2Tonal coarticulation patterns in quadrisyllabic words and phrases with normal stress of mandarin显示文摘Quadrisyllabic words and phrases with normal stress of Mandarinwere used to study the tonal coarticuation.It was firstly found that the F0perturbation at the starting—point and the ending—point of the F0 curve ineach syllable caused by tonal coarticulation is larger than the intrinsic F0 dif-ference of vowels at the starting—point and the ending—point of it.As for thetonal coarticulation,it was discovered that tonal coarticulation in word andphrase with normal stress is different to that in the nonsense sequence with evenstress,and in word and phrase with normal stress,the tonal coarticulatory ef-fects are unidirectional,and the carryover effect does not extend to theending—point of tone—section of the following syllable and the anticipatory ef-fect does not extend to the starting-point of tone-section of the preceding one,and the F0 perturbation by tonal coarticulation has its pattern.LIN Maocan and YAN Jingzhu (Institute of Linguistics. 3A comparison on the pitch of statement of dialogue and read speech in Chinese Putonghua显示文摘Experimental evidence showed that declination exists in most sentences in Chinese Putonghua.However,the specific pitch variation of prosodic words(PWs) within sentences has not been fully understood.The dialogue material used in this study was taken from the 973 telephone conversation corpus,which includes 69 dialogues,with 79 speakers involved.The read speech material was recordings of news announcement by two announcers from radio, totally 221 sentences.Top and bottom points of pitch contour and the range of prosodic words with the sentences were studied.It was found that,for both dialogue and read speech,pitch declination exists for most sentences,with minor exceptions in the first part of longer sentences for dialogue.Compared to read speech,the pitch range of prosodic words for dialogue is smaller. For dialogue,the pitch range of the last prosodic words of the sentences are relatively larger, while there is no significant difference for pitch ranges of prosodic words in most sentences of read speech.This study will be helpful for the modeling of the pitch range and register of prosodic words in sentences in speech synthesis.WANG Maolin LI Jinsui LIN Maocan XIONG Ziyu 2013Chinese Journal of Acoustics2013,32,1:1
4A percepual study on the domain of tones in Standard Chinese显示文摘A perceptual experiment was conducted in which stimuli sliced from 12 StandardChinese syllables spoken in isolation were identified by 10 native speakers of Beijing dialect.The results of the experiment indicate that when the pre-onset or post-offest of a tone is extended to a large extent, the initial voiced consonant, the medial, the nasal coda, and the vocalic ending are not related to the tonal pitch; even when the post-offset is extended to a short extent, the nasal coda and the vocalic cnding are neither related to the tona1 pitch. Thus, with regard to the tonal domain of a Standard Chinese monosyllable in isolation, not only the initial voiced consonant and the medial, but also the nasal coda and the vocalic ending are excludedi in other words, the basic contour of Standard Chincse tone in isolation is mainly related to the syllabic vowel and its adjacent transition.
