1A novel n-CeO2/n-CdO heterojunction nanocomposite for enhanced photodegradation of organic pollutants under visible light irradiation显示文摘In this study,a series of novel visible light driven n-CeO2/n-CdO heterojunction(CeO2/CdO)nanoco mposites we re successfully fabricated by simple ultrasonication method.Several characte rization tools including X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electro n microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(UV-DRS),etc.,were utilized to investigate the physicochemical properties of the catalyst and confirm the formation of heterojunction.Under visible light irradiations, the photocatalytic activities of the as-prepared CeO2/CdO nanocomposites were evaluated by degrading of Congo red(CR)and Rhodamine B(RhB)solutions. As a result, the CeO2/CdO(mass percentage ratio 1:3)nanocomposite displays remarkable performance for CR and RhB degradation. The enhancement in the photocatalytic performance of CeO2/CdO(1:3)nanocomposite can be attributed not only to the strong visible-light absorption region, separating the photogenerated electronhole pairs but also to the formation of n-n type heterojunction. The results also indicate that the CeO2/CdO(1:3)nanocomposite has good stabilization and high reusability. In addition, the mechanism is proposed for the coupled semiconductors and possible reasons for the enhancement of visible-light photocatalytic efficiency are also discussed. This work can provide a new gateway to fabricate visible photocatalysts and promising candidate catalysts for poisonous wastewater treatment in the near future.Karunamoorthy Saravanakumar Subramani Muthupoongodi Velluchamy Muthuraj 2019Journal of Rare Earths2019,37,8:6
2Photocatalytic degradation of environmental perilous gentian violet dye using leucaena-mediated zinc oxide nanoparticle and its anticancer activity显示文摘Phytomediated synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles has become a key research area in nanotech no logy due to its wide applicability in various biomedical fields. The present work explores the biosynthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) using Leucaena leucocephala leaf extract. The synthesised ZnO-NPs were characterised by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, seanning electron microscopy (SEM), energydispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) studies. Biosynthesised ZnONPs are found to have wurtzite hexagonal structure with particles distributed in the range of 50-200 nm as confirmed by TEM studies. The anticancer activity of ZnONPs against MCF-7 (breast cancer) and PC-3 (human prostate cancer) cell lines was evaluated using 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. From the assay, biosynthesised ZnO-NPs have better cytotoxic activity on PC-3 cell lines than MCF- 7 cell lines. The in vitro cytotoxicity studies of biosynthesised ZnO-NPs against Dalton lymphoma ascites (DLA) cells reveal better “ntitunior activity of 92% inhibition with concentration of 200μg ·ml^-1 of ZnO-NPs, and as the concentration increases, the anticancer efficiency as well increases, and also, it has excellent photocatalytic activity to degrade crystal violet dye in aqueous solution after irradiation of 90 min. The result suggests that the green synthesis of ZnO-NPs could be easily recovered and reused several times without any significant loss of the catalytic activity. The advantage of this technique lies in its low cost, easily clinibable and non-use of toxic agents.Krishnaswamy Kanagamani Pitchaipillai Muthukrishnan Karunamoorthy Saravanakumar Karikalan Shankar Ayyasami Kathiresan 2019Rare Metals2019,38,4:2
