| 1 | PROBLEMS AND COUNTERMEASURES OF WATER RESOURCES FOR SUSTAINABLE UTILIZATION IN CHINA显示文摘According to the theory of sustainable development,the current situation and existent problems of the expl oita-tion of water resources were analyze d in this paper.The results show that the contradiction between supply an d demand of water resources is continually aggravating,water pollution is incre asingly serious,water environment is worse,the over-extraction area of the underground water is expanding and water crisis stands out gradually,so it is imp erative under the situation to actualize the susta inable exploitation strategies of water resources.It is necessary for s ustainable utilizing water resources to introduce the mod el of sustainable utilization of water resources-the model of wealth transferring be-tween the generations of water resou rces,establish water-saving socie ty system and water market,form tech nology sys-tems,management systems and evaluation systems for many sorts of water r esources,improve the utilization r atio of water resources,transform waste water in to resources and maintain and restore the water space of water environmen t. | DENG Wei,BAI Jun-hong,YAN Min-hua(Changchun Institute of Geography,t he Chinese Academy of Sciences,Changchun 130012,P.R.China) | 2002 | Chinese Geographical Science2002，12，4： | 3 |
| 2 | FEASIBLE STUDY ON THE INTEGRATION SYSTEM FOR THE SPACE MONITORING OF MAJOR EARTHQUAKES AND VOLCANOES IN TERRESTRIAL LAND显示文摘With the rapid development of space technology,earth observation tech nology and sky observatory technolo-gy,they have played a more and more im portant part in monitoring and predi cting of earthquakes and volcanoes i n the terres-trial land.In recent years,the rela ted agencies have done the experimen ts and researches on monitoring and p redicting of earthquakes and volcanoes in the forewarning period by means of many appr oaches,such as satellite thermal in frared re-mote sensing(TIRS),Global Positioning System(GPS),differential interferometric syn thesis aperture radar(D-INSAR),astronomical time-latitude residual anomaly,and Geographic Information Systems (GIS),etc.A quite large number of re-search foundation has been built in t he fundamental theories and applica tion methods.The experiments and re searches have shown that these technology is e fficient methods for high frequency crust movement.If the existed separate scientific forces and results are possibly asse mbled together to form a more complete integration monitoring system wit h the combina-tion of space,sky observation,grou nd,deep geology and macro anomaly,i t will come into a new stage of monitoring and predicting of earthquakes and volca nic eruptions. | BO Li-qun(Changchun Institute of Geography,t he Chinese Academy of Sciences,Changchun 130012,P.R.China) | 2002 | Chinese Geographical Science2002，12，4： | 2 |
| 3 | BORDER PORT MANZHOULI:URBAN FUNCTION AND SPACE DEVELOPMENT显示文摘Manzhouli is the largest land port city on the Sino-Russia border,transit cargo through the land port amount -ed to 5.95million tons,transit tour ists were 304500in 2000.It stands at the joint place of China,Mongolia an d Russi-a,faces to Siberia area of Russia,re ceives direct support from the North east China and Bohai Sea Rim Area,and possess-es priorities in geographical location,land port infrastructure,wate r resources,coal resources,touris t resources and great potentiality in economic coop eration with Russia.The future urban function is a key port on the First Eurasia Continen-tal Bridge.Manzhouli Port will keep its first place between China and Russia land transport,and it is forecasted that the transit amount through Manzhouli Port will go up to 10million tons in 2005and 20million tons in 2010.It will be construct-ed to be a trade center of the peripheral area extending to Russia and Mongolia,a key export-oriented processing industri-al zone supported by industries such as export processing industries,export agriculture,trade services,t echnology trad-ing and the other service industries.It keeps being a well-known touring city for trade,shopping,sightseeing,vocation,local food,recreation and cultural events.To build Manzhouli Export Pr ocessing Industry Zone will improve city econom-ic structure,and the main sectors are organic food processing,livestock products processing,garment and f urniture indus-try.Moreover,Manzhouli Export Pro cessing Industry Zone will eventually be upgraded to be a border free trad e zone.The city functional transition will inevitably affect urban spatial restructure and its expansion.The city space transforma-tion will develop as such:one develo pment axis of No.301highway paralle ling with Bin -Zhou(Harbin -Manzhouli)rail-way which cuts through central part o f Manzhouli City,and links Zhalainuoer District with central city;thre e urban units including central city,Zhalainuoer District and Manzhouli Interchange Trade Zone;cohesion with Aoerjin a nd Cuogang pastures;regional dual-nuclei str ucture of Hailaer City and Manhzouli City;and the Manzhouli-Zabaykalsk Free Trade Zone. | ZHANG Ping-yu,MA Yan-ji,YU Zhen-han(Changchun Institute of Geography,t he Chinese Academy of Sciences,Changchun 130012,P.R.China) | 2002 | Chinese Geographical Science2002，12，4： | 2 |

| 7 | A Novel Method for Synthesizing 4,4′-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-2,2′-bipyridine显示文摘There are several paths for synthesizing 4,4′ bis(hydroxymethyl) 2,2′ bipyridine, but most of them need strict experimental conditions that are not easy to be overcome. We designed a simple way to prepare this product via the oxidation of 4,4′ bismethyl 2,2′ bipyridine, followed by esterification and reduction. The yield increases and the reaction conditions become genial in contrast to those of other methods. | 10 | DESIGN AND COMPILATION OF AGRICULTURAL ELECTRONIC ATLAS AT COUNTY-LEVEL显示文摘:With the rapid development and application of new techniques,cartograp hy has entered the 21st centu-ry’s digital period from computer-a ssist mapping in the 1970s,traditio nal map representation has transformed from 2-D,mono-medium,static into 3-D,multi-media,dynamic and network(including internet),and gradually is developing to-wards 4-D(time,space).There appeared digital map,electr onic map,soft map,hard map,interac tive map,mingle map etc.Agricultural map needs to in clude much more contents in 3-D,multi-media than other types of map.Only electron-ic mapcanrepresentcompletely these contents.Compiling agricultural electronic atlas atcounty-levelaims to reflectscientifi-cally China’s modernization agricu lture development level,the new ach ievements of agricultural science a nd technology.Agricultural electronic atlas at county-level should take“sustainable development as the theme;systematically reflec t the natural resources and natural en vironment in a county;the spatial an d temporal distribution and changin g lawof agricultur-al resources(including climate,soil and water).In the paper the authors introduce t he concrete contents of agricultura l electronic atlas,their compilatio n process,and corresponding software and hard ware as well as an example.In agricul tur-al electronic atlas design the most advanced multi-media techniques must be used.The procedure of agricultu ral electron-ic atlas includes the study on compilation aim,content selection analysis,overall framework and data organ ization,determin-ing compilation program.Agricultu re includes many contents;each county has its own emphasis.In designing we set up a county’s theme according to its con crete situation,the atlas contents are selected around the theme.For example,the main problems faced by the agricultu re of Da’an City in Jilin Province is l and desertification,so land desertification and its control are the theme of agricult ural electronic atlas of Da’an City.When we compile other county’s agric ultural electron-ic atlas,only changing theme conten ts,can we get another county’s agric ultural electronic atlas. | ZHU Jin-hua(Changchun Institute of Geography,t he Chinese Academy of Sciences,Changchun 130021,P.R.China)A | 2001 | Chinese Geographical Science2001，11，3： | 0 |
