1Time constraints for the closing of the Paleo-Asian Ocean in the Northern Alxa Region: Evidence from Wuliji granites显示文摘The Wuliji pluton in the Northern Alxa Region, Inner Mongolia, is the principal part of Shalazhashan Mountain. It belongs to the Zongnaishan-Shalazhashan Arc Zone, northwestern North China Plate, whose north is Engger Us Ophiolite Belt and south is Qagan Qulu Ophiolite Belt. The pluton was emplaced into Upper Carboniferous-Lower Permian Amushan Formation. According to the research about the original Carboniferous Amushan Formation, the lower and middle sections of the Carboniferous Amushan Formation consist of volcanic, clastic, and carbonate rocks, interpreted to represent the sedimentary association of a volcanic arc and back-arc basin; the upper section of the Amushan Formation is a molasse composed of silty shale, sandstone, gravel-bearing sandstone, and conglomerate. The Wuliji pluton consists mainly of biotite monzonitic granite, amphibole-bearing biotite monzonitic granite, and monzonitic granite. Geochemical analyses show that the pluton has both metaluminous and peraluminous characteristics, and on average has SiO2>70 wt%, Al2O3 >14 wt%, and high contents of Na2O+K2O (8.5 wt%), which define a calc-alkaline series. In addition, REE patterns show enrichment of LREE and weak negative Eu anomalies (δ Eu=0.3-1). Altogether, the samples are depleted in Nb, Ta, Ti, P, Sr, and Ba, and enriched in Rb, Th, and K. These geochemical traits are interpreted to reflect an arc component. A secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) U-Pb zircon age of the biotite monzonitic Wuliji pluton in the Northern Alxa Region, Inner Mongolia, is 250.8±2.0 Ma (1σ). Samples have ε Nd (t) values between 0.1 and 1.3, which suggests that the granites were derived from mixing between the crust and mantle. Based on the SIMS age and geochemical characteristics, Wuliji granite is interpreted to be a post-collisional granite, the result of mantle-derived melt and assimilated juvenile arc crust. However, according to the newest international stratigraphic classification standard, the upper section of the Amushan Formation is Lower Permian in age, indicating that the back-arc basin had already closed in Early Permian. We conclude that the Paleo-Asian Ocean represented by the Engger Us Ophiolite Belt subducted southward in Late Carboniferous, at the same time that the trench-arc-basin system formed in the Northern Alxa Region. The Paleo-Asian Ocean was closed in Early Permian and the Northern Alxa Region entered a post-collisional period in the Late Permian, as indicated by the Wuliji granites. 2Natural^(15)N abundance in soils and plants in relation to N cycling in a rangeland in Inner Mongolia显示文摘Aims Natural 15N abundance provides integrated information about nitrogen(N)input,transformation and output,indirectly reflecting N cycling traits within terrestrial ecosystems.However,relationships between natural 15N abundance and N cycling processes are poorly understood in China.Here,our primary objectives were to(i)examine the effects of grazing at varying levels of intensity on d15N of soils and plants in a semi-arid grassland;(ii)detect the relationships between d15N of soils and four major N cycling processes(i.e.mineralization,nitrification,denitrification and ammonia volatilization);and(iii)determine whether d15N of soils can be used as an indicator of N cycling in this semi-arid grassland.Methods The field experiment was conducted within the long-term(17-year)grazing enclosures in a semi-arid grassland in Inner Mongolia.Five grazing intensities(0.00,1.33,2.67,4.00 and 5.33 sheep ha1)were designed.d15N values of topsoils(0–10 cm),surface soils(0–2 cm)and plants were measured in 2006.Differences in d15N of soils and plants between the five grazing intensities were examined.Rates of four soil N cycling processes were measured periodically during the 2005 and 2006 growing seasons.The d15N values of topsoils were linked to the four N cycling processes to investigate their relationships.Important Findings The d15N values of topsoils(5.20–5.96&)were substantially higher than the d15N values of plants(2.51–2.93&)and surface soils(1.44–2.92&)regardless of grazing intensities.The 15N-depleted N losses during microbial decomposition of organic matter in concert with the downward movement of residual substrate over time are the possible causes of higher d15N values in topsoils than in surface soils.In addition,the d15N values of topsoils were positively correlated with the d15N values of both plants and surface soils.Grazing,especially the high-intensity grazing(5.33 sheep ha1),resulted in a significant decrease in d15N of surface soils.However,no statistically significant variations in d15N of topsoils and plants were found in response to grazing.The d15N values of topsoils exhibited significant dependence on the cumulative rates of NH3 volatilization,net nitrification and denitrification in 2005 but not in 2006.Yuqing Xu Jicheng He Weixin Cheng Xuerong Xing Linghao Li 2010Journal of Plant Ecology2010,3,3:12
3Mycorrhizal symbiosis modulates the rhizosphere microbiota to promote rhizobia–legume symbiosis显示文摘Plants establish symbioses with mutualistic fungi,such as arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungi,and bacteria,such as rhizobia,to exchange key nutrients and thrive.Plants and symbionts have coevolved and represent vital components of terrestrial ecosystems.Plants employ an ancestral AM signaling pathway to establish intracellular symbioses,including the legume–rhizobia symbiosis,in their roots.Nevertheless,the relationship between the AM and rhizobial symbioses in native soil is poorly understood.Here,we examined how these distinct symbioses affect root-associated bacterial communities in Medicago truncatula by performing quantitative microbiota profiling(QMP)of 16S rRNA genes.We found that M.truncatula mutants that cannot establish AM or rhizobia symbiosis have an altered microbial load(quantitative abundance)in the rhizosphere and roots,and in particular that AM symbiosis is required to assemble a normal quantitative root-associated microbiota in native soil.Moreover,quantitative microbial co-abundance network analyses revealed that AM symbiosis affects Rhizobiales hubs among plant microbiota and benefits the plant holobiont.Through QMP of rhizobial rpoB and AM fungal SSU rRNA genes,we revealed a new layer of interaction whereby AM symbiosis promotes rhizobia accumulation in the rhizosphere of M.truncatula.We further showed that AM symbiosis-conditioned microbial communities within the M.truncatula rhizosphere could promote nodulation in different legume plants in native soil.Given that the AM and rhizobial symbioses are critical for crop growth,our findings might inform strategies to improve agricultural management.Moreover,our work sheds light on the co-evolution of these intracellular symbioses during plant adaptation to native soil conditions.Xiaolin Wang Huan Feng Yayu Wang Mingxing Wang Xingguang Xie Huizhong Chang Like Wang Jicheng Qu Kai Sun Wei He Chunyan Wang Chuanchao Dai Zhaohui Chu Changfu Tian Nan Yu Xuebin Zhang Huan Liu Ertao Wang 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,3:6
4Suitable Heat Transfer Model for Self-Similar Laminar Boundary Layer in Power Law Fluids显示文摘The classical power law non-Newtonian fluids energy boundary layer equation is proved improper to describe the self-similar heat transfer. A theoretical analysis for momentum and energy boundary layer transfer behavior is made and the full similarity heat boundary layer equation is developed, which may be characterized by a power law relationship between shear stress and velocity gradient with the Falkner-Skan equation as a special case. 6Preparation and SO2 Adsorption Behavior of Coconut Shell-Based Activated Carbon via Microwave-Assisted Oxidant Activation显示文摘A series of oxidants supported on coconut shell-based activated carbon(CAC) through microwave irradiation were prepared and characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), N_2 adsorption/desorption analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The SO_2 adsorption capacities and rates were evaluated by adsorption tests performed in a fixed bed reactor with a simulated flue gas, and the adsorption isotherm models were validated against the experimental results. The findings revealed that the SO_2 adsorption capacity decreased in the following order: MW-K_2Cr_2O_7-CAC > MWKMnO_4-CAC > MW-H_2O_2-CAC > MW-CAC. The SO_2 adsorption capacities and adsorption rates of the samples increased with an increasing oxidizability of the oxidants owing to the increment of mean pore size and oxygen-containing functional groups. In addition, a high initial SO_2 concentration and a low bed temperature could positively affect the SO2 adsorption. 7Momentum and Heat Transfer in Laminar Boundary Layer Behind Shock Wave显示文摘Analytical and numerical solutions are established for momentum and energy laminar boundary layer induced by a shock wave. The results indicated that skin friction σ decreases with increasing in velocity ratio ξ(1≤ξ< 6). For each specified ξ(1≤ξ< 6), temperature w(t) increases with increasing of Tw but decreases with Te , and for a range of t ∈[1,ξ], w(t) decreases with the increasing of t. 8Nucleation and Growth Kinetics of MgO in Molten Steel显示文摘The size,number,morphology and type of inclusion particles are the key factors to estimate the quality of steel product.Although considerable efforts have been made in the mathematical modeling of inclusion growth,few papers were involved in inclusion s nucleation and collision-growth,and all the existing researches about the behaviors of magnesia inclusion were based on the experiments.Thus,a mathematical model was developed to investigate the nucleation,Ostwald ripening and collision-growth of magnesia inclusion in the molten steel.Numerical results showed that the predicted particle size distributions are consistent with the previous experimental data.For the magnesia inclusions smaller than 100 nm,Brownian collision is the main collision modes.For the inclusions ranging from 0.1 to 10 μm,Brownian collision and turbulent collision are the main collision modes.For the inclusions ranging from 10 to 100 μm,turbulent collision and Stokes collision are the main collision modes.Thus,the strong turbulent flow can decrease the peak-value diameter of the magnesia inclusion effectively.Hong Lei Jicheng He 2012Journal of Materials Science & Technology2012,28,7:2
9Effect of electromagnetic swirling flow in slide-gate SEN on flow field in square billet continuous casting mold显示文摘In order to weaken the bias flow in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) with slide-gate, the rotating magnetic field was imposed. The numerical method was employed to investigate the effect of rotating magnetic field on the flow field in the SEN and the mold under different slide-gate opening ratios. Numerical results showed that when the slide-gate opening ratio is smaller than 100%, the flow field in the SEN and the mold become asymmetry and there is an obvious circulation under the slidegate in the SEN. With increasing exciting current, the divergent angle of liquid steel at the SEN outlet increases, the impact depth of liquid steel in the mold decreases. 14Effect of Co element on microstructure and mechanical properties of FeCo_x NiCuAl alloys显示文摘FeCox NiCuAl (x values in molar ratio, x=0.2, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and 3) alloys were prepared using a suck-casting method. The effect of Co element on phase constituents, microstructure and mechanical properties of the FeCox NiCuAl alloys was investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy and compressive tests. It was found that the Co addition has a significant influence on the structure and properties of the FeCox NiCuAl alloys. The alloys have typical dendrite microstructure, and are composed of a simple fcc structure and bcc structure.
