| 1 | Effects of dry-wet cycles on three-dimensional pore structure and permeability characteristics of granite residual soil using X-ray micro computed tomography显示文摘Due to seasonal climate alterations,the microstructure and permeability of granite residual soil are easily affected by multiple dry-wet cycles.The X-ray micro computed tomography(micro-CT)acted as a nondestructive tool for characterizing the microstructure of soil samples exposed to a range of damage levels induced by dry-wet cycles.Subsequently,the variations of pore distribution and permeability due to drywet cycling effects were revealed based on three-dimensional(3D)pore distribution analysis and seepage simulations.According to the results,granite residual soils could be separated into four different components,namely,pores,clay,quartz,and hematite,from micro-CT images.The reconstructed 3D pore models dynamically demonstrated the expanding and connecting patterns of pore structures during drywet cycles.The values of porosity and connectivity are positively correlated with the number of dry-wet cycles,which were expressed by exponential and linear functions,respectively.The pore volume probability distribution curves of granite residual soil coincide with the χ^(2)distribution curve,which verifies the effectiveness of the assumption of χ^(2)distribution probability.The pore volume distribution curves suggest that the pores in soils were divided into four types based on their volumes,i.e.micropores,mesopores,macropores,and cracks.From a quantitative and visual perspective,considerable small pores are gradually transformed into cracks with a large volume and a high connectivity.Under the action of dry-wet cycles,the number of seepage flow streamlines which contribute to water permeation in seepage simulation increases distinctly,as well as the permeability and hydraulic conductivity.The calculated hydraulic conductivity is comparable with measured ones with an acceptable error margin in general,verifying the accuracy of seepage simulations based on micro-CT results. | Ran An Lingwei Kong Xianwei Zhang Chengsheng Li | 2022 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,3: | 7 |
| 2 | Spatiotemporal variability of ocean chemistry in the early Cambrian,South China显示文摘Following the Ediacaran metazoan radiation,the 'Cambrian Explosion' set up the major framework of todays' animal phyla as well as modern marine ecosystem.Here,we present a preliminary investigation on the temporal and spatial(from shallow to deep waters) variations of the early Cambrian ocean chemistry in South China through analyzing a Fe-S-C systematic dataset integrated from literature.Our investigation indicates that the early Cambrian deep ocean in South China was still anoxic and Fe2+-enriched(i.e.,ferruginous) although its surface was oxic,and in between a metastable euxinic(anoxic and sulfidic) water zone may have dynamically developed in anoxic shelf waters with an increasing weathering sulfate supply.Furthermore,accompanying marine transgression and regression cycles in the early Cambrian,such a 'sandwich' structure in ocean redox chemistry demonstrates five evolutional stages,which can be well correlated to the spatiotemporal patterns of fossil records in South China.The good correlation between metazoan fossil occurrences and water chemistry in South China suggests that early animals possibly possessed ability to inhabit anoxic but generally not euxinic environments as free H2S was fatal to most eukaryotes.This view can well explain why those small shell fauna and sponges disappeared from shelf to slope areas where sulfidic Ni-Mo-rich shales were widely deposited.Thus,we conclude that the spatiotemporal variations of ocean chemistry and its biological effects probably played a key role in the phased animal radiations and 'extinctions' in the early Cambrian. | JIN ChengSheng LI Chao PENG XingFang CUI Hao SHI Wei ZHANG ZiHu LUO GenMing XIE ShuCheng | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,4: | 5 |
| 3 | Fingerprint Liveness Detection from Different Fingerprint Materials Using Convolutional Neural Network and Principal Component Analysis显示文摘Fingerprint-spoofing attack often occurs when imposters gain access illegally by using artificial fingerprints,which are made of common fingerprint materials,such as silicon,latex,etc.Thus,to protect our privacy,many fingerprint liveness detection methods are put forward to discriminate fake or true fingerprint.Current work on liveness detection for fingerprint images is focused on the construction of complex handcrafted features,but these methods normally destroy or lose spatial information between pixels.Different from existing methods,convolutional neural network(CNN)can generate high-level semantic representations by learning and concatenating low-level edge and shape features from a large amount of labeled data.Thus,CNN is explored to solve the above problem and discriminate true fingerprints from fake ones in this paper.To reduce the redundant information and extract the most distinct features,ROI and PCA operations are performed for learned features of convolutional layer or pooling layer.After that,the extracted features are fed into SVM classifier.Experimental results based on the LivDet(2013)and the LivDet(2011)datasets,which are captured by using different fingerprint materials,indicate that the classification performance of our proposed method is both efficient and convenient compared with the other previous methods. | Chengsheng Yuan Xinting Li Q.M.Jonathan Wu Jin Li Xingming Sun | 2017 | Computers, Materials & Continua2017,,4: | 3 |
| 4 | Secure Authentication Protocol for Mobile Payment显示文摘With the increasing popularity of fintech, i.e., financial technology, the e-commerce market has grown rapidly in the past decade, such that mobile devices enjoy unprecedented popularity and are playing an everincreasing role in e-commerce. This is especially true of mobile payments, which are attracting increasing attention.However, the occurrence of many traditional financial mishaps has exposed the challenges inherent in online authentication technology that is based on traditional modes of realizing the healthy and stable development of mobile payment. In addition, this technology ensures user account security and privacy. In this paper, we propose a Secure Mutual Authentication Protocol(SMAP) based on the Universal 2 nd Factor(U2 F) protocol for mobile payment. To guarantee reliable service, we use an asymmetric cryptosystem for achieving mutual authentication between the server and client, which can resist fake servers and forged terminals. Compared to the modes currently used, the proposed protocol strengthens the security of user account information as well as individual privacy throughout the mobile-payment transaction process. | 6 | Evolution of cracks in the shear bands of granite residual soil显示文摘The evolution of shear bands and cracks plays an important role in landslides.However,there is no systematic method for classification of the cracks,which can be used to analyze the evolution of cracks in shear bands.In this study,X-ray computed tomography(CT)is used to observe the behavior of granite residual soil during a triaxial shear process.Based on the digital volume correlation(DVC)method,a crack classification method is established according to the connectivity characteristics of cracks before and after loading.Cracks are then divided into six classes:obsolete,brand-new,isolated,split,combined,and compound.With evolution of the shear bands,a large number of brand-new cracks accelerate the damages of materials at the mesoscale,resulting in a sharp decrease in strength.The volume of brandnew cracks increases rapidly with increasing axial strain,and their volume is greater than 50%when the strain reaches 12%,while the volume of compound cracks decreases from 54%to 21%.As cracks are the weakest areas in a material,brand-new cracks accelerate the development of shear bands.Finally,the coupling effect of shear bands and cracks destroys the soil strength. | Chengsheng Li Lingwei Kong Ran An | 2022 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,6: | 3 |

| 14 | Screening of Antagonistic Bacteria from Phyllosphere towards Tobacco Brown Spot Fungus Alternaria alternata显示文摘The possibility of employing antagonistic bacteria for the control of tobacco brown spot was studied. Approximately 136 strains of bacteria were isolated from phyllospheres of tobacco and 9 of these possessed high levels of antagonistic properties. They significantly reduced brown spot in detached tobacco leaves when artificially inoculated with Alternaria alternata. Culture filtrate of the most effective bacterial isolate which designated as Tpb88 was shown to be very efficient in inhibiting mycelial growth of A alternata in dual cultures. Culture filtrate of Tpb88 inhibited germination and germ tube elongation of A alternata. The results showed that the culture filtrate directly inhibited spore germination of A alternata, especially during the first hours of the paired cultivation. The rate of antagonistic activity of culture filtrate of Tpb88 depended on its concentration in the mixture. The greatest inhibition of spore germination was ob served at the highest concentration of filtrate (filtrate to fungal spores inocula mixed in proportion 1: 50). | 20 | Mako:A Graph-based Pattern Growth Approach to Detect Complex Structural Variants显示文摘Complex structural variants(CSVs) are genomic alterations that have more than two breakpoints and are considered as the simultaneous occurrence of simple structural variants.However,detecting the compounded mutational signals of CSVs is challenging through a commonly used model-match strategy.As a result,there has been limited progress for CSV discovery compared with simple structural variants.Here,we systematically analyzed the multi-breakpoint connection feature of CSVs,and proposed Mako,utilizing a bottom-up guided model-free strategy,to detect CSVs from paired-end short-read sequencing.Specifically,we implemented a graph-based pattern growth approach,where the graph depicts potential breakpoint connections,and pattern growth enables CSV detection without pre-defined models.Comprehensive evaluations on both simulated and real datasets revealed that Mako outperformed other algorithms.Notably,validation rates of CSVs on real data based on experimental and computational validations as well as manual inspections are around 70%,where the medians of experimental and computational breakpoint shift are 13 bp and 26 bp,respectively.Moreover,the Mako CSV subgraph effectively characterized the breakpoint connections of a CSV event and uncovered a total of 15 CSV types,including two novel types of adjacent segment swap and tandem dispersed duplication.Further analysis of these CSVs also revealed the impact of sequence homology on the formation of CSVs.Mako is publicly available at http://gffzz188fe103f8f1460as6pn9p5xfq6oc65v6.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/xjtu-omics/Mako. | Jiadong Lin Xiaofei Yang Walter Kosters Tun Xu Yanyan Jia Songbo Wang Qihui Zhu Mallory Ryan Li Guo Chengsheng Zhang The Human Genome Structural Variation Consortium Charles Lee Scott E.Devine Evan E.Eichler Kai Ye | 2022 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,1: | 0 |
