1Exotic origin of the Chinese continental shelf: new insights into the tectonic evolution of the western Pacific and eastern China since the Mesozoic显示文摘The effect of paleo-Pacific subduction on the geological evolution of the western Pacific and continental China is likely complex. Nevertheless, our analysis of the distribution of Mesozoic granitoids in the eastern continental China in space and time has led us to an interesting conclusion: The basement of the continental shelf beneath East and South China Seas may actually be of exotic origin geologically unrelated to the continental lithosphere of eastern China. By accepting the notion that the Jurassic–Cretaceous granitoids in the region are genetically associated with western Pacific subduction and the concept that subduction may cease to continue only if the trench is being jammed, then the termination of the granitoidmagmatism throughout the vast region at *88 ± 2 Ma manifests the likelihood of ‘‘sudden'', or shortly beforehand(*100 Ma), trench jam of the Mesozoic western Pacific subduction. Trench jam happens if the incoming‘‘plate'' or portion of the plate contains a sizeable mass that is too buoyant to subduct. The best candidate for such a buoyant and unsubductable mass is either an oceanic plateau or a micro-continent. We hypothesize that the basement of the Chinese continental shelf represents such an exotic, buoyant and unsubductable mass, rather than seaward extension of the continental lithosphere of eastern China. The locus of the jammed trench(i.e., the suture) is predictably located on the shelf in the vicinity of, and parallel to, the arc-curved coastal line of the southeast continental China. It is not straightforward to locate the locus in the northern section of the East China Sea shelf because of the more recent(\20 Ma) tectonic re-organization associated with the opening of the Sea of Japan. We predict that the trench jam at *100 Ma led to the re-orientation of the Pacific plate motion in the course of NNW direction as inferred from the age-progressive Emperor Seamount Chain of Hawaiian hotspot origin(its oldest unsubdued Meiji and Detroit seamounts are *82 Ma),making the boundary between the Pacific plate and the newly accreted plate of eastern Asia a transform fault at the location east of the continental shelf of exotic origin. This explains the apparent *40 Myr magmatic gap from *88to *50 Ma prior to present-day western Pacific subduction initiation. We propose that basement penetration drilling on well-chosen sites is needed to test the hypothesis in order to reveal the true nature of the Chinese continental shelf basement. This testing becomes critical and cannot longer be neglected in order to genuinely understand the tectonic evolution of the western Pacific and its effect on the geology of eastern China since the Mesozoic, includingthe cratonic lithosphere thinning, related magmatism/mineralization, and the mechanism of the subsequent South China Sea opening, while also offering novel perspectives on aspects of the plate tectonics theory. We also suggest the importance of future plate tectonic reconstruction of the western Pacific to consider the nature and histories of the Chinese continental shelf of exotic origin as well as the probable transform plate boundary from *100 to*50 Ma. 3Hexagonal boron nitride nanosheet for effective ambient N2 fixation to NH3显示文摘Industrial production of NH3 from N2 and H2 significantly relies on Haber-Bosch process,which suffers from high energy consume and CO2 emission.As a sustainable and environmentally-benign alternative process,electrochemical artificial N2 fixation at ambient conditions,however,is highly required efficient electrocatalysts.In this study,we demonstrate that hexagonal boron nitride nanosheet (h-BNNS) is able to electrochemically catalyze N2 to NH3.In acidic solution,h-BNNS catalyst attains a high NH3 formation rate of 22.4 μg·h-1·mg-1cat.and a high Faradic efficiency of 4.7% at-0.75 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode,with excellent stability and durability.Density functional theory calculations reveal that unsaturated boron at the edge site can activate inert N2 molecule and significantly reduce the energy barrier for NH3 fonmation.Ya Zhang Huitong Du Yongjun Ma Lei Ji Haoran Guo Ziqi Tian Hongyu Chen Hong Huang Guanwei Cui Abdullah M. 7Global-Scale Diversity and Distribution Characteristics of Reef-Associated Symbiodiniaceae via the Cluster-Based Parsimony of Internal Transcribed Spacer 2 Sequences显示文摘Photosynthetic species belonging to Symbiodiniaceae play important ecological roles in coral reef ecosystems. Nine phylogenetically supported Symbiodiniaceae clades(each containing multiple genetically distinct molecular types) have been detected in reef-associated animals and in seawater or sediments near coral reef areas. Although major advances in research on Symbiodiniaceae diversity have been made, information on the global-scale diversity and distribution characteristics of Symbiodiniaceae clades/types is still limited or must be expanded because most studies on Symbiodiniaceae have mainly focused on a limited number of hosts associated with Symbiodiniaceae or coral reef areas. Here, the diversity and distribution characteristics of Symbiodiniaceae data derived from reef-associated animals and seawater or sediments near coral reef areas were analyzed using 3899 qualified Symbiodiniaceae internal transcribed spacer 2(ITS2) sequences retrieved from the GenBank database in May 2017. These sequences were annotated as Symbiodiniaceae ITS2 types via sequence alignment against database of Symbiodiniaceae ITS2 types. Results showed that photosynthetic Symbiodiniaceae ITS2 sequences could be annotated as 119 Symbiodiniaceae ITS2 types within nine clades(A–I), and Symbiodiniaceae ITS2 types mainly inhabited coral reefs between 30?N and 30?S. Symbiodiniaceae ITS2 types could be associated with multiple host taxa. Interestingly, these results implied that the distribution of Symbiodiniaceae ITS2 types was distinct in the Atlantic Ocean, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Indo-Pacific Ocean. 8TRANSCUTANEOUS ACUPOINT ELECTRIC STIMULATION IN COMBINATION WITH ENFLURANE ANESTHESIA FOR CRANIOCEREBRAL OPERATIONS显示文摘The reinforcing effect of transcutaneous acupoint electric stimulation(TAES)on enflurane anesthesia during craniotomy was studied.One hundred and ten neurosurgical patientswere randomly divided into three groups.Anesthesia was maintained with enflurane in Group A(n=40).In Group B,enflurane anesthesia was supplemented by TAES with Han’s acupoint nerve stimu-lator(HANS)at Hegu(LI 4),Yuyao(EX-HN 4)and Fengchi(GB 20)points on the operated side(n=40).In Group C,enflurane anesthesia was supplemented by TAES and scalp infiltration with 0.5%procaine solution(n=30).The results showed that the minimum alveolar concentration(MAC)of enflurane in Group B and C decreased by 37.8-47.0%and 42.1-66.1%respectively than thatin Group A.The hemodynamics was more stable during operation,and the patients recovered after operation in group B and C.It was concluded that TAES with HANS significantly the anesthetic effect and decreased the side effects of enflurane during operation,and that the triplecombination of TAES,enflurane and scalp infiltration with procaine appeared to be a better anestheticmethod for craniotomy.Wang Baoguo Wang Enzhen Chen Xinzhong Sun Fengli Yang Enhua, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Beijing 100050, China 1993World Journal of Acupuncture-Moxibustion1993,3,3:1
9Phylogenetically diverse endozoic fungi in the South China Sea sponges and their potential in synthesizing bioactive natural products suggested by PKS gene and cytotoxic activity analysis显示文摘Sponges are well documented to harbor large amounts of microbes.Though it is known that spongederived fungi are important sources for marine natural products,the phylogenetic diversity and biological function of sponge-associated fungi remain largely unknown.In this study,the diversity of culturable endozoic fungi in sponges from the South China Sea was revealed based on the ITS phylogenetic analysis.Meanwhile the fungal potential for producing bioactive natural products was estimated according to the detection of Beta-ketosynthase in the polyketide synthase(PKS)gene cluster and cytotoxic activity bioassay.As a result,diverse fungi including 14 genera(Aspergillus,Penicillium,Scolecobasidium,Eurotium,Alternaria,Fusarium,Hypocreales,Yarrowia,Candida,Hypoxylon,Sporidiobolus,Schizophyllum,Bjerkandera,and Trichosporon)in ten orders(Xylariales,Moniliales,Pleosporales,Saccharomycetales,Hypocreales,Eurotiales,Sporidiobolales,Agaricales,Aphyllophorales and Tremellales)of phyla Ascomycota and Basidiomycota were isolated with Aspergillus as the predominant component in the culturable fungal community.Particularly,genera Schizophyllum,Sporidiobolus,and Bjerkandera in phylum Basidiomycota and genus Yarrowia in phylum Ascomycota were isolated from marine sponges for the first time.PKS genes were detected in 12 isolates suggesting their potential for synthesizing PKS compounds.Among the 12 isolates with PKS genes,9 isolates displayed strong in vitro cytotoxic activity(e.g.IC50<50μg/ml)against human cancer cell lines A549,Bel-7402,A-375 and MRC-5.This study demonstrates the phylogenetically diverse endozoic fungi in South China Sea sponges,and highlights the potential of spongeassociated fungi in producing biologically active natural products.Zhisheng Yu Baohua Zhang Wei Sun Fengli Zhang Zhiyong Li 2013Fungal Diversity2013,,1:1

12Miro2 supplies a platform for Parkin translocation to damaged mitochondria显示文摘PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy is an important process in selective removal of damaged mitochondria, in which translocation of Parkin to damaged mitochondria is recognized as an initiation step. At present, how the damaged mitochondria are selectively recognized and targeted by Parkin is not fully understood. Here we show that Miro2, an outer mitochondrial membrane protein, undergoes demultimerization from a tetramer to a monomer and alteration in mitochondrial localization upon CCCP treatment, suggesting a CCCP-induced realignment of Miro2. The realignment of Miro2 is tightly regulated by PINK1-mediated phosphorylation at Ser325/Ser430 and by Ca^2+binding to EF2 domain, which are both essential for the subsequent Parkin translocation. Interestingly, ablation of Miro2 in mouse causes delayed reticulocyte maturation, lactic acidosis and cardiac disorders. Furthermore, several Miro2 mutations found in the congenital lactic acidosis patients also disable its realignment and Parkin translocation. 16Fine-tuning the structure-tolerance-antitumor efficacy axis of prodrug nanoassemblies via branched aliphatic functionalization显示文摘Small-molecule prodrug nanoassemblies have emerged as efficient antitumor drug delivery systems.However,in the case of camptothecins-based prodrug nanoassemblies,linear aliphatic side chain modification often results in rod-shaped or irregularly shaped nanoassemblies,which are highly unfavorable for sterilization through filtration,and may cause capillary blockage upon intravenous injection.The rational design of camptothecins-based prodrug nanoassemblies remains a challenge.Herein,we propose that branched aliphatic alcohol(BAA)functionalization could fine-tune the structure-tolerance-antitumor efficacy axis of prodrug nanoassemblies.Correspondingly,four SN38-BAA prodrugs were synthesized by conjugating 7-ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin(SN38)with BAAs of varying lengths via a tumor redox-responsive disulfide bond,which self-assemble into uniform spherical nanoparticles.The length of BAA was found to significant impact the multiple drug delivery process,including colloidal stability,drug release profiles and pharmacokinetics.Overall,SN38-C21 NPs(SN38-11-heneicosanol nanoparticles),featuring the longest BAA,showcased multiple therapeutic advantages,ultimately culminating the optimal antitumor efficacy and tolerance.The findings underscore the potential of BAA functionalization in strengthening the therapeutic outcomes of prodrug nanoassemblies,and provide valuable insights for developing translational camptothecins-based nanomedicines.Guanting Li Fengli Xia Hongying Xiao Shunzhe Zheng Shuwen Fu Han Qiao Qianhui Jin Xuanbo Zhang Dun Zhou Chutong Tian Jin Sun Zhonggui He Bingjun Sun 2024Nano Research2024,17,4:0
