Expert consensus on early childhood caries management显示文摘Early childhood caries(ECC)is a significant chronic disease of childhood and a rising public health burden worldwide.ECC may cause a higher risk of new caries lesions in both primary and permanent dentition, affecting lifelong oral health. The occurrence of ECC has been closely related to the core microbiome change in the oral cavity, which may be influenced by diet habits, oral health management, fluoride use,and dental manipulations. So,it is essential to improve parental oral health and awareness of health care,to establish a dental home at the early stage of childhood, and make an individualized caries management plan.Dental interventions according to the minimally invasive concept should be carried out to treat dental caries. This expert consensus mainly discusses the etiology of ECC,caries-risk assessment of children, prevention and treatment plan of ECC,aiming to achieve lifelong oral health.Jing Zou Qin Du Lihong Ge Jun Wang Xiaojing Wang Yuqing Li Guangtai Song Wei Zhao Xu Chen Beizhan Jiang Yufeng Mei Yang Huang Shuli Deng Hongmei Zhang Yanhong Li Xuedong Zhou 2022International Journal of Oral Science2022,14,3:5
Development of sensor systems for precision agriculture in cotton显示文摘Precision agriculture(PA)is an information-based technology, using detailed information within an agricultural field to optimize production inputs on a spatially variable basis, maximize farm profit, and minimize environmental impact.Information collection and processing plays a very important role in PA.In recent years PA technologies have been gradually adopted in cotton production.Several sensor systems for PA were developed and field-evaluated in cotton, including a plant height measurement system(PHMS),the Mississippi cotton yield monitor(MCYM),and cotton fiber quality mapping. The PHMS used an ultrasonic sensor to scan the plant canopy and determine plant height in real time in situ.A plant height map was generated with the data collected with the PHMS.Cotton plant height showed a close relationship with yield(R2=0.63)and leaf-nitrogen content(R2=0.48).The MCYM was developed for cotton yield mapping.A patented mass-flow sensor technology was employed in the MCYM.The sensor measured optical reflectance of cotton particles passing through the sensor and used the measured reflectance to determine cotton-mass flow rates.Field tests indicated that the MCYM could measure cotton yield with an average error less than 5%,and it was easy to install and maintain. The cotton fiber-quality mapping research involved a wireless cotton module-tracking system(WCMTS)and a cotton fiber quality mapping system(CFQMS).The WCMTS was based on the concept that a cotton fiber-quality map could be generated with spatial information collected by the system during harvesting coupled with fiber quality information available in cotton classing offices. The WCMTS was constructed and tested, and it operated according to design, with module-level fiber-quality maps easily made from the collected data. The CFQMS was designed and fabricated to perform real-time measurement of cotton fiber quality as the cotton is harvested in the field.Test results indicated that the sensor was capable of accurately estimating fiber micronaire in lint cotton(R2=0.99),but estimating fiber quality in seed cotton was more difficult.Cotton fiber quality maps can be used with cotton yield maps for developing field profit maps and optimizing production inputs.Ruixiu Sui J.Alex Thomasson Yufeng Ge 2012International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2012,5,4:3
Hyperspectral reflectance-based phenotyping for quantitative genetics in crops: Progress and challenges显示文摘Many biochemical and physiological properties of plants that are of interest to breeders and geneticists have extremely low throughput and/or can only be measured destructively. This has limited the use of information on natural variation in nutrient and metabolite abundance,as well as photosynthetic capacity in quantitative genetic contexts where it is necessary to collect data from hundreds or thousands of plants.A number of recent studies have demonstrated the potential to estimate many of these traits from hyperspectral reflectance data, primarily in ecophysiological contexts. Here,we summarize recent advances in the use of hyperspectral reflectance data for plant phenotyping, and discuss both the potential benefits and remaining challenges to its application in plant genetics contexts. The performances of previously published models in estimating six traits fromhyperspectral reflectance data in maizewere evaluated on newsample datasets, and the resulting predicted trait values shown to be heritable(e.g.,explained by genetic factors)were estimated. The adoption of hyperspectral reflectance-based phenotyping beyond its current uses may accelerate the study of genes controlling natural variation in biochemical and physiological traits.Marcin Grzybowski Nuwan K.Wijewardane Abbas Atefi Yufeng Ge James C.Schnable 2021Plant Communications2021,2,4:2
Transcriptome dynamics of hippocampal neurogenesis in macaques across the lifespan and aged humans显示文摘Whether adult hippocampal neurogenesis(AHN)persists in adult and aged humans continues to be extensively debated.A major question is whether the markers identified in rodents are reliable enough to reveal new neurons and the neurogenic trajectory in primates. Here,to provide a better understanding of AHN in primates and to reveal more novel markers for distinct cell types,droplet-based single-nucleus RNA sequencing(snRNA-seq)is used to investigate the cellular heterogeneity and molecular characteristics of the hippocampi in macaques across the lifespan and in aged humans. All of the major cell types in the hippocampus and their expression profiles were identified. The dynamics of the neurogenic lineage was revealed and the diversity of astrocytes and microglia was delineated. In the neurogenic lineage, the regulatory continuum from adult neural stem cells(NSCs)to immature and mature granule cells was investigated.A group of primate-specific markers were identified. We validated ETNPPL as a primate-specific NSC marker and verified STMN1 and STMN2 as immature neuron markers in primates.Furthermore,we illustrate a cluster of active astrocytes and microglia exhibiting proinflammatory responses in aged samples. The interaction analysis and the comparative investigation on published datasets and ours imply that astrocytes provide signals inducing the proliferation, quiescence and inflammation of adult NSCs at different stages and that the proinflammatory status of astrocytes probably contributes to the decrease and variability of AHN in adults and elderly individuals.Wei Wang Mengdi Wang Meng Yang Bo Zeng Wenying Qiu Qiang Ma Xiaoxi Jing Qianqian Zhang Bosong Wang Chonghai Yin Jiyao Zhang Yuxin Ge Yufeng Lu Weizhi Ji Qian Wu Chao Ma Xiaoqun Wang 2022Cell Research2022,32,8:2
Biological effect and molecular mechanism study of biomaterials based on proteomic research显示文摘Along with the role transformation of biomaterials from bioinert substitute to regenerative inducer, the biological effect and mechanism of material-organism interaction become more important. Since most of animal tests and cellular experiments stay on the phenomenon description instead of mechanism interpretation, the development of proteomics technologies provides a golden opportunity to uncover the molecular interaction mechanism between biomaterial-organism on whole scale. This review summarizes current application of proteomics in biological effect and mechanism study of biomaterials, and discusses the development and challenges for future studies.Zhen Zhen Yufeng Zheng Zigang Ge Chen Lai Tingfei Xi 2017Journal of Materials Science & Technology2017,33,7:1
Tracing the impact of stack configuration on interface resistances in reverse electrodialysis by in situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy显示文摘Reverse electrodialysis(RED)is an emerging membrane-based technology for the production of renewable energy from mixing waters with different salinities.Herein, the impact of the stack configuration on the Ohmic and non-Ohmic resistances as well as the performance of RED were systematically studied by using in situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).Three different parameters(membrane type, number of cell pairs and spacer design)were controlled. The Ohmic and non-Ohmic resistances were evaluated for RED stacks equipped with two types of commercial membranes(Type I and Type II)supplied by Fujifilm Manufacturing Europe B.V:Type I Fuji membranes displayed higher Ohmic and non-Ohmic resistances than Type II membranes, which was mainly attributed to the difference in fixed charge density. The output power of the stack was observed to decrease with the increasing number of cell pairs mainly due to the increase in ionic shortcut currents. With the reduction in spacer thickness from 750 to 200μm,the permselectivity of membranes in the stack decreased from 0.86 to 0.79 whereas the energy efificiency losses increased from 31%to 49%.Overall,the output of the present study provides a basis for understanding the impact of stack design on internal losses during the scaling-up of RED.Wenjuan Zhang Bo Han Ramato Ashu Tufa Chuyang Tang Xunuo Liu Ge Zhang Jing Chang Rui Zhang Rong Mu Caihong Liu Dan Song Junjing Li Jun Ma Yufeng Zhang 2022Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022,16,4:1

Nitrate removal to its fate in wetland mesocosm filled with sponge iron:Impact of influent COD/N ratio显示文摘Sponge iron(s-Fe°)is a porous metal with the potential to be an electron donor for denitrification. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of using s-Fe as the substrate of wetland mesocosms. Here, wetland mesocosms with the addition of s-Fe'particles(CW-Fc)and a blank control group(CW-CK)were established. The NOj-N reduction property and water quality parameters(pH.DO.and ORP)were examined at three COD/N ratios(0.5.and 10).Results showed that the NO3--N removal efficiencies were significantly increased by 6.6 to 58.9%in the presence of s-Fe NH4+-N was mainly produced by chemical denitrification, and approximately 50% of the NO3--N was reduced to N4+-N,at the COD ratio of 0.An increase of the influent COD/N ratio resulted in lower chemical denitrification and higher bio-dcnitrification.Although chemical denitrification mediated by s-Fe led to an accumulation of NH4+-N at COD/N ratios of 0 and 5.the TIN removal efficiencies increased by 4.5#12.4#.Moreover,the effluent pll,DO.and ORP values showed a significant negative correlation with total Fe and Fe(II)(P<0.01).High-throughput sequencing analysis indicated that Trichococctis(77.2%)was the most abundant microorganism in the CW-Fc mcsocosm, while Thauera,Zoogloea.and Herbaspirillum were the primary denitrifying bacteria. The denitrifiers,Simplicispira,IXxhloronwnas, and Denirratisoma.were the dominant bacteria for CW-CK.This study provides a valuable method and an improved understanding of NOj-N reduction characteristics of s-Fc in a wetland mcsocosm.Zhihao Si Xinshan Song Xin Cao Yuhui Wang Yifei Wang Yufeng Zhao Xiaoyan Ge Awet Arefe Tesfahunegn 2020Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2020,14,1:1

Evaluation of UAV-derived multimodal remote sensing data for biomass prediction and drought tolerance assessment in bioenergy sorghum显示文摘Screening for drought tolerance is critical to ensure high biomass production of bioenergy sorghum in arid or semi-arid environments. The bottleneck in drought tolerance selection is the challenge of accurately predicting biomass for a large number of genotypes. Although biomass prediction by lowaltitude remote sensing has been widely investigated on various crops, the performance of the predictions are not consistent, especially when applied in a breeding context with hundreds of genotypes. In some cases, biomass prediction of a large group of genotypes benefited from multimodal remote sensing data;while in other cases, the benefits were not obvious. In this study, we evaluated the performance of single and multimodal data(thermal, RGB, and multispectral) derived from an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) for biomass prediction for drought tolerance assessments within a context of bioenergy sorghum breeding. The biomass of 360 sorghum genotypes grown under well-watered and water-stressed regimes was predicted with a series of UAV-derived canopy features, including canopy structure, spectral reflectance, and thermal radiation features. Biomass predictions using canopy features derived from the multimodal data showed comparable performance with the best results obtained with the single modal data with coefficients of determination(R2) ranging from 0.40 to 0.53 under water-stressed environment and0.11 to 0.35 under well-watered environment. The significance in biomass prediction was highest with multispectral followed by RGB and lowest with the thermal sensor. Finally, two well-recognized yieldbased drought tolerance indices were calculated from ground truth biomass data and UAV predicted biomass, respectively. Results showed that the geometric mean productivity index outperformed the yield stability index in terms of the potential for reliable predictions by the remotely sensed data.Collectively, this study demonstrated a promising strategy for the use of different UAV-based imaging sensors to quantify yield-based drought tolerance.Jiating Li Daniel P.Schachtman Cody F.Creech Lin Wang Yufeng Ge Yeyin Shi 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,5:1
The Effect of the Cyp19a1 Gene Methylation Modification on Temperature-dependent Sex Determination of Reeves' Turtle(Mauremys reevesii)显示文摘Temperature-dependent sex determination(TSD) is a type of environmental sex determination in which the sex of the embryos depends on the ambient temperature; however, the molecular mechanisms governing this process remain unknown.Aromatase, encoded by the cyp19a1 gene, which converts androgens into estrogens in animals, was considered to be the key gene for TSD.In this study, the 5'-flanking region of the cyp19a1 gene in Reeves' turtle(Mauremys reevesii) was cloned, and the promoter region was identified using the luciferase reporter assay. Then the eggs of Reeves' turtle were incubated at different temperatures(26°C: male-biased temperature; 29°C: non-sex-biased temperature and 32°C: female-biased temperature).During the thermosensitive period, the adrenal kidney gonad complexes(AKG) were sampled.DNA methylation analysis of the AKG samples showed that the promoter region of the cyp19a1 gene was significantly de-methylated in the female-biased temperature regime(P<0.01).Quantitative analysis of the cyp19a1 gene and estrogen by q PCR and Elisa assay showed that the expression level of the cyp19a1 gene and estrogen content were both upregulated significantly at the female-biased temperature(P<0.01).These results indicated that the de-methylation response of the cyp19a1 gene to incubation temperature, especially at the female-biased temperature, could lead to temperature-specific expression of aromatase and increased estrogen levels, which may further determine gonadal development in Reeves' turtle. These findings provide insights into the genetic mechanisms underlying TSD.Wenxiu RU Liushuai HUA Yufeng WEI Weiye LI Dainan CAO Yan GE Hong CHEN Xianyong LAN Shiping GONG 2017Asian Herpetological Research2017,18,3:1
Rapid bioluminescence assay for monitoring rat CES1 activity and its alteration by traditional Chinese medicines显示文摘In traditional Chinese medicine herbs(TCM),including Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae(Danshen),Radix Puerariae Lobatae(Gegen),Radix Angelicae Sinensis(Danggui),and Rhizoma Chuanxiong(Chuanxiong)are widely used for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and also often co-administered with Western drugs as a part of integrative medicine practice.Carboxylesterase 1(CES1)plays a pivotal role in the metabolisms of pro-drugs,Since(S)-2-(2-(6-dimethylamino)-benzothiazole)-4,5-dihydrothiazole-4-carboxylate(NLMe)has recently been identified by us as a selective CES1 bioluminescent sensor,we developed a rapid method using this substrate for the direct measurement of CES1 activity in rats. This bioluminescence assay was applied to determine CES1 activity in rat tissues after a two-week oral administration of each of the four herbs noted above. The results demonstrated the presence of CES1 enzyme in rat blood and all tested tissues with much higher enzyme activity in the blood, liver, kidney and heart than that in the small intestine, spleen, lung, pancreas, brain and stomach. In addition, the four herbs showed tissue-specific effects on rat CES1 expression.Based on the CES1 biodistribution and its changes after treatment in rats, the possibility that Danshen,Gegen and Danggui might alter CES1 activities in human blood and kidney should be considered. In summary,a selective and sensitive bioluminescence assay was developed to rapidly evaluate CES1 activity and the effects of orally administered TCMs in rats.Jun Zhang Dandan Wang Liwei Zou Min Xiao Yufeng Zhang Ziwei Li Ling Yang Guangbo Ge Zhong Zuo 2020Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,3:1

Cobalt doped Fe-Mn@CNTs catalysts with highly stability for lowtemperature selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x)显示文摘In this paper,we report the fabrication of cobalt-doped de-NO_(x)catalyst by pyrolyzing an analogous metal-organic framework-74(MOF-74)containing Fe&Mn.The resulted catalyst exhibits distinctive microstructures of manganese, cobalt, and iron immobilized on N-doped carbon nanotubes(CNTs).It is found through experiments that the trimetallic catalyst Fe_(2)Mn_(1)Co_(0.5)/CNTs-50 has the best NH_(3)-selective catalytic reduction(SCR)performance. The Fe_(2)Mn_(1)Co_(0.5)/CNTs-50 exhibited excellent water and sulfur resistance and good stability under the harsh gas environment of 250℃ and/or 170℃,NO=NH_(3)=1,000 ppm,8 vol.%O_(2),20 vol.%H2O,1,000 ppm SO_(2),and gas hourly space velocity(GHSV)=75,000 h^(-1).The de-NO_(x)conversion was maintained about 55%and 25%after 192 h.The water and sulfur resistance performance were much higher than commercial vanadium series catalyst. The highly water and sulfur resistance performance may be attributed to the unique core-shell microstructure and the synergistic effect of manganese, cobalt, and iron which helps reduce the formation for byproducts(NH_(4)HSO_(4)).This study may promote to explore the development of a high stability catalyst for low-temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x)with NH_(3).Pengfei Li Tiezhen Zhang Haixiao Sun Yufeng Gao Yanyuan Zhang Yuanyuan Liu Chengmin Ge Hao Chen Xiaoping Dai Xin Zhang 2022Nano Research2022,15,4:1
High Thermal Conductivity of Carboxyl-rich Carbon/Polyethylene Glycol Composites for Enhanced Photothermal Conversion and Latent Heat Storage显示文摘Polyethylene glycol(PEG)as phase change material(PCM)and carboxyl-rich carbon(RHTC)with different carboxyl content was introduced to prepare RHTC/PEG composites. The composites have high thermal conductivity, photothermal conversion ability, and improved the phase change enthalpy of the system. The microstructure and thermal properties of the samples were analyzed by various characterization methods.RHTC promoted the benign growth of PEG crystallinity(110.0%),influenced the phase change enthalpy of PEG,and improved the latent heat storage capacity of composites. The non-leakage loading of PEG in the composites can be as high as 97 wt%,and the actual phase change enthalpy is 10.7 J/g higher than that of pure PEG,10%higher than the theoretical value.Owing to the heat storage bridge formed between PEG and RHTC,the thermal conductivity of the composites was up to 0.51 W/mK,which was 99.4%higher than that of PEG.Besides, the introduction of environmentally friendly and low-cost RHTC gives the composites excellent photothermal conversion capability, and its photothermal conversion energy storage efficiency is as high as 90.1%.These results prove that the prepared composites are promising potential candidates in the field of thermal storage and thermal management systems.Huizhi Yang Yufeng Bai Chunhua Ge Shangyu Li Xiangdong Zhang 2021Chinese Journal of Chemistry2021,39,12:0
Effects of Acute Temperature Stress on mRNA Expression of Transferrin in the Yellow Pond Turtle Mauremys mutica显示文摘The yellow pond turtle Mauremys mutica is widely cultured using both greenhouse-reared and outdoor pond-reared models.Individuals from the two models often show different tolerances to dramatic temperature changes caused by extreme weather events. However, the mechanism underlying the difference is unclear. In this study,we found that for greenhouse-reared turtles(GRTs),the expression levels of an immune-related gene for transferrin were significantly different(P<0.05)between the control group and the acute cold stress(ACS)group for most time points(3 h,6 h and 48 h),while at two time points(6 h and 12 h)there was a significant difference(P<0.05)between the control group and the acute heat stress(AHS)group. However, for the outdoor pond-reared turtles(OPTs),we found the opposite pattern:the ACS group showed no significant difference(P>0.05)from the control group for all time points(3 h,6 h,12 h,24 h and 48 h),whereas two time points(12 h and 24 h)were significantly different(P<0.05)for the AHS group. Our results indicate that ACS may influence the immunity of GRTs and have no influence on OPTs,whereas AHS may largely affect the immunity of OPTs and have little influence on GRTs.The findings provide insights into the mechanism underlying the different morbidity and mortality rates of turtles from different culture models after extreme weather events.Yufeng WEI Yangchun GAO Dainan CAO Yan GE Haitao SHI Shiping GONG 2020Asian Herpetological Research2020,11,2:0
A Preliminary Screening of Optimum Medium and Symbiotic Fungi for Paphiopedilum dianthum显示文摘[Objectives]This study aimed to screen the suitable medium and symbiotic fungi for tissue culture of Paphiopedilum dianthum and to establish a rapid propagation system of Paphiopedilum,so as to promote the development of planting industry and commercial application of Paphiopedilum.[Methods]Using P.dianthum as an experimental materials, the optimal culture medium for P.dianthum was selected from DE medium,Harvais modified medium and(bark+DE)liquid medium. Then, six fungal species isolated from the original habitat soil of Paphiopedilum were co-cultured with P.dianthum on the selected optimal culture medium.By comparing the morphology, the growth amount and the physiological indexes, such as chlorophyll content, soluble sugar content and root vitality of tissue culture plantlets of P.dianthum co-cultured with the six fungal species, the suitable fungal strains for symbiosis with P.dianthum were screened out.[Results]In three kinds of culture media,P.dianthum grew normally. The growth rate was higher than that in the mediums containing DE,and there were no significant differences in the content of soluble sugar from the leaves of tissue culture plantlets, which were symbiotic with the six different fungi species.Among the six fungi species growing on the optimal medium, the growing rate of XH-A was the fastest, and that of YY001 was the slowest. The growth and physiological indexes of P.dianthum co-cultured with DY1 in DE medium were higher than those in the control group.[Conclusions]DE medium was the optimal tissue culture medium for P.dianthum, and the optimal symbiotic fungus was DY1.Cuiping CAO Man SHEN Yufeng XU Ruidong JIA Hong GE 2021Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,2:0
