1Expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C and chemokine receptor CCR7 in gastric carcinoma and their values in predicting lymph node metastasis显示文摘AIM:To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) and chemokine receptor CCR7 in gastric carcinoma and to investigate their associations with lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma and their values in predicting lymph node metastasis.METHODS:The expression of VEGF-C and CCR7 in gastric carcinoma tissues obtained from 118 patients who underwent curative gastrectomy was examined by immunohistochemisty.Among these patients,39 patients underwent multi-slice spiral CT (MSCT) examination.RESULTS:VEGF-C and CCR7 were positively expressed in 52.5 and 53.4% of patients. VEGF-C expression was more frequently found in tumors with lymph node metastasis than those without it (P<0.001).VEGF-C expression was also closely related to lymphatic invasion (P<0.001), vascular invasion (P<0.01),and TNM stage (P<0.001). However,there was no significant correlation between VEGF-C expression and age at surgery, gender, tumor size, tumor location,Lauren classification,and depth of invasion. CCR7 expression was significantly higher in patients with lymph node metastasis compared with those without lymph node metastasis (P<0.001) and was also associated with tumorsize (P<0.01), depth of invasion (P<0.001), lymphatic invasion (P<0.001),and TNM stage (P<0.001).However,the presence of CCR7 had no correlation to age at surgery,gender, tumor location, Lauren classification,and vascular invasion. Among the 39 patients who underwent MSCT examination,only CCR7 expression was related to lymph node metastasis determined by MSCT (P<0.05).In the current retrospective study,the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy of VEGF-C and CCR7 expression in the diagnosis of lymph node metastasis for patients with gastric carcinoma were 73.8%, 70.2%,72.6%,71.4% and 72.0%,and 82.0%,77.2%,79.4%,80.0% and 79.7%,respectively.After subdivision according to the combination of VEGF-C and CCR7 expression, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis showed that the accuracy of the combined examination of VEGF-C and CCR7 expression in predicting lymph node metastasis was relatively high (area under ROC curve [Az]=0.83).CONCLUSION:The expression of VEGF-C and CCR7 is related to lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma and both of them may become new targets for the treatment of gastric carcinoma.Furthermore,the combined examination of VEGF-C and CCR7 expression in endoscopic biopsy specimens may be useful in predicting lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma and deciding the extent of surgical lymph node resection.ChaoYan Zheng-GangZhu Ying-YanYu JunJi YiZhang Yu-BaoJi MinYan JunChen Bing-YaLin 2004World Journal of Gastroenterology2004,10,6:54

3Outlier Analysis for Gene Expression Data显示文摘The rapid developments of technologies that generate arrays of gene data enable a global view of the transcription levels of hundreds of thousands of genes simultaneously. The outlier detection problem for gene data has its importance but together with the difficulty of high dimensionality. The sparsity of data in high dimensional space makes each point a relatively good outlier in the view of traditional distance-based definitions. Thus, finding outliers in high dimensional data is more complex. In this paper, sme basic outlier analysis algorithms are discussed and a new genetic algorithm is presented. This algorithm is to find best dimension projections based on a revised cell-based algorithm and to give explanations to solutions. 4Separation of Peptides by Pressurized Capillary Electrochromatography显示文摘A novel gradient pressurized capillary electrochromatography (pCEC) instrument was developed to separate peptides. Two gradient elution modes, hydrophobic and hydrophilic interaction mode in pCEC, were performed on this instrument. Baseline separation of six peptides was obtained on two gradient modes with C18 column and strong cationic exchange column respectively. 6Seismogenic Structures of the 2006 ML4.0 Dangan Island Earthquake Offshore Hong Kong显示文摘The northern margin of the South China Sea, as a typical extensional continental margin, has relatively strong intraplate seismicity. Compared with the active zones of Nanao Island, Yangjiang, and Heyuan, seismicity in the Pearl River Estuary is relatively low. However, a ML4.0 earthquake in 2006 occurred near Dangan Island(DI) offshore Hong Kong, and this site was adjacent to the source of the historical M5.8 earthquake in 1874. To reveal the seismogenic mechanism of intraplate earthquakes in DI, we systematically analyzed the structural characteristics in the source area of the 2006 DI earthquake using integrated 24-channel seismic profiles, onshore–offshore wide-angle seismic tomography, and natural earthquake parameters. We ascertained the locations of NW-and NE-trending faults in the DI sea and found that the NE-trending DI fault mainly dipped southeast at a high angle and cut through the crust with an obvious low-velocity anomaly. The NW-trending fault dipped southwest with a similar high angle. The 2006 DI earthquake was adjacent to the intersection of the NE-and NW-trending faults, which suggested that the intersection of the two faults with different strikes could provide a favorable condition for the generation and triggering of intraplate earthquakes. Crustal velocity model showed that the high-velocity anomaly was imaged in the west of DI, but a distinct entity with low-velocity anomaly in the upper crust and high-velocity anomaly in the lower crust was found in the south of DI. Both the 1874 and 2006 DI earthquakes occurred along the edge of the distinct entity. Two vertical cross-sections nearly perpendicular to the strikes of the intersecting faults revealed good spatial correlations between the 2006 DI earthquake and the low to high speed transition in the distinct entity. 9Seismotectonics of the Taiwan Shoal Region in the Northeastern South China Sea:Insights from the Crustal Structure显示文摘A cluster of earthquakes occurred in the Taiwan Shoal region on the outer rise of the Manila Trench. Although most were of small to medium magnitudes, one strong earthquake occurred on September 16, 1994. Several previous studies have provided important information to progress our understanding of this single earthquake. However, little is currently known about the earthquake cluster, and it is necessary to investigate the deep crustal structure of the Taiwan Shoal region to understand the mechanisms involved in controlling and generating it. This study presents a two-dimensional seismic tomographic image of the crustal structure along the OBS2012 profile based on ocean-bottom seismograph(OBS) data, which exhibits a high-velocity anomaly flanked by low-velocity anomalies in the upper crust beneath the Taiwan Shoal. In this study, 765 earthquakes(Richter magnitude ML > 1.5) occurring between 1991 and 2015 were studied and analyses of earthquake epicenters, regional faults, and the crustal structure provides an improved understanding of the nature of active tectonics in this region. Results of analyses indicate firstly that the high-velocity area represents major asperities that correspond to the location of the earthquake cluster and where stress is concentrated. It is also depicted that the earthquake cluster was influenced by fault interactions. However, the September 1994 earthquake occurred independently of these seismic activities and was associated with reactivation of a preexisting fault. It is also determined that slab pull is resisted by the exposed precollision accretionary prism, and the resistive force is causing accumulation of inplane compressive-stress. 10Bioactive constituents of animal-derived traditional Chinese medicinal materials for breast cancer:opportunities and challenges显示文摘Breast cancer is globally the most common invasive cancer in women and remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths.Surgery,radiotherapy,chemotherapy,immunotherapy,and endocrine therapy are currently the main treatments for this cancer type.However,some breast cancer patients are prone to drug resistance related to chemotherapy or immunotherapy,resulting in limited treatment efficacy.Consequently,traditional Chinese medicinal materials(TCMMs)as natural products have become an attractive source of novel drugs.In this review,we summarized the current knowledge on the active components of animal-derived TCMMs,including Ophiocordyceps sinensis-derived cordycepin,the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of O.sinensis,norcantharidin(NCTD),Chansu,bee venom,deer antlers,Ostrea gigas,and scorpion venom,with reference to marked anti-breast cancer effects due to regulating cell cycle arrest,proliferation,apoptosis,metastasis,and drug resistance.In future studies,the underlying mechanisms for the antitumor effects of these components need to be further investigated by utilizing multi-omics technologies.Furthermore,large-scale clinical trials are necessary to validate the efficacy of bioactive constituents alone or in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs for breast cancer treatment.Chaochao YU Yi LI Guopeng CHEN Chaoyan WU Xiuping WANG Yingwen ZHANG 2022Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,7:1
11Efficacy of gecko polysaccharide on suppressed immune response induced by cyclophosphamide in mice显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy of gecko polysaccharide on the cyclophosphamide-induced suppressed immune response in mice.METHODS:Polysaccharides were extracted from fresh gecko for the first time using an orthogonal method and protein was removed using Sevag reagent(chloroform∶N-butanol,5∶1,v/v).The gecko polysaccharide(GPCE)content was determined by the phenol-concentrated sulfuric acid method.An immunocompromised mouse model was established by intraperitoneally injecting cyclophosphamide at 100 mg/kg into 48 mice.The effects of GPCE on immune regulation in mice were assessed by a thymus-spleen index,serum hemolysin levels,and the proliferation of splenic lymphocytes.Spleen cell CD4+,CD8+,and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio were evaluated by flow cytometry and the tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)levels were measured by ELISA.RESULTS:The optimal extraction process for gecko polysaccharide included a 1∶20 ratio of material to liquid(v/v),an extraction temperature of 60℃ and a time of 2 h.The polysaccharide content of the extract was 65.74%.GPCE was analyzed by HPLC and primarily contained glucose and small amounts of mannose,rha,and gal.Compared with the model,the thymus index,the spleen index were indices for GPCE increased with dose,whereas the high and medium groups exhibited significant differences(P<0.05,P<0.01).Higher doses of GPCE increased serum TNF-αlevels and there was a significant difference between the medium and high GPCE doses and the model(P<0.05,P<0.01);The number of CD4+ cells and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio in the gecko polysaccharide group were increased(P<0.05)and there was no statistical difference in the number of CD8+ cells in the gecko polysaccharide group(P>0.05);The high GPCE dose significantly increased the level of serum hemolysin(P<0.01).CONCLUSIONS:Gecko polysaccharide significantly improved the suppressed immune response induced by cyclophosphamide in mice and promoted the secretion of tumor necrosis factor.The mechanism of gecko polysaccharide as an antitumor agent warrants further study.ZHOU Xingqin CHANG Yazhou JI Bin ZHAO Hongyu SHEN Chaoyan CHANG Renan 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,4:1
12Hyperextended crustal structure of the Qiongdongnan Basin and subsequent magmatic influence from the Hainan mantle plume显示文摘The Qiongdongnan Basin(QDNB)is a rift basin located in the extension direction of the oceanic ridge of the Northwest Subbasin of the South China Sea.This basin is surrounded by Late Cenozoic Ocean Island Basalts(OIBs)magmatism associated with the putative Hainan mantle plume.However,how the Hainan mantle plume has affected the QDNB has not been studied in detail.To reveal the crustal structure of the QDNB and the possible influence of the Hainan mantle plume,we conducted a wide-angle seismic exploration from Hainan Island across the QDNB to the Xisha Block,and obtained the crustal structure by travel-time tomography.The results show that the crustal stretching factors of the Northern and Southern Rises of the QDNB are estimated to be 1.3-2.0,indicating slight or moderate crustal thinning.Whereas,the crustal stretching factor in the Central Depression of the QDNB is estimated to be more than 3.0,which means that the crust has been hyperextended.Controlled by two detachment faults(F2 and F11),the upper and lower crust show brittle and ductile thinning,respectively.Three anomalous low-velocity conduits penetrating the crystalline crust are developed in the Songnan Uplift and the Southern Rise of the QDNB.Their P-wave velocities are 5.5-6.0 km s^(−1),which are significantly lower than those of the surrounding crust(6.0-6.8 km s^(−1)).The Late Cenozoic magmatic intrusions(e.g.,sills and dikes)and hydrothermal activities can be observed in the sedimentary strata above these low-velocity conduits.We interpret that the low-velocity conduits might be the crustal magmatic footprints of the Hainan mantle plume,due to the correlated distributions of OIB-type magmatism,the magmatic intrusion patterns,the deep structure of the Hainan mantle plume and the high heat flow of 95 mW m^(−2).Thus,we propose that the crustal structure of the QDNB is the product of crustal hyperextension in the rifting stage and subsequently affected by the Hainan mantle plume magmatism.This study provides a typical case for understanding the influence of a mantle plume on the continental crust with pre-existing rift structures.Shaohong XIA Chaoyan FAN Dawei WANG Jinghe CAO Fang ZHAO 2022Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,5:1
13Submarine volcanism in the southern margin of the South China Sea显示文摘Submarine volcanism is widely developed in the South China Sea(SCS).However,the characteristics,distribution,and genesis of submarine volcanoes in the southern margin of the SCS remain obscure.In this study,we analyzed the characteristics of submarine volcanoes and identified a total of 43 submarine volcanoes in the southern margin of the SCS,based on a newly acquired 310-km seismic reflection profile,along with previous 45 multi-channel seismic(MCS)profiles,petrological results from volcanic rocks sampled by dredging and drilling,nearby ocean bottom seismometer(OBS)wide-angle seismic profiles,and gravity and magnetic data.The study ascertains that most of these volcanoes are located in fault-block belts and graben-horst zones with strong crustal stretching and thinning.These volcanoes exhibit positive high-amplitude external seismic reflections,weak and chaotic internal seismic reflections,and are accompanied by local deformation of the surrounding sedimentary strata.Meanwhile,they have higher positive gravity anomalies and higher magnetic anomalies than the background strata.The petrological dating results show that volcanic ages are primarily in the Pliocene-Pleistocene,with geochemical characteristics indicating dominance of oceanic island basalt(OIB)-type alkali-basalts.Extensional faults have obviously spatial correspondence with post-spreading volcanism,suggesting these faults may provide conduits for submarine volcanism.The high-velocity bodies(HVBs)in the lower crust and magma underplating exist in the southern SCS,which could provide a clue of genesis for submarine volcanism.The inference is that the intensity of post-spreading volcanism in the southern margin might be affected by stretching faults,crustal thinning and magma underplating.Chenglong ZHANG Shaohong XIA Chaoyan FAN Jinghe CAO 2023Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2023,41,2:1

19Research on the Impact of Market Competition, Ownership Structure, and Corporate Social Responsibility显示文摘This article takes companies listed from 2014 to 2016 as research objects,relies on principal–agent theory,stakeholder theories,and reputation theories,and examines the ownership structure,market competition,and corporate social responsibility(CSR)using a multiple regression approach based on a hybrid ownership perspective.At the same time,the relationship between market competition and equity structure was studied.Research shows that product competition degree and CSR are in an inverted“U”relationship;ownership concentration is positively related to CSR;equity balance and CSR are negative.When related to market competition variables,the mixed-owned companies listed degree of ownership concentration are still positively related to CSR,and the linear relationship of negative balance of ownership balance becomes an inverted“U”-shaped curve relationship.The market competition has improved the restraint of CSR by the degree of ownership balance.Li Huang Chaoyan Hu 2018Proceedings of Business and Economic Studies2018,1,3:0
