| 1 | Host genetic factors affecting hepatitis B infection outcomes:Insights from genome-wide association studies显示文摘The clinical outcome of hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection depends on the success or failure of the immune responses to HBV,and varies widely among individuals,ranging from asymptomatic self-limited infection,inactive carrier state,chronic hepatitis,cirrhosis,hepatocellular carcinoma,to liver failure,depending on the success or failure of immune response to HBV.Genome-wide association studies(GWAS) identified key genetic factors influencing the pathogenesis of HBV-related traits.In this review,we discuss GWAS for persistence of HBV infection,antibody response to hepatitis B vaccine,and HBV-related advanced liver diseases.HBV persistence is associated with multiple genes with diverse roles in immune mechanisms.The strongest associations are found within the classical human leukocyte antigen(HLA) genes,highlighting the central role of antigen presentation in the immune response to HBV.Associated variants affect both epitope binding specificities and expression levels of HLA molecules.Several other susceptibility genes regulate the magnitude of adaptive immune responses,determining immunity vs tolerance.HBV persistence and nonresponse to vaccine share the same risk variants,implying overlapping genetic bases.On the other hand,the risk variants for HBV-related advanced liver diseases are largely different,suggesting different host-virus dynamics in acute vs chronic HBV infections.The findings of these GWAS are likely to pave the way for developing more effective preventive and therapeutic interventions by personalizing the management of HBV infection. | Izzet Mehmet Akcay Seyma Katrinli Kamil Ozdil Gizem Dinler Doganay Levent Doganay | 2018 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2018，24，30： | 6 |
| 2 | Dysentery caused by Balantidium coliin a patient with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma from Turkey显示文摘Balantidium coli is the only parasitic ciliate of man. It is a flattened oval organism covered with cilia, and a gullet at the anterior end. It is infrequently pathogenic for man,although epidemic buds in tropical zones have been described. The infection fundamentally affects the colon and causes variable clinic pictures, from asymptomatic to serious dysenteric forms. This new procedure formed a 30 μm thick boride layer on the surface with subsurface matrix structure consisted of acicular ferrite and retained austenite. | 4 | Specific energy optimization in sawing of rocks using Taguchi approach显示文摘This work aims at selecting optimal operating variables to obtain the minimum specific energy(SE) in sawing of rocks.A particular granite was sampled and sawn by a fully automated circular diamond sawblades.The peripheral speed,the traverse speed,the cut depth and the flow rate of cooling fluid were selected as the operating variables.Taguchi approach was adopted as a statistical design of experimental technique for optimization studies.The results were evaluated based on the analysis of variance and signal-to-noise ratio(S/N ratio).Statistically significant operating variables and their percentage contribution to the process were also determined.Additionally,a statistical model was developed to demonstrate the relationship between SE and operating variables using regression analysis and the model was then verified.It was found that the optimal combination of operating variables for minimum SE is the peripheral speed of 25 m/s,the traverse speed of 70 cm/min,the cut depth of 2 cm and the flow rate of cooling fluid of 100 mL/s.The cut depth and traverse speed were statistically determined as the significant operating variables affecting the SE,respectively.Furthermore,the regression model results reveal that the predictive model has a high applicability for practical applications. | Izzet Karakurt | 2014 | Journal of Central South University2014，21，1： | 2 |

| 6 | Oxidative stress in portal hypertension-induced rats with particular emphasis on nitric oxide and trace metals显示文摘AIM: To investigate the oxidative-stress-related changes in rats with portal hypertension with particular emphasis on nitric oxide (NO) and trace metals. METHODS: Cirrhosis was induced by partial portal vein ligation (PVL) in Wistar rats. The lipid peroxidation marker (malondialdehyde, MDA), antioxidant defense enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione (GSH), and agents known to have antioxidant features including nitric oxide (NO), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu) were determined both in serum and in liver tissue at 4 wk after surgery in PVL and sham-operated rats. Portal pressure of all experimental animals was measured. MDA was detected by thiobarbituric acid reactivity assay.SOD activity was determined by inhibition of nitroblue tetrazolium reduction with xanthine/xanthine oxidase used asa superoxide generator. CAT activity was determined by the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide. GSH concentrations were measured by using metaphosphoric acid for protein precipitation and 5'-5'-dithio-bis-2-nitrobenzoic acid for color development. NO was detected by the Griess method after reduction of nitrate to nitrite with nitrate reductase, and the concentrations of Zn and Cu were measured by a Shimadzu 680 AA atomic absorption spectrometer. Histopathological confirmation was done under light microscope. Statistical analyses were done by Student's t-test, and significance of the difference was tested by the unpaired Mann-Whitney test. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.RESULTS: Histopathological studies confirmed PVL induced cirrhotic changes. There was a statistically significant difference in portal pressure between PVL and control groups (P<0.001). The results showed significant increases in the levels of MDA and NO in both tissue and serum (P<0.05 and P<0.001, respectively in tissue; P<0.001 for each in serum), and Zn only in tissue (P<0.001)in rats with PVL compared with sham-operated rats. Besides, PVL rats exhibited reduced plasma and tissue GSH, CAT, SOD (P<0.001 for each).
