| 1 | Changing Proportions of HIV-1 Subtypes and Transmitted Drug Resistance Among Newly Diagnosed HIV/AIDS Individuals—China,2015 and 2018显示文摘Introduction:With the expansion of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)antiretroviral therapy(ART),HIV drug resistance is becoming more and more serious.This study describes the changing prevalence of HIV-1 subtypes and transmitted drug resistance(TDR)among newly diagnosed individuals in China,2015 and 2018.Methods:A total of 8,980 individuals in 2015 and 2018 from 31 provincial-level administrative divisions(PLADs)were enrolled in this study.Viral RNAs were amplified and sequenced using an in-house polymerase chain reaction(PCR)protocol.The Stanford HIV Drug Resistance Database(HIVdb)was used to predict susceptibility to 12 antiretroviral drugs.Results:The prevalence of TDR was not significantly increased over time.The prevalence of TDR was 3.8%and 4.4%in 2015 and 2018,respectively(P=0.13).The prevalence of CRF55_01B increased from 2.3%in 2015 to 3.9%in 2018(P<0.001).The drug resistance prevalence of nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors(NNRTI)increased from 2.4%in 2015 to 3.3%in 2018(P<0.01).The prevalence of E138(P<0.001),H221(P=0.03),and V179(P<0.001)mutations increased from 0.30%,0.09%,and 0.70%in 2015 to 1.10%,0.30%,and 1.70%in 2018,respectively.Conclusions:HIV drug resistance affects the effect of antiretroviral treatment,so the monitoring of HIV TDR should be strengthened to control the transmission of HIV drug resistance. | Jingjing Hao Shan Zheng Mengze Gan Aobo Dong Ruihua Kang Miaomiao Li Shuai Zhao Jing Hu Chang Song Lingjie Liao Yi Feng Yiming Shao Yuhua Ruan Hui Xing | 2021 | China CDC weekly2021,3,53: | 13 |
| 2 | Release of VEGF and BMP9 from injectable alginate based composite hydrogel for treatment of myocardial infarction显示文摘Myocardial infarction(MI)is one of cardiovascular diseases that pose a serious threat to human health.The pathophysiology of MI is complex and contains several sequential phases including blockage of a coronary artery,necrosis of myocardial cells,inflammation,and myocardial fibrosis.Aiming at the treatment of different stages of MI,in this work,an injectable alginate based composite hydrogel is developed to load vascular endothelial active factor(VEGF)and silk fibroin(SF)microspheres containing bone morphogenetic protein 9(BMP9)for releasing VEGF and BMP9 to realize their respective functions.The results of in vitro experiments indicate a rapid initial release of VEGF during the first few days and a relatively slow and sustained release of BMP9 for days,facilitating the formation of blood vessels in the early stage and inhibiting myocardial fibrosis in the long-term stage,respectively.Intramyocardial injection of such composite hydrogel into the infarct border zone of mice MI model via multiple points promotes angiogenesis and reduces the infarction size.Taken together,these results indicate that the dual-release of VEGF and BMP9 from the composite hydrogel results in a collaborative effect on the treatment of MI and improvement of heart function,showing a promising potential for cardiac clinical application. | Yong Wu Tianqi Chang Weiqian Chen Xiaoyu Wang Jingjing Li Yueqiu Chen You Yu Zhenya Shen Qian Yu Yanxia Zhang | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,2: | 7 |

| 5 | Methyl jasmonate mediates melatonin-induced cold tolerance of grafted watermelon plants显示文摘Root–shoot communication has a critical role in plant adaptation to environmental stress.Grafting is widely applied to enhance the abiotic stress tolerance of many horticultural crop species;however,the signal transduction mechanism involved in this tolerance remains unknown.Here,we show that pumpkin-or figleaf gourd rootstock-enhanced cold tolerance of watermelon shoots is accompanied by increases in the accumulation of melatonin,methyl jasmonate(MeJA),and hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)).Increased melatonin levels in leaves were associated with both increased melatonin in rootstocks and MeJA-induced melatonin biosynthesis in leaves of plants under cold stress.Exogenous melatonin increased the accumulation of MeJA and H_(2)O_(2) and enhanced cold tolerance,while inhibition of melatonin accumulation attenuated rootstock-induced MeJA and H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.MeJA application induced H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance,but inhibition of JA biosynthesis abolished rootstock-or melatonin-induced H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.Additionally,inhibition of H_(2)O_(2) production attenuated MeJA-induced tolerance to cold stress.Taken together,our results suggest that melatonin is involved in grafting-induced cold tolerance by inducing the accumulation of MeJA and H_(2)O_(2).MeJA subsequently increases melatonin accumulation,forming a self-amplifying feedback loop that leads to increased H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.This study reveals a novel regulatory mechanism of rootstock-induced cold tolerance. | Hao Li Yanliang Guo Zhixiang Lan Kai Xu Jingjing Chang Golam Jalal Ahammed Jianxiang Ma Chunhua Wei Xian Zhang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 5 |

| 7 | Memory stem T cells generated by Wnt signaling from blood of human renal clear cell carcinoma patients显示文摘Objective: Memory stem T cells(Tscm) have attracted attention because of their enhanced self-renewal, multipotent capacity, and anti-tumor capacities. However, little is known about Tscm in patients with renal clear cell carcinoma(RCC) and the role of Wnt signaling in these cells. We evaluated Tscm from RCC patients concerning their activation of Wnt signaling in vitro and explored the mechanism of preferential survival.Methods: Flow cytometry identified surface markers and cytokines produced from accumulated Tscm in the presence of the glycogen synthase kinase beta inhibitor TWS119. Apoptosis was evaluated after induction using tumor necrosis factor-alpha.Immunofluorescence and Western blot analyses were used to investigate the activation of the nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-КB)pathway.Results: RCC patients had a similar percentage of CD4^+ and CD8^+ Tscm as healthy donors. | 8 | Comparison of Clinical and Epidemiological Characteristics of Asymptomatic and Symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 Infection in Children显示文摘To understand the epidemiological and clinical features of the symptomatic and asymptomatic pediatric cases of COVID-19,we carried out a prospective study in Shanghai during the period of January 19 to April 30,2020.A total of 49 children(mean age 11.5±5.12 years)confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection were enrolled in the study,including 11(22.4%)domestic cases and 38(77.6%)imported cases.Nine(81.8%)local cases and 12(31.6%)imported cases had a definitive epidemiological exposure.Twenty-eight(57.1%)were symptomatic and 21(42.9%)were asymptomatic.Neither asymptomatic nor symptomatic cases progressed to severe diseases.The mean duration of viral shedding for SARS-CoV-2 in upper respiratory tract was 14.1±6.4 days in asymptomatic cases and 14.8±8.4 days in symptomatic cases(P>0.05).Forty-five(91.8%)cases had viral RNA detected in stool.The mean duration of viral shedding in stool was 28.1±13.3 days in asymptomatic cases and 30.8±18.6 days in symptomatic participants(P>0.05).Children<7 years shed viral RNA in stool for a longer duration than school-aged children(P<0.05).Forty-three(87.8%)cases had seropositivity for antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 within 1–3 weeks after confirmation with infection.In conclusion,asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection may be common in children in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic wave.Asymptomatic cases shed viral RNA in a similar pattern as symptomatic cases do.It is of particular concern that asymptomatic individuals are potentially seed transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and pose a challenge to disease control. | Jiehao Cai Xiangshi Wang Jun Zhao Yanling Ge Jin Xu He Tian Hailing Chang Aimei Xia Jiali Wang Jinqiang Zhang Zhongqiu Wei Jingjing Li Chuning Wang Jianshe Wang Qirong Zhu Xiaowen Zhai Mei Zeng | 2020 | Virologica Sinica2020,35,6: | 4 |
| 9 | A new tumor-associated antigen prognostic scoring system for spontaneous ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma after partial hepatectomy显示文摘Objective:Spontaneous hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)rupture can be fatal,and hepatic resection could achieve a favorable long-term survival among all strategies of tumor rupture.However,there is no available prognostic scoring system for patients with ruptured HCC who underwent partial hepatectomy.Methods:From January 2005 to May 2015,129 patients with spontaneous HCC rupture underwent partial hepatectomy.Preoperative clinical data were collected and analyzed.Independent risk factors affecting overall survival(OS)were used to develop the new scoring system.Harrell’s C statistics,Akaike information criterion(AIC),the relative likelihood,and the log likelihood ratio were calculated to measure the homogeneity and discriminatory ability of a prognostic system.Results:In the multivariable Cox regression analysis,three factors,including tumor size,preoperativeα-fetoprotein level,and alkaline phosphatase level,were chosen for the new tumor-associated antigen(TAA)prognostic scoring system.The 1-year OS rates were 88.1%,43.2%,and 30.2%for TAA scores of 0–5 points(low-risk group),6–9 points(moderate-risk group),and 10–13points(high-risk group),respectively.The TAA scoring system had superior homogeneity and discriminatory ability(Harrell’s C statistics,0.693 vs.0.627 and 0.634;AIC,794.79 vs.817.23 and 820.16;relative likelihood,both<0.001;and log likelihood ratio,45.21 vs.22.77 and 21.84)than the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer staging system and the Cancer of the Liver Italian Program in predicting OS.Similar results were found while predicting disease-free survival(DFS).Conclusions:The new prognostic scoring system is simple and effective in predicting both OS and DFS of patients with spontaneous ruptured HCC. | Jingjing Wu Peng Zhu Zhanguo Zhang Bixiang Zhang Chang Shu Lin Chen Renjie Feng Abdoul aziz Mba'nbo koumpa Ganxun Li Qianyun Ge | 2018 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2018,15,4: | 4 |

To evaluate the impacts of climate change on ecoregions, the Kdppen-Trewartha (K-T) climate classification [3] is widely used because it was constructed on the basis of surface vegetation. The K-T classification system combines temperature, precipitation, and their seasonality into a single metric. Six major climate types and several sub-climate types are defined (A: tropical, B: dry, C: subtropical, D: temperate, E: subpolar, F: polar). Each K-T climate type is consistent with certain prevalent plant species. And the corresponding modification strategies and device performance are summarized. | 15 | The role of watermelon caffeic acid O-methyltransferase (ClCOMT1) in melatonin biosynthesis and abiotic stress tolerance显示文摘Melatonin is a pleiotropic signaling molecule that regulates plant growth and responses to various abiotic stresses.The last step of melatonin synthesis in plants can be catalyzed by caffeic acid O-methyltransferase(COMT),a multifunctional enzyme reported to have N-acetylserotonin O-methyltransferase(ASMT)activity;however,the ASMT activity of COMT has not yet been characterized in nonmodel plants such as watermelon(Citrullus lanatus).Here,a total of 16 putative O-methyltransferase(ClOMT)genes were identified in watermelon.Among them,ClOMT03(Cla97C07G144540)was considered a potential COMT gene(renamed ClCOMT1)based on its high identities(60.00–74.93%)to known COMT genes involved in melatonin biosynthesis,expression in almost all tissues,and upregulation under abiotic stresses.The ClCOMT1 protein was localized in the cytoplasm.Overexpression of ClCOMT1 significantly increased melatonin contents,while ClCOMT1 knockout using the CRISPR/Cas-9 system decreased melatonin contents in watermelon calli.These results suggest that ClCOMT1 plays an essential role in melatonin biosynthesis in watermelon.In addition,ClCOMT1 expression in watermelon was upregulated by cold,drought,and salt stress,accompanied by increases in melatonin contents.Overexpression of ClCOMT1 enhanced transgenic Arabidopsis tolerance against such abiotic stresses,indicating that ClCOMT1 is a positive regulator of plant tolerance to abiotic stresses. | Jingjing Chang Yanliang Guo Jingyi Yan Zixing Zhang Li Yuan Chunhua Wei Yong Zhang Jianxiang Ma Jianqiang Yang Xian Zhang Hao Li | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 2 |
| 16 | Chronic heat stress induces the disorder of gut transport and immune function associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress in growing pigs显示文摘Although high temperatures influence gut health,data on underlying mechanisms remains scant.Using a pig model,this study performed a global analysis on how chronic heat stress affects the transport and immune function of the gut through transcriptome,proteome,microbial diversity and flow cytometry.A total of 27 pigs with similar body weights were assigned into 3 groups,control(Con)group(23℃),chronic heat stressed(HS)group(33°C),and pair-fed(PF)group,in a controlled environment for 21 days.Our results showed that pigs in the HS group had reduced growth performance and diminished height of ileal villi(P<0.01).Transcriptome and proteome analyses demonstrated notable modification of expression of nutrients and ion transport-related transporters and gut mechanical barrier-related genes by chronic heart stress(P<0.05),suggesting damage of transport functions and the gut barrier.Chronic heat stress-induced endoplasmic reticulum stress also increased the synthesis of misfolded proteins,leading to upregulation of misfolded protein degradation and synthesis,as well as vesicle transport disorder(P<0.05).Energy supply processes were enhanced in the mitochondrion(P<0.05)to maintain biological processes with high energy demands.Furthermore,chronic heat stress activated complement cascade response-related genes and proteins in the gut mucosa(P<0.05).Our flow cytometry assays showed that the proportion of gut lymphocytes(CD4^(+)T cells,T cells,B cells in Peyer’s patch lymphocytes and CD4^(+)CD25^(+)T cells in intraepithelial lymphocytes)were significantly altered in the HS group pigs(P<0.05).In addition,the occurrence of gut microbial dysbiosis in the HS group pigs was characterized by increased potential pathogens(e.g.,Asteroleplasma,Shuttleworthia,Mycoplasma)and suppression of beneficial bacteria(e.g.,Coprococcus and Aeriscardovia),which are associated with gut immune function.Altogether,our data demonstrated that chronic heat stress induced gut transport and immune function disorder associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress in growing pigs. | Shanlong Tang Jingjing Xie Wei Fang Xiaobin Wen Chang Yin Qingshi Meng Ruqing Zhong Liang Chen Hongfu Zhang | 2022 | Animal Nutrition2022,,4: | 2 |
