| 2 | Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging for focal liver lesions in Chinese patients:a multicenter,open-label,phase Ⅲ study显示文摘BACKGROUND:Contrast agents help to improve visibility in magnetic resonance(MR)imaging.However,owing to the large interstitial spaces of the liver,there is a reduction in the natural contrast gradient between lesions and healthy tissue.This study was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the liverspecific MR imaging contrast agent gadoxetate disodium(GdEOB-DTPA)in Chinese patients.METHODS:This was a single-arm,open-label,multicenter study in patients with known or suspected focal liver lesions referred for contrast-enhanced MR imaging.MR imaging was performed in 234 patients before and after a single intravenous bolus of Gd-EOB-DTPA(0.025 mmol/kg body weight).Images were evaluated by clinical study investigators and three independent,blinded radiologists.The primary efficacy endpoint was sensitivity in lesion detection.RESULTS:Gd-EOB-DTPA improved sensitivity in lesion detection by 9.46%compared with pre-contrast imaging for the average of the three blinded readers(94.78%vs 85.32%for Gd-EOB-DTPA vs pre-contrast,respectively).Improvements in detection were more pronounced in lesions less than 1cm.Gd-EOB-DTPA improved diagnostic accuracy in lesion classification.CONCLUSIONS:This open-label study demonstrated that Gd-EOB-DTPA improves diagnostic sensitivity in liver lesions,particularly in those smaller than 1 cm.Gd-EOB-DTPA also significantly improves the diagnostic accuracy in lesion classification,and furthermore,Gd-EOB-DTPA is safe in Chinese patients with liver lesions. | Meng-Su Zeng Hui-Yi Ye Liang Guo Wei-Jun Peng Jian-Ping Lu Gao-Jun Teng Josy Breuer Yi Huan Ping Li Jian-Rong Xu Chang-Hong Liang | 2013 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2013,12,6: | 31 |
| 3 | Artesunate synergizes with sorafenib to induce ferroptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Sorafenib is the first-line medication for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),but it can only extend limited survival.It is imperative to find a combination strategy to increase sorafenib efficacy.Artesunate is such a preferred candidate,because artesunate is clinically well-tolerated and more importantly both drugs can induce ferroptosis through different mechanisms.In this study we investigated the combined effect of sorafenib and artesunate in inducing ferroptosis of HCC and elucidated the involved molecular mechanisms.We showed that artesunate greatly enhanced the anticancer effects of low dose of sorafenib against Huh7,SNU-449,and SNU-182 HCC cell lines in vitro and against Huh7 cell xenograft model in Balb/c nude mice.The combination index method confirmed that the combined effect of sorafenib and artesunate was synergistic.Compared with the treatment with artesunate or sorafenib alone,combined treatment induced significantly exacerbated lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis,which was blocked by N-acetyl cysteine and ferroptosis inhibitors liproxstatin-1 and deferoxamine mesylate,but not by inhibitors of other types of cell death(z-VAD,necrostatin-1 and belnacasan).In Huh7 cells,we demonstrated that the combined treatment induced oxidative stress and lysosome-mediated ferritinophagy,two essential aspects of ferroptosis.Sorafenib at low dose mainly caused oxidative stress through mitochondrial impairments and SLC7A11-invovled glutathione depletion.Artesunate-induced lysosome activation synergized with sorafenib-mediated pro-oxidative effects by promoting sequential reactions including lysosomal cathepsin B/L activation,ferritin degradation,lipid peroxidation,and consequent ferroptosis.Taken together,artesunate could be repurposed to sensitize sorafenib in HCC treatment.The combined treatment can be easily translated into clinical applications. | Zhong-jie Li Hui-qi Dai Xiao-wei Huang Ji Feng Jing-huan Deng Zi-xuan Wang Xiao-mei Yang Yu-jia Liu Yong Wu Pan-hong Chen Huan Shi Ji-gang Wang Jing Zhou Guo-dong Lu | 2021 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,2: | 31 |

| 6 | Activation of SIRT1 ameliorates LPS-induced lung injury in mice via decreasing endothelial tight junction permeability显示文摘The integrity of the endothelial barrier is a determinant of the prognosis of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI). In this study, we investigated whether and how Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) maintained the vascular integrity during ALI. An experimental model of ALI was established in mice through intratracheal administration of LPS (10 mg/kg). LPS stimulation significantly increased the pulmonary permeability and decreased the expression of SIRT1 and tight junction proteins (TJs), including occludin, claudin-5, tight junction protein 1 and tight junction protein 2. Morphological studies showed that LPS induced obvious lung injury with inammatory cell infiltration in the interstitial and alveolar space, hemorrhage, edema, and the thickened alveolar wall compared to the control mice. Intratracheal administration of the selective SIRT1 activator SRT1720 (6.25 mg/kg) significantly attenuated LPS- induced lung injury, lung hyper-permeability and increased TJs expression, whereas intratracheal administration of the selective SIRT1 inhibitor EX527 (6.25 mg/kg) aggravated LPS-induced ALI. Similar protective effects of SIRT1 on pulmonary cellular permeability were observed in primary human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells treated with LPS (2 mg/mL) in vitro. We further demonstrated that the RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway was activated in SIRT1 regulation of tight junction permeability. The RhoA/ROCK inhibitor Y-27632 (10 μM) increased the expression of TJs and reversed LPS- or EX527-induced hyper-permeability. In conclusion, SIRT1 ameliorates LPS-induced lung injury via decreasing endothelial tight junction permeability, possibly via RhoA/ ROCK signaling pathway. | 7 | Early kidney injury during long-term adefovir dipivoxil therapy for chronic hepatitis B显示文摘AIM: To evaluate urine β2-microglobulin(β2-M), retinol-binding protein(RBP) excretion, and renal impairment with adefovir dipivoxil(ADV) for chronic hepatitis B. METHODS: We enrolled 165 patients with chronic hepatitis B infection who were treated with ADV monotherapy(n = 90) or ADV plus lamivudine combination therapy(n = 75). An additional 165 chronic hepatitis B patients treated with entecavir were recruited as controls. We detected serum creatinine, urine β2-M, and RBP levels, and estimated the glomerular filtration rate(e GFR) at the initiation of antiviral therapy and every 6 mo for a period of five years. RESULTS: Urine β2-M abnormalities were observed in patients during the first(n = 3), second(n = 7), third(n = 11), fourth(n = 16), and fifth(n = 21) year of ADV treatment. Urinary RBP abnormalities were observed in patients during the first(n = 2), second(n = 8), third(n = 12), fourth(n = 15), and fifth(n = 22) year of ADV treatment. e GFR decreased 20%-30% from baseline in 20 patients, 30%-50% in 12 patients, and > 50% in 3 patients during the five years of treatment. Further analysis indicated that decreases in e GFR of ≥ 30% relative to the baseline level correlated significantly with urine RBP and β2-M abnormalities. In contrast, both serum creatinine and e GFR remained stable in patients treated with entecavir, and only one of these patients developed a urine β2-M abnormality, and two developed urine RBP abnormalities during the five years of treatment. | 9 | Soil Erosion Changes over the Past Five Decades in the Red Soil Region of Southern China显示文摘This paper reports the dynamic changes of soil and water loss in the red soil region of Southern China since the 1950s. The red soil region covers eight provinces: Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Hainan. From the 1950s to 1986, the annual rate of soil erosion increased by 3.4%. From 1986 to 1996 and from 1996 to 2000, the annual rates of soil erosion decreased by 2.0% and 0.32%, respectively. Field surveys showed that from 2000 to 2005, the area of soil and water loss decreased annually by 1.2%. This decrease was a result of large-scale erosion control activities across China. Although the eroded soil has been restored, the restoration process is very slow and full restoration will take a long time. | 12 | LA-ICP-MS Zircon U-Pb Dating of Intermediate-Acidic Intrusive Rocks and Molybdenite Re-Os Dating from the Bangpu Mo (Cu) Deposit, Tibet and its Geological Implication显示文摘The multi-stage intrusions of intermediate-acid magma occur in the Bangpu mining district, the petrogenic ages of which have been identified. The times and sequences of their emplacement have been collated and stipulated in detail in this paper by using the laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) zircon U-Pb dating method. The ages of biotite monzogranite that were formed before mineralization in the southwest of this mining district are 70±1 Ma (mean square of weighted deviates (MSWD) =9.5, n=8) and 60.60±0.31 Ma (MSWD=3.8, n=16), which belong to the late Cretaceous-early Paleocene in age. That means, they are products of an early tectonicmagmatic event of the collision between the Indian and Asian continentals. The ages of ore-bearing monzogranite porphyry and ore-bearing diorite porphyrite are 16.23±0.19 Ma (MSWD=2.0, n=26) and 15.16±0.09 Ma (MSWD=3.9, n=5) separately, which belong to the middle Miocene in age; namely, they are products of the Gangdese post-collision extensional stage when crust-mantle materials melted and mixed as well as magmatic intrusion simultaneously occurred. Some zircons with ages of 203.6±2.2 Ma (MSWD=1.18, n=7) were captured in the ore-bearing diorite porphyrite, which shows that there had been tectono-magmatic events in the late Triassic-early Jurassic. Molybdenum (copper) ore-bodies produced in the monzogranite porphyry and copper (molybdenum) ore-bodies produced in the diorite porphyrite are the main ore types in this ore deposit. The model ages of Re-Os isotopic dating for the 11 molybdenite are 13.97-15.84 Ma, while isochron ages are 14.09±0.49 Ma (MSWD=26). The isochron ages of seven molybdenite from molybdenum (copper) ore with monzogranite porphyry type are 14.11±0.31 Ma (MSWD=5.2). There is great error in the isochron ages of four molybdenite from copper (molybdenum) ore with diorite porphyrite type, and their weighted average model ages of 14.6±1.2 Ma (MSWD=41), which generally represent the mineralization age. The results about the Re-Os isotopic dating of molybdenite in the ore of different types have limited exactly that, the minerlazation age of this ore deposits is about 14.09 Ma, which belongs to the middle Miocene mineralization. | 13 | Glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor mRNA expression in a rat model of spinal cord injury following bone marrow stromal cell transplantation显示文摘BACKGROUND: Several animal experiments utilizing bone marrow stromal cell (BMSC) transplantation for the treatment of spinal cord injury have proposed a hypothesis that BMSC transplantation effects are associated with increased glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) expression. OBJECTIVE: To confirm the effects of BMSC transplantation on GDNF mRNA expression in rats with spinal cord injury by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The present molecular, cell biology experiment was performed at the Key Laboratory of Children's Congenital Malformation, Ministry of Health of China & Department of Developmental Biology, Basic Medical College, China Medical University between March 2006 and May 2007. MATERIALS: Sixty healthy Wistar rats aged 2-4-months and of either gender were included in this study. Spinal cord injury was induced in all rats by hemisection of T9 on the left side. RT-PCR kits were purchased from TaKaRa Company, China. Type 9600 RCR amplifier was provided by PerkinElmer Company, USA. METHODS: Three rats were selected for BMSC culture and subsequent transplantation (after three passages). Of the remaining 57 rats, nine were selected for sham-operation (sham-operated group), where only the T9 spinal cord was exposed without hemisection. A total of 48 rats were randomly and evenly divided into BMSC transplantation and model groups. In the BMSC transplantation group, following spinal cord injury induction, each rat was administered a BMSC suspension through two injection sites selected on the gray and white matter boundary caudally and cephalically, seperately and near to injury site in the spinal cord. The model group received an equal volume of PBS through the identical injection sites. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: At 24 and 72 hours, as well as at 7 days, following spinal cord injury, the spinal cord at the T 9 segment was removed. Eight rats were allocated to each time point in the BMSC transplantation and model groups, with three rats allocated to the sham-operated group. GDNF mRNA expression was semiquantitatively analyzed by RT-PCR. RESULTS: The sham-operated group exhibited extremely low GDNF mRNA expression. GDNF mRNA expression significantly increased at 24 hours after spinal cord injury, reached a peak level at 72 hours, and slowly decreased thereafter. However, it remained higher than normal levels at 7 days (P < 0.05). At all time points following spinal cord injury, GDNF mRNA expression was significantly greater in the BMSC transplantation group than in the model group (P < 0.05). | 15 | Recent development of a refined multiple air pollutant emission inventory of vehicles in the Central Plains of China显示文摘Central Plains region of China,represented by Henan Province,is facing serious air pollution problems.Vehicular exhaust emissions had adverse impacts on the atmospheric environment.The first comprehensive and novel vehicle emission inventory for Henan Province using vehicle kilometers traveled,localized emission factors,and activity data at city-level was developed.Furthermore,3 km×3 km gridded emission and temporal variations were determined by using localized information.Results show that the total emissions of sulfur dioxide(SO2),nitrogen oxides(NOx),carbon monoxide(CO),particular matter with aerodynamic diameter<10μm(PM10),aerodynamic diameter<2.5μm(PM2.5),volatile organic compounds(VOCs),VOCs-evaporation and ammonia in 2015 were 9.1,533.4,1190.7,23.7,21.6,150.8,31.5 and 10.4 Gg,respectively,and the emission intensities of the above pollutants were 0.05,2.7,6.0,0.1,0.1,0.8,0.2 and 0.05 g/km,respectively.Vehicles meeting the Primary China 1,China 3 and China 4 contributed 89.1%,82.7%,75.3%,75.5%,75.5%,68.2%,68.4%and 82.3%for SO2,NOx,CO,PM10,PM2.5,VOCs,VOCs-evaporation and ammonia emissions,respectively.Zhengzhou,Zhoukou,Nanyang,Luoyang,Shangqiu and Xinyang showed relatively higher emissions and contributed more than 50%of each pollutant.The spatial distribution indicated obvious characteristics of the road network,and high-level emission was concentrated in the downtown areas.Additionally,the ozone formation potential(OFP)based on the estimated speciated VOC emissions was 569.6 Gg in Henan Province.Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons were the main species of VOCs,whereas olefins contributed the largest proportion of OFP,with 42.2%. | Xingke Gu Shasha Yin Xuan Lu Huan Zhang Lingling Wang Ling Bai Chen Wang Ruiqin Zhang Minghao Yuan | 2019 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,10: | 11 |

| 19 | Changes in Temporal Concentration Property of Summer Precipitation in China during 1961–2010 Based on a New Index显示文摘Based on the property of entropy,a new index Q was defined to measure the temporal concentration property of summertime daily rainfall in China,based on daily precipitation data collected at 553 observation stations in China during 1961–2010.Furthermore,changes in the temporal concentration property of summer precipitation in China were investigated.The results indicate that the regions with larger Q values were located in most parts of Northwest China and the north of the Yellow River,where daily precipitation tended to become temporally concentrated during the study period.On the contrary,smaller Q values were found in eastern Tibetan Plateau,southeastern Northwest China,and most parts of Southwest and South China.The most obvious increasing trend of Q index was found in South China and most parts of Southwest China,where precipitation showed a temporal concentration trend.However,a decreasing trend of Q index was found in Northwest China,the Tibetan Plateau,and the north of the Huaihe River.Variations of the Q index and the summer rainfall total during 1961–2010 in China both exhibited an increasing trend,implying larger temporal variability in rainfall attributes.It is illustrated that the summer precipitation in general became more temporally concentrated with more intense rainfall events and wetter days. | Hui LI Panmao ZHAI Er LU Wei ZHAO Yang CHEN Huan WANG | 2017 | Journal of Meteorological Research2017,31,2: | 9 |
