1Effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine herbs for tonifying Qi and kidney, and replenishing spleen on intermittent asthma in children aged 2 to 5 years old显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) herbs for tonifying Qi and kidney, and replenishing spleen on intermittent asthma in children aged 2 and 5 years.METHODS: A randomized, single-blind, placebo controlled trial was conducted. Children with intermittent asthma were enrolled and their baseline conditions were measured using a questionnaire. A total of 60 participants, aged 2 to 5, were randomized into either the treatment group(n = 40) or the placebo group(n = 20). The treatment group was treated with granules of TCM herbs for tonifying Qi and kidney, and replenishing spleen, and the placebo group was given placebo granules for 3 months.The number of asthma attacks was counted and TCM syndrome scores were measured at 1, 2, 3, 6, 9,and 12 months. The airway resistance and levels of eosinophil cationic protein for the two groups were observed before and after 3 months. The results were statistically analyzed.RESULTS: Compared with the placebo group, the number of asthma attacks significantly decreased in the treatment group(P < 0.05). For the treatment group, the TCM syndrome scores decreased after 1 and 2 months; there was also a significant difference in scores between the two groups(P < 0.05).The difference remained after the medicine was stopped for 9 months(P < 0.05). After the 3-month treatment, compared with the placebo group, the airway resistance decreased in the treatment group(P < 0.05). No adverse events were reported in the treatment group.CONCLUSION: The TCM herbs for tonifying Qi and kidney, and replenishing spleen reduced the number of intermittent asthma attacks, decreased the TCM syndrome scores, and reduced the airway resistance in the children aged 2 to 5.Geng Yingying Wang Wenge Zhang Junhong Bi Shuying Li Hongxia Lin Meijiao 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,1:5

7A post-modification strategy to precisely construct dual-atom sites for oxygen reduction electrocatalysis显示文摘Dual-atom catalysts(DACs) afford promising potential for oxygen reduction electrocatalysis due to their high atomic efficiency and high intrinsic activity.However,precise construction of dual-atom sites remains a challenge.In this work,a post-modification strategy is proposed to precisely fabricate DACs for oxygen reduction electrocatalysis.Concretely,a secondary metal precursor is introduced to the primary single-atom sites to introduce direct metal-metal interaction,which ensures the formation of desired atom pair structure during the subsequent pyrolysis process and allows for successful construction of DACs.The as-prepared FeCo-NC DAC exhibits superior oxygen reduction electrocatalytic activity with a half-wave potential of 0,91 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode.Zn-air batteries equipped with the FeCo-NC DAC demonstrate higher peak power density than those with the Pt/C benchmark.More importantly,this post-modification strategy is demonstrated universal to achieve a variety of dual-atom sites.This work presents an effective synthesis methodology for precise construction of catalytic materials and propels their applications in energy-related devices.Juan Wang Xinyan Liu Chang-Xin Zhao Yun-Wei Song Jia-Ning Liu Xi-Yao Li Chen-Xi Bi Xin Wan Jianglan Shui Hong-Jie Peng Bo-Quan Li Jia-Qi Huang 2024Journal of Energy Chemistry2024,90,3:0
8C60(OH)n-loaded nanofibrous membranes protect HaCaT cells from ROS-associated damage显示文摘Environmental stress factors could lead to the excess generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS) that induces various forms of skin damage related to oxidative stress. Polyhydroxylated fullerene derivative C_(60)(OH)_n, acting as an effective agent for prevention of skin aging, is widely used in the lotion and sunscreens in the field of cosmetics, but rarely used in the masks. In this study, we prepared C_(60)(OH)_n loaded nanofibrous membranes to protect human keratinocyte cells from ROS-associated damage and suppress the elevation of intracellular ROS and Ca^(2+) along with the apoptotic cell death. Two FDAapproved biodegradable polymers, PLGA and PCL, have been used for making the electrospun nanofibers,with C_(60)(OH)_n added to the polymers as an antioxidant.
