1Applying the China-PAR Risk Algorithm to Assess 10-year Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in Populations Receiving Routine Physical Examinations in Eastern China显示文摘Objective To assess the 10-year Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease(ASCVD) risk score among adults in eastern China using the China-PAR equation which formulated primarily for the Chinese population. Methods Data from 72,129 individuals from 35-74 years old who received routine physical examinations in eastern China were analyzed in this study. The 10-year risk scores were calculated using the China-PAR equation. The chi-square test and logistic regression were then performed to evaluate the association between the selected risk factors and overall CVD risk. Results The mean 10-year ASCVD risk scores were 3.82% ± 3.76% in men and 1.30% ± 1.65% in women based on the China-PAR equation. Overall, 20% of men and 3.5% of women were intermediate-risk, and 7.3% of men and 0.3% of women were high-risk. Waist to hip ratio(WHR) [OR = 1.16(CI 95% = 1.06-1.26)], waist to height ratio(WHtR) [OR = 1.16(CI 95% = 1.05-1.28)], non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(non-HDL-C) [OR = 1.23(CI 95% = 1.09-1.39)], and total cholesterol(TC)/HDL-C [OR = 1.68(CI 95% = 1.46-1.94)] were more strongly associated with CVD risk than body-mass index(BMI), waist circumference(WC), and TC alone. Conclusion Male-specific prevention and treatment strategies for ASCVD are needed in eastern China. 2Nicotinamide overload may play a role in the development of type 2 diabetes显示文摘AIM: To investigate whether nicotinamide overload plays a role in type 2 diabetes. METHODS: Nicotinamide metabolic patterns of 14diabetic and 14 non-diabetic subjects were compared using HPLC. Cumulative effects of nicotinamide and N1-methylnicotinamide on glucose metabolism, plasma H2O2 levels and tissue nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) contents of adult Sprague-Dawley rats were observed. The role of human sweat glands and rat skin in nicotinamide metabolism was investigated using sauna and burn injury, respectively. RESULTS: Diabetic subjects had significantly higher plasma N 1-methylnicotinamide levels 5 h after a 100-mg nicotinamide load than the non-diabetic subjects (0.89 ± 0.13 μmol/L vs 0.6 ± 0.13 μmol/L, P < 0.001). Cumulative doses of nicotinamide (2 g/kg) significantly increased rat plasma N 1-methy lnico-tinamide concentrations associated with severe insulin resistance, which was mimicked by N1-methy-lnicotinamide. Moreover, cumulative exposure to N1-methylnicotinamide (2 g/kg) markedly reduced rat muscle and liver NAD contents and erythrocyte NAD/NADH ratio, and increased plasma H2O2 levels. Decrease in NAD/NADH ratio and increase in H2O2 generation were also observed in human erythrocytes after exposure to N1-methylnicotinamide in vitro. Sweating eliminated excessive nicotinamide (5.3-fold increase in sweat nicotinamide concentration 1 h after a 100-mg nicotinamide load). Skin damage or aldehyde oxidase inhibition with tamoxifen or olanzapine, both being notorious for impairing glucose tolerance, delayed N1-methylnicotinamide clearance. 7Ultrathin,elastic,and self-adhesive nanofiber bio-tape:An intraoperative drug-loading module for ureteral stents with localized and controlled drug delivery properties for customized therapy显示文摘During the postoperative management of urinary diseases,oral or intravenous administration of drugs and implanting ureteral stents are usually required,making localized drug delivery by ureteral stent a precise and effective medication strategy.In the traditional drug loading method,the drug was premixed in the implants in production lines and the versatility of drugs was restricted.However,the complex situation in the urinary system fails the possibility of finding a“one fits all”medication plan,and the intraoperative drug-loading of implants is highly desired to support customized therapy.Here,we designed an ultrathin(8μm),elastic,and self-adhesive nanofiber bio-tape(NFBT)that can easily encapsulate drugs on the stent surface for controllable localized drug delivery.The NFBT exhibited high binding strength to a ureteral stent,a sustained release over 7 d in PBS for hydrophilic drug,and a zero-order release curve over 28 days for the hydrophobic drug nitrofurantoin(NFT).Further in vivo experiments using a porcine ureteral tract infection model demonstrated that NFBT loaded with NFT could significantly reduce the bacterial concentration in urine.The total amount of NFT delivered by the NFBT was about 2.68 wt%of the recommended dose for the systemic administration.Liheng Gao Mingxi Xu Wenshuo Zhao Ting Zou Fujun Wang Jun Da Yiwei Wang Lu Wang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,12:2

9Investigation of high extraction efficiency flip-chip GaN-based light-emitting diodes显示文摘In order to obtain higher light output power, the flip-chip structure is used. We studied the ratio of the light of GaN sides before and after fabricating metal reflector on p-GaN. The SiO2/SiNx dielectric film reflectors were deposited through plasma enhance chemical vapor deposition following the fabrication of metal reflector, and then the dielectric film reflectors on the electrodes were etched in order to expose the electrodes to the air. It is found that comparing with the flip-chip GaN-LED without dielectric film reflectors, light output power can be increased by as high as 10.2% after the deposition of 2 pairs of SiO2/SiNx dielectric film reflectors on GaN-LEDs, which cover the sidewalls and the areas without the metal reflector. 10Simulation of drop breakage in liquid–liquid system by coupling of CFD and PBM: Comparison of breakage kernels and effects of agitator configurations显示文摘This work focuses on drop breakage for liquid-liquid system with an adoption of numerical simulation by using computational fluid dynamics and population balance model (PBM) coupled with two-fluid model (TFM). Two different breakage kernels based on identical breakage mechanism but different descriptions of breaking time are take n into account in this work. Eight cases corresp on ding to distinct configurations of agitator are carried out to validate numerical predictions, namely agitators with different porosity and hole diameters, respectively implemented in Cases 1 to 5 and Cases 6 to 8. The results are compared with experimental data for testing the applicability of both kernels. Simulations are implemented, in this work, with an approach of class method for the solution of population balance model by the special-purpose computational fluid dynamics solver Fluent 16.1 based on finite volume method, and the grids used for meshing the solution domain are accomplished in a commercial software Gambit 2.4.6. The effects of configurations of agitator corresponding to different parameters mentioned above on final Sauter mean diameter are equally concentrated in this work. Analysis of both kernels and comparisons with experimental results reveal that, the second kernel has more decent agreement with experiments, and the results of investigations on effects of agitator configurations show that the in fluences of these parameters on Sauter mean diameter are marginal, but appropriate porosity and hole diameter are actually able to decrease Sauter mean diameter. 11Intranasal Immunization Using CTA1-DD as a Mucosal Adjuvant for an Inactivated Influenza Vaccine显示文摘Objective To evaluate the effect of intranasal immunization with CTA1-DD as mucosal adjuvant combined with H3N2 split vaccine. Methods Mice were immunized intranasally with PBS(negative control), or H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) alone, or CTA1-DD(5 μg/mouse) alone, or H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) plus CTA1-DD(5 μg/mouse). Positive control mice were immunized intramuscularly with H3N2 split vaccine(3 μg/mouse) and alum adjuvant. All the mice were immunized twice, two weeks apart. Then sera and mucosal lavages were collected. The specific HI titers, IgM, IgG, IgA, and IgG subtypes were examined by ELISA. IFN-γ and IL-4 were test by ELISpot. In addition, two weeks after the last immunization, surivival after H3N2 virus lethal challenge was measured. Results H3N2 split vaccine formulated with CTA1-DD could elicit higher Ig M, Ig G and hemagglutination inhibition titers in sera. Furthermore, using CTA1-DD as adjuvant significantly improved mucosal secretory Ig A titers in bronchoalveolar lavages and vaginal lavages. Meanwhile this mucosal adjuvant could enhance Th-1-type responses and induce protective hemagglutination inhibition titers. Notably, the addition of CTA1-DD to split vaccine provided 100% protection against lethal infection by the H3N2 virus. 12Profiling the pattern of the human T-cell receptorγδcomplementary determinant region 3 repertoire in patients with lung carcinoma via high-throughput sequencing analysis显示文摘γδT cells function as sentinels in early host responses to infections and malignancies.Specifically,γδT cells recognize tumor-associated stress antigens via T-cell receptor(TCR)γδand play important roles in the antitumor immune response.In this study,we characterized the pattern of the human TCRγδcomplementary determinant region 3(CDR3)repertoire in patients with lung carcinoma(LC)via high-throughput sequencing.The results showed that the diversity of CDR3δwas significantly reduced,and that of CDR3γwas unchanged in LC patients compared with healthy individuals;in addition,LC patients shared significantly more CDR3δsequences with each other than healthy individuals.The CDR3 length distribution and N-addition length distribution did not significantly differ between LC patients and healthy individuals.In addition,the CDR3 repertoire tended to use more Vδ2 and fewer Vδ1 germline gene fragments among LC patients.Moreover,we found a combination of four TCRγδrepertoire features that focus on CDR3δand can be used as a biomarker for LC diagnosis.Our research suggests that the TCRγδCDR3 repertoire changed in LC patients due to the antitumor immune response byγδT cells in vivo,and these changes primarily focus on the amplification of certain tumor-specific CDR3δclones among patients.This study demonstrates the role ofγδT cells from the TCRγδCDR3 repertoire in tumor immunity and lays the foundation for elucidating the mechanism underlying the function ofγδT cells in antitumor immunity.Hui Chen Mingjin Zou Da Teng Yu Hu Jianmin Zhang Wei He 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,3:1

18From Price to Gain:The Evolution of Household Income Volatility and Consumption Insurance in Urban China显示文摘This paper exploits a novel and unique opportunity to reveal the evolution of income volatility and consumption insurance from 1992 to 2014 in urban China.We found that(i)the average household experienced a downward trend in income and consumption volatility.Although the global financial crisis in 2008 caused a slight spike,it did not reverse the downward trend.(i)Households'ability to smooth income shocks improved significantly,and the consumption insurance against permanent(transitory)income shocks increased from 0.6172(0.8307)to 0.7453(0.8742)-that is,the transmission of permanent(transitory)income shocks to consumption decreased by 33.46(25.69)percent from 2004 to 2014.(ii)Welfare analysis indicates that the positive insurance effect counteracted the negative effects of lower economic growth in the 2010-2014period.Income and consumption volatility,and consumption insurance were heterogeneous across income sources,consumption categories,and various demographic characteristics,which have important implications forunderstandingChina's economictransition.Da Zhao Jingyuan Guo Hong Zou Ze Song 2022China & World Economy2022,30,6:1
