| 1 | Biogeographic divergence in leaf traits of Sapindus mukorossi and Sapindus delavayi and its relation to climate显示文摘To explore differences in leaf morphology between Sapindus mukorossi and Sapindus delavayi, and how the environment might drive these differences,80 germplasm samples from the Sapindus germplasm nursery in Fujian Province were selected. The study revealed a wide variation and diversity in 16 germplasm traits, both within and between species grown under the same conditions. On average, the relative contribution of intraspecific variability to total variability was more important(83%) than the relative contribution of interspecific variability(17%).PERMANOVA analysis showed differences in leaflet thickness, length, perimeter, length to width ratio, and leaf hairs or trichome density.Correlation analyses between leaf morphological traits and environmental variables indicated that leaves tended to be larger, longer, and thicker in wetter, warmer, and low-altitude conditions. Our analysis of the relationship between climate and leaf morphology revealed that S.mukorossi had a greater sensitivity to climate variation, particularly in response to mean temperatures of the coldest and warmest seasons, which led to differences in leaf traits and the distribution of the two species. These findings contribute to the understanding of leaf morphology variations in S.mukorossi and S.delavayi, and provide a basis for the collection of Sapindus germplasm resources, their cultivation and use to help address climate change. | Xin Wang Jiming Liu Xue Rui Yuanyuan Xu Guochun Zhao Lixian Wang Xuehuang Weng Zhong Chen Liming Jia | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,4: | 1 |

| 4 | Screening of Sapindus germplasm resources in China based on agro-morphological traits显示文摘Sapindus L.species are widely cultivated for biodiesel, biomedical, and biochemical raw materials in southern China. However, yields fuctuate widely due to the lack of high-yielding,high-quality,stable cultivars. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to evaluate three species and one variety among 149 nationwide Sapindus species and screen for elite accessions which would serve as Sapindus breeding materials.Accessions were evaluated on 19 agro-morphological traits by correlation analysis and principal component analysis. These displayed substantial diversity and a broad range of economic traits. In particular, accessions of Sapindus mukorossi and Sapindus rarak had more variation in economic traits than Sapindus delavayi and Sapindus rarak var.velutinus.Increased saponin accumulation may be achieved at the cost of seed oil production.Thirty elite accessions for oil and saponin production, and for comprehensive utilization were screened and accessions no.80,110,and 112 had significant potential to produce high yields. These elite accessions will facilitate the identification of genetic determinants of valuable traits and the effective utilization of trait variability in Sapindus breeding. | Jiming Liu Shiqi Liu Yuanyuan Xu Caowen Sun Zhong Chen Xin Wang Lixian Wang Shilun Gao Guochun Zhao Qiuyang He Xuehuang Weng Liming Jia | 2022 | Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,1: | 1 |
| 5 | The SMAD2/miR-4256/HDAC5/p16^(INK4a) signaling axis contributes to gastric cancer progression显示文摘The dysregulation of exosomal microRNAs(miRNAs)plays a crucial role in the development and progression of cancer. This study investigated the role of a newly identified serum exosomal miRNA miR-4256 in gastric cancer(GC)and the underlying mechanisms. The differentially expressed miRNAs were firstly identified in serum exosomes of GC patients and healthy individuals using next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics.Next, the expression of serum exosomal miR-4256 was analyzed in GC cells and GC tissues, and the role of miR-4256 in GC was investigated by in vitro and in vivo experiments. Then, the effect of miR-4256 on its downstream target genes HDAC5/p16^(INK4a) was studied in GC cells, and the underlying mechanisms were evaluated using dual luciferase reporter assay and Chromatin Immunoprecipitation(ChIP).Additionally, the role of the miR-4256/HDAC5/p16^(INK4a) axis in GC was studied using in vitro and in vivo experiments. Finally, the upstream regulators SMAD2/p300 that regulate miR-4256 expression and their role in GC were explored using in vitro experiments.miR-4256 was the most significantly upregulated miRNA and was overexpressed in GC cell lines and GC tissues;in vitro and in vivo results showed that miR-4256 promoted GC growth and progression.Mechanistically,miR-4256 enhanced HDAC5 expression by targeting the promoter of the HDAC5 gene in GC cells, and then restrained the expression of p16^(INK4a) through the epigenetic modulation of HDAC5 at the p16INK4a promoter.Furthermore,miR-4256 overexpression was positively regulated by the SMAD2/p300 complex in GC cells. Our data indicate that miR-4256 functions as an oncogene in GC via the SMAD2/miR-4256/HDAC5/p16^(INK4a) axis, which participates in GC progression and provides novel therapeutic and prognostic biomarkers for GC. | MIN WANG HAILIANG ZHAO WEIWEI CHEN CAIQUN BIE JINYING YANG WENRUI CAI CHUTIAN WU YANFANG CHEN SHUFEN FENG YING SHI YUTING LI HUIJUN TANG LIXIAN ZHONG LILIANGZI GUO SISI CHEN LINJING LONG SHAOHUI TANG | 2023 | Oncology Research2023,31,4: | 0 |
| 6 | In Vitro Anti-Bacterial and Anti-Fungal Activities of Extracts from Different Parts of 7 Zingiberaceae Plants显示文摘This study aimed to explore the anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activities of extracts from different parts of plants in the Zingiberaceae family. The inhibitory rate, minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC),and minimum bactericidal concentration(MBC)of leaf and stem, and root and rhizome extracts from Alpinia katsumadai Hayata,Alpinia oxyphylla Miq×Alpinia henryi K.Schumann,Alpinia oblongifolia Hayata,Alpinia nigra(Gaertn.)Burtt,Amomum villosum Lour,Alpinia zerumbet(Pers.)Burtt.et Smith and Alpinia oxyphylla Miq were determined using the fungus cake method and double dilution method. The seven Zingiberaceae plants exhibited characteristic antibacterial activities against pathogenic bacteria and fungi. At a 1.5 mg mL^(−1),A.zerumbet root and rhizome extracts exhibited strong inhibitory activity against S.aureus and E.coli, with 83.23%and 79.62%,respectively.In addition,A.zerumbet leaf and stem extracts had an inhibitory rate of 90.85%against P.aeruginosa.At the same concentration, the leaf and stem, root and rhizome extracts of A.katsumadai had the best anti-bacterial effect against F.oxysporum, with inhibition rates of 84.46%and 84.73%,respectively.Moreover,A.katsumadai and A.zerumbet leaf and stem extracts had the most significant antibacterial effect against S.aureus, with a MIC of 0.063 mg mL^(−1).Thus,both A.katsumadai and A.zerumbet extracts had significant antibacterial activity. In addition,by comparing the inhibitory effect of extracts from different parts,it was found that the inhibitory rate and average inhibitory rate of extracts from leaf and stem were higher than those from root and rhizome. The chemical constituents of A.katsumadai and A.zerumbet, determined by the high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS),revealed that citric acid(CA),alpinetin, and pinocembrin(PNCB)were the functional constituents yielding the antibacterial activity.Overall,A.katsumadai and A.zerumbet have the potential to be developed as new plant fungicides and bactericides. | Lixian Wu Yongquan Li Qiaoguang Li Jingxuan Li Qinghua Lao Yucheng Zhong Hui Zhang Xiu Hu | 2023 | Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,2: | 0 |
