| 1 | Effect of statins use on the prevention of venous thromboembolism: a meta-analysis显示文摘Objective: To estimate the effect of statins use on the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Methods: We systematically searched MEDLINE (1980-June 2012), EMBASE (1980-June 2012), Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, and ISI Web of Science, manually reviewed references, and contacted experts. Case-control studies and cohort studies that compared any dose of statin with no statin or placebo are included. Data extraction and study quality evaluation were independently conducted in duplicate. Results: 12 studies including four cohort studies and eight case-control studies were identified and eligible for meta-analysis. Upon meta-analysis, statin use was associated with a statistically significant reduction in the odds of developing VTE (OR 0.91, 95% CI 0.86-0.96). Conclusion: This meta-analysis of current and available literature suggests that statins can reduce patient's risk of developing VTE. | 2 | Effects of a Potential Autochthonous Probiotic Bacillus subtilis 2-1 on the Growth and Intestinal Microbiota of Juvenile Sea Cucumber,Apostichopus japonicus Selenka显示文摘The effects of Bacillus subtilis 2-1 from the intestine of healthy sea cucumber on the growth, digestive enzyme activities and intestinal microbiota of juvenile sea cucumber(Apostichopus japonicus) were determined in the present study. Sea cucumber was fed with Sargassum thunbergii powder supplemented with B. subtilis 2-1 at different concentrations varying among 0(control), 10~5, 10~7, and 10~9 CFU g^(-1) for 8 weeks. Results showed that the growth performance and intestinal amylase and trypsin activities were significantly increased by dietary B. subtilis 2-1 at 10~9 CFU g^(-1)(P < 0.05). However, dietary B. subtilis 2-1 had no significant influence on the lipase activity in sea cucumber(P > 0.05). The polymerase chain reaction denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis and 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis indicated that dietary B. subtilis 2-1 at 105 and 107 CFU g^(-1) inhibited most of the Proteobacteria including those in genus Vibrio. Dietary B. subtilis 2-1 at 10~9 CFU g^(-1) not only decreased the abundance and species of genus Vibrio, but also increased the intensity of genera Psychrobacter and Bacillus. | 6 | Development and initial validation of the child intermittent Exotropia Questionnaire among child strabismus patients显示文摘Objectives:To translate the Child Intermittent Exotropia Questionnaire(Child-IXTQ)from English to Chinese and to evaluate its reliability and validity in Chinese childhood strabismus patients.Method:A consecutive sample of 143 child strabismus patients was recruited from the Department of Ophthalmology at a medical center in Southwest China.In addition,100 visually normal adults and 100 patients with other eye diseases were recruited.The Brislin translation model was followed to develop the Chinese version of Child-IXTQ.Reliability was established using Cronbach's a and test-retest.Validity was established encompassing content validity,construct validity,convergent validity,criterion-related validity and discriminative validity.Results:The correlation coefficients between each item score with the total score ranged from 0.370 to 0.813.Two subscales were extracted by principal component analysis,with a content validity of 0.91.The correlation coefficients between two factor scores with the total score were 0.709 and 0.939.Criterion-related validity was estimated by the correlating the Child-IXTQ with the PedsQL 4.0,and the correlation coefficient was 0.522.In addition,the Child-IXTQ discriminated accurately between strabismus patients and normal children,or children with other eye diseases that possessed good discriminative validity.Cronbach's a coefficient for the internal consistency was 0.907 and the test-retest reliability was 0.962.Conclusions:Our study indicates that the Child-IXTQ is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing the health-related quality of life among children with strabismus. | Wei Bian Yan Wu Yang Liu Junli Wan Yan Xu Mingqiong Tan | 2015 | International Journal of Nursing Sciences2015,2,1: | 1 |
| 7 | Effects of drip irrigation and cropping on soil salinity,ionic composition and waxy corn production in a severely saline and calcareous and gypsiferous soil显示文摘Drip technologies have been suggested as practical for irrigation under conditions of high salinity and for reclamation of saline soils.Drip irrigation triggered by soil water potential thresholds was applied to both reclaim a severely saline calcareous gypsiferous soil and irrigate a waxy corn crop(Zea mays L.sinesis Kulesh).However,there is a lack of knowledge on the sustainability of reclamation of saline soils with drip irrigation and the changes in soil salinity and salt ion composition during the amelioration process.Therefore,effects on soil salinity,its ionic composition,and on crop growth and yields were evaluated in an experiment conducted in the Yinchuan Plain,northwest China.Treatments included fields in their first to fourth years of the drip irrigation reclamation-cropping scheme and adjacent native,non-cropped or irrigated salinesodic land as control.Yield of waxy corn increased and days of growth to maturity decreased as a function of time and reclamation management.The improvement in crop performance could be largely credited to the reduction of soil salinity and changes in salt composition under the drip-irrigated reclamation protocols.The drip irrigation regime created a region of low salinity proximal to the emitters conducive to germination and plant growth.Deleterious ions for crop growth such as Na+and Cl^(-)were reduced while Ca2+and Mg2+concentration increased,especially in the upper 40 cm of soil.After only a single season of drip-irrigated waxy corn production,both Cl-SO_(4)^(2-)ratios and sodium adsorption ratio(SAR)decreased dramatically.The results suggested that drip irrigation is an effective technology for reclamation of severely saline-affected soils,such as those widely distributed over the Ningxia Plain in China and that this or similar reclamation strategy could be appropriate for reclamation of other hard to manage calcareous and gypsiferous soils. | Junli Tan Yaohu Kang Yanping Jiao Shuqin Wan Xina Wang Juncang Tian Ran Erel Alon Ben-Gal | 2023 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,5: | 0 |
| 8 | Whole-exome sequencing of a multicenter cohort identifies genetic changes associated with clinical phenotypes in pediatric nephrotic syndrome显示文摘Understanding the association between the genetic and clinical phenotypes in children with nephrotic syndrome(NS)of different etiologies is critical for early clinical guidance.We employed whole-exome sequencing(WES)to detect monogenic causes of NS in a multicenter cohort of 637 patients.In this study,a genetic cause was identified in 30.0%of the idiopathic steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome(SRNS)patients.Other than congenital nephrotic syndrome(CNS),there were no significant differences in the incidence of monogenic diseases based on the age at manifestation.Causative mutations were detected in 39.5%of patients with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis(FSGS)and 9.2%of those with minimal change disease(MCD).In terms of the patterns in patients with different types of steroid resistance,a single gene mutation was identified in 34.8%of patients with primary resistance,2.9%with secondary resistance,and 71.4%of children with multidrug resistance.Among the various intensified immunosuppressive therapies,tacrolimus(TAC)showed the highest response rate,with 49.7%of idiopathic SRNS patients achieving complete remission.Idiopathic SRNS patients with monogenic disease showed a similar multidrug resistance pattern,and only 31.4%of patients with monogenic disease achieved a partial remission on TAC.During an average 4.1-year follow-up,21.4%of idiopathic SRNS patients with monogenic disease progressed to end-stage renal disease(ESRD).Collectively,this study provides evidence that genetic testing is necessary for presumed steroid-resistant and idiopathic SRNS patients,especially those with primary and/or multidrug resistance. | Jia Jiao Li Wang Fenfen Ni Mo Wang Shipin Feng Xiaojie Gao Han Chan Xueying Yang Hao Lee Huan Chi Xuelan Chen Daoqi Wu Gaofu Zhang Baohui Yang Anshuo Wang Qin Yang Junli Wan Sijie Yu Xiaoqin Li Mei Wang Xiaofeng Chen Xianying Mai Xiongzhong Ruan Haiping Yang Qiu Li | 2022 | Genes & Diseases2022,9,6: | 0 |
