1Diabetic cardiomyopathy: Pathophysiology, theories and evidence to date显示文摘The prevalence of type 2 diabetes(T2D)has increased worldwide and doubled over the last two decades.It features among the top 10 causes of mortality and morbidity in the world.Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of complications in diabetes and within this,heart failure has been shown to be the leading cause of emergency admissions in the United Kingdom.There are many hypotheses and well-evidenced mechanisms by which diabetic cardiomyopathy as an entity develops.This review aims to give an overview of these mechanisms,with particular emphasis on metabolic inflexibility.T2D is associated with inefficient substrate utilisation,an inability to increase glucose metabolism and dependence on fatty acid oxidation within the diabetic heart resulting in mitochondrial uncoupling,glucotoxicity,lipotoxicity and initially subclinical cardiac dysfunction and finally in overt heart failure.The review also gives a concise update on developments within clinical imaging,specifically cardiac magnetic resonance studies to characterise and phenotype early cardiac dysfunction in T2D.A better understanding of the pathophysiology involved provides a platform for targeted therapy in diabetes to prevent the development of early heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.Lavanya Athithan Gaurav S Gulsin Gerald P McCann Eylem Levelt 2019World Journal of Diabetes2019,10,10:15
2Discovery of natural berberine-derived nitroimidazoles as potentially multi-targeting agents against drug-resistant Escherichia coli显示文摘A series of natural berberine-derived nitroimidazoles as novel antibacterial agents were designed, synthesized and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR), infrared spectra(IR), and high resolution mass spectra(HRMS) spectra. The antimicrobial evaluation showed that some target molecules exhibited moderate to good inhibitory activities against the tested bacteria and fungi including clinical drug-resistant strains isolated from infected patients. Especially, 2-fluorobenzyl derivative8 f not only gave strong activity against drug-resistant E. coli with the minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) value of0.003 m M, 33-fold more active than norfloxacin, but also exhibited low toxicity toward RAW 264.7 cells and less propensity to trigger resistance. The aqueous solubility and Clog P values of target compounds were investigated to elucidate the structureactivity relationships. Molecular docking and quantum chemical studies for compound 8 f rationally explained its antibacterial effect. The further exploration of antibacterial mechanism revealed that the highly active compound 8 f could effectively permeabilize E. coli cell membrane and intercalate into DNA isolated from resistant E. coli to form 8 f-DNA complex that might block DNA replication to exert the powerful bioactivities. 3喹唑酮咪唑类化合物的设计、合成及其抗菌活性与靶向DNA研究显示文摘多药耐药菌的频繁出现已日益严重威胁人类健康,开发结构新型的抗菌药物已成为全世界战胜耐药菌的重要课题.本文设计合成了一系列具有抗微生物潜力的酰腙桥链的喹唑酮咪唑类新化合物,其结构经核磁共振氢谱(~1H NMR)、核磁共振碳谱(^(13)C NMR)和高分辨质谱(HRMS)进行表征.生物活性研究发现,一些目标化合物具有较好的抗微生物活性,特别是十八烷基衍生物6h和4-氟苄基取代的化合物7i,抗痢疾杆菌和大肠杆菌DH52的活性是氯霉素的2.5~3.3倍,抗黄曲霉菌活性是临床药物氟康唑的28和8.4倍.用紫外-可见光谱法进行了高活性化合物7i靶向DNA的初步研究,发现咪唑衍生物7i可嵌入小牛胸腺DNA形成7i-DNA超分子络合物,从而阻断DNA复制,展现出较好的抗细菌活性.分子模拟研究表明,活性分子7i与DNA碱基通过氢键结合.该类化合物作为新型抗真菌黄曲霉菌专一特效药及新型抗细菌药值得深入研究.曹泉诚 王辉 Tangadanchu Vijai Kumar Reddy Gopala Lavanya 蔡桂鑫 周成合 2017中国科学:化学2017,47,7:5

5Synthesis,Characterization and Biocompatibility of Potassium Ferrite Nanoparticles显示文摘In the present study,morphology,size distribution,structure,biocompatibility and magnetic properties of potassium ferrite nanoparticles(KFeO_2 NPs),synthesized by conventional sol—gel method have been reported.The formation of spherical nanoparticles with orthorhombic structure has been confirmed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction.The particle size,as obtained by transmission electron microscopy has been found to be in the range of 4—7 nm.Further,the size distribution has been scrutinized using Analyse-it software,where a platykurtic feature in the size distribution was observed.Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis showed the formation of metal(Fe,K) bonds at Neel temperature of 337℃.Vibrating sample magnetometer analysis revealed the superparamagnetic behaviour of the synthesized KFeO_2NPs,with saturation magnetization of 25.72 emu/g.In vitro cytotoxicity test,using MTT assay,on T cell lines(Jurkat cells) showed that KFeO_2 NPs are biocompatible at a particle concentration of 100 |j.g/ml.Lavanya Khanna N.K.Verma 2014Journal of Materials Science & Technology2014,30,1:3
6Cardiac amyloidosis: A case report and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND Cardiac amyloidosis,a disease caused by the precipitation of amyloid proteins in the myocardial extracellular matrix has been historically difficult to diagnose due to lack of specific clinical manifestations and necessity of biopsy to demonstrate amyloid deposition. However,advances in cardiovascular imaging techniques have facilitated earlier recognition of this disease. In addition,while once thought of as incurable,treatment strategies are emerging for cardiac amyloidosis,making early diagnosis essential.CASE SUMMARY We outline the case of a 73 years old African American female who was admitted with sudden onset shortness of breath and found to be in cardiogenic shock.Cardiac amyloidosis was suspected due to discordance between electrocardiogram and echocardiogram findings and this was subsequently confirmed with the aid of scintigraphy and an endomyocardial biopsy.CONCLUSION Our objective is to highlight the diagnostic evaluation and clinical implications of cardiac amyloidosis.Adeyemi Adedamola Taiwo Lavanya Alapati Assad Movahed 2019World Journal of Clinical Cases2019,7,6:3

10Phase evolution and mechanical properties of novel nanocrystalline Y_(2)(TiZrHfMoV)_(2)O_(7) high entropy pyrochlore显示文摘High entropy pyrochlores(HEP)are potential candidates as dispersoids in the oxide dispersed strengthened steels or alloys,which can be used in nuclear reactors and supercritical boilers.For the first time,HEP oxides Y_(2)(TiZrHfMoV)_(2)O_(7) were synthesized with Y_(2)Ti_(2)O_(7) as a base structure with the B site(Ti)substituted with five cations through reverse co-precipitation technique in the nanocrystalline form at lowest synthesis temperature.The synthesis parameters for Y_(2)(TiZrHfMoV)_(2)O_(7)(5C)and other derived compositions(five compositions of four cationic systems with each cation eliminated at B site from 5 C)are optimised to obtain lower crystallite and particle sizes.5C has a smaller crystallite size(27 nm)than other single-phase compositions.The cation’s influence,oxidation state,and oxygen vacancy in the phase formation were analysed through XPS.The single-phase HEPs are consolidated through spark plasma sintering.Y_(2)(TiZrHfMo)_(2)O_(7)(4 C-V)shows the highest hardness among the compositions reported so far due to its finer grain size,and Y_(2)(TiHfMoV)_(2)O_(7)(4 C-Zr)has a higher Young’s modulus compared to other single-phase composition due to its higher degree of order in the structure.G.Karthick Lavanya Raman B.S.Murty 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,23:2
11Left ventricular pseudoaneurysm: A case report and review of the literature显示文摘Left ventricular(LV) pseudoaneurysm is a rare complication that is reported in less than 0.1% of all patients with myocardial infarction. It is the result of cardiac rupture contained by the pericardium and is characterized by the absence of myocardial tissue in its wall unlike true aneurysm which involves full thickness of the cardiac wall. The clinical presentation of these patients is nonspecific, making the diagnosis challenging. Transthoracic echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging are the noninvasive modalities whereas coronary arteriography and left ventriculography are invasive modalities used for the diagnosis. 13不同距离观看3D影像后视光学参数和视力疲劳症状分析(英文)显示文摘目的:不同距离观看3D影像后调节幅度、集合近点(NPC)及近隐斜视和视力疲劳的症状分析。方法:前瞻性研究,包括30例青年。每人每天三次分别在特定距离和不同距离观看3D影像,并连续三天进行观察,每一距离使用相同视频,相同的时间和不同的屏幕大小。使用K-multimedia player 3D播放器。观看3D影响后立即记录立体视觉、调节幅度、调节近点及近隐斜视和视力疲劳症状等相关变量。分别使用TNO测量视功能,RAF尺测量调节幅度和集合近点,棱镜杆测量近隐斜视,封闭式问卷调查视力疲劳症状的发生情况。用描述性统计和配对t检验进行数据分析,定性数据采用卡方检测。结果:在40 cm,3 m和6 m处调节幅度分别减少了0.66 D,1.12 D和1.44 D,集合近点显著降低了0.63 cm,0.93 cm和1.23 cm,近隐斜视分别增加了0.87,2.74和2.2棱镜度。结果发现,大多数受试者在每一距离处都出现眼周疼痛,头痛和刺激等反应。在家庭环境中,头痛、盗汗、疲劳、刺激和恶心等症状会显著增加,此外,通过使用笔记本电脑观看3D可能会引起头痛和盗汗等相关不适症状。结论:观看3D前后、在三种不同距离处,调节幅度、集合近点及近隐斜视和视力疲劳的症状显著不同。在不同距离观看3D影像后,视力疲劳为主要症状。Oleeviya Joseph Lavanya Kalikivayi Sajeev Cherian Jacob Venkataramana Kalikivayi 2018国际眼科杂志2018,18,5:2
