es p,and Lt pis averagely three times larger than Ls p.The slope of the Lt p-Et prelation was consistent with that of the Ls p-Es prelation. The photon indices in the peak time spectrum, particularly, the index of the low energy end was, were statistically larger than that in the time-integrated spectrum. These results indicate that Ls pand Es pare dominated by Lt pand Et p,respectively. The difference of the spectral indices between the time-integrated and peak time spectra may be because of the overlap effect of a series of time-resolved spectra within a GRB.Our simulations, which were based on the observed spectral evolution and correlation between the energy flux and the peak energy within individual GRBs support our speculations. The Lt p-Et prelation may be less contaminated by the overlap effect, and it would may be an intrinsic feature of radiation physics.LYU Fen WANG YuanZhu LIANG YunFeng LIN TingTing HU YouDong LIANG EnWei 2015Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2015,58,3:1

Density Functional Theory Calculations on the Interstellar Formation of Biomolecules显示文摘Density functional theory(DFT)is the most versatile electronic structure method used in quantum chemical calculations, and is increasingly applied in astrochemical research. This mini-review provides an overview of the applications of DFT calculations in understanding the chemistry that occurs in star-forming regions. We survey investigations into the formation of biologically relevant compounds such as nucleobases in the interstellar medium, and also cover the formation of both achiral and chiral amino acids,as well as biologically relevant molecules such as sugars, and nitrogen-containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.Additionally,DFT calculations are used to estimate the potential barriers for chemical reactions in astronomical environments. We conclude by noting several areas that require more research, such as the formation pathways of chiral amino acids, complex sugars, and other biologically important molecules, and the role of environmental factors in the formation of interstellar biomolecules.Qingli Liao Junzhi Wang Peng Xie Enwei Liang Zhao Wang 2023Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,12:0
Spectral lags in different episodes of gamma-ray bursts显示文摘A systematical analysis of the spectral lags in different episodes within a gamma-ray burst (GRB) for the BATSE GRB sample is given. The identified episodes are usually a single pulse with mixing of small fluctuations. The spectral lags were calculated for lightcurves in the 25-55 keV and 110-320 keV bands. No universal spectral lag evolution feature in different episodes within a GRB were found for most GRBs. Among 362 bright GRBs that have at least three well-identified episodes, 19 of them show long-to-short lag and 19 of them show short-to-long lag in successive episodes. The other 324 GRBs have no clear evolution trend. Defining the specified lag with the ratio of the spectral lag to the episode duration in 110-320 keV band, no prominent case of specified lag was found showing clear evolution features. The results suggest that the observed spectral lag may contribute to the dynamics and/or the radiation physics of a given emission episode.JIA LanWei YI TingFeng LIANG EnWei 2013Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,8:0
Catalytic Role of H I in the Interstellar Synthesis of Complex Organic Molecule显示文摘Using quantum chemical calculations,we model the pathways for synthesizing two purine nucleobases, adenine and guanine,in the gas-phase interstellar environment, surrounded by neutral atomic hydrogen(H I).H I is found active in facilitating a series of fundamental proton transfer processes of organic synthesis, including bond formation, cyclization, dehydrogenation, and H migration. The reactive potential barriers were significantly reduced in the alternative pathways created by H I,leading to a remarkable increase in the reaction rate. The presence of H I also lowered the reactive activation temperature from 757.8 K to 131.5–147.0 K,indicating the thermodynamic feasibility of these pathways in star-forming regions where some of the reactants have been astronomically detected. Our findings suggest that H I may serve as an effective catalyst for interstellar organic synthesis.Shuming Yang Peng Xie Enwei Liang Zhao Wang 2023Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,5:0
