3Biomass accumulation of Panax vietnamensis in cell suspension cultures varies with addition of plant growth regulators and organic additives显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the impact of plant growth regulators including kinetin(KN),benzyl adenine and naphthalene acetic acid, yeast extract and casein hydrolyzate on biomass accumulation of Vietnamese ginseng Panax vietnamensis(P. vietnamensis) in cell suspension culture.Methods: Cell suspension cultures were established from friable calluses derived from leaves and petioles of 3-year-old in-vitro P. vietnamensis plants. The cell suspension cultures were grown in Murashige and Skoog basal media supplemented with various concentrations of KN, benzyl adenine, naphthalene acetic acid, and yeast extract and casein hydrolyzate.Results: All tested factors generated an increase in the cell biomass of P. vietnamensis in suspension culture, but the impact of each varies depended on the factor type, concentration, and incubation period. Addition of 2.0 mg/L KN resulted in the largest biomass increase after 24 d,(57.0 ± 0.9) and(3.1 ± 0.1) mg/m L fresh and dry weight, respectively,whereas addition of benzyl adenine or naphthalene acetic acid produced optimum levels of Panax cell biomass at 1.0 and 1.5 mg/L, respectively. Addition of the elicitor yeast extract led to a 1.4–2.4 fold increase in biomass of P. vietnamensis, while addition of casein hydrolyzate enhanced biomass accumulation 1.8–2.6 fold.Conclusions: The addition of each factor causes significant changes in biomass accumulation of P. vietnamensis. The largest biomass accumulation is from cultures grown in MS media containing 2.0 mg/L KN for 24 d. 6Potential application of high pressure carbon dioxide in treated wastewater and water disinfection:Recent overview and further trends显示文摘Recently emerging disadvantages in conventional disinfection have heightened the need for finding a new solution. Developments in the use of high pressure carbon dioxide for food preservation and sterilization have led to a renewed interest in its applicability in wastewater treatment and water disinfection. Pressurized CO2 is one of the most investigated methods of antibacterial treatment and has been used extensively for decades to inhibit pathogens in dried food and liquid products. This study reviews the literature concerning the utility of CO2 as a disinfecting agent, and the pathogen inactivation mechanism of CO2 treatment is evaluated based on all available research. In this paper, it will be argued that the successful application and high effectiveness of CO2 treatment in liquid foods open a potential opportunity for its use in wastewater treatment and water disinfection. The findings from models with different operating conditions(pressure, temperature, microorganism, water content, media …) suggest that most microorganisms are successfully inhibited under CO2 treatment. 8Acupuncture for Hot Flashes:A Literature Review of Randomized Controlled Trials Conducted in the Last 10 Years显示文摘Objective:To conduct a literature review of randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on the use of acupuncture for hot flashes to analyze the characteristics of each study,draw a conclusion on the advantages and disadvantages of previous studies and provide the suggestions for future studies on the same topic.Methods:We searched English and Chinese databases for the literature published from 2009 to 2019 restricted in the English and Chinese language,and we included RCT using acupuncture as the main observational intervention for hot flashes by the criteria.Results:Twenty studies met our eligibility criteria.All the studies were of high quality and confirmed the clinical efficacy of acupuncture for hot flashes,although they used different controlled interventions.The acupuncture treatment and theory of acupoints selection were relatively consistent among the studies,and they had close trial designs.Conclusions:These RCTs on acupuncture were nonuniform,which made the studies on this topic lack coherence,leading to unsatisfactory research outcomes.Therefore,more professional research teams are needed to perform studies on a definite topic and draw a specific conclusion to previous studies before the next step is taken.Ru-Ya Sheng Yan Yan Hai Hoang Linh Dang 2021World Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,7,4:1

14A Study on Hovering Control of Small Aerial Robot by Sensing Existing Floor Features显示文摘Since precise self-position estimation is required for autonomous flight of aerial robots, there has been some studies on self-position estimation of indoor aerial robots. In this study, we tackle the self-position estimation problem by mounting a small downward-facing camera on the chassis of an aerial robot. We obtain robot position by sensing the features on the indoor floor.In this work, we used the vertex points(tile corners) where four tiles on a typical tiled floor connected, as an existing feature of the floor. Furthermore, a small lightweight microcontroller is mounted on the robot to perform image processing for the onboard camera. A lightweight image processing algorithm is developed. So, the real-time image processing could be performed by the microcontroller alone which leads to conduct on-board real time tile corner detection. Furthermore, same microcontroller performs control value calculation for flight commanding. The flight commands are implemented based on the detected tile corner information. 18Antibiotic usage in surgical sperm retrievals among IVF centers显示文摘Surgical sperm retrieval(SSR)is currently one of the most common procedures in in vitro fertilization(IVF).However,a gap between the guidelines and routine clinical practice regarding antibiotic use in sSR,which might lead to antibiotic resistance,is a challenging problem worldwide.A cross-sectional survey was conducted from May 1,2021,to July 15,2021,to investigate antibiotic usage by medical professionals when performing SSR in IVF centers in Vietnam.The confidential questionnaire comprised 12 items,including characteristics of the study population,awareness of antimicrobial resistance,attitude toward prescribing antibiotics,and current practice of prescribing antibiotics when performing SSR.Surveys were completed by 30 of 45 registered IVF centers(66.7%).Among 67 physicians working at those centers,the age and work-experience years(mean±standard deviation[s.d.])were 38.6±6.6 years and 11.2±7.0 years,respectively.Over 60%of them held a degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology,and over four-fifths were men.Most respondents'often/very often/always'raised awareness of antimicrobial resistance to their patients(83.3%),but only half of them'often/occasionally'prescribed antibiotics to patients with SSR in cases where the prescription would be optional.About one-tenth of respondents followed the recommendation from the American Urological Association using'prophylaxis only'for SSR patients.For more invasive SSR,physicians tended to prescribe more complicated and sometimes inappropriate regimens.In conclusion,antibiotic usage in SSR was not always appropriate among IVF centers.Further studies may define specific recommendations for regimens,intervention strategies,and programs to promote appropriate antibiotic use for SSR patients among IVF specialists.Le Dang Khoa Ngo Dinh Trieu Vy Nguyen Minh Tai Loc Le Duc Thang Dang Tuan Anh Nguyen Phuc Hieu Giang Huynh Nhu Nguyen Dinh Tao Le Hoang David J Handelsman 2022Asian Journal of Andrology2022,24,6:0
19Prediction of falling weight deflectometer parameters using hybrid model of genetic algorithm and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system显示文摘A falling weight deflectometer is a testing device used in civil engineering to measure and evaluate the physical properties of pavements,such as the modulus of the subgrade reaction(Y1)and the elastic modulus of the slab(Y2),which are crucial for assessing the structural strength of pavements.In this study,we developed a novel hybrid artificial intelligence model,i.e.,a genetic algorithm(GA)-optimized adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS-GA),to predict Y1 and Y2 based on easily determined 13 parameters of rigid pavements.The performance of the novel ANFIS-GA model was compared to that of other benchmark models,namely logistic regression(LR)and radial basis function regression(RBFR)algorithms.These models were validated using standard statistical measures,namely,the coefficient of correlation(R),mean absolute error(MAE),and root mean square error(RMSE).The results indicated that the ANFIS-GA model was the best at predicting Y1(R=0.945)and Y2(R=0.887)compared to the LR and RBFR models.Therefore,the ANFIS-GA model can be used to accurately predict Y1 and Y2 based on easily measured parameters for the appropriate and rapid assessment of the quality and strength of pavements.Long Hoang NGUYEN Dung Quang VU Duc Dam NGUYEN Fazal E.JALAL Mudassir IQBAL Vinh The DANG Hiep Van LE Indra PRAKASH Binh Thai PHAM 2023Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2023,17,5:0
