1Anti-diabetic and anti-cholesterolemic activity of methanol extracts of three species of Amaranthus显示文摘Objective:To investigate the anti-diabetic and anti-cholesterolemic activity of methanol extracts of leaves of Amaranthus caudatus,Amaranthus spinosus and Amaranthus viridis in normal and streptozotocin(STZ) induced diabetic rats.Methods:In this study,the anti-diabetic and anti-cholesterolemic activity of methanol extracts of leaves of all three plants was evaluated by using normal and STZ induced diabetic rots at a dose of 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg p.o.daily for 21 days.Blood glucose levels and body weight were monitored at specific intervals,and different biochemical parameters,serum cholesterol,serum triglyceride,high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein and very low density lipoprotein were also assessed in the experimental animals.Histology of pancreas was performed.Results:It was found that all the three plants at 400 mg/kg dose showed significant anti-diabetic and anti-cholesterolemic activity(P<0.01),while at 200 mg/kg dose less significant anti-diabetic activity(P<0.05) was observed.Concluslons: Methanol extracts of Amaranthus caudatus,Amaranlhus spinosus and Amaranthus viridis showed significant anti-diabetic and anti-cholesterolemic activity,which provides the scientific proof for their traditional claims.Girija K Lakshman K Udaya Chandrika Sabhya Sachi Ghosh Divya T 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,2:14
2Critical role of OX40 signaling in the TCR-independent phase of human and murine thymic Treg generation显示文摘Regulatory T cells(Tregs)play a pivotal role in immune-tolerance,and loss of Treg function can lead to the development of autoimmunity.Natural Tregs generated in the thymus substantially contribute to the Treg pool in the periphery,where they suppress self-reactive effector T cells(Teff)responses.Recently,we showed that OX40L(TNFSF4)is able to drive selective proliferation of peripheral Tregs independent of canonical antigen presentation(CAP-independent)in the presence of low-dose IL-2.Therefore,we hypothesized that OX40 signaling might be integral to the TCR-independent phase of murine and human thymic Treg(tTreg)development.Development of tTregs is a two-step process:Strong T-cell receptor(TCR)signals in combination with co-signals from the TNFRSF members facilitate tTreg precursor selection,followed by a TCR-independent phase of tTreg development in which their maturation is driven by IL-2.Therefore,we investigated whether OX40 signaling could also play a critical role in the TCR-independent phase of tTreg development.OX40−/−mice had significantly reduced numbers of CD25−Foxp3low tTreg precursors and CD25+Foxp3+mature tTregs,while OX40L treatment of WT mice induced significant proliferation of these cell subsets.Relative to tTeff cells,OX40 was expressed at higher levels in both murine and human tTreg precursors and mature tTregs.In ex vivo cultures,OX40L increased tTreg maturation and induced CAP-independent proliferation of both murine and human tTregs,which was mediated through the activation of AKT-mTOR signaling.These novel findings show an evolutionarily conserved role for OX40 signaling in tTreg development and proliferation,and might enable the development of novel strategies to increase Tregs and suppress autoimmunity.Prabhakaran Kumar Alejandra Marinelarena Divya Raghunathan Vandhana K Ragothaman Shikha Saini Palash Bhattacharya Jilao Fan Alan L Epstein Ajay V Maker Bellur S Prabhakar 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,2:4
3Hepatoprotective activity of Musa paradisiaca on experimental animal models显示文摘Objective:To invesligale the hepatoprotective activity of stem of Musa paradisiaca(M.paradisiaca)in CCl_4 and paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity models in rats.Methods:Hepatoprotective activity of alcoholic and aqueous extracts of stem of M.paradisiaca was demonstrated by using two experimentally induced hepatotoxicity models.Results:Administration of hepatotoxins(CCl_4 and paracetamol)showed significant biochemical and histological deteriorations in the liver of experimental animals.Pretreatment with alcoholic extract(500 mg/kg),more significantly and to a lesser extent the alcoholic extract(250 mg/kg)and aqueous extract(500 mg/kg),reduced the elevated levels of the serum enzymes like serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase(SCOT),serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase(SGPT),alkaline phosphatase(ALP)and bilirubin levels and alcoholic and aqueous extracts reversed the hepatic damage towards the normal,which further evidenced the hepatoprotective activity of stem of M.paradisiaca.Conclusions:The alcoholic extract at doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg,p.o.and aqueous extract at a dose of 500 mg/kg,p.o.of stem of M.paradisiaca have significant effect on the liver of CCl_4 and paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity animal models.Nirmala M Girija K Lakshman K Divya T 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,1:3
4Research progress and challenges of two dimensional MoS_2 field effect transistors显示文摘This review paper gives an outline of the recent research progress and challenges of 2D TMDs material MoS_2 based device, that leads to an interesting path towards approaching the electronic applications due to its sizeable band gap. This review presents the improvement of MoS_2 material as an alternate to a silicon channel in a transistor with its excellent energy band gap, thermal conductivity, and exclusive physical properties that are expected to draw attention to focusing on semiconducting devices for most futuristic applications. We discuss the band structure of MoS_2 for a different number of layers with its structure, and various synthesis techniques of the MoS_2 layer are also reviewed. The MoS_2 based field effect transistor has attracted a great deal of attention due to its excellent properties such as mobility, on/off current ratio, and maximum on-current of the devices. The transition of mobility as a function of temperature and thickness dependence are also discussed. However, the mobility of MoS_2 material is large in bulk form and lower in monolayer form. The use of a high-k gate dielectric in MoS_2 FET is used to enhance the mobility of the device. Different metal contact engineering and different doping techniques were deployed to achieve low contact resistance.
