| 3 | Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Al/Mg Alloy Multilayered Composites Produced by Accumulative Roll Bonding显示文摘Al/Mg alloy multilayered composites were produced successfully at the lower temperature(280 C) by accumulative roll bonding(ARB) processing technique.The microstructures of Al and Mg alloy layers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.Vickers hardness and three-point bending tests were conducted to investigate mechanical properties of the composites.It is found that Vickers hardness,bending strength and stiffness modulus of the Al/Mg alloy multilayered composite increase with increasing the ARB pass.Delamination and crack propagation along the interface are the two main failure modes of the multilayered composite subjected to bending load.Strengthening and fracture mechanisms of the composite are analyzed. | H.S. | 4 | PERSPECTIVES IN MECHANICS OF HETEROGENEOUS SOLIDS显示文摘The Microand Nano-mechanics Working Group of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics organized a forum to discuss the perspectives,trends,and directions in mechanics of heterogeneous materials in January 2010.The international journal,Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica,is devoted to all fields of solid mechanics and relevant disciplines in science,technology,and engineering,with a balanced coverage on analytical,experimental,numerical and applied investigations.On the occasion of the 30 th anniversary of Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica,its editor-in-chief,Professor Q.S.Zheng invited some of the forum participants to review the state-of-the-art of mechanics of heterogeneous solids,with a particular emphasis on the recent research development results of Chinese scientists.Their reviews are organized into five research areas as reported in different sections of this paper.§I firstly brings in focus on microand nano-mechanics,with regards to several selective topics,including multiscale coupled models and computational methods,nanocrystal superlattices,surface effects,micromechanical damage mechanics,and microstructural evolution of metals and shape memory alloys.§II shows discussions on multifield coupled mechanical phenomena,e.g.,multi-fields actuations of liquid crystal polymer networks,mechanical behavior of materials under radiations,and micromechanics of heterogeneous materials.In §III,we mainly address the multiscale mechanics of biological nanocomposites,biological adhesive surface mechanics,wetting and dewetting phenomena on microstructured solid surfaces.The phononic crystals and manipulation of elastic waves were elaborated in §IV.Finally,we conclude with a series of perspectives on solid mechanics.This review will set a primary goal of future science research and engineering application on solid mechanics with the effort of social and economic development. | C.Q. | 6 | THE INFLUENCE OF CAVITY DAMAGE ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF SUPERPLASTICALLY-DEFORMED MATERIALS AND ITS PREDICTION显示文摘Aluminium alloy LY12CZ sheet without any pre-treatment has been used to study the influence of cavity damage on the mechanical properties of the superplastically-deformed materials room temper- ature. The experimental results show that: (1) the lower the rate of cavitation as the superplastic strain increases, the higher the superplasticity is; (2) the mechanical properties of superplastically- deformed materials at room temperature decrease as the superplastically-deformed strain increases, especially, a noteworthy decrease in elasticity modulus, yield strenth and ultimate strength at room temperature begins to appear as the level of cavitation by area comes up to about 4%, while at the same level the reduction in area drops down a very large quantity. | 7 | Effect of High Magnetic Field on Growth Behavior of Compound Layers during Reactive Diffusion between Solid Cu and Liquid Al显示文摘The effect of magnetic field on the growth behavior of compound layer was examined at the interface between the solid Cu and liquid Al during reactive diffusion. It was found that the thickness of compound layer was reduced by the high magnetic field. | 11 | LASER LIFT-OFF OF GaN THIN FILMS FROM SAPPHIRE SUBSTRATES显示文摘Gallium Nitride film was successfully separated from sapphire substrate by laser radiation. The absorption of the 248nm radiation by the GaN at the interface results in rapid thermal decomposition of the interfacial layer, yielding metallic Ga and N2 gas. The substrate can be easily removed by heating above the Ga melting point (29℃). | 14 | Geographical distribution of red and green Noctiluca scintillans显示文摘The dinoflagellate Noctiluca scintillans is one of the most important and abundant red tide organisms and it is distributed world-wide. It occurs in two forms. Red Noctiluca is heterotrophic and fills the role of one of the microzooplankton grazers in the foodweb. In contrast, green Noctiluca contains a photosynthetic symbiont Pedinomonas noctilucae (a prasinophyte), but it also feeds on other plankton when the food supply is abundant. In this review, we document the global distribution of these two forms and include the first maps of their global distribution. Red Noctiluca occurs widely in the temperate to sub-tropical coastal regions of the world. It occurs over a wide temperature range of about 10°C to 25°C and at higher salinities (generally not in estuaries). It is particularly abundant in high productivity areas such as upwelling or eutrophic areas where diatoms dominate since they are its preferred food source. Green Noctiluca is much more restricted to a temperature range of 25°C-30°C and mainly occurs in tropical waters of Southeast Asia, Bay of Bengal (east coast of India), in the eastern, western and northern Arabian Sea, the Red Sea, and recently it has become very abundant in the Gulf of Oman. Red and green Noctiluca do overlap in their distribution in the eastern, northern and western Arabian Sea with a seasonal shift from green Noctiluca in the cooler winter convective mixing, higher productivity season, to red Noctiluca in the more oligotrophic warmer summer season. | P. | 16 | Effects of Boron Addition on Grain Refinement in TiAl-based Alloys显示文摘Solid state phase transformation characteristics of the body centred β(Ti) into the hexagonal closed packed α(Ti) in Ti45Al8Nb-(0, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.8 at. pct) B alloys were investigated by heat treatment to clarify γ/α2 lamellar microstructure refinement induced by B addition. Experimental results confirmed two kinds of boron-reduced grain refinement mechanisms through refining either β phase then α phase (β-refinement) or α phase directly (α-refinement) to refine lamellar microstructure at room temperature; however, the role of α-refinement dominated the as-cast lamellar microstructure refinement over β-refinement in Ti45Al8NbxB alloy. | 17 | The Characterization of Sputtered Zr-Ge-N Thin Films as Diffusion Barriers Between Copper and Silicon显示文摘The main purpose of the present micro-structural analysis by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and X-ray diffraction(XRD)was to investigate whether amorphous Zr-Ge-N films are a potential candidate as a diffusion barrier for Cu wiring used in Si devices.The Zr-Ge-N films were prepared by a radio frequency(RF)reactive magnetron sputter-deposition technique using N2 and Ar mixed gas,and the film structure was found to be sensitive to the gas flow ratio of N2 vs.Ar during sputtering.Polycrystalline Zr-Ge-N films were obtained when the N2/(Ar+N2)ratio was smaller than 0.2 and amorphous-like Zr-Ge-N films were obtained when the ratio was larger than 0.3.Diffusion barrier test was performed by annealing the Cu/Zr-Ge-N/Si film stack under Ar atmosphere.The deposited Zr-Ge-N(C)films remained amorphous even after high temperature annealing.The Cu diffusion profile in the film was assessed by the Auger electron spectroscopy(AES).The results indicate that Cu diffusion was minimal in amorphous Zr-Ge-N(C)films even at high annealing temperatures of 800℃. | Yang, J.
