| 1 | Prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder in China:A Nationwide Multi-center Population-based Study Among Children Aged 6 to 12 Years显示文摘This study aimed to obtain the first national estimate of the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder(ASD) in Chinese children.We targeted the population of 6 to 12-year-old children for this prevalence study by multistage convenient cluster sampling.The Modified Chinese Autism Spectrum Rating Scale was used for the screening process.Of the target population of 142,086 children,88.5%(n=125,806) participated in the study.A total of 363 children were confirmed as having ASD.The observed ASD prevalence rate was 0.29%(95% CI:0.26%-0.32%) for the overall population.After adjustment for response rates,the estimated number of ASD cases was867 in the target population sample,thereby achieving an estimated prevalence of 0.70%(95% CI:0.64%-0.74%).The prevalence was significantly higher in boys than in girls(0.95%;95% CI:0.87%-1.02% versus 0.30%;95%CI:0.26%-0.34%;P <0.001).Of the 363 confirmed ASD cases,43.3% were newly diagnosed,and most of those(90.4%) were attending regular schools,and 68.8% of the children with ASD had at least one neuropsychiatric comorbidity.Our findings provide reliable data on the estimated ASD prevalence and comorbidities in Chinese children. | Hao Zhou Xiu Xu Weili Yan Xiaobing Zou Lijie Wu Xuerong Luo Tingyu Li Yi Huang Hongyan Guan Xiang Chen Meng Mao Kun Xia Lan Zhang Erzhen Li Xiaoling Ge Lili Zhang Chunpei Li Xudong Zhang Yuanfeng Zhou Ding Ding Andy Shih Eric Fombonne Yi Zheng Jisheng Han Zhongsheng Sun Yong-hui Jiang Yi Wang LATENT-NHC Study Team | 2020 | Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,9: | 158 |
| 2 | Galangin induces apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells via the mitochondrial pathway显示文摘AIM:To investigate the mechanism by which galangin,a polyphenolic compound derived from medicinal herbs,induces apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) cells.METHODS:The 3-(4,5-Dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide assay was used to measure cell viability.Apoptosis was evaluated by in situ uptake of propidium iodide and Hoechst 33258 and was then detected by fluorescence microscopy.Protein expressions were detected by Western blotting.To confirm the apoptotic pathway mediated by galangin,cells were transfected by bcl-2 gene to overexpress Bcl-2 or siRNA to down-regulate Bcl-2 expression.RESULTS:Galangin(46.25-370.0 μmol/L) exerted an anti-proliferative effect,induced apoptosis,and decreased mitochondrial membrane potential in a dose and time-dependent manner.Treatment with galangin induced apoptosis by translocating the pro-apoptotic protein Bax to the mitochondria,which released apoptosis-inducing factor and cytochrome c into the cytosol.Overexpression of Bcl-2 attenuated galangin-induced HepG2 cell apoptosis,while decreasing Bcl-2 expression enhanced galangin-induced cell apoptosis.CONCLUSION:Our data suggests that galangin mediates apoptosis through a mitochondrial pathway,and may be a potential chemotherapeutic drug for the treatment of HCC. | Hai-Tao Zhang Liu-Bo Lan Da-Hua Fan Kai-Dan Zhu Xiao-Yi Chen Min Wen Hui-Ming Liu Guangdong Province China Hui Luo | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,27: | 32 |
| 3 | Influence of temperature and solution composition on the formation of calcium sulfates显示文摘Calcium sulfates (anhydrite and hydrates) were synthesized by mixing CaCl 2 and Na 2 SO 4 solutions at room temperature followed by aging the resulting slurries at elevated temperatures. The variation of the morphology and structure of the calcium sulfates with aging temperature was investigated. Experimental results indicated that CaSO 4 ·2H 2 O plates, CaSO 4 ·0.5H 2 O whiskers and CaSO 4 spindles were formed at ≤100 °C, 130–160 °C and ≥170 °C, respectively. The formation and conversion of the calcium sulfates were discussed on the basis of characterization of the products and chemical analysis of the solutions. | 5 | Contrast-enhanced ultrasound improved performance of breast imaging reporting and data system evaluation of critical breast lesions显示文摘AIM: To determine whether contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) can improve the precision of breast imaging reporting and data system(BI-RADS) categorization. METHODS: A total of 230 patients with 235 solid breast lesions classified as BI-RADS 4 on conventional ultrasound were evaluated. CEUS was performed within one week before core needle biopsy or surgical resection and a revised BI-RADS classification was assigned based on 10 CEUS imaging characteristics. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was then conducted to evaluate the diagnostic performance of CEUS-based BI-RADS assignment with pathological examination as reference criteria. RESULTS: The CEUS-based BI-RADS evaluation classified 116/235(49.36%) lesions into category 3, 20(8.51%), 13(5.53%) and 12(5.11%) lesions into categories 4A, 4B and 4C, respectively, and 74(31.49%) into category 5. Selecting CEUS-based BI-RADS category 4A as an appropriate cut-off gave sensitivity and specificity values of 85.4% and 87.8%, respectively, for the diagnosisof malignant disease. The cancer-to-biopsy yield was 73.11% with CEUS-based BI-RADS 4A selected as the biopsy threshold compared with 40.85% otherwise, while the biopsy rate was only 42.13% compared with 100% otherwise. | 7 | Management of granulomatous lobular mastitis: an international multidisciplinary consensus(2021 edition)显示文摘Granulomatous lobular mastitis(GLM) is a rare and chronic benign inflammatory disease of the breast. Difficulties exist in the management of GLM for many front-line surgeons and medical specialists who care for patients with inflammatory disorders of the breast. This consensus is summarized to establish evidence-based recommendations for the management of GLM. Literature was reviewed using PubMed from January 1, 1971 to July 31, 2020. Sixty-six international experienced multidisciplinary experts from 11 countries or regions were invited to review the evidence.Levels of evidence were determined using the American College of Physicians grading system, and recommendations were discussed until consensus. Experts discussed and concluded 30 recommendations on historical definitions,etiology and predisposing factors, diagnosis criteria, treatment, clinical stages, relapse and recurrence of GLM. GLM was recommended as a widely accepted definition. In addition, this consensus introduced a new clinical stages and management algorithm for GLM to provide individual treatment strategies. In conclusion, diagnosis of GLM depends on a combination of history, clinical manifestations, imaging examinations, laboratory examinations and pathology.The approach to treatment of GLM should be applied according to the different clinical stage of GLM. | 8 | Predictive model for contrast-enhanced ultrasound of the breast: Is it feasible in malignant risk assessment of breast imaging reporting and data system 4 lesions?显示文摘AIM: To build and evaluate predictive models for contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) of the breast to distinguish between benign and malignant lesions. METHODS: A total of 235 breast imaging reporting and data system(BI-RADS) 4 solid breast lesions were imaged via CEUS before core needle biopsy or surgical resection. CEUS results were analyzed on 10 enhancing patterns to evaluate diagnostic performance of three benign and three malignant CEUS models, with pathological results used as the gold standard. A logistic regression model was developed basing on the CEUS results, and then evaluated with receiver operating curve(ROC). RESULTS: Except in cases of enhanced homogeneity, the rest of the 9 enhancement appearances were statistically significant(P < 0.05). These 9 enhancement patterns were selected in the final step of the logistic regression analysis, with diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of 84.4% and 82.7%, respectively, and the area under the ROC curve of 0.911. Diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the malignant vs benign CEUS models were 84.38%, 87.77%, 86.38% and 86.46%, 81.29% and 83.40%, respectively. | 9 | Impacts of degrading permafrost on streamflow in the source area of Yellow River on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,China显示文摘Many observations in and model simulations for northern basins have confirmed an increased streamflow from degrading permafrost,while the streamflow has declined in the source area of the Yellow River(SAYR,above the Tanag hydrological station)on the northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,West China.How and to what extent does the degrading permafrost change the flow in the SAYR?According to seasonal regimes of hydrological processes,the SAYR is divided intofour sub-basins with varied permafrost extents to detect impacts of permafrost degradation on the Yellow River streamflow.Results show that permafrost degradation may have released appreciable meltwater for recharging groundwater.The potential release rate of ground-ice melt-water in the Sub-basin 1(the headwater area of the Yellow River(HAYR),above the Huangheyan hydrological station)is the highest(5.6 mm per year),contributing to 14.4%of the annual Yellow River streamflow at Huangheyan.Seasonal/intra-and annual shifts of streamflow,a possible signal for the marked alteration of hydrological processes by permafrost degradation,is observed in the HAYR,but the shifts are minor in other sub-basins in the SAYR.Improved hydraulic connectivity is expected to occur during and after certain degrees of permafrost degradation.Direct impacts of permafrost degradation on the annual Yellow River streamflow in the SAYR at Tanag,i.e.,from the meltwater of ground-ice,is estimated at 4.9%that of the annual Yellow River discharge at Tanag,yet with a high uncertainty,due to neglecting of the improved hydraulic connections from permafrost degradation and the flow generation conditions for the ground-ice meltwater.Enhanced evapotranspiration,substantial weakening of the Southwest China Autumn Rain,and anthropogenic disturbances may largely account for the declined streamflow in the SAYR. | MA Qiang JIN Hui-Jun Victor F.BENSE LUO Dong-Liang Sergey S.MARCHENKO Stuart A.HARRIS LAN Yong-Chao | 2019 | Advances in Climate Change Research2019,10,4: | 9 |

| 11 | Concurrent chemoradiotherapy with weekly docetaxel versus cisplatin in the treatment of locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma:a propensity score-matched analysis显示文摘Background:Promising efficacy and manageable toxicity of docetaxel-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT)were reported in head and neck cancer.In addition,the effect of CCRT in combination with cisplatin and/or 5-fluorouracil on both locoregionally advanced and metastatic/recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)was verified.However,CCRT with docetaxel for locoregionally advanced NPC are not well studied.This study aimed to compare effectiveness and toxicities of CCRT with weekly docetaxel versus tri-weekly cisplatin for locoregionally advanced NPC.Methods:Clinical data of patients with locoregionally advanced NPC newly diagnosed between January 2010 and December 2014 receiving CCRT with either weekly docetaxel(15 mg/m2)or tri-weekly cisplatin(80-100 mg/m2)were reviewed.Propensity score matching at a 1:1 ratio was performed to balance baseline characteristics.Adverse events and survival were compared between the two groups.Results:A total of 962 patients were included as the whole cohort,and 448 patients were matched and were regarded as the matched cohort.The median follow-up duration was 48 months for the whole cohort.The 3-year nodal recurrence-free survival rate was significantly increased for patients treated with docetaxel in both the whole(hazard ratio[HR]=0.37,95%confidence interval[CI]0.19-0.72,P=0.030)and matched cohorts(HR=0.33,95%CI 0.14-0.79,P=0.023).However,no significant differences were observed in overall survival,local recurrence-free survival,and distant metastasis-free survival between the two groups in both cohorts.Significantly higher rates of grade 3 radiodermatitis(6.7%vs.1.8%,P=0.001),mucositis(74.5%vs.37.9%,P<0.001),and leucopenia(2.2%vs.11.6%,P<0.001)were observed in the docetaxel group,but any grade of renal injury(1.8%vs.15.1%,P<0.001),vomiting(18.8%vs.88.3%,P<0.001),and ALT elevation(19.2%vs.31.3%,P=0.027)were more common in the cisplatin group.Conclusions:CCRT with weekly low-dose docetaxel is an effective and tolerable therapeutic regimen for locally advanced NPC.It provides a survival benefit mainly by improving the control of regional lymph node metastases,especially for patients with low pretreatment EBV DNA levels. | Jun-Fang Liao Qun Zhang Xiao-Jing Du Mei Lan Shan Liu Yun-Fei Xia Xiu-Yu Cai Wei Luo | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 9 |
| 12 | Pulsed radiofrequency inhibits expression of P2X3 receptors and alleviates neuropathic pain induced by chronic constriction injury in rats显示文摘Background:Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is a minimally invasive interventional technique that provides a novel and effective treatment strategy for neuropathic pain (NP).PRF is advantageous because it does not damage nerves and avoids sensory loss after treatment.At present,animal studies have demonstrated that PRF is safe and effective for relieving the NP associated with sciatic nerve damage in rats with chronic constriction injury (CCI).However,the mechanism through which this effect occurs is unknown.An increasing body of evidence shows that the expression of the P2X ligand-gated ion channel 3 (P2X3) receptor is closely related to NP;this study was to investigate whether the expression of this receptor is involved in NP relief due to PRF.Methods:A total of 36 healthy adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into three groups:Sham group,CCI group,and PRF group.The right sciatic nerve was ligated in CCI group and PRF group to establish a CCI model;the right sciatic nerve was separated but not ligated in Sham group.On day 14 after the operation,PRF was administered to the ligated sciatic nerve in PRF group (42℃,45 V,2 min).A non-live electrode was placed at the exposed sciatic nerve for the rats in Sham and CCI groups.The hindpaw withdrawal threshold (HWT) and thermal withdrawal latency (TWL) were measured at the right hindpaw at different time points before and after PRF or sham therapy.On day 28 after treatment,the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and spinal dorsal horn of the right L4-6 were harvested from each group to determine the mRNA and protein levels of the P2X3 receptor.Results:On day 28 after PRF treatment,the HWT (8.33 ± 0.67 g vs.3.62 ± 0.48 g) and TWL (25.42 ± 1.90 s vs.15.10 ± 1.71 s) were significantly higher in PRF group as compared to CCI group (P < 0.05).The mRNA expression of the P2X3 receptor in the DRG in PRF group was 23.7% lower than that in CCI group (P < 0.05),in the spinal dorsal horns in PRF group was 22.7% lower than that in CCI group (P < 0.05).The protein expression of the P2X3 receptor in the DRG in PRF group was 27.8 % lower than that in CCI group (P < 0.05),in the spinal dorsal horns in PRF group was 35.6% lower than that in CCI group (P < 0.05).Conclusion:PRF possibly reduces NP in CCI rats by inhibiting the expression of the P2X3 receptor in the L4-6 DRG and spinal dorsal horns. | Miao Fu Lan Meng Hao Ren Fang Luo | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,14: | 8 |

| 15 | Retrospective Study of Castleman's Disease:A Report of Fourteen Cases and Review of the Literature显示文摘OBJECTIVE To enhance the understanding of Castleman’s disease (CD), and to improve its diagnosis and management. METHODS Clinical features and related information on diagnosis and treatment of 14 cases of CD were retrospectively analyzed and the literature reviewed. RESULTS Based on the clinical classification, localized CD was found in 8 of the 14 cases. Both the results of lymph node biopsy and histopathology indicated they were a hyaline-vascular type. The multicentric type CD was detected in 6 cases, among which 4 were plasma cell type and 2 mixed type based on histopathologic examination. There were a variety of clinical situa-tions in the 14 cases, with a lack of specificity. They were previously misdiag-nosed as other diseases, and final diagnosis depended on a histopathologic examination. The 8 patients with localized CD underwent excision, without recurrence up to now. The 6 patients with multicentric-type CD were treated with glucocorticoids or combined chemotherapy, and all achieved remission. CONCLUSIONS CD has complicated clinical manifestations and is difficult to diagnose. Lymph node biopsy is important for early diagnosis. | 17 | Coxsackievirus B3 Infection Triggers Autophagy through 3 Pathways of Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress显示文摘Objective Autophagy is a highly conserved intracellular degradation pathway. Many picornaviruses induce autophagy to benefit viral replication, but an understanding of how autophagy occurs remains incomplete. In this study, we explored whether coxsackievirus B3(CVB3) infection induced autophagy through endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress. Methods In CVB3-infected HeLa cells, the specific molecules of ER stress and autophagy were detected using Western blotting, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR), and confocal microscopy. Then PKR-like ER protein kinase(PERK) inhibitor, inositol-requiring protein-1(IRE1) inhibitor, or activating transcription factor-6(ATF6) inhibitor worked on CVB3-infected cells, their effect on autophagy was assessed by Western blotting for detecting microtubule-associated protein light chain 3(LC3). Results CVB3 infection induced ER stress, and ER stress sensors PERK/eIF2α, IRE1/XBP1, and ATF6 were activated. CVB3 infection increased the accumulation of green fluorescent protein(GFP)-LC3 punctuation and induced the conversion from LC3-Ⅰ to phosphatidylethanolamine-conjugated LC3-1(LC3-Ⅱ). CVB3 infection still decreased the expression of mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR) and p-mTOR. Inhibition of PERK, IRE1, or ATF6 significantly decreased the ratio of LC3-Ⅱ to LC3-Ⅰ in CVB3-infected HeLa cells. Conclusion CVB3 infection induced autophagy through ER stress in HeL a cells, and PERK, IRE1, and ATF6 a pathways participated in the regulation of autophagy. The yield strength(YS) and elongation to failure of the composite were dramatically increased by 44.9% and 38.6%, respectively, compared to its alloy counterpart. The significantly enhanced mechanical properties of the as-synthesized composite are mainly ascribed to an improved interfacial bond, grain refinement and good dispersion of CNTs in the matrix via. coating NiO on CNTs.It is shown that the NiO-nanolayer on the CNTs significantly enhances the interfacial bonding strength and effectively prevents the agglomeration of CNTs. | 20 | Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Lung Cancer Patients显示文摘The prevalence of malnutrition is high among oncology patients in China. Although the Patient- Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is widely recognized as an important nutritional assessment tool, it has not been validated for Chinese cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of nutrition screening and assessment data to validate the Chinese version of the PG-SGA in Chinese patients with lung cancer. This was an observational, cross-sectional study of 2,000 consecutive adult patients with lung cancer treated at several tertiary hospitals in China. Anthropometric and patient descriptive data were collected. The PG-SGA generated a score for the nutritional risk and a global rating for the nutritional status. The internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity were evaluated, and a known-groups comparison and principal component analyses were conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the PG-SGA. The known-groups comparison demonstrated the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate lung cancer patients of different nutritional and body mass index (BMI) groups. A confirmatory factor analysis supported the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. In terms of the internal and external consistency, the PG-SGA demonstrated intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) up to 0.987. Alternative form validity was also demonstrated between Box 4 of the PG-SGA and the Karnofsky Performance Status score, with excellent external consistency (r = 0.972, P < 0.001). The construct validity was supported, and selected questionnaire dimensions were evident in the principal component analysis. Significant Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were demonstrated. The Chinese version of the PG-SGA demonstrated significant reliability and sufficient exploratory properties to support its validity. It seems to be a valid tool that can be used to access the nutritional status of Chinese lung cancer patients.
