1Coupling the k-nearest neighbor procedure with the Kalman filter for real-time updating of the hydraulic model in flood forecasting显示文摘The Kalman filter(KF) updating method has been widely used as an efficient measure to assimilate realtime hydrological variables for reducing forecast uncertainty and providing improved forecasts.However,the accuracy of the KF relies much on the estimates of the state transition matrix and is limited due to the errors inherit from parameters and variables of the flood forecasting models.A new real-time updating approach(named KN^2K) is produced by coupling the k-nearest neighbor(KNN) procedure with the KF for flood forecasting models.The nonparametric KNN algorithm,which can be utilized to predict the response of a system on the basis of the k most representative predictors,is still efficient when the descriptions for input-output mapping are insufficient.In this study,the KNN procedure is used to provide more accurate estimates of the state transition matrix to extend the applicability of the KF.The updating performance of KN^2K is investigated in the middle reach of the Huai River based on a onedimensional hydraulic model with the lead times ranging from 2 to 12 h.The forecasts from the KN^2K< are compared with the observations,the original forecasts and the KF-updated forecasts.The results indicate that the KN^2K method,with the Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency larger than 0.85 in the 12-h-ahead forecasts,has a significant advantage in accuracy and robustness compared to the KF method.It is demonstrated that improved updating results can be obtained through the use of KNN procedure.The tests show that the KN^2K method can be used as an effective tool for real-time flood forecasting.Kailei Liu Zhijia Li Cheng Yao Ji Chen Ke Zhang Muhammad Saifullah 2016International Journal of Sediment Research2016,31,2:3
2Thyroxine treatment for elderly patients with heart failure and sick euthyroid syndrome显示文摘Objectives To evaluate the effect of thyroid hormone therapy with low dose of thyroxin on cardiac function in elderly patients with heart failure and sick euthyroid syndrome. Methods Forty-seven patients (33 males and 14 females, mean age 85.9+4.6 years,ranging from 80 to 99 years) with chronic heart failure (NYHA Ⅱ-Ⅳ) and low triiodothyronine (T3) state were randomly allocated to the treatment group or control group. The treatment group patients received oral administration of levothyroxine sodium (Euthyrox) 25-50mg/d in addition to conventional therapy of heart failure, whereas patients in control group were given conventional therapy only. Serum level of total T3 (TT3), free T3 (FT3), total thyroxine (TT4), free thyroxine (FT4), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) were determined. For both groups, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and stroke volume (SV) were assessed by two-dimensional echocardiography before and at 8 weeks after treatment. The changes of these parameters after the treatment were evaluated by adjusting heart rate in the two groups. Results The reduced serum T3 level in the treatment group was corrected after thyroid hormone therapy,and these patients had a significant improvement in cardiac function after treatment. By contrast, in the control group only changes of serum TT3 and TT4 levels and SV and LVEF after treatment were statistically significant. The heart rate-adjusted mean SV and LVEF in both groups were also increased, which was significantly greater in the treatment group than in the control group. 17Behaviours of Multi-Stakeholders under China’s Renewable Portfolio Standards:A Game Theory-Based Analysis显示文摘China has implemented both quantitative and policy incentives for renewable energy development since 2019 and is currently in the policy transition stage.The implementation of renewable portfolio standards(RPSs)is difficult due to the interests of multiple stakeholders,including power generation enterprises,power grid companies,power users,local governments,and the central government.Based on China’s RPS policy and power system reform documents,this research sorted out the core game decision problems of China’s renewable energy industry and established a conceptual game decision model of the renewable energy industry from the perspective of local governments,power generation enterprises and power grid companies.The results reveal that for local governments,the probability of meeting the earnings quota or punishments for not reaching quota completion are the major determinants for active participation in quota supervision.For power grid firms,the willingness to accept renewable electricity quotas depends on the additional cost of receiving renewable electricity and governmental incentives.It is reasonable,from the theoretical perspective,to implement the RPS policy on the power generation side.Electricity reform will help clarify the electricity price system and increase the transparency of the quota implementation process.Policy implications are suggested to achieve sustainable development of the renewable energy industry from price incentives and quantity delivery.Bing Wang Kailei Deng Liting He Zhenming Sun 2021Energy Engineering2021,118,5:0

19An Experimental and Numerical Study on the Ballistic Performance of Multi-Layered Moderately-Thick Metallic Targets against 12.7-mm Projectiles显示文摘Themain goal of this work is to study the ballistic performance ofmulti-layered moderately-thick metallic targets.Several target configurations have been considered in thiswork,with various types of interlayer connection(spaced,contacted and adhesive)and the number of layers(four and eight),and the influence of target configurations on ballistic performance has been studied experimentally and numerically.In the experiments,the targets were impacted by 12.7-mm projectiles at a velocity around 820 m/s.The experimental results show that,with similar total thickness,the contacted and adhesive targets exhibit better ballistic performance than the monolithic targets,and the four-layered targets are better than the eight-layered targets with the same connection type.To explore the ballistic resistance mechanism,numerical method has been used to simulate the penetration process of each target.The numerical results indicate that petal formation and friction have significant influence on targets’ballistic performance.Friction has stronger influence on themulti-layered targets than on themonolithic ones.According to the numerical results,about 14%of projectile’s initial kinetic energy is dissipated by friction during penetrating the four-layered contacted target,which is proved to be the most effective type of target studied in thiswork.The results also indicate that,in contrast to common understanding,friction plays an important role even when the impact velocity is significantly higher than the ballistic limit.The outcome of this work may provide useful information for a better understanding of ballistic resistant mechanisms and more efficient utilization of multi-layered metallic targets in armor structural design.Kailei Wang Mingjing Li Peng Yan Leiting Dong 2022Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,4:0
20Defect elimination to enhance photoluminescence and optical transparency of Pr-doped ceramics for self-calibrated temperature feedback windows显示文摘Pr-doped metal oxide polycrystalline transparent ceramics are highly desirable for photothermal window systems served in extreme environments;however,obtaining efficient photoluminescence(PL)together with high transparency in these ceramics is still posing serious challenges,which undoubtedly limits their applications.Here,Pr-doped Y_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7)(YZO)transparent ceramics,as an illustrative example,are prepared by a solid-state reaction and vacuum sintering method.Owing to the elimination of defect clusters[Pr_(Y)^(4+)-O^(2-)Pr_(Y)^(4+)]and[Pr_(Y)^(4+)-e′]without the introduction of impurities and additional defects,the fabricated YZO:Pr ceramics exhibit high transparency(74%)and efficient PL(39-fold enhanced)after air annealing plus vacuum re-annealing treatment.Moreover,upon 295/450 nm excitation,the emission bands(blue,green,red,and dark red)from YZO:Pr ceramics present different temperature-dependent properties due to the thermalquenching channel generated by the intervalence charge transfer(IVCT)state between Pr_(Y)^(4+)and Zr^(4+)ions.Furthermore,a self-calibrated temperature feedback window with the same fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR)model(I_(613)/I_(503),where I represents the intensity)under different excitation light sources(295 and 450 nm)is designed.The developed photothermal window operated in a wide temperature range(303-663 K)shows relatively high sensitivities(absolute sensitivity(Sa)and relative sensitivity(S)reach 0.008 K^(-1)at 663 K and 0.47%K^(-1)at 363 K,respectively),high repeatability(>98%),and low temperature uncertainty(T<3.2 K).This work presents a paradigm for achieving enhanced PL along with elevated transparency of lanthanide(Ln)-doped ceramics through vacuum re-annealing treatment engineering and demonstrates their promising potential for photothermal window systems.Kailei Lu Yucheng Ye Wenhan Han Gang Cheng Xinghua Zhu Jianqi Qi Tiecheng Lu 2023Journal of Advanced Ceramics2023,12,4:0
