| 1 | Mapping wetland changes in China between 1978 and 2008显示文摘Four wetland maps for all China have been produced,based on Landsat and CBERS-02B remote sensing data between 1978 and 2008 (1978,1990,2000 and 2008).These maps were mainly developed by manual interpretation and validated by substantial field investigation in 2009.Based on these maps,we analyzed the 2008 wetland distribution in China and discussed wetland changes and their drivers over the past 30 years.(i) There were about 324097 km 2 of wetlands in 2008,for which inland marshes or swamps were the most common wetland type (35%),with lakes (26%) second.Most of the wetlands were in Heilongjiang,Inner Mongolia,Qinghai and Tibet,occupying about 55% of the national wetland area.(ii) From 1978 to 2008,China's wetland area continually and significantly decreased,by about 33% based on changes in the wetland map.This was in sharp contrast to the increase in artificial wetlands,which increased by about 122%.Inland marshes accounted for the main loss of total wetlands from 1978 to 2000.From 2000 through 2008,riverine and lacustrine wetlands constituted the main wetland loss.Fortunately however,the rate of wetland loss decreased from 5523 to 831 km 2 /a.(iii) The change ratio of lost natural wetlands (including inland and coastal wetlands) to non-wetlands has decreased slightly over the past 30 years.From 1978 to 1990,nearly all natural wetlands (98%) lost were transformed into non-wetlands.However,the ratio declined to 86% from 1990 to 2000,and to 77% from 2000 to 2008.(iv) All Chinese provinces were divided into three groups according to patterns of wetland changes,which could relate to the driving forces of such changes.Tibet was completely different from other provinces,as it was one representative example in which there was a net wetland increase,because of global warming and decreased human activity since 1990.Increased economic development caused considerable wetland loss in most eastern provinces,and artificial wetlands increased. | NIU ZhenGuo ZHANG HaiYing WANG XianWei YAO WenBo ZHOU DeMin ZHAO KuiYi ZHAO Hui LI NaNa HUANG HuaBing LI CongCong YANG Jun LIU CaiXia LIU Shuang WANG Lin LI Zhan YANG ZhenZhong QIAO Fei ZHENG YaoMin CHEN YanLei SHENG YongWei GAO XiaoHong ZHU WeiHong WANG WenQing WANG Hong WENG YongLing ZHUANG DaFang LIU JiYuan LUO ZhiCai CHENG Xiao GUO ZiQi GONG Peng | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,22: | 51 |

| 5 | Seasonal changes in the water-use strategies of three herbaceous species in a native desert steppe of Ningxia,China显示文摘Frequent periods of drought conditions are known to limit plant performance,primary production,and ecosystem stability in arid and semi-arid desert steppe environments.Plants often avoid competition by shifting their water use seasonally,which affects the water-use patterns of dominant species as well as the composition and structure of plant communities.However,the water-use strategies of dominant herbaceous species,which grow under natural field conditions in the desert steppe region of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,China,are poorly known.Here,we explored the possible sources of water uptake and water-use efficiency(WUE)of three dominant herbaceous plant species(Stipa breviflora,Agropyron mongolicum,and Glycyrrhiza uralensis)in a native desert steppe in the semi-arid area of Ningxia through an analysis of multiple parameters,including(1)the stable isotopic oxygen and hydrogen(δ18O andδ2H)compositions of precipitation,soil water,and stem water,(2)the carbon isotope(13C)composition of leaves,and(3)the soil water contents,based on field sampling across varying water conditions from June to September,2017.Frequent small precipitation events replenished shallow soil water,whereas large events only percolated down to the deep soil layers.Changes in soil water availability affected the water-use patterns of plants.Generally,during light precipitation periods,the deep root system of G.uralensis accessed deeper(>80 cm)soil water,whereas S.breviflora and A.mongolicum,which only have shallow roots,primarily absorbed water from the shallow and middle soil layers.As precipitation increased,all three plant species primarily obtained water from the shallow soil layers.Variation in soil water uptake between the dry and wet seasons enabled plants to make better use of existing satoil water.In addition,theδ13C values of G.uralensis and S.breviflora were higher than those of A.mongolicum.Theδ13C values of the three plant species were significantly negatively correlated with soil water content.Therefore,G.uralensis and S.breviflora maintained a higher WUE through their conservative and water-saving strategies across the entire growing season.In contrast,A.mongolicum,with a relatively low WUE in the wet season but a high WUE in the dry season,exhibited a more flexible water-use strategy.The different water-use strategies of these dominant plant species demonstrated the mechanisms by which plant communities can respond to drought. | HU Haiying ZHU Lin LI Huixia XU Dongmei XIE Yingzhong | 2021 | Journal of Arid Land2021,13,2: | 4 |

| 8 | Effect of oxymatrine on interferon-gamma and tumor necrosis factor-alpha serum levels in an experimental rat model of autoimmune encephalomyelitis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have demonstrated that experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE) onset correlates with increased interferon-γ(IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) expression.Oxymatrine(OM) has been shown to inhibit autoimmune responses,but there are no reports showing that it could prevent the development of EAE.OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of OM on serum levels of IFN-γ and TNF-α in a rat model of EAE.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled,animal study was performed at the Experimental Animal Center of Henan Academy of Chinese Medicine and at the Key Disciplines Laboratory Clinical Medicine of Henan Province between July and December 2008.MATERIALS:OM was purchased from Chia-tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical,China;complete Freund's adjuvant was purchased from Sigma,USA.METHODS:Forty female Wistar rats were randomly assigned to four groups:EAE model(M),low-dose OM treatment(OM-L),high-dose OM treatment(OM-H),and normal control(N,no immunization),with 10 rats in each group.EAE was established in the M,OM-L,and OM-H groups following immunization with Guinea pig spinal cord homogenate and complete Freund's adjuvant.The M and N groups were intraperitoneally injected with normal saline(6.7 mL/kg per day),the OM-L group received an intraperitoneal injection of OM(100 mg/kg per day),and the OM-H group received OM(150 mg/kg per day).MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:At 16 days after immunization,the degree of histopathological changes in the spinal cord was assessed by hematoxylin-eosin stanining.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect serum levels of IFN-γ,and radioimmunoassay was utilized to determine serum TNF-α level.Neurological scores were measured on a daily basis according to a 0-5 scale.RESULTS:Daily injections of OM,both high and low doses,resulted in decreased neurological scores in EAE rats(P < 0.01),as well as reduced cellular infiltration in the spinal cord and decreased levels of serum IFN-γ and TNF-α(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:OM reduced the onset and severity of EAE,which correlated with decreased IFN-γ and TNF-α expression. | Xiaobin Guo Quancheng Kan Yifan Song Lin Zhu Xiang Li Haiying Hua GuangxianZhang | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,10: | 2 |

| 19 | Status of the IHEP 1.3 GHz superconducting RF program显示文摘The 1.3 GHz superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) technology is one of the key technologies for the ILC and future XFEL and ERL projects in China. With the aim to develop 1.3 GHz SRF technology, IHEP has started a program to build an SRF Accelerating Unit. This unit contains a 9-cell 1.3 GHz superconducting cavity, a short cryomodule, a high power input coupler, a tuner and a low level RF system. This program also includes the SRF laboratory upgrade, which will permit the unit to be built and tested at IHEP. The unit will be used for the 1.3 GHz SRF system integration study, high power horizontal test and possible beam test in the future. In this paper, we report the recent R&D status of this program. The first large grain low-loss shape 9-cell superconducting RF cavity made by IHEP reached 20 MV/m in the first vertical test in July, 2010. The prototype tuner and low level RF (LLRF) system are under test. The high power input coupler and cryomodule are under fabrication.
