Some Physical Properties of CuTlSe Alloy显示文摘The structure and optical properties of Cu0.1Tl2Se3 alloy was studied. X-ray analysis showed that the polycrystalline powder consists of a mixture of two phases Cu3jTlSe2 (monoclinic) and TISe (tetragonal). Chalcopyrite phase CuTISe2 can be obtained by annealing the powder at 250’C for 1 h. Thin film with a monoclinic phase of Cu3TlSe2 was obtained for the thick film (0.7 um). The optical parameters a, n, k, e’ and e' and the energy gap were calculated. The thermoelectric power measurements showed that S has a positive polarity over the whole range of temperature. | A.Abdel All Physics Department, Faculty of Science , Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt K.A.Sharaf Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University for Girls, Cairo, Egypt A.Elshafie Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Menoufia University, She | 2001 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2001,17,2: | 2

Effect of Stearic Acid on Ettringite Formation显示文摘The hydration reaction of a mixture of tricalcium aluminate (C3A) and gypsum with the molar ratio of 1:3 was carried out at room temperature and a water/solid ratio of 4.0. The hydration was carried out in presence of 0, 1 and 3% stearic acid and the mixes were designated as A, B and C, respectively. Ettringite was the only hydration product formed in the presence and absence of stearic acid. Phase composition, microstructure, infra-red analysis as well as degree of hydration were carried out for the different hydration mixtures. The rate of ettringite formation in the presence of 3% stearic acid was accelerated during the first half hour of hydration, and then retardation was occurred. In the presence of 1% stearic acid the ettringite formation was accelerated first till 3 days, then retardation was observed at later hydration ages. | Essam A.KisharDepartment of Chemistry, Faculty of Girls, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt | 2002 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2002,18,3: | 1

AC Conductivity of (As_2Te_3)_(100-x)Ge_x Bulk Glassy System显示文摘The ac conductivity of the bulk amorphous chalcogenide system (As2Te3)100-xGex (where x=0,5,10,15 and 25 at. pct) was investigated at variable frequencies ranging from 50 Hz to 100 kHz and at different temperatures ranging from 3O to 160℃. lt was found that at a fixed temperature, where n <1 and decreases with temperature. The complex impedence Z was measured over the same frequency and temperature ranges. All samples give a semicircle arc originating at the origin point. This indicates that each composition can be described only by one resistance R and one capacity C, both parallelly combined. The centre below the real axis indicates the relaxation behaviour of the system. The activation energies for conduction were calculated. | A-Abdel-All(Physics Dept., Faculty of Science, Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt) | 1998 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology1998,14,3: | 0
Optical Dispersion Parameters with Different Orientations for SrLaAlO_4 Single Crystals显示文摘The different optical dispersion parameters of SrLaAlO4 single crystals have been studied by the transmission andreflection measurements at normal incidence for the three orientations 001, 100 and 101 in the spectral range400 nm~2500 nm.The optical absorption data revealed the existance of allowed indirect and direct transition. Therefractive index has abnormal behaviour in the spectral region 400~900 nm, but has a normal one in the higherwavelength region. The optical dispersion parameters, the single oscillator energy Eo and the dispersion energy Edwere determined and indicated the ionic structure of the material. The high-frequency dielectric constant, the latticedielectric constant and the electronic polarizability were determined by the free carriers and the lattice vibrationmodes. The real dielectric constant e1, the dielectric loss tangent (tanδ), the volume (VELF) and the surface energyloss function (SELF) have also been discussed. | Z.El-Gohary, M.El-Nahass, H.Soliman and Y.L.El-Kady Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Menoufia University, Shebin El- Koom, Egypt Physics Department, Faculty of Education, Ain Shamd University, Cairo, Egypt | 2003 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2003,19,1: | 0

Effect of Accelerated Ageing on the Dielectric Behaviour of Some Varnish Dry Films显示文摘The variation of the dielectric constant e’ and the dielectric loss e' of polyesteramide, alkyd polyesteramide and alkyd varnish dry films were measured within the frequency range from 105 to 107 Hz and the temperature range from 20 to 50℃. The varnish films were subjected to accelerated ageing by heating at 110℃ for diferent durations. The efect of the accelerated ageing on e’ and e' were measured. The activation energy and the entropy change of dielectric relaxation for the dry films before and after ageing were also calculated. All the results obtained were recorded and discussed in correlation with the molecular structure of the investigated varnishes. | S.A.El-Henawii(Faculty of Science, Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt) | 1995 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology1995,11,5: | 0
Dielectric Behaviour of Mixtures of Polyethylene Glycol with Propionaldehyde and Benzaldehyde显示文摘The dielectric constant e’ and dielectric loss e' of several mixtures of propionaldehyde-polyethylene glycol (system 1) and benzaldehyde-polyethylene glycol (system II) have been measured within the frequency band 105-107 Hz and the temperature range 20-50℃. The dielectric behaviour is discussed. on the other hand, the dielectric relaxation time T. activation energy △He, and entorpy change △Se for the dielectric relaxation as well as activation energy of viscous flow △Hv are calculated for the same temperature range. It is suggested that the observed increase in T values with increas.ng glycol content is due to an increase in the hydrogen bonding in the aggregates or clusters which would be formed between the carbonyl group of the aldehyde and the hydrogen atoms from the glycot molecules. In addition, the higher values of T, △He, and △Se in case of system (II) than that in case of system (I) may be due to the greater volume of the aggregates and the stronger dipole-dipole forces in system (II) compared with those in system (I). | I.M.El-Anwar and I.Z.Selim(Physical Chemistry Dept., National Research Center, Dokki, Cairo, Egypt)( To whom correspondence should be addressed)(To whom correspondence should be addressed)A.A.Foad(Faculty of Science, Helwan University, Helwan, Cairo, Egyp | 1995 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology1995,11,5: | 0
Effects of Hyperfine and Dopant Cation Interactions on theDC-Electrical Conductivity of MnZn Ferrites显示文摘Samples of undoped, and CuO, CaO, Al2O3 as well as V2O5 doped MnZn ferrite were prepared using standard ceramic method. The X-ray diffraction results for the base and doped ferrite samples show a single phase with spinel cubic structure. The Mossbauer spectrum of the base sample indicates line broadening and overlapping due to relaxation of magnetic dipoles. The temperature dependence of DC-electrical conductivity has been discussed on the basis of electronic conduction (electron hopping) and ionic conduction mechanism. | M.M.Abou Sekkina(Chem. | 14 | Cobalt in alluvial Egyptian soils as affected by industrial activities显示文摘Twenty five surface (0—20 cm) soil samples were collected from different locations in Egypt representing non polluted, moderately and highly polluted soils. The aim of this study was to evaluate total Co content in alluvial soils of Delta in Egypt using the delayed neturen activation analysis technique (DNAA). The two prominent gamma ray lines at 1173 2 and 1332 5 keV was efficiently used for 60 Co determination. Co content in non polluted soil samples ranged between 13 12 to 23 20 ppm Co with an average of 18 16±4.38 ppm. Cobalt content in moderately polluted soils ranged between 26 5 to 30 00 ppm with an average of 28 3±1.3 ppm. The highest Co levels (ranged from 36 to 64 69 ppm with an average of 51 9±9.5); were observed in soil samples collected from, either highly polluted agricultural soils due to prolonged irrigation with industrial wastewater or surface soil samples from industrial sites. | Ensegam A.M. | 16 | Effect of Some Admixtures on the Hydration of Silica Fume and Hydrated Lime显示文摘The effects of sodium salt of naphthalene formaldehyde sulfonic acid and stearic acid on the hydration of silica fume and Ca(OH)2 have been investigated. The hydration was carried out at 60°C and W/S ratio of 4 for various time intervals namely, 1,3,7 and 28 days and in the presence of 0, 2% and 5% superplasticizer and stearic acid. The results of the hydration kinetics show that both admixtures accelerate the hydration reaction of silica fume and calcium hydroxide during the first 7 days. Whereas, after 28 days hydration there is no significant effect. Generally, most of free calcium hydroxide seems to be consumed after 28 days. In addition, the phase composition as well as the microstructure of the formed hydrates was examined by using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) respectively. | Eisa E.Hekal (Faculty of Science, Ain-Shams University, Abbassia 11566, Cairo, Egypt) | 2000 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2000,16,4: | 0
