| 10 | The SlSHN2 transcription factor contributes to cuticle formation and epidermal patterning in tomato fruit显示文摘Tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)is an established model for studying plant cuticle because of its thick cuticle covering and embedding the epidermal cells of the fruit.In this study,we screened an EMS mutant collection of the miniature tomato cultivar Micro-Tom for fruit cracking mutants and found a mutant displaying a glossy fruit phenotype.By using an established mapping-by-sequencing strategy,we identified the causal mutation in the SlSHN2 transcription factor that is specifically expressed in outer epidermis of growing fruit.The point mutation in the shn2 mutant intro-duces a K to N amino acid change in the highly conserved‘mm’domain of SHN proteins.The cuticle from shn2 fruit showed a~fivefold reduction in cutin while abundance and composition of waxes were barely affected.In addition to alterations in cuticle thickness and properties,epidermal patterning and polysaccharide composition of the cuticle were changed.RNAseq analysis further highlighted the altered expression of hundreds of genes in the fruit exocarp of shn2,including genes associated with cuticle and cell wall formation,hormone signaling and response,and transcrip-tional regulation.In conclusion,we showed that a point mutation in the transcriptional regulator SlSHN2 causes major changes in fruit cuticle formation and its coordination with epidermal patterning. | Cecile Bres Johann Petit Nicolas Reynoud Lysiane Brocard Didier Marion Marc Lahaye Benedicte Bakan Christophe Rothan | 2022 | Molecular Horticulture2022,2,1: | 0 |

| 12 | Identification of fungal fossils and novel azaphilone pigments in ancient carbonised specimens of Hypoxylon fragiforme from forest soils of Chatillon-sur-Seine(Burgundy)显示文摘Fungal stromata were recently discovered in association with charcoal and burnt soil aggregates during an archaeological survey in the Chaˆtillon-sur-Seine forest massif.The wood and soil in the samples were dated to the medieval period(between 738 and 1411 AD).Light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy revealed that a few of the stromatal fragments still contained ascospores.Their macromorphological characters were described and secondary metabolite profiles were generated using high performance liquid chromatography with diode array and mass spectrometric detection(HPLC–DAD/MS).The combination of these two data lines then allowed species identification.Most of the fragments were assigned to Hypoxylon fragiforme,the type species of the Hypoxylaceae(Xylariales).Two further species whose stromata grew on the fossil charcoal could be tentatively identified as Jackrogersella cohaerens and(more tentatively)as Hypoxylon vogesiacum.These three species are still commonly encountered in the forests of Central Europe today.Furthermore,the HPLC-HRMS data of H.fragiforme suggested the presence of unknown azaphilone dimers and of further new pigments.These archaeological compounds were compared to fresh stromata of H.fragiforme collected in Germany and subjected to the same analytical protocol.While the major components in both samples were identified as the known mitorubrin type azaphilones and orsellinic acid,the chemical structures of seven novel complex azaphilone pigments,for which we propose the trivial names rutilins C-D and fragirubrins A-E,were elucidated using spectral methods(NMR and CD spectroscopy,high resolution mass spectrometry).It appears that these pigments had indeed persisted for millennia in the fossil stromata. | Frank Surup Abolfazl Narmani Lucile Wendt Sebastian Pfutze Robin Kretz Kevin Becker Cle ment Menbrives Alain Giosa Michelle Elliott Christophe Petit Manfred Rohde Marc Stadler | 2018 | Fungal Diversity2018,,5: | 0 |
| 13 | Analysis of Lateritic Soil Reinforced with Palm Kernel Shells for Use as a Sub-Base Layer for Low-Traffic Roads显示文摘In tropical areas,palm oil production generates significant amounts of waste,including palm kernel shells.The use of this waste in the civil engineering sector,presents a very challenging task.In the present study,the production of lateritic soil(A-2 in GTR classification and A-7-6(9)in HRB classification)reinforced with palm kernel shells is considered.In order to improve their performances,these materials are mixed using the Fuller’s parabolic law.Moreover,experimental tests are used to characterize the physical and mechanical geotechnical properties of the lateritic soil.After characterizing the matrix(i.e.,lateritic soil)and the inclusions(i.e.,palm kernel shells)in their natural state,it is found that Avrankou’s lateritic soil has a high level of fine particles(56.6%),high plasticity(PI=21%)and low lift(ICBR=17%);which makes it unusable in the pavement layer.Results also prove that the mixture composed of 39%of lateritic soil volume and 61%of PKS with a CBR index equals to 30 and the mixture composed of 45%of lateritic soil,40%PKS and 15%of lagoon sand with a CBR index equals to 41 can be used as sub-base layer for roads for low and medium traffic,respectively. | Joel Koti Crespin P.Yabi Mohamed Gibigaye Anne Millien Christophe Petit | 2022 | Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,5: | 0 |
