| 2 | Immune dysfunction leads to mortality and organ injury in patients with COVID-19 in China:insights from ERS-COVID-19 study显示文摘Dear Editor,A series of novel coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)since the end of 2019 is ongoing and triggering a global public health crisis.The estimated case fatality rate is approximately 3.4%in China.However,some patients experience dyspnea within 1 week and develop rapidly to organ injury and even death within 2 weeks after dyspnea.1 In addition,early organ injury could lead to higher risks of mortality.Thus,early identification of patients at risk of organ injury and death is crucial,which saves the patients from classified and invasive treatment,improving clinical outcome and prognosis.The human immune system plays significant roles in the resistance of foreign pathogens and the progress of pneumonia.Recent studies have mentioned that T cells were decreased in COVID-19 patients,excessive activated immune response was caused by pathogenic Th1 cells,and inflammatory CD14+CD16+monocytes may connect to pulmonary immunopathology,leading to deleterious clinical manifestations and even acute mortality after SARS-CoV-2 infections.2 SARS-CoV-2 might damage lymphocytes,especially T lymphocytes,and the immune system was impaired during the period of disease to cause tissue injury. | Dongze Li You Chen Hong Liu Yu Jia Fanghui Li Wei Wang Jiang Wu Zhi Wan Yu Cao Rui Zeng | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 5 |
| 3 | Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Arterial Baroreceptor Remodeling in Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes显示文摘Clinical trials and animal experimental studies have demonstrated an association of arterial baroreflex impairment with the prognosis and mortality of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. As a primary part of the arterial baroreflex arc, the pressure sensitivity of arterial baroreceptors is blunted and involved in arterial baroreflex dysfunction in cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.Changes in the arterial vascular walls, mechanosensitive ion channels, and voltage-gated ion channels contribute to the attenuation of arterial baroreceptor sensitivity. Some endogenous substances(such as angiotensin II and superoxide anion) can modulate these morphological and functional alterations through intracellular signaling pathways in impaired arterial baroreceptors. | 4 | Impacts of Irrigation and Vegetation Growth on Summer Rainfall in the Taklimakan Desert显示文摘In recent decades,a greening tendency due to increased vegetation has been noted around the Taklimakan Desert(TD),but the impact of such a change on the local hydrological cycle remains uncertain.Here,we investigate the response of the local hydrological cycle and atmospheric circulation to a green TD in summer using a pair of global climate model(Community Earth System Model version 1.2.1)simulations.With enough irrigation to support vegetation growth in the TD,the modeling suggests first,that significant increases in local precipitation are attributed to enhanced local recycling of water,and second,that there is a corresponding decrease of local surface temperatures.On the other hand,irrigation and vegetation growth in this low-lying desert have negligible impacts on the large-scale circulation and thus the moisture convergence for enhanced precipitation.It is also found that the green TD can only be sustained by a large amount of irrigation water supply since only about one-third of the deployed water can be“recycled”locally.Considering this,devising a way to encapsulate the irrigated water within the desert to ensure more efficient water recycling is key for maintaining a sustainable,greening TD. | Dongze XU Yanluan LIN | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,11: | 3 |
| 5 | Alleviating the crosstalk effect via a fine-moulded light-blocking matrix for colour-converted micro-LED display with a 122% NTSC gamut显示文摘One of the major challenges when fabricating high gamut colour-converted micro-light-emitting diodes(LEDs)displays is severe crosstalk effect among adjacent pixels because of the wide view-angle feature of micro-LED chips.In this study,potential factors that contribute to the crosstalk effect were systematically simulated.We observed that precisely filling the space between each micro-LED chip with a light blocking matrix(LBM)can be a promising solution to alleviate this risk.After careful investigations,a press-assisted moulding technique was demonstrated to be an effective approach of fabricating the LBM.Nevertheless,experimental observations further revealed that residual black LBM on the surface of micro-LEDs severely reduces the brightness,thereby compromising the display performance.This problem was successfully addressed by employing a plasma etching technique to efficiently extract the trapped light.Eventually,a top-emitting blue micro-LED-based backlight fine-moulded with a black LBM was developed and combined with red and green quantum dot colour-conversion layers for full-colour display.The colour gamut of our manufactured display prototype can cover as high as 122%that of the National Television Standards Committee. | Yongming Yin Zhiping Hu Muhammad Umair Ali Miao Duan Yongwei Wu Ming Liu Wenxiang Peng Jun Hou Dongze Li Xin Zhang Hong Meng | 2022 | Light(Advanced Manufacturing)2022,3,3: | 2 |
