| 1 | Modeling the circulation and sediment transport in the Beibu Gulf显示文摘Water circulation and sediment transport in the Beibu Gulf are important for its environmental protection and resource exploitation.By employing the Regional Ocean Modeling System(ROMS),we studied the seasonal variation of circulation,sediment transport and long-term morphological evolution in the Beibu Gulf.The simulation results show that the circulation induced by tide and wind is cyclonic both in winter and summer in the gulf and that the wind-driven circulation is stronger in winter than that in summer.The sediment concentration is higher in the Qiongzhou Strait,west of the Hainan Island and the coast of Vietnam and the Leizhou Peninsula.The sediment is transported westwards in winter and eastwards in summer in the Qiongzhou Strait.The west entrance of the Qiongzhou Strait is dominated by westward transport all the year round.The sediment discharged by rivers is deposited near the river mouths.The simulated result demonstrates that the sediment transport is mainly controlled by tidal induced bottom resuspension in the Beibu Gulf.Four characteristics are summarized for the distribution patterns of erosion and deposition.(1) The erosion and deposition are insignificant in most area of the gulf.(2) Sediment deposition is more significant in the mouths of Qiongzhou Strait.(3) The erosion is observed in the seabed of Qiongzhou Strait.(4) Erosion and deposition occur alternatively in the west of Hainan Island. | CHENG Gaolei GONG Wenping WANG Yaping XIA Zhen | 2017 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2017,36,4: | 5 |

| 3 | Development of the novel ACLY inhibitor 326E as a promising treatment for hypercholesterolemia显示文摘Hepatic cholesterol accumulation is an important contributor to hypercholesterolemia,which results in atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease(CVD).ATP-citrate lyase(ACLY)is a key lipogenic enzyme that converts cytosolic citrate derived from tricarboxylic acid cycle(TCA cycle)to acetyl-CoA in the cytoplasm.Therefore,ACLY represents a link between mitochondria oxidative phosphorylation and cytosolic de novo lipogenesis.In this study,we developed the small molecule 326E with an enedioic acid structural moiety as a novel ACLY inhibitor,and its CoA-conjugated form 326E-CoA inhibited ACLY activity with an IC_(50)=5.31±1.2μmol/L in vitro.326E treatment reduced de novo lipogenesis,and increased cholesterol efflux in vitro and in vivo.326E was rapidly absorbed after oral administration,exhibited a higher blood exposure than that of the approved ACLY inhibitor bempedoic acid(BA)used for hypercholesterolemia.Chronic 326E treatment in hamsters and rhesus monkeys resulted in remarkable improvement of hyperlipidemia.Once daily oral administration of 326E for 24 weeks prevented the occurrence of atherosclerosis in ApoE^(-/-)mice to a greater extent than that of BA treatment.Taken together,our data suggest that inhibition of ACLY by 326E represents a promising strategy for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. | Zhifu Xie Mei Zhang Qian Song Long Cheng Xinwen Zhang Gaolei Song Xinyu Sun Min Gu Chendong Zhou Yangming Zhang Kexin Zhu Jianpeng Yin Xiaoyan Chen Jingya Li Fajun Nan | 2023 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,2: | 1 |

| 14 | Molecular phylogeny of coronaviruses including human SARS-CoV显示文摘Phylogenetic tree of coronaviruses (CoVs) including the human SARS-associated virus is reconstructed from complete genomes by using our newly developed K- string composition approach. The relation of the human SARS-CoV to other coronaviruses, i.e. the rooting of the tree is suggested by choosing an appropriate outgroup. SARS-CoV makes a separate group closer but still distant from G2 (CoVs in mammalian host). The relation between different isolates of the human SARS virus is inferred by first constructing an ultrametric distance matrix from counting sequence variations in the genomes. The resulting tree is consistent with clinic relations between the SARS-CoV isolates. | 15 | Million-Q integrated Fabry-Perot cavity using ultralow-loss multimode retroreflectors显示文摘The monolithic integration of Fabry-Perot cavities has many applications,such as label-free sensing,high-finesse filters,semiconductor lasers,and frequency comb generation.However,the excess loss of integrated reflectors makes it challenging to realize integrated Fabry-Perot cavities working in the ultrahigh-Q regime(>10^(6)).Here,we propose and experimentally demonstrate what we believe is the first silicon integrated million-Q Fabry-Perot cavity.Inspired by free-space optics,a novel monolithically integrated retroreflector is utilized to obtain near-unity reflectance and negligible reflection losses.The corner scattering in the retroreflector is prevented by the use of the TE_(1) mode,taking advantage of its zero central field intensity.Losses incurred by other mechanisms are also meticulously engineered.The measurement results show resonances with an ultrahigh intrinsic Q factor of≈3.4×10^(6)spanning an 80-nm bandwidth.The measured loaded Q factor is≈2.1×10^(6).Ultralow reflection losses(≈0.05 dB)and propagation losses(≈0.18 dB/cm)are experimentally realized. | HONGNAN XU YUE QIN GAOLEI HU HON KI TSANG | 2022 | Photonics Research2022,10,11: | 0 |
| 16 | Clay Mineralogy and its Paleoclimatic Significance of the OligoceneMiocene Sediments in the Gerze Basin, Tibet显示文摘This study collected the early Oligocene to middle Miocene sediments from the Gerze Basin of Tibet, and used X-Ray diffraction(XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) to discuss their clay mineralolgy, clay indices, better understand the clay mineralogy and its paleoclimatic significance. The results show that clay minerals of the Gerze Basin sediments are mainly composed of illite and chlorite, with minor amounts of smectite and kaolinite, and their relative content varies along the section. Variations of relative contents and clay indices suggest that the Gerze Basin has experienced three-stage evolution of paleoclimate: Ⅰ) high illite and chlorite contents, with fluctuant smectite and low(I+Ch)/(K+S) ratio, indicative of a dominant seasonal arid climate from the early Oligocene to late Oligocene; Ⅱ) higher illite and chlorite contents and larger(I+Ch)/(K+S) ratio but absence of kaolinite, indicating a colder and drier climate from the late Oligocene to early Miocene; Ⅲ) high illite and chlorite contents with fluctuant(I+Ch)/(K+S) ratios and occasional occurrence of kaolinite, suggesting that the climate became warmer and more humid compared with that of stage Ⅱin the mid-Miocene. These conclusions were also reinforced by the clay morphology, which suggests that physical weathering dominated in stage Ⅱ, while relatively strong chemical weathering was dominant in stages Ⅰ and Ⅲ. Clay minerals of the sediments mainly consist of illite and chlorite, indicating that the source rock played a significant role in clay origin. It is inferred that global cooling and the enhancement of denudation and obstruction of northward moisture due to the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were responsible for the provenance of illite and chlorite under weak chemical weathering. | 17 | Breaking the resolution-bandwidth limit of chip-scale spectrometry by harnessing a dispersion-engineered photonic molecule显示文摘The chip-scale integration of optical spectrometers may offer new opportunities for in situ bio-chemical analysis,remote sensing,and intelligent health care.The miniaturization of integrated spectrometers faces the challenge of an inherent trade-off between spectral resolutions and working bandwidths.Typically,a high resolution requires long optical paths,which in turn reduces the free-spectral range(FSR).In this paper,we propose and demonstrate a ground-breaking spectrometer design beyond the resolution-bandwidth limit.We tailor the dispersion of mode splitting in a photonic molecule to identify the spectral information at different FSRs.When tuning over a single FSR,each wavelength channel is encoded with a unique scanning trace,which enables the decorrelation over the whole bandwidth spanning multiple FSRs.Fourier analysis reveals that each left singular vector of the transmission matrix is mapped to a unique frequency component of the recorded output signal with a high sideband suppression ratio.Thus,unknown input spectra can be retrieved by solving a linear inverse problem with iterative optimizations.Experimental results demonstrate that this approach can resolve any arbitrary spectra with discrete,continuous,or hybrid features.An ultrahigh resolution of<40 pm is achieved throughout an ultrabroad bandwidth of>100 nm far exceeding the narrow FSR.An ultralarge wavelength-channel capacity of 2501 is supported by a single spatial channel within an ultrasmall footprint(≈60×60μm^(2)),which represents,to the best of our knowledge,the highest channel-to-footprint ratio(≈0.69μm^(−2))and spectral-to-spatial ratio(>2501)ever demonstrated to date. | Hongnan Xu Yue Qin Gaolei Hu Hon Ki Tsang | 2023 | Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,3: | 0 |
