1A long-term Global LAnd Surface Satellite(GLASS)data-set for environmental studies显示文摘Recently,five Global LAnd Surface Satellite(GLASS)products have been released:leaf area index(LAI),shortwave broadband albedo,longwave broadband emissivity,incident short radiation,and photosynthetically active radiation(PAR).The first three products cover the years 19822012(LAI)and 19812010(albedo and emissivity)at 15 km and 8-day resolutions,and the last two radiation products span the period 20082010 at 5 km and 3-h resolutions.These products have been evaluated and validated,and the preliminary results indicate that they are of higher quality and accuracy than the existing products.In particular,the first three products have much longer time series,and are therefore highly suitable for various environmental studies.This paper outlines the algorithms,product characteristics,preliminary validation results,potential applications and some examples of initial analysis of these products.Shunlin Liang Xiang Zhao Suhong Liu Wenping Yuan Xiao Cheng Zhiqiang Xiao Xiaotong Zhang Qiang Liu Jie Cheng Hairong Tang Yonghua Qu Yancheng Bo Ying Qu Huazhong Ren Kai Yu John Townshend 2013International Journal of Digital Earth2013,6,S01:16
2A dual-pass data assimilation scheme for estimating surface fluxes with FY3A-VIRR land surface temperature显示文摘In this work, a dual-pass data assimilation scheme is developed to improve predictions of surface flux. Pass 1 of the dual-pass data assimilation scheme optimizes the model vegetation parameters at the weekly temporal scale, and Pass 2 optimizes the soil moisture at the daily temporal scale. Based on ensemble Kalman filter(EnKF), the land surface temperature(LST) data derived from the new generation of Chinese meteorology satellite(FY3A-VIRR) are assimilated into common land model(CoLM) for the first time. Six sites, Daman, Guantao, Arou, BJ, Miyun and Jiyuan, are selected for the data assimilation experiments and include different climatological conditions. The results are compared with those from a dataset generated by a multi-scale surface flux observation system that includes an automatic weather station(AWS), eddy covariance(EC) and large aperture scintillometer(LAS). 3Improvement of Dark Object Method in Atmospheric Correction of hyperspectral remotely sensed data显示文摘The existing methods in atmospheric correction of hyperspectral data usually focus on removing the effects of water vapor and other absorptive gases, while this paper mainly studies the method of re- moving the influence of the aerosol and the water vapor simultaneously. Because the hyperspectral data has a larger number of bands, the conventional dark object method cannot be applied to the at- mospheric correction of the hyperspectral data which can be improved, as described in this paper, by adequately making use of spectral characteristics of the hyperspectral data with an iterative correction during the whole process. The effects of the aerosol and water vapor are eliminated at the same time finally. The improved dark object method is used to do the atomospheric correction of the Hyperion data in Yanzhou, Shandong Province as an example. 4Preliminary evaluation of the long-term GLASS albedo product显示文摘Land surface albedo is an important parameter to describe the radiant forcing in the climate system.A long-time series of global albedo products is needed to understand the mechanism of climate change.Aiming to support global change and Earth system studies,GLASS(Global LAnd Surface Satellites)provides long-term global land surface albedo product from 1981 to 2010,which are generated from multisource remote sensing data and newly developed algorithms.It is critical to assess the quality of the GLASS product when it is released to the public.This paper first introduced the algorithms and then analyzed the integrity,accuracy,and robustness of the GLASS albedo product.The results show that the GLASS albedo product is a gapless,long-term continuous,and self-consistent data-set with an accuracy similar to that of the widely acknowledged MODIS MCD43 product.The quality flag,which is provided along with the black-sky and white-sky albedo,gives a pertinent indication of the expected uncertainty in the product.Qiang Liua Lizhao Wang Ying Qu Nanfeng Liu Suhong Liu Hairong Tang Shunlin Liang 2013International Journal of Digital Earth2013,6,S01:7
5Remote sensing of earth’s energy budget:synthesis and review显示文摘The Earth’s climate is largely determined by its energy budget.Since the 1960s,satellite remote sensing has been used in estimating these energy budget components at both the top of the atmosphere(TOA)and the surface.Besides the broadband sensors that have been traditionally used for monitoring Earth’s Energy Budget(EEB),data from a variety of narrowband sensors aboard both polar-orbiting and geostationary satellites have also been extensively employed to estimate the EEB components.This paper provides a comprehensive review of the satellite missions,state-of-the art estimation algorithms and the satellite products,and also synthesizes current understanding of the EEB and spatiotemporal variations.The TOA components include total solar irradiance,reflected shortwave radiation/planetary albedo,outgoing longwave radiation,and energy imbalance.The surface components include incident solar radiation,shortwave albedo,shortwave net radiation,longwave downward and upwelling radiation,land and sea surface temperature,surface emissivity,all-wave net radiation,and sensible and latent heat fluxes.Some challenges,and outlook such as virtual constellation of different satellite sensors,temporal homogeneity tests of long time-series products,algorithms ensemble,and products intercomparison are also discussed.Shunlin Liang Dongdong Wang Tao He Yunyue Yu 2019International Journal of Digital Earth2019,12,7:5

20Fractional vegetation cover estimation in heterogeneous areas by combining a radiative transfer model and a dynamic vegetation model显示文摘A fractional vegetation cover(FVC)estimation method incorporating a vegetation growth model and a radiative transfer model was previously developed,which was suitable for FVC estimation in homogeneous areas because the finer-resolution pixels corresponding to one coarseresolution FVC pixel were all assumed to have the same vegetation growth model.However,this assumption does not hold over heterogeneous areas,meaning that the method cannot be applied to large regions.Therefore,this study proposes a finer spatial resolution FVC estimation method applicable to heterogeneous areas using Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager reflectance data and Global LAnd Surface Satellite(GLASS)FVC product.The FVC product was first decomposed according to the normalized difference vegetation index from the Landsat 8 OLI data.Then,independent dynamic vegetation models were built for each finer-resolution pixel.Finally,the dynamic vegetation model and a radiative transfer model were combined to estimate FVC at the Landsat 8 scale.Validation results indicated that the proposed method(R^(2)=0.7757,RMSE=0.0881)performed better than either the previous method(R^(2)=0.7038,RMSE=0.1125)or a commonly used method involving look-up table inversions of the PROSAIL model(R^(2)=0.7457,RMSE=0.1249).Yixuan Tu Kun Jia Shunlin Liang Xiangqin Wei Yunjun Yao Xiaotong Zhang 2020International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,4:1
