| 1 | Geomechanical analysis of the influence of CO2 injection location on fault stability显示文摘Large amounts of carbon dioxide(CO_2) should be injected in deep saline formations to mitigate climate change,implying geomechanical challenges that require further understanding.Pressure build-up induced by CO_2 injection will decrease the effective stresses and may affect fault stability.Geomechanical effects of overpressure induced by CO_2 injection either in the hanging wall or in the foot wall on fault stability are investigated.CO_2 injection in the presence of a low-permeable fault induces pressurization of the storage formation between the injection well and the fault.The low permeability of the fault hinders fluid flow across it and leads to smaller overpressure on the other side of the fault.This variability in the fluid pressure distribution gives rise to differential total stress changes around the fault that reduce its stability.Despite a significant pressure build-up induced by the fault,caprock stability around the injection well is not compromised and thus,CO_2 leakage across the caprock is unlikely to happen.The decrease in fault stability is similar regardless of the side of the fault where CO_2 is injected.Simulation results show that fault core permeability has a significant effect on fault stability,becoming less affected for high-permeable faults.An appropriate pressure management will allow storing large quantities of CO_2 without inducing fault reactivation. | Victor Vilarrasa Roman Makhnenko Sohrab Gheibi | 2016 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,6: | 4 |

| 14 | Ultrasonic imaging of microscale processes in quartz gouge during compression and shearing显示文摘Active ultrasonic monitoring in rock joints and gouge materials has the potential to detect the signatures of shear failure for a wide range of sliding modes,from slow and stable movements to fast and unstable sliding.While these collected measurements currently are being used to identify the seismic precursors to shear failure in rock joints and gouge materials,the underlying physical processes and contact scale mechanisms that control the changes in ultrasonic wave attributes are still poorly understood.To address this knowledge gap,this paper aims to investigate the relationship between the variations in ultrasonic wave attributes and the underlying particle scale mechanisms during both compression and shearing.Our double direct shear experiments were coupled with ultrasonic wave propagation measurements on granular quartz gouges,in which the gouge layers were sheared under different sliding velocities and constant normal stress conditions.Simultaneously,ultrasonic waveforms were continuously recorded during shearing with a fast data acquisition system and three pairs of ultrasonic wave transducers embedded at the two sides of the gouge layers.Different particle comminution mechanisms were observed from the non-uniform distribution of normal and shear stresses through the changes in ultrasonic transmissivity and scanning electron microscope(SEM)images.Our results show that the signatures of the geometry-and time-dependent variations of the inter-particle contact quality and pore volume changes with sliding velocity and slip accumulation were clearly captured from the variations in the transmitted wave amplitude and the dominant frequency,respectively.In addition,we found that variations in dominant frequency corresponded to dilation and compaction of the granular gouge layer during compression as well as stable and unstable sliding.Our results therefore confirmed that nondestructive acoustic techniques are capable of capturing a variety of micromechanical processes during fault gouge deformation and may prove useful in natural settings. | Amin Gheibi Ahmadreza Hedayat | 2020 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,6: | 0 |
| 15 | A New Quantum Watermarking Based on Quantum Wavelet Transforms显示文摘Quantum watermarking is a technique to embed specific information, usually the owner's identification,into quantum cover data such for copyright protection purposes. In this paper, a new scheme for quantum watermarking based on quantum wavelet transforms is proposed which includes scrambling, embedding and extracting procedures. The invisibility and robustness performances of the proposed watermarking method is confirmed by simulation technique.The invisibility of the scheme is examined by the peak-signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR) and the histogram calculation.Furthermore the robustness of the scheme is analyzed by the Bit Error Rate(BER) and the Correlation Two-Dimensional(Corr 2-D) calculation. | 16 | Ivermectin as an adjunct treatment for hospitalized adult COVID-19 patients: A randomized multi-center clinical trial显示文摘Objective: To evaluate different doses of ivermectin in adult patients with mild COVID-19 and to evaluate the effect of ivermectin on mortality and clinical consequences.Methods: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter clinical trial was performed at five hospitals. A total of 180 mild hospitalized patients with COVID-19 confirmed by PCR or chest image tests were enrolled and allocated to six arms including hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day, placebo plus hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day, single dose ivermectin(200 μg/kg), three low interval doses of ivermectin(200, 200, 200 μg/kg), single dose ivermectin(400 μg/kg), and three high interval doses of ivermectin(400, 200, 200 μg/kg). The primary endpoint of this trial was all-cause of mortality or clinical recovery. The radiographic findings, hospitalization and low O_2 saturation duration, and hematological variables of blood samples were analyzed. Results: A total of 16.7%(5/30) and 20.0%(6/30) patients died in arms treated with hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day and placebo plus hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day, respectively, and a reduction in mortality rate in patients receiving ivermectin treatment to 0%, 10%, 0% and 3.3% for arms 1-4 were observed. Risk of mortality was also decreased about 15% in the ivermectin treated arms. Conclusions: Ivermectin as an adjunct reduces the rate of mortality, time of low O_2 saturation, and duration of hospitalization in adult COVID-19 patients.
