Kim S Goel R Kumar A Qi Y Lobaton G Hosaka K Mohammed M Handberg EM Richards EM Pepine CJ Raizada MK 刘青 叶鹏 2018中华高血压杂志2018,26,9:45
Antidiabetic and in vitro antioxidant potential of Hybanthus enneaspermus(Linn) F.Muell in streptozotocin—induced diabetic rats显示文摘Objective:To evaluate antidiabetic and antioxidant potential of Hybanthus enneaspermus in different models. Methods:The oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT) and normoglycemic effect of alcoholic extract of Hybanthus enneaspermus(AHE) were evaluated at a dose of 125,250 and 500mg/kg p.o.while hypoglycemic activity and effect on body weight were tested at 250 and 500 mg/kg p.o.per day for 21 days in Streptozotocin(STZ) induced diabetic rats.Further, glucose uptake by hemidiaphram was also evaluated. The total polyphenolic and flavonoid were determined and their correlation with various antioxidant assays was also determined. Results:The results showed high level of phenolic content in AHE.AHE also exhibited higher total antioxidant capacity, good reducing power and a significant scavenger of reactive oxygen species like DPPH radical, nitric oxide, hydrogen peroxide and deoxyribose.Furthermore there was a significant increase in the body weight and decrease in the blood glucose level on treatment with the AHE.AHE increased glucose uptake on isolated rat hemi-diaphragm compared to control group. Conclusions:AHE reduce blood glucose level in STZ-induced diabetic model. It does not show significant effect in normoglycemic study but showes significant effect in OGT.AHE has significant antioxidant activity, which may be attributed to high phenolic content.Patel DK Kumar R Prasad SK Sairam K Hemalatha S 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,4:22
Role of live microbial feed supplements with reference to anaerobic fungi in ruminant productivity: A review显示文摘To keep the concept of a safe food supply to the consumers, animal feed industries world over are showing an increasing interest in the direct-fed microbials(DFM) for improved animal performance in terms of growth or productivity. This becomes all the more essential in a situation, where a number of the residues of antibiotics and/or other growth stimulants reach in milk and meat with a number of associated potential risks for the consumers. Hence, in the absence of growth stimulants, a positive manipulation of the rumen microbial ecosystem to enhance the feedstuff utilization for improved production efficiency by ruminants has become of much interest to the researchers and entrepreneurs. A few genera of live microbes(i.e., bacteria, fungi and yeasts in different types of formulations from paste to powder) are infrequently used as DFM for the domestic ruminants. These DFM products are live microbial feed supplements containing naturally occurring microbes in the rumen. Among different DFM possibilities, anaerobic rumen fungi(ARF) based additives have been found to improve ruminant productivity consistently during feeding trials. Administration of ARF during the few trials conducted, led to the increased weight gain, milk production, and total tract digestibility of feed components in ruminants. Anaerobic fungi in the rumen display very strong cell-wall degrading cellulolytic and xylanolytic activities through rhizoid development, resulting in the physical disruption of feed structure paving the way for bacterial action. Significant improvements in the fiber digestibility were found to coincide with increases in ARF in the rumen indicating their role. Most of the researches based on DFM have indicated a positive response in nutrient digestion and methane reducing potential during in vivo and/or in vitro supplementation of ARF as DFM. Therefore, DFM especially ARF will gain popularity but it is necessary that all the strains are thoroughly studied for their beneficial properties to have a confirmed ‘generally regarded as safe' status for ruminants.Anil K Puniya Abdelfattah Z M Salem Sanjay Kumar Sumit S Dagar Gareth W Griffith Monica Puniya Sreenivas R Ravella Nikhil Kumar Tejpal Dhewa Ravinder Kumar 2015Journal of Integrative Agriculture2015,14,3:17
A review on medicinal importance, pharmacological activity and bioanalytical aspects of beta-carboline alkaloid 'Harmine'显示文摘Harmine,a beta-carboline alkaloid,is widely distributed in the plants, marine creatures, insects, mammalians as well as in human tissues and body fluids.Harmine was originally isolated from seeds of Peganum harmal in 1847 having a core indole structure and a pyridine ring.Harmine has various types of pharmacological activities such as antimicrobial, antifungal, antitumor, cytotoxic, antiplasmodial, antioxidaant, antimutagenic, antigenotoxic and hallucinogenic properties. It acts on gamma-aminobutyric acid type A and monoamine oxidase A or B receptor, enhances insulin sensitivity and also produces vasorelaxant effect.Harmine prevents bone loss by suppressing osteoclastogenesis. The current review gives an overview on pharmacological activity and analytical techniques of harmine, which may be useful for researcheres to explore the hidden potential of harmine and and will also help in developing new drugs for the treatment of various diseases.K Patel M Gadewar R Tripathi SK Prasad Dinesh Kumar Patel 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,8:17
Synthesis and evaluation of novel analogues of mangiferin as potent antipyretic显示文摘Objective:To screen different analogues of mangiferin pharmacologically for antipyretic activity. Methods:The naturally occurring xanthone glycoside mangiferin was isolated by column chromatography from the elhanolic extract of stem bark of Mangifera indica.Mangiferin was further converted to 5-(N-phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N-p-chlorophenylamino methyleno) mangiferin,5-(N-2-methyl phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N-p-methoxy phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N,N-diphenylamino methyleno) mangiferin,5-(N-α-napthylamino methyleno) mangiferin and 5-(N-4-methyl phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin analogues. The synthesized compounds were further screened for antipyretic activity along with mangiferin at a dose level of 100 and 200 tng/kg.Mangiferin and its analogues were characterized by melting point and R_f value determination and through spectral technique like UV,IR,and NMR spectral analysis. Results:The antipyretic activity of mangiferin as well as all analogues was found to be more significant in at higher dose ie.200 mg/kg which was depicted thmugh a decrease in rectal temperature up to 3 h.Conclusions:The antipyretic activity of mangiferin and its analogues may be attributed to inhibition in synthesis of TNF-αand anti-oxidant activity associated with amelioration of inflammatory actions of cytokines.Shashi Kant Singh Saurabh K Sinha SK Prasad R Kumar Bhawani S Bithu S Sadish Kumar P Singh 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,11:4
Evaluation of in vitro aldose reductase inhibitory potential of different fraction of Hybanthus enneaspermus Linn F.Muell显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the aldose reductase inhibitory(ARI)activity of different fractions of Hybanthus enneaspermus for potential use in diabetic cataract. Methods:Total phenol and flavonoid content of different fractions was determined.ARI activity of different fractions in rat lens was investigated in vitro. Results:The results showed significant level of phenolic and flavonoid content in ethyl acetate fraction[total phenol(212.15±0.79 mg/g),total flavonoid(39.11±2.27mg/g)]and aqueous fraction[total phenol(140.62±0.57mg/g),total flavonoid(26.07±1.49 mg/g)]as compared with the chloroform fraction[total phenol(68.56±0.51mg/g),total flavonoid(13.41±0.82mg/g)]and petrolium ether fraction[total phenol(36.68±0.43mg/g),total flavonoid(11.55±1.06mg/g)].There was a significant difference in the ARI activity of each fraction, and it was found to be the highest in ethyl acetate fraction[IC_(50)(49.26±1.76μg/mL)]followed by aqueous extract[IC_(50)(70.83±2.82μg/mL)]and it was least in the petroleum ether fraction[IC_(50)(118.89±0.71μg/mL)].Chloroform fraction showed moderate activity[IC_(50)(98.52±1.80μg/mL)].Conclusions:Different fractions showed significanct amount of ARI activity, where in ethyl acetate fraction it was found to be maximum which may be due to its high phenolic and flavonoid content. The extract after further evaluation may be used in the treatment of diabetic cataract.Patel DK Kumar R Kumar M Sairarn K Hemalatha S 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,2:4
Structural and luminescence enhancement properties of Eu^(3+)/Ag nanocrystallites doped SiO_2-TiO_2 matrices显示文摘We reported here the structural and optical characterisation of silver nanocrystallites/Eu3+ :SiO2-TiO2 matrices synthesised through sol-gel route. Structural characterisations were done by using energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), atomic force microscope (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements and optical characterisations were performed by absorption and emission spectroscopy. The TEM and XRD measurements confirmed the presence of nanocrystals. A broad absorption band was observed due to surface plasmon resonance of silver nanocrystals. The effect of silver nanocrystals on the emission spectrum of Eu3+ doped SiO2-TiO2 matrices was discussed. An attempt was made to explain this fluorescence enhancement by invoking phenomena such as energy transfer, asymmetry ratio, surface plasmon, surface roughness, crystallinity and grain boundary. Our analysis, based on the experimental results, suggested that all the phenomena except crystallinity and grain boundary had favourable effects on fluorescence enhancement. We also estimated the relevant parameters associated with the phenomena that affected the fluorescence emission from the Eu3+ ions in the matrix. It was seen that the theoretical estimate of fluorescence enhancement agreed well with the experimental estimate.Arun Kumar K V Revathy K P Prathibha Vasudevan Sunil Thomas Biju P R Unnikrishnan N V 2013Journal of Rare Earths2013,31,5:2
