2Vertical concentration profile of nonuniform sediment显示文摘A new formula for the concentration profile of nonuniform sediment is derived using the diffusion differential equation with equilibrium bed concentration.The interaction coefficient for nonuniform sediment particles as a function of both relative diameter and geometric standard deviation of nonuniform sediment is taken into account in the settling velocity.The diffusion coefficient is obtained from the logarithmic velocity profile.This new formula possesses several advantages as follows:(1)avoids theoretical defect of the Rouse formula,which states that the sediment concentration is infinite at the bottom and zero at the water surface.(2)suitable for an arbitrary fraction of nonuniform sediment,and(3)easy to apply with a simple form.The formula yields less difference among concentration profiles for various particles than that for uniform sediment and reveals the lawfor fractional concentration distribution of nonuniform sediment.The calculated concentration agrees well with the measured data from the Yangtze River.Zhilin Sun Haolei Zheng Dan Xu Chunhong Hu Chaofan Zhang 2021International Journal of Sediment Research2021,36,1:2
3Promoting electrochemical reduction of CO_(2) to ethanol by B/N-doped sp^(3)/sp^(2) nanocarbon electrode显示文摘Electrochemical reduction of CO_(2) to value-added chemicals holds promise for carbon utilization and renewable electricity storage.However,selective CO_(2) reduction to multi-carbon fuels remains a significant challenge.Here,we report that B/N-doped sp^(3)/sp^(2) hybridized nanocarbon(BNHC),consisting of ultra-small nanoparticles with a sp^(3) carbon core covered by a sp^(2) carbon shell,is an efficient electrocatalyst for electrochemical reduction of CO_(2) to ethanol at relatively low overpotentials.CO_(2) reduction occurs with a Faradaic efficiency of 58.8%-69.1% for ethanol and acetate production at -0.5∼-0.6 V(vs.RHE),among which 51.6%-56.0% is for ethanol.The high selectivity for ethanol is due to the integrated effect of sp^(3)/sp^(2) carbon and B/N doping.Both sp^(3) carbon and B/N doping contribute to enhanced ethanol production with sp^(2) carbon reducing the overpotential for CO_(2) reduction to ethanol.Yanming Liu Haolei Yang Xinfei Fan Bing Shan Thomas J.Meyer 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,10:2

10Comparison of settlement behaviors of high-food-waste-content(HFWC) and low-food-waste-content(LFWC) MSWs and assessment of their prediction models显示文摘Settlement behaviors of high-food-waste-content(HFWC) and low-food-waste-content(LFWC) municipal solid wastes(MSWs) respectively from developing and developed countries were characterized and compared based on a great number of experimental datasets from references. Fresh HFWC-MSW generally has larger primary compression ratio compared to fresh LFWC-MSW, due to the release of a large amount of intra-particle water contained in food waste under additional stresses. The slopes of strain-logarithmic time curves with respect to the three secondary compression phases are characterized as 'slightsteep-slight' for LFWC-MSWand 'moderate-moderate-slight' for HFWC-MSW. It is difficult to distinguish the first two phases of the secondary compression in strain-logarithmic time curves for HFWC-MSW. The entropy method was built to evaluate the performance and applicability of nine published settlement models based on the settlement datasets of four large-scale experiments. The computational simplicity, the fitting performance, the prediction performance and the parametric stability were taken as the four criterions in the entropy method. 11Cerium Methacrylate Assisted Preparation of Highly Thermally Conductive and Anticorrosive Multifunctional Coatings for Heat Conduction Metals Protection显示文摘Preparing polymeric coatings with well corrosion resistance and high thermal conductivity(TC)to prolong operational life and ensure service reliability of heat conductive metallic materials has long been a substantive and urgent need while a difficult task.Here we report a multifunctional epoxy composite coating(F-CB/CEP)by synthesizing cerium methacrylate and ingeniously using it as a novel curing agent with corrosion inhibit for epoxy resin and modifier for boron nitride through'cation-π'interaction.The prepared F-CB/CEP coating presents a high TC of 4.29 W m^(−1)K^(−1),which is much higher than other reported anti-corrosion polymer coatings and thereby endowing metal materials coated by this coating with outstanding thermal management performance compared with those coated by pure epoxy coating.Meanwhile,the low-frequency impedance remains at 5.1×10^(11)Ωcm^(2)even after 181 days of immersion in 3.5 wt%NaCl solution.Besides,the coating also exhibits well hydrophobicity,self-cleaning properties,temperature resistance and adhesion.This work provides valuable insights for the preparation of high-performance composite coatings with potential to be used as advanced multifunctional thermal management materials,especially for heat conduction metals protection.Fei Xu Peng Ye Jianwen Peng Haolei Geng Yexiang Cui Di Bao Renjie Lu Hongyu Zhu Yanji Zhu Huaiyuan Wang 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,11:0
12Topology Optimization of Self-Supporting Structures for Additive Manufacturing with Adaptive Explicit Continuous Constraint显示文摘The integration of topology optimization(TO)and additive manufacturing(AM)technologies can create significant synergy benefits,while the lack of AM-friendly TO algorithms is a serious bottleneck for the application of TO in AM.In this paper,a TO method is proposed to design self-supporting structures with an explicit continuous self-supporting constraint,which can be adaptively activated and tightened during the optimization procedure.The TO procedure is suitable for various critical overhang angles(COA),which is integrated with build direction assignment to reduce performance loss.Besides,a triangular directional self-supporting constraint sensitivity filter is devised to promote the downward evolution of structures and maintain stability.Two numerical examples are presented;all the test cases have successfully converged and the optimized solutions demonstrate good manufacturability.In the meanwhile,a fully self-supporting design can be obtained with a slight cost in performance through combination with build direction assignment.Jun Zou Haolei Mou 2022Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,8:0
13Artificial“honeycomb-honey”decorated with non-noble plasmonic nanoparticles for superior solar capture and thermal energy storage显示文摘Phase change materials(PCMs)are popular solutions to tackle the unbalance of thermal energy supply and demand,but suffer from low thermal conductivity and leakage problems.Inspired by how honeybees store honey,we propose artificial“honeycombhoney”for excellent solar and thermal energy storage capacity based on TiN nanoparticles decorated porous AlN skeletonsPCMs composites.The thermal conductivity of composites achieves 21.58 W/(m·K)at AlN loading of 20 vol.%,superior to the state-of-the-art ceramic-based composites.The charging/discharging time is reduced to about half of pure PCMs with shapestability and thermal reliability well maintained over 500 melting/freezing cycles.The underlying mechanism can be attributed to the combination of single-crystal AlN whiskers with few crystal defects and reduced phonon scattering,as well as vertically arranged three-dimantional(3D)heat conduction channels.A rapid and efficient solar thermal storage is also demonstrated with solar thermal storage efficiency achieving a high value of 92.9%without employing additional spectrum selective coatings.This is benefited from high thermal conductivity and full-spectrum solar absorptance of up to 95%induced by plasmonic resonances of TiN nanoparticles.In addition,by embedding LiNO3-NaCl eutectics,the phase change enthalpy of composites reaches as high as 208 kJ/kg,making high energy storage density and fast energy storage rate compatible.This work offers new routes to achieve rapid,efficient,stable,and compact solar capture and thermal energy storage.Haolei Wang Xianglei Liu Qingyang Luo Haichen Yao Qiao Xu Yang Tian Jianguo Wang Yimin Xuan 2022Nano Research2022,15,9:0
14Construction of 3D interconnected boron nitride/carbon nanofiber hybrid network within polymer composite for thermal conductivity improvement显示文摘With the increasing power density and integration of electronic devices,polymeric composites with high thermal conductivity(TC)are in urgent demand for solving heat accumulation issues.However,the direct introduction of inorganic fillers into a polymer matrix at low filler content usually leads to low TC enhancement.In this work,an interconnected three-dimensional(3D)polysulfone/hexagonal boron nitride-carbon nanofiber(PSF/BN-CNF)skeleton was prepared via the salt templated method to address this issue.After embedding into the epoxy(EP),the EP/PSF/BN-CNF composite presents a high TC of 2.18 W m^(−1) K^(−1) at a low filler loading of 28.61 wt%,corresponding to a TC enhancement of 990%compared to the neat epoxy.The enhanced TC is mainly attributed to the fabricated 3D interconnected structure and the efficient synergistic effect of BN and CNF.In addition,the TC of the epoxy composites can be further increased to 2.85 W m^(−1) K^(−1) at the same filler loading through a post-heat treatment of the PSF/BN-CNF skeletons.After carbonization at 1500°C,the adhesive PSF was converted into carbonaceous layers,which could serve as a thermally conductive glue to connect the filler network,further decreasing the interfacial thermal resistance and promoting phonon transport.Besides,the good heat dissipation performance of the EP/C/BN-CNF composites was directly confirmed by thermal infrared imaging,indicating a bright and broad application in the thermal management of modern electronics and energy fields.Yexiang Cui Fei Xu Di Bao Yueyang Gao Jianwen Peng Dan Lin Haolei Geng Xiaosong Shen Yanji Zhu Huaiyuan Wang 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,16:0
15Concentration fluctuation caused by reaction-diffusion coupling near catalytic active sites显示文摘The coupling of reaction and diffusion between neighboring active sites in the catalyst pore leads to the spatiotemporal fluctuation in component concentration,which is very importa nt to catalyst performance and hence its optimal design.Molecular dynamics simulation with hard-sphere and pseudo-particle modeling has previously revealed the non-stochastic concentration fluctuation of the reactant/product near isolated active site due to such coupling,using a simple model reaction of A→B in 2D pores.The topic is further developed in this work by studying the concentration fluctuation due to such coupling between neighboring active sites in 3D pores.Two 3D pore models containing an isolated active site and two adjacent active sites were constructed,respectively.For the isolated site,the concentration fluctuation intensifies for larger pores,but the product yield decreases,and for a given pore size,the product yield reaches a peak at a certain reactant concentration.For two neighboring sites,their distance(d)is found to have little effect on the reaction,but significant to the diffusion.For the same reaction competing at both sites,larger d leads to more efficient diffusion and better overall performance.However,for sequential reactions at the two sites,higher overall performance presents at a smaller d.The results should be helpful to the catalyst design and reaction control in the relevant processes.Haolei Zhang Mingcan Zhao Yanping Li Chengxiang Li Wei Ge 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,,10:0
