1Inhibition of FOXO3a/BIM signaling pathway contributes to the protective effect of salvianolic acid A against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury显示文摘Salvianolic acid A(SalA) is an effective compound extracted from traditional Chinese medicine Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge. The Forkhead box O3a(FOXO3a) signaling pathway plays crucial roles in the modulation of ischemia-induced cell apoptosis. However, no information about the regulatory effect of SalA on FoxO3a is available. To explore the anti-cerebral ischemia effect and clarify the therapeutic mechanism of SalA, SH-SY5Y cells and Sprague–Dawley rats were applied, which were exposed to oxygen glucose deprivation/reoxygenation(OGD/R) and middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion(MCAO/R) injuries, respectively. The involved pathway was identified using the specific inhibitor LY294002. Results showed that SalA concentration-dependently inhibited OGD/R injury triggered cell viability loss. SalA reduced cerebral infarction, lowered brain edema, improved neurological function, and inhibited neuron apoptosis in MCAO/R rats, which were attenuated by the treatment of phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase(PI3K) specific inhibitor LY294002. SalA time-and concentration-dependently upregulated the phosphorylation levels of protein kinase B(AKT) and its downstream protein FOXO3a. Moreover, the nuclear translocation of FOXO3a was inhibited by SalA both in vivo and in vitro, which was also reversed by LY294002. 2Impact of livelihood diversification of rural households on their ecological footprint in agro-pastoral areas of northern China显示文摘Human-environment relationship is a focus of academic researches and an understanding of the relationship is important for making effective policies and decisions. In this study, based on rural household survey data of Taibus Banner, Duolun county and Zhengxiangbai Banner in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region of China, we identified the impact of livelihood diversification on ecosystems in these agro-pastoral areas by using the ecological footprint theory and methodology together with the one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) and correlation analysis methods. In 2011, the total ecological footprint of consumption(EFC) was 0.665 g hm2, and the total ecological footprint of production(EFP) was 2.045 g hm2, which was more than three times the EFC. The ecological footprint of arable land consumption(EFAC) accounted for a large proportion of the EFC, and the ecological footprint of grassland production(EFGP) occupied a large proportion of the EFP. Both the ecological footprint of grassland consumption(EFGC) and EFGP had a significant positive correlation with the income, indicating that income was mainly depended on livestock production and the households with higher incomes consumed more livestock products. The full-time farming households(FTFHs) had the highest EFP, ecological footprint of arable land production(EFAP), EFGP and EFGC, followed by the part-time farming households(PTFHs) and non-farming households(NFHs), which indicated that part-time farming and non-farming employment reduced the occupancy and consumption of rural households on local ecosystems and natural resources to some extent. When farming households engaged in livestock rearing, both the EFAP and EFAC became smaller, while the EFP, EFC, EFGC and EFGP increased significantly. The differences in ecological footprints among different household groups should be taken into account when making ecosystem conservation policies. Encouraging the laborers who have the advantages of participating in non-farming employment to move out of the rural areas and increasing the diversification of livelihoods of rural households are important in reducing the environmental pressures and improving the welfare of households in the study area. 3FVID: Fishing Vessel Type Identification Based on VMS Trajectories显示文摘Vessel Monitoring System(VMS) provides a new opportunity for quantified fishing research. Many approaches have been proposed to recognize fishing activities with VMS trajectories based on the types of fishing vessels. However, one research problem is still calling for solutions, how to identify the fishing vessel type based on only VMS trajectories. This problem is important because it requires the fishing vessel type as a preliminary to recognize fishing activities from VMS trajectories. This paper proposes fishing vessel type identification scheme(FVID) based only on VMS trajectories. FVID exploits feature engineering and machine learning schemes of XGBoost as its two key blocks and classifies fishing vessels into nine types. The dataset contains all the fishing vessel trajectories in the East China Sea in March 2017, including 10031 pre-registered fishing vessels and 1350 unregistered vessels of unknown types. In order to verify type identification accuracy, we first conduct a 4-fold cross-validation on the trajectories of registered fishing vessels. The classification accuracy is 95.42%. We then apply FVID to the unregistered fishing vessels to identify their types. After classifying the unregistered fishing vessel types, their fishing activities are further recognized based upon their types. 4Curative effect of scraping therapies on lumbar muscle strain显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore factors influencing the curative effect of scraping therapies (at acupoints or along channels) and to determine the relationship of scraping site and strength to curative effect. METHODS: Two hundred and ten patients with lumbar muscle strain were divided into five groups with 42 patients each.The 'scraping therapy at acupoint until appearance of skin eruptions' and 'scraping therapy along channel until appearance of skin eruptions' groups were treated with a 4-daycourse. The 'scraping therapy at acupoint without appearance of skin eruptions', 'scraping therapy along channel without appearance of skin eruptions', and acupuncture groups were treated with a 2-day course.The five groups were treated with seven courses. The visual analog scale (VAS), oswestry disability index (ODI), and lumbago scores were recorded in the five groups before treatment, after each treatment, and in follow-up visits one month and three months after treatment. RESULTS: VAS, ODI, and lumbago scores after treatment improved in the five groups (P<0.01). There was a statistical difference (P<0.01) in the change of VAS scores by appearance of skin eruptions and scraping site. CONCLUSION: Scraping therapy can effectively alleviate lumbago symptoms. 5The corrosion behavior of Ti-6Al-3Nb-2Zr-1Mo alloy:Effects of HCl concentration and temperature显示文摘Investigation about the corrosion behavior of Ti alloys in different ambient environment is of great significance for their practical application.Herein,we systematically investigate the corrosion behavior of a newfound Ti-6 Al-3 Nb-2 Zr-1 Mo(Ti80)alloy in hydrochloric acid(HCl)ranging from 1.37 to 7 M,and temperature ranging from 25 to 55℃,by means of electrochemical measurements,static immersion tests and surface analysis.Results manifest that increasing either HCl concentration or temperature can accelerate the corrosion of Ti80 alloy via promoting the breakdown of native protective oxide film and then further facilitating the active dissolution of Ti80 matrix.According to potentiodynamic polarization curves,Ti80 alloy displays a spontaneous passive behavior in 1.37 M HCl at 25℃,compared to a typical active-passive behavior under the other conditions.As indicated by cathodic Tafel slope,the rate determining step for cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction is likely the discharge reaction step.The apparent activation energies obtained from corrosion current density and maximum anodic current density for Ti80 alloy in 5 M HCl solution are 62.4 and 55.6 kJ mol-1,respectively,which signifies that the rate determining step in the corrosion process of Ti80 alloy is mainly determined by surface-chemical reaction rather than diffusion.Besides,the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests demonstrate that a stable and compact oxide film exists in 1.37 M HCl at 25℃,whereas a porous corrosion product film forms under the other conditions.Overall,the critical HCl concentration at which Ti80 alloy can maintain passivation at 25℃can be determined as a value between 1.37 and 3 M.Furthermore,the corroded surface morphology characterization reveals that equiaxedαphase is more susceptible to corrosion compared to intergranularβphase due to a lower content of Nb,Mo,and Zr in the former.Baoxian Su Binbin Wang Liangshun Luo Liang Wang Yanqing Su Fuxin Wang Yanjin Xu Baoshuai Han Haiguang Huang Jingjie Guo Hengzhi Fu 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,15:5

7Annealed microstructure dependent corrosion behavior of Ti-6Al-3Nb-2Zr-1Mo alloy显示文摘Corrosion resistance of titanium(Ti)alloys is closely connected with their microstructure which can be adjusted and controlled via different annealing schemes.Herein,we systematically investigate the specific effects of annealing on the corrosion performance of Ti-6 Al-3 Nb-2 Zr-1 Mo(Ti80)alloy in 3.5 wt.%NaCl and 5 M HCl solutions,respectively,based on open circuit potential(OCP),potentiodynamic polarization,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),static immersion tests and surface analysis.Results indicate that increasing annealing tempe rature endows Ti80 alloy with a higher volume fraction ofβphase and finerαphase,which in turn improves its corrosion resistance.Surface characterization demonstrates thatβphase is more resistant to corrosion thanαphase owing to a higher content of Nb,Mo,and Zr in the former;additionally,the decreased thickness of a phase alleviates segregation of elements to further restrain the micro-galvanic couple effects betweenαandβphases.Meanwhile,the influential mechanisms of environmental conditions on corrosion of Ti80 alloy are discussed in detail.As the formation of a highly compact and stable oxide film on surface,annealed Ti80 alloys exhibit a low corrosion current density(10^(-6)A/cm^(2))and high polarization impedance(10^(6)Ω·cm^(2))in 3.5 wt.%NaCl solution.However,they suffer severe corrosion in 5 M HCl solution,resulting from the breakdown of native oxide films(the conversion of TiO_(2)to aqueous Ti^(3+)),active dissolution of substrate Ti to aqueous Ti^(3+)and existence of micro-galvanic couple effects.Those findings could provide new insights to designing Ti alloys with high-corrosion resistance through microstructural optimization.Baoxian Su Liangshun Luo Binbin Wang Yanqing Su Liang Wang Robert O.Ritchie Enyu Guo Ting Li Huimin Yang Haiguang Huang Jingjie Guo Hengzhi Fu 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,3:5
8Development of automatic counting system for urediospores of wheat stripe rust based on image processing显示文摘To realize automatic counting of urediospores of Puccinia striiformis f.sp.tritici(Pst)(causal agent of wheat stripe rust),an automatic counting system for urediospores of wheat stripe rust pathogen based on image processing was developed using MATLAB GUIDE platform in combination with Local C Compiler(LCC).The system is independent of the MATLAB environment and can be run on a computer without the MATLAB software.Using this system,automatic counting of Pst urediospores in a microscopic image can be implemented via image processing technologies including image scaling,clustering segmentation,morphological modification,watershed transformation,connected region labeling,etc.Structure design of the automatic counting system,the key algorithms used in the system and realization of the main functions of the system were described in detail.Spore counting tests were conducted using microscopic digital images of Pst urediospores and the high accuracies more than 95%were obtained.The results indicated that it is feasible to count Pst urediospores automatically using the developed system based on image processing.Li Xiaolong Ma Zhanhong Fernando Bienvenido Qin Feng Wang Haiguang José Antonio Alvarez-Bermejo 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,5:4
9Comparative transcriptional profiling under drought stress between upland and lowland rice (Oryza sativa L.) using cDNA-AFLP显示文摘The continuous growth of lowland rice (LR) in paddy fields supplied with enough water over the years, and of upland rice (UR) in naturally rain-fed soils, has resulted in greater resistance to drought stress in UR compared to LR. To elucidate their differential regulation mechanisms of drought-resistance, genome-wide transcript regulation under drought stress in UR and LR was investigated using cDNA-AFLP. The results indicated that over 90% of gene expression was not affected by drought stress in the two rice genotypes, more than 8% was regulated by drought stress in both, and less than 1% was specifically expressed in UR or LR. Fifty-seven genes were specifically expressed in UR and thirty-eight specifically in LR. Genes specifically expressed in UR included cell rescue and defence genes functioning in drought-resistance, signal transduction molecules, nucleotides and amino acid biosynthesis genes required for plant growth, and the regulatory genes for growth and development. In LR, genes specifically expressed were related to protein and nucleotide degradation. Some genes were upregulated earlier in UR, and downregulated genes were inclined to be downregulated earlier in UR compared to LR, implying that more rapid regulation mechanisms caused earlier responses of UR to drought stress. Expression levels of upregulated genes in UR were higher than those in LR. 11SERS mechanism of nickel electrode显示文摘Based on the theoretical model for the two-dimensional arrays, the dependence of the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) effect of nickel electrode, especially the ordered two-dimensional nanowires, on the incident photon energy in the range of 0.6-4.0 eV are analyzed, and most of the works are focused on the effect of the shape of nano-particles. The theoretical analysis shows that nickel can exhibit weak surface-enhanced Raman scattering effect when the surface is roughened properly, and the enhancement factor is about 102-104. Compared to the typical highly SERS-active Ag substrate, the SERS of nickel does not show the character of surface plasma resonance of the metal. The calculated result shows that the lightning-rod effect contributes the most to the SERS of Ni nanowires in the EM mechanism. 14Understanding the relationships between poverty alleviation and ecosystem conservation:empirical evidence from western China显示文摘Despite growing interest in the use of Payments for Ecosystem Services(PES)for both social and ecological benefits,few studies have investigated the feedback and interaction between poverty alleviation and ecosystem protection outcomes.In this study,the poverty reduction effects of PES policies and their subsequent influence on environmental protection outcomes are investigated.To address these questions,222 local rural households who were involved in PES programs from the Habahu National Nature Reserve in western China were interviewed.The results showed that the social and ecological outcomes of PES policies are neither two separate entities nor a trade-off.While rural households are the key participants in PES programs,the social and ecological outcomes of PES policies are closely related to each other.In addition,poverty reduction results could greatly influence ecosystem conservation effects.Livelihood assets,as well as the attitudes of rural households,play important roles in both of the outcomes.This research provides a new perspective that considers the social and ecological benefits of PES policies,and it also calls for an integrated consideration of social and ecological components in tihe design of PES policies to achieve enhanced results both for poverty alleviation and ecosystem conservation.Xujun HU Huiyuan ZHANG Haiguang HAO Danyang FENG Haiyan LIU Qiang ZHANG 2020Frontiers of Earth Science2020,14,1:2
15Impacts of the Rising Opportunity Cost of Farm Labor on Agricultural Land Use Structure: Theory and Empirical Evidences显示文摘Nowadays the rising of opportunity cost of farm labor comes to the forefront of attention in China. In order to understand its impact on agricultural land-use structure, a theoretical framework of household economics is formulated drawn on Low's model. Under the theoretical framework, the impact of the rising opportunity cost of on-farm on cropping structure is deduced in theory. And then, using statistic and survey data, taking mountain area of southern Ningxia as an example, the theoretical assumes are verified. 16Carbon nanotubes-incorporated MIL-88B-Fe as highly efficient Fenton-like catalyst for degradation of organic pollutants显示文摘Iron-based metal organic frameworks have been verified to be efficient heterogeneous Fenton catalysts due to their open pore channels and highly uniform distribution of metallic centers.In these catalysts,however,the iron element is mainly in the form of Fe(III),which results in a process required to reduce Fe(III)to Fe(II)to initiate Fenton reaction.To address this problem,carbon nanotubes(CNTs)with electron-rich oxygen-functional groups on the surface were incorporated into the metal organic frameworks(MIL-88B-Fe)to improve Fe(II)content for an enhanced Fenton-like performance.The prepared CNT@MIL-88B-Fe(C@M)showed much stronger catalytic ability toward H2O2 than MIL-88B-Fe.The pseudo-first-order kinetic constant for phenol degradation by C@M(0.32 min–1)was about 7 times that of MIL-88B-Fe,and even higher than or comparable to the values of reported heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts.Moreover,the Fenton-like system could effectively degrade various kinds of refractory organic pollutants and exhibited excellent catalytic activity over a wide pH range(4–9).XPS analysis confirmed that Fe(II)content of the catalyst gradually increased with CNT loadings.Electron spin resonance analysis showed that the signal intensity(?OH)of C@M was much higher than MIL-88B-Fe,which was consistent with the degradation efficiency of pollutants.Furthermore,the Fe(II)content of the catalyst gradually increased along with the oxygen-functional group content of CNTs.The result demonstrated that oxygen-containing functional groups of CNTs have a significant impact on the enhanced catalytic performance of C@M.This study provides a new insight to enhance Fenton reaction by using nanocarbon materials.Hang Zhang Shuo Chen Haiguang Zhang Xinfei Fan Cong Gao Hongtao Yu Xie Quan 2019Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2019,13,2:2

18The radio environment of the 21 Centimeter Array:RFI detection and mitigation显示文摘Detection and mitigation of radio frequency interference(RFI) is the first and also the key step for data processing in radio observations, especially for ongoing low frequency radio experiments towards the detection of the cosmic dawn and epoch of reionization(Eo R). In this paper we demonstrate the technique and efficiency of RFI identification and mitigation for the 21 Centimeter Array(21CMA), a radio interferometer dedicated to the statistical measurement of Eo R. For terrestrial, man-made RFI, we concentrate mainly on a statistical approach by identifying and then excising non-Gaussian signatures, in the sense that the extremely weak cosmic signal is actually buried under thermal and therefore Gaussian noise. We also introduce the so-called visibility correlation coefficient instead of conventional visibility, which allows a further suppression of rapidly time-varying RFI. Finally, we briefly discuss removals of the sky RFI, the leakage of sidelobes from off-field strong radio sources with time-invariant power and a featureless spectrum. 19Embedding ultrasmall Ag nanoclusters in Luria-Bertani extract via light irradiation for enhanced antibacterial activity显示文摘Ultrasmall silver nanoclusters(Ag NCs)with rich surface chemistry and good biocompatibility are promising in antibacterial application,however,further development of Ag NCs for practical settings has been constrained by their relatively weak antibacterial activity.Using the nutritionally-rich medium for bacteria(e.g.,Luria-Bertani(LB)medium)to coat active Ag NCs could further improve their antibacterial activity.Here,we provide a delicate design of a highly efficient Ag NCs@ELB antibacterial agent(ELB denotes the extract of LB medium)by anchoring Ag NCs inside the ELB species via light irradiation.The as-designed Ag NCs with bacterium-favored nutrients on the surface can be easily swallowed by the bacteria,boosting the production of the intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS,about 2-fold of that in the pristine Ag NCs).Subsequently,a higher concentration of ROS generated in Ag NCs@ELB leads to enhanced antibacterial activity,and enables to reduce the colony forming units(CFU)of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria with 3–4 orders of magnitude less than that treated with the pristine Ag NCs.In addition,the Ag NCs@ELB also shows good biocompatibility.This study suggests that surface engineering of active species(e.g.,Ag NCs)with nutritionally-rich medium of the bacteria is an efficient way to improve their antibacterial activity.Ziping Wang Yushuang Fang Xianfeng Zhou Zhibo Li Haiguang Zhu Fanglin Du Xun Yuan Qiaofeng Yao Jianping Xie 2020Nano Research2020,13,1:1
