1Progress in the stratigraphy and geochronology of the Shuidonggou site,Ningxia,North China显示文摘In the past years we carried out further stratigraphy division in field and it is found that rich stone artifacts can be found in fluvial-shallow lake-alluvial sediments on the terrace Ⅱ of Biangou River, in Shuidonggou site, Ningxia and they are SDG1, 2 and 7. More luminescence and AMS 14C dating in laboratory show that Paleolithic culture develops during the Upper Paleolithic period with ages of 35―20 ka. The Paleolithic culture of SDG 1 is a little earlier than that of SDG 2 similar to SDG 7. The sandy sediments on terrace Ⅱ of Biangou River deposits in the past 72―18 ka, corresponding to Last Glacial. SDG2 has a stable sedimentary environment, resulting in the continuous stratigraphy, thickest deposits and rich environment and culture information, which can be regarded as the important and classic paleoanthropological section of Late Pleistocene in this region.LIU DeCheng WANG XuLong GAO Xing XIA ZhengKai PEI ShuWen CHEN FuYou WANG HuiMing 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,21:13
2Phase change driving mechanism and modeling for heat pipe with porous wick显示文摘According to heat pipe theory, capillary force is the only driving force for the circle of working fluid in heat pipe with porous wick. By developing a simulating circuit of liquid and vapor flow in heat pipe with porous wick, this paper presents a new driving mechanism which is from phase change of fluid. Furthermore, by analyzing transport process of working fluid between evaporation and condensation interfaces, a mathematical model is developed to describe this driving mechanism. Besides, calculating examples are given for heat pipe with water as working fluid to predict its driving force and flow resistance. By applying the model presented in the paper, thermal design and calculation for heat pipe with porous wick, especially for miniature heat pipe, can be made correctly, and phase change driving mechanism of working fluid can be explained, which thereby leads to a better understanding of heat transfer limitation of heat pipe with porous wick.LIU Wei LIU ZhiChun YANG Kun TU ZhengKai 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,21:4
3Whole-genome sequencing reveals selection signals among Chinese,Pakistani,and Nepalese goats显示文摘The goat(Capra hircus)is one of the oldest domesticated animal species,with archeological evidence indicating that its earliest domestication from the wild ancestor(bezoar)occurred in the Fertile Crescent 10,000 calibrated calendar years ago(Zeder and Hesse,2000).A variety of well-adapted goat breeds with excellent economic traits have been selected artificially and naturally for human needs in China,Pakistan,and Nepal.For example,cashmere goat breeds produce fine cashmere wool and are mainly distributed on the Himalayan Plateau(e.g.,Nepal and Tibet)and in cold northern China(e.g.,Inner Mongolia and Liaoning).The Toggenburg dairy goat is the most productive breed of dairy goat and is distributed in at least 50 countries on all continents(Ferro et al.,2017).Pakistani ewes are reared mostly for meat and wool purposes,but some are used as dairy goats,such as the Bugi Toori goat and Pateri goat(Bilal et al.,2018).Additionally,indigenous goats of the southern Asian regions are well adapted to the local hot environment.Their unique traits and biodiversity serve as genetic resources that can be used for the artificial breeding of goats.Recently,several studies have provided patterns of genome-wide characteristics in goat populations to explore the underlying genetic basis of trait formation and environmental adaptability in China(Zhang et al.,2018),Pakistan(Kumar et al.,2018),and Nepal(Sasazaki et al.,2021),respectively.However,due to the proximity of these geographic regions,the profiles of genetic differences,gene flow,and common genes related to high trait performance between goat populations from China,Pakistan,and Nepal remain unclear.Yefang Li Ying Gong Zhengkai Zhang Ling Li Xuexue Liu Xiaohong He Qianjun Zhao Yabin Pu Yuehui Ma Lin Jiang 2023Journal of Genetics and Genomics2023,50,5:2

11Desiccant Performance Evaluation of Desiccant-Coated Heat Exchanger-Based Heat Pump by Equilibrium Model显示文摘By combining the advantages of desiccant dehumidification and vapor compression refrigeration,the desiccant-coated heat exchanger-based heat pump(DCHE HP)is regarded as a promising alternative to the traditional vapor-compression air conditioning system(VCAC).Selecting proper desiccants from a large number of candidates is of great importance to improve the performance of DCHE HP.However,this task is challenging using current experimental or modelling strategies.In this work,we developed an equilibrium model to evaluate the power consumption of 39 DCHE HPs coated with different desiccants under various operating conditions.Eventually,five desiccants with low power consumption were selected.It was also demonstrated that under given operating conditions,the DCHE HP based on the five selected desiccants can save 21.3%–32.9%power compared with the VCAC.The power consumption of the DCHE HP is largely dependent on the heat of adsorption,the cyclical water uptakes and the remained moisture contents of the coating desiccants.It was further revealed that the moderate heat of adsorption,the larger cyclical water uptake and the lower remained moisture content are preferable for reducing the system energy demand.This work reported a quick evaluation of 39 desiccants for DCHE HP by an equilibrium model,which may also offer insights into the choosing and designing of desiccants for DCHE HP.LIU Yuexin LIU Zhilu XIA Xiaoxiao LI Wei TU Zhengkai CAI Shanshan LI Song 2023Journal of Thermal Science2023,32,6:0
12DATABASE STRUCTURE FOR THE INTEGRATION OF RS WITH GIS BASED ON SEMANTIC NETWORK显示文摘The integration of remote sensing (RS) with geographical information system (GIS) is a hotspot in geographical information science.A good database structure is important to the integration of RS with GIS,which should be beneficial to the complete integration of RS with GIS,able to deal with the disagreement between the resolution of remote sensing images and the precision of GIS data,and also helpful to the knowledge discovery and exploitation.In this paper,the database structure storing the spatial data based on semantic network is presented.This database structure has several advantages.Firstly,the spatial data is stored as raster data with space index,so the image processing can be done directly on the GIS data that is stored hierarchically according to the distinguishing precision.Secondly,the simple objects are aggregated into complex ones.Thirdly,because we use the indexing tree to depict the relationship of aggregation and the indexing pictures expressed by 2_D strings to describe the topology structure of the objects,the concepts of surrounding and region are expressed clearly and the semantic content of the landscape can be illustrated well.All the factors that affect the recognition of the objects are depicted in the factor space,which provides a uniform mathematical frame for the fusion of the semantic and non_semantic information.Lastly,the object node,knowledge node and the indexing node are integrated into one node.This feature enhances the ability of system in knowledge expressing,intelligent inference and association.The application shows that this database structure can benefit the interpretation of remote sensing image with the information of GIS.YU Nenghai WANG Xiaogang LIU Zhengkai ZHANG Rong 2001Geo-Spatial Information Science2001,4,3:0
13AN EVEN COMPONENT BASED FACE RECOGNITION METHOD显示文摘This paper presents a novel face recognition algorithm. To provide additional variations to training data set, even-odd decomposition is adopted, and only the even components (half-even face images) are used for further processing. To tackle with shift-variant problem,Fourier transform is applied to half-even face images. To reduce the dimension of an image,PCA (Principle Component Analysis) features are extracted from the amplitude spectrum of half-even face images. Finally, nearest neighbor classifier is employed for the task of classification. 14Effects of light intensity and photoperiod on the growth performance of juvenile Murray cods(Maccullochella peelii)in recirculating aquaculture system(RAS)显示文摘Murray cod(Maccullochella peelii)is a freshwater percichthyid fish that has a high market value and potential for culture in recirculating aquaculture systems(RASs).Illumination is an important environmental factor that affects the growth and physiological condition of fishes.A comprehensive understanding of the relationship between the light factors and the growth,nutrient composition and stress response of juvenile Murray cod in RAS is important to achieve satisfactory theoretical and practical aquaculture performance.Juvenile Murray cod were randomly assigned to nine RAS tanks with a volume of 1.5 m^(3),with each tank containing 120 fishes(3.5±0.5g).The fish were cultured for 120 days under different light intensities(1200,2400,and 3600 lx)and photoperiods(12L:12D,18L:6D and 24L:0D).The results showed that the final weight and feed conversion ratio of Murray cod under a light intensity of 1200 lx were significantly better than those under 3600 lx(P<0.05).The serum total protein and globulin were higher at the light intensity of 1200lx,compared to other light intensities.The blood urea nitrogen level improved with increasing light intensity at LD12:12 and LD18:6 of photoperiod,as well as the superoxide dismutase level improved significantly from LD18:6 to LD24:0 of photoperiod.The findings indicated that the optimal light condition to enhance growth at juvenile stage is 1200 lx of the light intensity and LD18:6 of the photoperiod.Zhengkai Di Kang Li Tiezhu Li Li Yan Haofei Jiang Liping Liu 2023Aquaculture and Fisheries2023,8,3:0

16The relationship between political connections and the mutual fund performance:Evidence from the US显示文摘This paper examines the effect of political connections between mutual fund managers and politicians on the fund performance.Using the publicly available data of individual political donations,we regard the mutual funds as politically connected when their managers make financial contributions to politicians.First,we show that aggregated stock holding changes of politically connected funds predict subsequent abnormal stock returns around the earnings announcement day,implying that the political connection promotes managers’stock picking abilities.Further evidence derived from the sample of entry buys and exit sells shows that politically connected funds outperform politically non-connected funds by 82 basis points annually.Second,we provide evidence that earnings forecast accuracy for the firms whose stocks are held by politically connected funds is improved significantly when time is approaching the announcement date,highlighting the importance of political channels through which information flows between firms and the market are facilitated.Zhengkai Liu Debao Hu Zheng He 2023Economic and Political Studies2023,11,2:0

19Analysis of the ecological environment around 10000 a BP in Zhaitang area,Beijing:A case study of the Donghulin Site显示文摘The transition from Paleolithic to Neolithic around 10000 a BP was a significant event in human history. We have analyzed the paleoenvironment in the Zhaitang area (Beijing) based on samples from an early Neolithic site at Donghulin. This site is considered to demonstrate the Paleolithic-Neolithic transition in this area. The site yielded burials with several human skeletons, known as 'Donghulin man'. We conducted a geomorphological and quaternary geological investigation in the Donghulin area, and also analyzed sediments and pollen, enabling us to discuss the living environment of the local people. Donghulin man lived mainly from 11100-9600 cal a BP; a period of warming following the Younger Dryas. The climate was good, the land was covered by dry temperate grassland, and later, wet temperate meadow steppe. 'Donghulin man' usually inhabited the floodplain; this was flat, warm, and wet, with abundant plants and animals for a favorable living environment.
