| 1 | Three-dimensional chiral microstructures fabricated by structured optical vortices in isotropic material显示文摘Optical vortices,a type of structured beam with helical phase wavefronts and‘doughnut’-shaped intensity distributions,have been used to fabricate chiral structures in metals and spiral patterns in anisotropic polarization-dependent azobenzene polymers.However,in isotropic polymers,the fabricated microstructures are typically confined to non-chiral cylindrical geometry due to the two-dimensional‘doughnut’-shaped intensity profile of the optical vortices.Here we develop a powerful strategy to realize chiral microstructures in isotropic material by coaxial interference of a vortex beam and a plane wave,which produces threedimensional(3D)spiral optical fields.These coaxial interference beams are generated by designing contrivable holograms consisting of an azimuthal phase and an equiphase loaded on a liquid-crystal spatial light modulator.In isotropic polymers,3D chiral microstructures are achieved under illumination using coaxial interference femtosecond laser beams with their chirality controlled by the topological charge.Our further investigation reveals that the spiral lobes and chirality are caused by interfering patterns and helical phase wavefronts,respectively.This technique is simple,stable and easy to perform,and it offers broad applications in optical tweezers,optical communications and fast metamaterial fabrication. | Jincheng Ni Chaowei Wang Chenchu Zhang Yanlei Hu Liang Yang Zhaoxin Lao Bing Xu Jiawen Li Dong Wu Jiaru Chu | 2017 | Light(Science & Applications)2017,6,1: | 28 |
| 2 | Electromagnetic chirality:from fundamentals to nontraditional chiroptical phenomena显示文摘Chirality arises universally across many different fields.Recent advancements in artificial nanomaterials have demonstrated chiroptical responses that far exceed those found in natural materials.Chiroptical phenomena are complicated processes that involve transitions between states with opposite parities,and solid interpretations of these observations are yet to be clearly provided.In this review,we present a comprehensive overview of the theoretical aspects of chirality in light,nanostructures,and nanosystems and their chiroptical interactions.Descriptions of observed chiroptical phenomena based on these fundamentals are intensively discussed.We start with the strong intrinsic and extrinsic chirality in plasmonic nanoparticle systems,followed by enantioselective sensing and optical manipulation,and then conclude with orbital angular momentum-dependent responses.This review will be helpful for understanding the mechanisms behind chiroptical phenomena based on underlying chiral properties and useful for interpreting chiroptical systems for further studies. | Jungho Mun Minkyung Kim Younghwan Yang Trevon Badloe Jincheng Ni Yang Chen Cheng-Wei Qiu Junsuk Rho | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 13 |
| 3 | Improved electrical properties of the two-dimensional electron gas in AlGaN/GaN heterostructures using high temperature AlN interlayers显示文摘The electrical properties of two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in AlGaN/GaN heterostructures using high temperature (HT) AlN interlayers (ITs) grown on c-plane sapphire substrate by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) have been investigated.It is found that the electrical properties (electron mobility and sheet carrier density) are improved compared with those in the conventional AlGaN/GaN heterostructures without HT AlN ITs,and the improved 2DEG properties result in the reduction of the sheet resistance.The results from high resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) and Raman spectroscopy measurements show that HT AlN ITs increase the in-plane compressive strain in the upper GaN layer,which enhances the piezoelectric polarization in it and consequently causes increasing of 2DEG density at the AlGaN/GaN interface.Meanwhile,the compressive strain induced by HT AlN ITs leads to a less tensile strain in AlGaN barrier layer and causes positive and negative effects on the sheet carrier density of 2DEG,which counteract each other.The HT AlN ITs reduce the lattice mismatch between the GaN and AlGaN layers and smooth the interface between them,thus increasing the electric mobility of 2DEG by weakening the alloy-related interface roughness and scattering.In addition,the surface morphology of AlGaN/GaN heterostructures is improved by the insertion of HT AlN ITs.The reason for the improved properties is discussed in this paper. | XUE JunShuai,HAO Yue,ZHANG JinCheng & NI JinYu Key Laboratory of Wide Band-Gap Semiconductors and Devices,School of Microelectronics,Xidian University,Xi’an 710071,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,6: | 4 |
| 4 | Dynamic Airy imaging through high_efficiency broadband phase microelements by femtosecond laser direct writing显示文摘Manipulating Airy beams to symmetric Airy beams(SABs)with abruptly autofocusing and self accelerating properties has attracted much attention.With such a particular propagation dynamic,SABs may provide great potential in dynamic signal imaging.On the other hand,the generation of SABs by spatial light modulators suffers from the limitations of phase gradient accuracy,low optical efficiency(<40%),and a bulky footprint.Therefore,exploring imaging applications and optimal generation methods of these Airy-type beams deserves further research.Here,based on the coordinate transformation of SAB,an asymmetric Airy beam(AAB)is realized.Symmetric/asymmetric cubic phase microplates(SCPPs/ACPPs)are designed and fabricated for generating SAB/AAB.The SCPP/ACPP demonstrates superior performance:compact construction(60μm × 60μm × 1.1μm),continuous variation of phase,high efficiency(~81%at 532 nm),and broadband operation from 405 to 780 nm.Dynamic imaging under monochromatic and polychromatic lights is realized by the SAB/AAB,indicating various results at different propagation distances with a certain initial signal.Further investigation reveals that the SCPP on a soft substrate maintains its physical dimensions and optical properties unchanged during stretching.Our work enables wide potential applications in integrated optics,beam manipulation,and imaging. | ZE CAI XINBO QI DENG PAN SHENGYUN JI JINCHENG NI ZHAOXIN LAO CHEN XIN JIAWEN LI YANLEI HU DONG Wu JIARU CHI | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,6: | 3 |

| 6 | Effect of reactor pressure on the growth rate and structural properties of GaN films显示文摘The effect of reactor pressure on the growth rate, surface morphology and crystalline quality of GaN films grown on sapphire by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition is studied. The results show that as the reactor pressure increases from 2500 to 20000 Pa, the GaN surface becomes rough and the growth rate of GaN films decreases. The rough surface morphology is associated with the initial high temperature GaN islands, which are large with low density due to low adatom surface diffusion under high reactor pressure. These islands prolong the occurrence of 2D growth mode and decrease the growth rate of GaN film. | 7 | Study of GaN MOS-HEMT using ultrathin Al_2O_3 dielectric grown by atomic layer deposition显示文摘We report on a GaN metal-oxide-semiconductor high electron mobility transistor (MOS-HEMT) using atomic-layer deposited (ALD) Al2O3 as the gate dielectric. Through further decreasing the thickness of the gate oxide to 3.5 nm and optimizing the device fabrication process,a device with maximum transconductance of 150 mS/mm was produced. The drain current of this 0.8 μm gate-length MOS-HEMT could reach 800 mA/mm at +3.0 V gate bias. | 10 | The mobility of two-dimensional electron gas in AlGaN/GaN heterostructures with varied Al content显示文摘The mobility of the two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in AlGaN/GaN heterostructures changes significantly with Al content in the AlGaN barrier layer, while few mechanism analyses focus on it. Theoretical calculation and analysis of the 2DEG mobility in AlGaN/GaN heterostructures with varied Al content are carried out based on the recently reported experimental data. The 2DEG mobility is modeled analytically as the total effects of the scattering mechanisms including acoustic deformation-potential, piezoelectric, polar optic phonon, alloy disorder, interface roughness, dislocation and remote modulation doping scattering. We show that the increase of the 2DEG density, caused by the ascension of the Al content in the barrier layer, is a dominant factor that leads to the changes of the individual scattering processes. The change of the 2DEG mobility with Al content are mainly determined by the interface roughness scattering and the alloy disorder scattering at 77 K, and the polar optic phonon scattering and the interface roughness scattering at the room temperature. | 11 | A Cognitive Analysis of English N+N Compounding Words From the Perspective of Image Schema显示文摘English N + N compounds, showing a complicated construction of meaning, can be divided into two categories: coordinate compounds and attribute-head compounds. As cognitive linguistics develops, many scholars conduct their researches by using cognitive mechanisms like conceptual blending theory and categorization. However, few scholars reveal N + N compounds’ meaning construction mechanism by applying principles of image schema. This study aims to explore the meanings of English compounds from the perspective of image schema. High-frequency coordinate and attribute-head compounds are selected from the Large Database of English Compounds (LADEC), and their meanings are analyzed based on schemas existing among them. It is found that word meaning can be constructed according to its corresponding image schema, and the meaning of a compounding word is closely related to human cognition. | 20 | Development and characteristic analysis of enhancement-mode recessed-gate AlGaN/GaN HEMT显示文摘Fabrication of enhancement-mode high electron mobility transistors on AlGaN/GaN heterostructures grown on sapphire substrates is reported. These devices with 1 μm gate-length, 10 nm recessed-gate depth, 4 μm distance of source and drain ex-hibit a maximum drain current of 233 mA/mm at 1.5 V, a maximum transconduc-tance of 210 mS/mm, and a threshold voltage of 0.12 V. The threshold voltage of these devices increased to 0.53 V after 500 ℃ 5 min annealing in N2 ambient. The saturation drain current and transconductance of 15 nm recessed-gate depth re-duced compared to those of 10 nm recessed-gate depth, but the threshold voltage increased to 0.47 V.
