1Changes in nitrogen budget and potential risk to the environment over 20 years(1990–2010) in the agroecosystems of the Haihe Basin, China显示文摘The nitrogen balance can serve as an indicator of the risk to the environment of nitrogen loss from agricultural land. To investigate the temporal and spatial changes in agricultural nitrogen application and its potential threat to the environment of the Haihe Basin in China, we used a database of county-level agricultural statistics to calculate agricultural nitrogen input, output,surplus intensity, and use efficiency. Chemical fertilizer nitrogen input increased by 51.7% from1990 to 2000 and by 37.2% from 2000 to 2010, concomitant with increasing crop yields.Simultaneously, the nitrogen surplus intensity increased by 53.5% from 1990 to 2000 and by16.5% from 2000 to 2010, presenting a continuously increased environmental risk. Nitrogen use efficiency decreased from 0.46 in 1990 to 0.42 in 2000 and remained constant at 0.42 in 2010,partly due to fertilizer composition and type improvement. This level indicates that more than half of nitrogen inputs are lost in agroecosystems. Our results suggest that although the improvement in fertilizer composition and types has partially offset the decrease in nitrogen use efficiency, the environmental risk has still increased gradually over the past 20 years, along with the increase in crop yields and nitrogen application. 2Self-powered electrochromic devices with tunable infrared intensity显示文摘Triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG) is an efficient way to convert ambient mechanical energy into electricity to power up portable electronics.In this work,a flexible infrared electrochromical device(IR-ECD)with stable performances was assembled with a TENG for building self-powered infrared detector with tunable intensity.As driven by TENG,the electrochromic device could be operated in the mid-IR region due to the reversible electrochromic reactions.An average infrared reflectance contrast of 46% was achieved in 8–14 lm regions and as well a clear thermal image change can be observed.This work indicates that the TENG-driven infrared electrochromical device has potential for use in self-powered camouflage and thermal control.Jiangman sun xiong pu Chunyan Jiang Chunhua Du Mengmeng Liu Yang Zhang Zhitian Liu Junyi Zhai Weiguo Hu Zhong Lin Wang 2018Science Bulletin2018,63,12:6
3Hierarchically porous carbon/red phosphorus composite for high-capacity sodium-ion battery anode显示文摘Red phosphorus has received remarkable attention as a promising anode material for sodium ion batteries(NIBs) due to its high theoretical capacity. However, its practical application has been impeded by its intrinsic low electronic conductivity and large volume variations during sodiation/desodiation process. Here, we design a composite to confine nanosized red phosphorus into the hierarchically porous carbon(HPC) walls by a vaporization-condensation strategy. The mass loading of P in the HPC/P composite is optimized to deliver a reversible specific capacity of 2,202 m Ah/gpbased on the mass of red P(836 m Ah/gcompositebased on the total composite mass), a high capacity retention over 77% after100 cycles, and excellent rate performance of 929 m Ah/gpat 2 C. The hierarchical porous carbon serves as the conductive networks, downsize the red phosphorus to nanoscale, and provide free space to accommodate the large volume expansions. The suppressed mechanical failure of the red phosphorus also enhances the stability of solid-electrolyte interface(SEI) layer, which is confirmed by the microscopy and impedance spectroscopy after the cycling tests. 4Sustainable activation of peroxymonosulfate by the Mo(Ⅳ)in MoS_(2) for the remediation of aromatic organic pollutants显示文摘Although MoS_(2) has been proved to be a very ideal cocatalyst in advanced oxidation process(AOPs),the activation process of peroxy mono sulfate(PMS)is still inseparable from metal ions which inevitably brings the risk of secondary pollution and it is not conducive to large-scale industrial application.In this study,the commercial MoS_(2),as a durable and efficient catalyst,was used for directly activating PMS to degrade aromatic organic pollutant.The commercial MoS_(2)/PMS catalytic system demonstrated excellent removal efficiency of phenol and the total organic carbon(TOC)residual rate reach to 25%.The degradation rate was significantly reduced if the used MoS_(2) was directly carried out the next cycle experiment without any post-treatment.Interestingly,the commercial MoS_(2) after post-treated with H2 O_(2) can exhibit good stability and recyclability for cyclic degradation of phenol.Furthermore,the mechanism for the activation of PMS had been investigated by density functional theory(DFT)calculation.The renewable Mo4+exposed on the surface of MoS_(2) was deduced as the primary active site,which realized the direct activation of PMS and avoided secondary pollution.Taking into account the reaction cost and efficient activity,the development of commercial MoS_(2) catalytic system is expected to be applied in industrial wastewater.Mengmeng Du Qiuying Yi Jiahui Ji Qiaohong Zhu Huan Duan Mingyang Xing Jinlong Zhang 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:3
5Multi-temporal monitoring of wheat growth by using images from satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle显示文摘Recently near-ground remote sensing using unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)witnessed wide applications in obtaining field information.In this research,four Rapideye satellite images and eight RGB images acquired from UAV were used from early June to the end of July,2015 covering two experimental winter wheat fields,in order to monitor wheat canopy growth status and analyze the correlation among satellite images based normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)with UAV’s RGB images based visible-band difference vegetation index(VDVI)and ground variables of the sampled grain protein contents.Firstly,through image interpretation of UAV’s multi-temporal RGB images with fine spatial resolution,the wheat canopy color changes could be intuitively and clearly monitored.Subsequently,by monitoring the changes of satellite images based NDVI as well as VDVI values and UAV’s RGB images based VDVI values,the conclusions were made that these three vegetation indices demonstrated the same and synchronized trend of increasing at the early stage of wheat growth season,reaching up to peak values at the same timing,and starting to decrease since then.The results of the correlation analysis between NDVI of satellite images and sampled grain protein contents show that NDVI has good predicative capability for mapping grain protein content before ripening growth stage around June7,2015,while the reliability of using satellite image based NDVI to predict grain protein contents becomes worse as ripening stage approaches.The regression analysis between UAV’s RGB image based VDVI and satellite image based VDVI as well as NDVI showed good coefficients of determination.It is concluded that it is feasible and practical to temporally complement satellite remote sensing by using UAV’s RGB images based vegetation indices to monitor wheat growth status and to map within-field spatial variations of grain protein contents for small scale farmlands.Du Mengmeng Noguchi Noboru Itoh Atsushi Shibuya Yukinori 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,5:3
6A neglected GABAergic astrocyte:Calcium dynamics and involvement in seizure activity显示文摘Gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA) contributes substantially to neurocognitive function as an important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the human cerebral cortex. However, the pathophysiology of disorders such as epilepsy are not well understood, since GABA agonists are not quite effective in treating epilepsy. Knowledge of the mechanism of action of GABA would contribute to review previously proposed anti-epileptic processes by GABA agonists. In this study based on recent experiments on GABAergic astrocytes, we developed a modified GABAergic astrocyte model, and successfully simulated a long-lasting Ca^(2+) oscillation in astrocytes after 0.5-s stimulation of GABAergic transmission. We then incorporated this GABAergic astrocyte model into a classical Ullah-Schiff seizure model and surprisingly found that this GABAergic astrocyte model functions to hinder the anti-epileptic action of GABA agonists, thereby explaining their low efficiency in previous experiments. 8Study of coupled effect of impingement jet cooling of kerosene with solid structure显示文摘Characteristics of flow and heat transfer of kerosene impingement jets were studied numerically.The coupled effect of heat transfer of fluid and structure was investigated.Numerical simulation of fluid flow shows that compared to convective heat transfer of kerosene flow in cooling channels,impingement jet cooling significantly enhances heat transfer ability.At the same time,the pressure loss is below one atmospheric pressure.Both stress and strain of high temperature nickle-based alloy structure were analyzed with typical thermal loading and impingement cooling effect.The numerical results show that temperature distribution in the hot surface of the solid structure is relatively uniform and far below the maximum allowable temperature of the alloy material.The strength analysis shows that both stress and strain of the solid structure meet the material requirements.DU MengMeng ZHONG FengQuan XING YunFei ZHANG XinYu 2019Science China(Technological Sciences)2019,62,11:1

10PDGF-AA promotes cell-to-cell communication in osteocytes through PI3K/Akt signaling pathway显示文摘Osteocytes are the main sensitive cells in bone remodeling due to their potent functional cell processes from the mineralized bone matrix to the bone surface&the bone marrow.Neighboring osteocytes communicate with each other by these cell processes to achieve molecular exchange through gap junction channels.Platelet-derived growth factor-AA(PDGF-AA)has been reported to enhance bone tissue remodeling by promoting cell proliferation,migration,&autocrine secretion in osteoid cell linage.However,the effect of PDGF-AA on intercellular communication between osteocytes is still unclear.In the present study,we elucidated that PDGF-AA could enhance the formation of dendritic processes of osteocytes&the gap junctional intercellular communication by promoting the expression of connexin43(Cx43).This modulation process was mainly dependent on the activation of phosphorylation of Akt protein by phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt(also known as protein kinase B,PKB)signaling.Inhibition of PI3K/Akt signaling decreased the Cx43 expression induced by PDGF-AA.These results establish a bridge between PDGF-AA&cell–cell communication in osteocytes,which could help us understand the molecular exchange between bone cells and fracture healing.Yang Liu Mengmeng Duan Daimo Guo Shiyi Kan Li Zhang Munire Aili Demao Zhang Wei Du Jing Xie 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,12:1

12Microenvironmental stiffness mediates cytoskeleton re-organization in chondrocytes through laminin-FAK mechanotransduction显示文摘Microenvironmental biophysical factors play a fundamental role in controlling cell behaviors including cell morphology,proliferation,adhesion and differentiation,and even determining the cell fate.Cells are able to actively sense the surrounding mechanical microenvironment and change their cellular morphology to adapt to it.Although cell morphological changes have been considered to be the first and most important step in the interaction between cells and their mechanical microenvironment,their regulatory network is not completely clear.In the current study,we generated silicon-based elastomer polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)substrates with stiff(15:1,PDMS elastomer vs.curing agent)and soft(45:1)stiffnesses,which showed the Young’s moduli of~450 k Pa and 46 kPa,respectively,and elucidated a new path in cytoskeleton re-organization in chondrocytes in response to changed substrate stiffnesses by characterizing the axis shift from the secreted extracellular protein lamininβ1,focal adhesion complex protein FAK to microfilament bundling.We first showed the cellular cytoskeleton changes in chondrocytes by characterizing the cell spreading area and cellular synapses.We then found the changes of secreted extracellular linkage protein,lamininβ1,and focal adhesion complex protein,FAK,in chondrocytes in response to different substrate stiffnesses.These two proteins were shown to be directly interacted by Co-IP and colocalization.We next showed that impact of FAK on the cytoskeleton organization by showing the changes of microfilament bundles and found the potential intermediate regulators.Taking together,this modulation axis of lamininβ1-FAK-microfilament could enlarge our understanding about the interdependence among mechanosensing,mechanotransduction,and cytoskeleton re-organization.Chenchen Zhou Mengmeng Duan Daimo Guo Xinmei Du Demao Zhang Jing Xie 2022International Journal of Oral Science2022,14,2:0
13Confinement of ionomer for electrocatalytic CO_(2)reduction reaction via efficient mass transfer pathways显示文摘Gas diffusion electrodes(GDEs)mediate the transport of reactants,products and electrons for the electrocatalytic CO_(2)reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)in membrane electrode assemblies.The random distribution of ionomer,added by the traditional physical mixing method,in the catalyst layer of GDEs affects the transport of ions and CO_(2).Such a phenomenon results in elevated cell voltage and decaying selectivity at high current densities.This paper describes a pre-confinement method to construct GDEs with homogeneously distributed ionomer,which enhances mass transfer locally at the active centers.The optimized GDE exhibited comparatively low cell voltages and high CO Faradaic efficiencies(FE>90%)at a wide range of current densities.It can also operate stably for over 220 h with the cell voltage staying almost unchanged.This good performance can be preserved even with diluted CO_(2)feeds,which is essential for pursuing a high single-pass conversion rate.This study provides a new approach to building efficient mass transfer pathways for ions and reactants in GDEs to promote the electrocatalytic CO_(2)RR for practical applications.Xiaowei Du Peng Zhang Gong Zhang Hui Gao Lili Zhang Mengmeng Zhang Tuo Wang Jinlong Gong 2024National Science Review2024,11,2:0
14Response of MaHMA2 gene expression and stress tolerance to zinc stress in mulberry(Morus alba L.)显示文摘HMA2(heavy metal ATPase 2)plays a crucial role in extracellular and intracellular Zn^(2+)transport across biomembranes,maintaining ion homeostasis,and playing an important role in the normal physiological metabolism,growth,and development of plants.In our study,a novel HMA2 gene,named MaHMA2,was isolated and cloned from white mulberry(Morus alba L.).The gene sequence obtained was 1,342 bp long,with an open reading frame of 1,194 bp,encoding a protein of 397 amino acids,with a predicted molecular mass of 42.852 kD and an isoelectric point of 7.53.This protein belonged to the PIB-type ATPase transport protein family.We analyzed the expression of the MaHMA2 gene by quantitative real-time PCR.The results showed that the level of MaHMA2 gene expression decreased to a Zn concentration of 800 mg/kg.Malondialdehyde and proline levels increased and responded to increasing Zn when the MaHMA2 gene was silenced,whereas the activities of peroxidase and superoxide dismutase tended to increase in response to increasing Zn^(2+)ion stress concentrations but were lower in the gene-silenced plants.These findings suggested that the MaHMA2 gene played an active role in the tolerance response of mulberry to Zn stress.LEI WANG QIUXIA DU YISU SHI MICHAEL ACKAH PENG GUO DANYAN ZHENG MENGMENG WU XIN JIN PEILAN LI QIAONAN ZHANG RUIXUE LI ZHI YIN MENGDI ZHAO WEIGUO ZHAO 2022BIOCELL2022,46,10:0

16Simulating soil erodibility in southeastern China using a sequential Gaussian algorithm显示文摘Soil erodibility(K)is a key factor of soil erosion,and its appropriate quantification and interpolation are vitally important for soil and water conservation.The traditional point-represent-polygon approaches and common kriging method for the estimation of K,however,do not sufficiently represent the original data.The objectives of this study were to simulate the spatial distribution of K using a sequential Gaussian algorithm and analyze the uncertainty in evaluating the risk of soil erodibility in southeastern China.We determined 101 sampling points in the area and collected disturbed soil samples from the 0-20 cm layer at each point.Soil properties were determined,and K was calculated using five common models:the EPIC(Erosion/Productivity Impact Calculator),approximate nomograph,Torri,Shirazi,and Wang models.Among the chosen models,the EPIC model performed the best at estimating K(KEPIC),which ranged from 0.019 to 0.060 t ha h(ha MJ mm)^(-1),with a mean of 0.043 t ha h(ha MJ mm)^(-1).The KEPIC was moderately spatially variable and had a limited spatial structure,increasing from south to north in our study area,and all spatial simulations using the cooperative kriging(CK)interpolation and the sequential Gaussian simulation(SGS)with 10,25,50,100,200,and 500 realizations had acceptable accuracies.The CK interpolation narrowed the range,and the SGS maintained the original characteristics of the calculated data.The proportions of the risk area were 38.0% and 10.1%,when the risk probability for K was 60% and 80%,respectively,and high risk areas were mostly located in the north.The results provide scientific guidance for managing the risk of soil erodibility in southeastern China.Xuchao ZHU Yin LIANG Zhiyuan TIAN Yi ZHANG Yugang ZHANG Jing DU Xin WANG Yu LI Lili QU Mengmeng DAI 2021Pedosphere2021,31,5:0
17Reliability and consistency assessment of land cover products atmacro and local scales in typical cities显示文摘Urban areas have higher heterogeneity compared to natural areas,it is crucial to assessfine-resolution land cover products and discover how they differ in urban areas so that they can be efficiently used for various application scenarios.In this study,five typical cities in China were chosen as study areas to evaluate four commonly used 30 m land cover products:GLC_FCS30-2020,FROM-GLC30-2017,Globeland30-2020,and CLCD-2019.We analyzed the reliability of these four products using validation samples as well as by examining their area and spatial pattern consistency.Given the limitations of traditional accuracy assessments at the macro level,we added a local area evaluation to further examine the classification details in these products.The macro results indicated that four land cover products within urban areas have a similar overall accuracy,surpassing 76%,but there was a low consistency among them,ranging from 42.21%to 61.13%.The local accuracy assessment illustrated that GLC_FCS30-2020 and FROM-GLC30-2017 performed well in reflecting the intricate details of the city,however,the four products exhibited varying degrees of misclassifications and omissions.These phenomena suggest that more sophisticated algorithms are needed to consider urban particularities sincefine-resolution land cover products may fail to capture complex urban details.Wenxi Shi Xiang Zhao Jiacheng Zhao Siqing Zhao Yinkun Guo Naijing Liu Na Sun Xiaozheng Du Mengmeng Sun 2023International Journal of Digital Earth2023,16,1:0

19Trace ruthenium promoted dual-reconstruction of CoFeP@C/NF for activating overall water splitting performance beyond precious-metals显示文摘At present,Ru dopants mainly enhance electrocatalytic performance by inducing strain,vacancy,local electron difference,and synergy.Surprisingly,this work innovatively proposes that trace Ru atoms induce dual-reconstruction of phosphide by regulating the electronic configuration and proportion of Co–P/Co–O species,and ultimately activate superb electrocatalytic performance.Specifically,Ru-CoFeP@C/nickel foam(NF)is reconstructed to generate hydrophilic Co(OH)_(2)nanosheets during the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)process,further accelerating the alkaline HER kinetics of phosphide.And the as-formed CoOOH during the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)process directly accelerates the oxygen overflow efficiency.As expected,the overpotential at 100 mA·cm^(−2)(η100)values of the reconstructed Ru-CoFeP@C/NF are 0.104 and 0.257 V for HER and OER,which are greatly lower than that of Pt/C-NF and RuO_(2)-NF benchmarks,respectively.This work provides guidance for the construction of highperformance catalysts for HER and OER dual reconstruction.This work provides a new idea for the optimization of catalyst structure and electrocatalytic performance.Jinhong Ren Jie Liu Yunmei Du Shuangshuang Li Mengmeng Wang Bin Li Bo Yang Lei Wang Yanru Liu 2023Nano Research2023,16,8:0
20Frailty and Anticoagulant Therapy in Patients Aged 65 Years or Older with Atrial Fibrillation显示文摘Background:Elderly adults with atrial fi brillation(AF)are at increased risk of frailty and thromboembolic complications.However,studies on the prevalence of frailty in AF patients and data on the relationship between frailty and the use of anticoagulants are limited.Methods:We conducted a cross-sectional study involving 500 participants.Patients aged 65 years or older were consecutively selected from the Chinese Atrial Fibrillation Registry study.The patient’s frailty status was assessed with use of the Canadian Study of Health and Aging Clinical Frailty Scale.We assessed the prevalence of and factors associated with frailty,and how frailty affects anticoagulant therapy.Results:In 500 elderly adults with AF(age 75.2±6.7 years;51.6%female),201 patients(40.2%)were frail.The prevalence of frailty was higher in females(P=0.002)and increased with age and CHA 2 DS 2-VASc score(P for trend less than 0.001 for both).The factors associated with frailty were a history of heart failure(odds ratio[OR]2.40,95%confi dence interval[CI]1.39–4.14),female sex(OR 2.09,95%CI 1.27–3.43),and advanced age(OR 1.13,95%CI 1.09–1.17).Frail patients were signifi cantly less likely to have ever been prescribed anticoagulants compared with nonfrail patients(81.7 vs.54.9%,P<0.001).Conclusions:Frailty is prevalent in elderly adults with AF,especially in females,those of advanced age,and those with heart failure.Frailty status has a signifi cant impact on prescription of anticoagulants for high-risk AF patients.Jiapeng Liu Xin Du Mengmeng Li Zhaoxu Jia Shangxin Lu Sanshuai Chang Ribo Tang Rong Bai Jianzeng Dong Gregory Y.H.Lip Changsheng Ma 2020Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications2020,,1:0
