| 1 | Evaluation of photosynthesis, physiological, and biochemical responses of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L. cv. Pirouz) under water deficit stress and use of vermicompost fertilizer显示文摘One goal in the face of drought stress conditions is to increase growth and yield through the reduction of negative effects of stress. Vermicompost can play an effective role in plant growth and development and in reducing harmful effects of various environmental stresses on plants due to its porous structure, high water storage capacity, having hormone-like substances, plant growth regulators, and high levels of macro and micro nutrients. This study considered the physiological, biochemical, and photosynthetic responses of the chickpea to different combinations of vermicompost and water stress in a greenhouse environment. Two factors were involved, addition of vermicompost to soil at four ratios: control(100 wt%(weight percentage) soil); 10 wt% vermicompost+90% soil; 20 wt% vermicompost+80 wt% soil; 30 wt% vermicompost+70 wt% soil weight percentage, and treatment of water stress at three levels including 75, 50, and 25% of field capacity. The results showed that vermicompost had a significant effect on all traits under stress and non-stress conditions. Application of vermicompost in soil, especially at the levels of 20 and 30 wt% significantly increased all studied traits under non-stress conditions. Under moderate stress conditions, vermicompost at 30 wt% treatment resulted in a significant increase in the photosynthetic pigments, CO_2 assimilation rate, internal leaf CO_2 concentration, transpiration, the maximal quantum yield of photosystem II(PSII) photochemistry(F_v/F_m), concentrations of Ca and K in root and leaf tissues, proline and soluble protein contents in root tissues. Peroxidase(POX) and catalase(CAT) enzyme activities decreased significantly with increasing proportions of vermicompost, but the activity of superoxide dismutase was not significantly different. | 3 | Effects of probiotic supplementation on abdominal pain severity in pediatric patients with irritable bowel syndrome:a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials显示文摘Background Probiotic supplementation has been used to alleviate abdominal pain in children and adolescents with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS),but the evidence is not compelling.Thus,a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials(RCTs)were performed to investigate the effects of probiotic supplementation on abdominal pain in pediatric patients with IBS.Methods PubMed/MEDLINE,Web of Science,Scopus,Cochrane Library,and Embase were the available databases searched to find relevant randomized clinical trials up to April 2021.The effect size was expressed as weighted mean differenee(WMD)and 95% confidence interval(CI).Results Seven RCTs with 441 participants were included,from which the meta-analysis demonstrated that probiotic supplementation has a significant effect on reducing abdominal pain in pediatric patients with IBS(WMD=-2.36:95%CI-4.12 to-0.60;P=0.009).Although our study involved children and adolescents(≤18 years),the effects of probiotic supplementation seem to be more potent in patients under 10 years old(WMD=-2.55;95%CI-2.84 to -2.27)compared to patients aged 10-18 years(WMD=-1.70;95%CI-2.18 to -1.22).The length of supplementation longer than four weeks was more effective(WMD=-2.43;95%CI-2.76 to -2.09).Conclusion Probiotic supplementation can reduce abdominal pain in pediatric patients with IBS. | Somayeh Fatahi Amirhossein Hosseini Mohammad Hassan Sohouli Aliakbar Sayyari Katayoun Khatami Zahra Fazeli Farsani Hamzeh Amiri Naghi Dara Ivan G.O.de Souza Heitor O.Santos | 2022 | World Journal of Pediatrics2022,18,5: | 5 |

| 7 | Role of bevacizumab intraocular injection in the management of neovascular glaucoma显示文摘AIM:To assess the long-term effects of intraocular bevacizumab(Avastin)injections as an adjunctive drug to manage patients with neovascular glaucoma(NVG).METHODS:A retrospective study was conducted consisting of 34 eyes with secondary NVG caused by proliferative diabetic retinopathy(n=25),ischemic central retinal vein occlusion(n=8),and retinal ischemia resulting from persistent detachment(n=1)were managed by intraocular injections of bevacizumab(1.25 mg/0.05 m L),in addition to other treatments.The main outcome measure was the change in the degree of iris neovascularization.Secondary outcomes included intraocular pressure and the number of additional interventions or antiglaucoma medications administered after injection.RESULTS:All patients were followed-up for at least 12 mo.At the last follow-up,complete regression of rubeosis irides was detectable in 13(38.2%)eyes and incomplete regression in 21 eyes(61.8%).The mean intraocular pressure was 45.32±7.185 mm Hg at baseline and significantly decreased to 26.15±5.679 mm Hg at the last follow-up visit(P=0.000005).Patients received an average of 4.97 injections.As additional treatments,12 eyes(35%)received laser photocoagulation and 6 eyes(18%)underwent retinocryopexy.No further treatment was needed in 16 eyes(47.1%).CONCLUSION:Intravitreal bevacizumab injection can have a favorable effect in controlling intraocular pressure and pain control in patients with NVG because it decreases the angiogenesis and helps to augment the results of conventional procedures.The primary cause of retinal ischemia should be always targeted. | Fawaz Al Sarireh Hamzeh Mohammad Alrawashdeh Khalid Al Zubi Khalil Al Salem | 2021 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2021,14,6: | 4 |
| 8 | The effects of transcranial direct current stimulation on gait in patients with Parkinson’s disease:a systematic review显示文摘Background:Gait problems are an important symptom in Parkinson’s disease(PD),a progressive neurodegenerative disease.Transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS)is a neuromodulatory intervention that can modulate cortical excitability of the gait-related regions.Despite an increasing number of gait-related tDCS studies in PD,the efficacy of this technique for improving gait has not been systematically investigated yet.Here,we aimed to systematically explore the effects of tDCS on gait in PD,based on available experimental studies.Methods:Using the PRISMA(Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses)approach,PubMed,Web of Science,Scopus,and PEDro databases were searched for randomized clinical trials assessing the effect of tDCS on gait in patients with PD.Results:Eighteen studies were included in this systematic review.Overall,tDCS targeting the motor cortex and supplementary motor area bilaterally seems to be promising for gait rehabilitation in PD.Studies of tDCS targeting the dorosolateral prefrontal cortex or cerebellum showed more heterogeneous results.More studies are needed to systematically compare the efficacy of different tDCS protocols,including protocols applying tDCS alone and/or in combination with conventional gait rehabilitation treatment in PD.Conclusions:tDCS is a promising intervention approach to improving gait in PD.Anodal tDCS over the motor areas has shown a positive effect on gait,but stimulation of other areas is less promising.However,the heterogeneities of methods and results have made it difficult to draw firm conclusions.Therefore,systematic explorations of tDCS protocols are required to optimize the efficacy. | Fateme Pol Mohammad Ali Salehinejad Hamzeh Baharlouei Michael A.Nitsche | 2021 | Translational Neurodegeneration2021,10,2: | 4 |

This paper proposes the novel approaches to aid power system planner to improve power grid resilience by making appropriate hardening strategies against man-made attack or natural hazards. The vulnerability indices are introduced, which return the most vulnerable component in the system based on a tri-level defender-attacker-operator(DAO) interdiction problem which solves iteratively. The output of DAO is the set of hardening strategies that optimally allocated along the network to mitigate the impact of the worst-case damages. By repeating DAO problem based on the proposed algorithm, the various crafted attack is imposed on the system, and the defender's behavior demonstrates how an element is vulnerable to threats. | 17 | Lens thickness assessment : anterior segment optical coherence tomography versus A-scan ultrasonography显示文摘AIM: To assess lens thickness measurements with anterior segment-optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT)in comparison with A-scan ultrasonography(A-scan US).·METHODS: There were 218 adult subjects(218 eyes)aged 59.2 ±9.2y enrolled in this prospective cross-sectional study. Forty-three eyes had open angles and 175 eyes had narrow angles. Routine ophthalmic exam was performed and nuclear opacity was graded using the Lens Opacities Classification System Ⅲ(LOCS Ⅲ). Lens thickness was measured by AS-OCT(Visante OCT, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Dublin, CA, USA). The highest quality image was selected for each eye and lens thickness was calculated using Image J software. Lens thickness was also measured by A-scan US.·RESULTS: Interclass correlations showed a value of99.7% for intra-visit measurements and 95.3% for inter-visit measurements. The mean lens thickness measured by AS-OCT was not significantly different from that of A-scan US(4.861 ±0.404 vs 4.866 ±0.351 mm, P =0.74).Lens thickness values obtained from the two instruments were highly correlated overall(Pearson correlation coefficient =0.81,P <0.001), and in all LOCS Ⅲ specific subgroups except in grade 5 of nuclear opacity. Bland-Altman analysis revealed a 95% limit of agreement from-0.45 to 0.46 mm. Lens thickness difference between the two instruments became smaller as the lens thickness increased and AS-OCT yielded smaller values than A-scan US in thicker lens(β=-0.29, P <0.001)· CONCLUSION: AS-OCT-derived lens thickness measurement is valid and comparable to the results obtained by A-scan US. The chemical changes that appeared on the surface of the samples were investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR- FTIR) spectroscopy after treatment for 2 min, 4 min and 6 min in a nitrogen plasma chamber. Effects of the plasma treatment on the surface topographies and contact angles of the untreated and plasma treated films were also analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and a contact angle measuring system. The results show that the plasma treated films become more hydrophilic with an enhanced wettability due to the formation of some new polar groups on the surface of the treated films. Moreover, at higher exposure times, the total surface energy in all treated films increased while a reduction in contact angle occurred. | 20 | Comparison of accuracy and computational performance between the machine learning algorithms for rate of penetration in directional drilling well显示文摘Oil and gas reservoirs are of the main assets of countries possessing them.Production from these reservoirs is one of the main concerns of engineers,which can be achieved by drilling oil and gas reservoirs.Construction of hydrocarbon wells is one of the most expensive operations in the oil industry.One of the most important parameters affecting drilling cost is the rate of penetration(ROP).This paper predicts the rate of penetration using artificial intelligence and hybrid models on Kaboud oil field well#7 in the directional stage.In this study,different models were constructed through various approaches based on 1878 dataset obtained from drilling operation in the well#7.Then,the accuracy of the constructed models was compared with each other.It was found that the MLP-ABC algorithm predicts the rate of penetration more accurately,by far,as compared with other methods.The MLP-ABC algorithm achieves impressive ROP prediction accuracy(RMSE=0.007211 m/h;AAPD=0.1871%;R^(2)=1.000 for the testing subset).Consequently,it can be concluded that this method is applicable to predict the drilling rate in that oilfield. | Omid Hazbeh Saeed Khezerloo-ye Aghdam Hamzeh Ghorbani Nima Mohamadian Mehdi Ahmadi Alvar Jamshid Moghadasi | 2021 | Petroleum Research2021,6,3: | 2 |
