| 1 | A new free-hand pedicle screw placement technique with reference to the supraspinal ligament显示文摘We sought to compare the safety and accuracy of a new free-hand pedicle screw placement technique to that of the conventional technique.One hundred fifty-three consecutive adult patients with simple fracture in the thoracic or/and lumbar spine were alternately assigned to either the new free-hand or the conventional group.In the new free-hand technique group,preoperative computerized tomography(CT) images were used to calculate the targeted medial-lateral angle of each pedicle trajectory and the pedicle screw was inserted perpendicular to the corresponding supraspinal ligament.In the conventional technique group,the medial-lateral and cranial-caudal angle of each pedicle trajectory was determined by intraoperatively under fluoroscopic guidance.The accuracy rate of pedicle screw placement,the time of intraoperative fluoroscopy,the operating time and the amount of blood loss during operation were respectively compared.All screws were analyzed by using intraoperative radiographs,intraoperative triggered electromyography(EMG) monitoring data,postoperative CT data and clinical outcomes.The accuracy rate of pedicle screw placement in the new free-hand technique group and the conventional technique group was 96.3% and 94.2%(P < 0.05),respectively.The intraoperative fluoroscopy time of the new technique group was less than that of the conventional technique group(5.37 seconds vs.8.79 seconds,P < 0.05).However,there was no statistical difference in the operating time and the amount of blood loss during operation(P > 0.05).Pedicle screw placement with the free-hand technique which keeps the screw perpendicular to the supraspinal ligament is an accurate,reliable and safe technique to treat simple fracture in the thoracic or lumbar spine. | Juming Li Hong Zhao Hao Xie Lipeng Yu Jifu Wei Min Zong Feng Chen Ziqiang Zhu Ning Zhang Xiaojian Cao | 2014 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,1: | 7 |
| 2 | Electrospun Polyethylene Glycol/Polyvinyl Alcohol Composite Nanofibrous Membranes as Shape-Stabilized Solid-Solid Phase Change Materials显示文摘In this work,shape-stabilized solid-solid phase change materials(PCMs)were fabricated by simply electrospinning polyethylene glycol(PEG)and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA).Owing to the strong hydrogen bonds and entanglement between those molecular chains of PEG and PVA,PEG was packaged by PVA.The morphological structures,thermal stability and thermal energy storage properties of those fibers were investigated.SEM results showed that those electrospun PVA/PEG composite membranes hold a three-dimensional nonwoven web structure even the content of PEG as high as 70%.The thermal energy storage ability of those composite fibers increased with the increase of the content of PEG.The heat enthalpies of PEG/PVA=7/3 were as high as 78.806 J/g.Moreover,those composite fibers had excellent thermal stability.After 100 heating and cooling cycles,there was almost no obvious change in the melting enthalpy and crystallization enthalpy.Those fibers still maintained good thermal regulation.The simple preparation process,low cost of raw materials and excellent stability endow the PCMs great utilization potentiality in smart textile and energy storage systems. | Junwen Huang Houyong Yu Somia Yassin Hussain Abdalkarim Jaromir Marek Jiri Militky Yingzhan Li Juming Yao | 2020 | Advanced Fiber Materials2020,2,3: | 2 |

| 6 | Umwelt-Semiosis:A Semiotic Perspective on the Dynamicity of Intercultural Communication Process显示文摘Semiotics has shed much light on both communication studies and cultural studies,and thus informed the investigations into intercultural communication,an area increasingly concerned in academic research.This paper incorporates our previous semiotic probes into intercultural communication,especially the semiotic model of the intercultural communication process,with the insights that have been recently highlighted in studies of edusemiotics and biosemiotics to further explore the detailed sign-relations embodied in intercultural communication contexts.Based on the conceptualizations of umwelt and semiosis and their interrelation which constitutes an umwelt-semiosis framework,we explore in depth the dynamic process of intercultural communication.Through an analytic of the mutual affection between the communicator’s umwelt as the functional cultural background of the communicators and semiosis as the act of communication,we explain in detail the dynamicity by which communicators’culturally embedded manners of thinking and behaving cannot only affect,but also be affected by the process of intercultural communication.Finally,we indicate that such dynamicity can be consciously manipulated by communicators should we reconceptualize communication following a triadic viewpoint instead of the dualistic one that has dominated sociological studies. | Juming Shen Yu Sheng Xingchen Shen | 2020 | Language and Semiotic Studies2020,6,2: | 0 |
| 7 | Linsitinib (OSI‑906) modulates brain energy metabolism and seizure activity in the lithium‑pilocarpine rat model显示文摘Background:Epileptic seizure is a process of energy accumulation,bursting,and depletion accompanied by the production,spread,and termination of epileptic discharges.The energy required for a seizure is mainly provided through mitochondrial production of ATP.Mitochondrial diseases often lead to epileptic seizures,and energy depletion caused by seizures can lead to mitochondrial dysfunction.The energy metabolism has become a key target for treatment of epileptic diseases.Method:The effect of OSI-906,an insulin receptor(IR)/insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor(IGF-1R)inhibitor,on behaviors and electroencephalographic activity in the lithium-pilocarpine rats were tested.18F-FDG positron emission tomography(PET)/computed tomography(CT)was performed to detect the relative whole-brain glucose uptake values.Electron microscopy was performed to observe the ultrastructure of neuronal and mitochondrial damage.The changes in blood glucose at different time points before and after the intervention were tested and the effects of OSI-906 on IR/IGF-1R and downstream Akt signaling in the context of seizures were evaluated.Results:The OSI-906 treatment applied 3 days before the pilocarpine-induced seizures significantly reduced the seizure severity,prolonged the seizure latency and decreased the EEG energy density.MicroPET/CT revealed that 50 mg/kg of OSI-906 inhibited the 18F-FDG glucose uptake after epileptic seizures,suggesting that OSI-906,through inhibiting IR/IGF-1R and the downstream AKT signaling,may regulate the excessive energy consumption of the epileptic brain.The OSI-906 treatment also reduced the mitochondrial damage caused by epileptic seizures.Conclusion:The IR/IGF-1R inhibitor OSI-906 can significantly reduce the sensitivity and severity of pilocarpineinduced seizures by inhibiting the IR/IGF-1R and the downstream Akt signaling pathway. | Guohui Jiang Shenglin Wang Mingyue Chen Xiaomi Ding Weiwei He Li Wang Shunxian Wang Juming Yu Xiaoming Wang | 2021 | Acta Epileptologica2021,3,1: | 0 |
