| 1 | Ozone mini-hole occurring over the Tibetan Plateau in December 2003显示文摘By analyzing the total ozone data from TOMS and ground-based observations, it is found that a large area with extremely low ozone occurred over the Tibetan Plateau during December 14-17, 2003. After correcting the bias in TOMS data, the area with the total ozone < 220 DU is found to be over 2500000 km2, and the minimum value is only 190 DU. | 2 | A kinetic study of the reaction of ozone with ethylene in a smog chamber under atmospheric conditions显示文摘Ozone is one of the key species in the processes of atmospheric chemistry, which can be taken as an indicator of oxidation capacity in the troposphere. The reaction of ozone with reactive gases is an important process in the troposphere. Experimental simulation equipment of smog chamber for atmospheric reactions is used to study the reaction of ozone with ethylene in real atmospheric environment with ozone concentrations of 100―200 ppb. The concentrations of ozone and ethylene were moni-tored during the reaction with the combination of Model 49C-O_3 Analyzer and GC-FID. A rate constant of 1.01×10^(-18) (cm^3·mol^(-1)·s-(~1)) was obtained at 286.5 K, under condition of which the half-life of ozone was 88 min. The results obtained from our experiments are in excellent agreement with those reported previously by other researchers under extremely low pressure in terms of matrixisolation technology. | 3 | CO_2 background concentration in the atmosphere over the Chinese mainland显示文摘Based on the long-term monitoring data on CO2 concentration, variation trend and characteristics of CO2 background concentration in the atmosphere over the Chinese mainland are analyzed. Results show that the increasing trend of CO2 background concentration in the atmosphere over the Chinese mainland has appeared during the period of 1991-2000. The average annual CO2 growth increment is 1.59μL/L, and the average annual CO2 growth rate is 0.44%. Distinct seasonal variations of CO2 background concentration are observed, and the averaged amplitude of CO2 seasonal variations is 10.35μL/L. | 4 | Deriving Temporal and Vertical Distributions of Methane in Xianghe Using Ground-based Fourier Transform Infrared and Gas-analyzer Measurements显示文摘Methane(CH4)is one of the most important greenhouse gases in the atmosphere,making it worthwhile to study its temporal and vertical distributions in source areas,e.g.,North China.For this purpose,a ground-based high-resolution Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR),the Bruker IFS 125 HR,along with an in-situ instrument,the Picarro G2301,were deployed in Xianghe County(39.8°N,117.0°E),Hebei Province,China.Data have been recorded since June2018.For the FTIR measurements,we used two observation modes to retrieve the mole fraction of CH4:the Total Carbon Column Observing Network(TCCON)method(retrieval algorithm:GGG2014),and the Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change(NDACC)method(retrieval algorithm:SFIT4).Combining FTIR with in-situ measurements,we found the temporal and vertical distributions of atmospheric CH4 within three vertical layers(near the ground,in the troposphere,and in the stratosphere),and throughout the whole atmosphere.Regarding the diurnal variation of CH4 near the ground,the concentration at night was higher than during the daytime.Regarding the seasonal variation,CH4 was low in spring and high in summer,for all three vertical layers.In addition,there was a peak of CH4 in winter near the ground,both in the troposphere and the whole atmosphere.We found that variation of CH4 in the tropospheric column was close to that of the in-situ measurements near the ground.Furthermore,the variations of CH4 in the stratospheric column could be influenced by vertical motions,since it was higher in summer and lower in winter. | Denghui JI Minqiang ZHOU Pucai WANG Yang YANG Ting WANG Xiaoyu SUN Christian HERMANS Bo YAO Gengchen WANG | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,6: | 2 |

| 10 | Long-Term Trends of Carbon Monoxide Total Columnar Amount in Urban Areas and Background Regions:Ground-and Satellite-based Spectroscopic Measurements显示文摘A comparative study was carried out to explore carbon monoxide total columnar amount(CO TC) in background and polluted atmosphere, including the stations of ZSS(Zvenigorod), ZOTTO(Central Siberia), Peterhof, Beijing, and Moscow,during 1998–2014, on the basis of ground-and satellite-based spectroscopic measurements. Interannual variations of CO TC in different regions of Eurasia were obtained from ground-based spectroscopic observations, combined with satellite data from the sensors MOPITT(2001–14), AIRS(2003–14), and IASI Met Op-A(2010–13). A decreasing trend in CO TC(1998–2014) was found at the urban site of Beijing, where CO TC decreased by 1.14% ± 0.87% yr^(-1). Meanwhile, at the Moscow site, CO TC decreased remarkably by 3.73% ± 0.39% yr^(-1). In the background regions(ZSS, ZOTTO, Peterhof), the reduction was 0.9%–1.7% yr^(-1) during the same period. Based on the AIRSv6 satellite data for the period 2003–14, a slight decrease(0.4%–0.6% yr^(-1)) of CO TC was detected over the midlatitudes of Eurasia, while a reduction of 0.9%–1.2% yr^(-1) was found in Southeast Asia. The degree of correlation between the CO TC derived from satellite products(MOPITTv6 Joint, AIRSv6 and IASI Met Op-A) and ground-based measurements was calculated, revealing significant correlation in unpolluted regions.While in polluted areas, IASI Met Op-A and AIRSv6 data underestimated CO TC by a factor of 1.5–2.8.
