| 1 | Flapping wing micro-aerial-vehicle: Kinematics, membranes, and flapping mechanisms of ornithopter and insect flight显示文摘The application of biomimetics in the development of unmanned-aerial-vehicles(UAV)has advanced to an exceptionally small scale of nano-aerial-vehicles(NAV), which has surpassed its immediate predecessor of micro-aerial-vehicles(MAV), leaving a vast range of development possibilities that MAVs have to offer. Because of the prompt advancement into the NAV research development, the true potential and challenges presented by MAV development were never solved,understood, and truly uncovered, especially under the influence of transition and low Reynolds number flow characteristics. This paper reviews a part of previous MAV research developments which are deemed important of notification; kinematics, membranes, and flapping mechanisms ranges from small birds to big insects, which resides within the transition and low Reynolds number regimes. This paper also reviews the possibility of applying a piezoelectric transmission used to produce NAV flapping wing motion and mounted on a MAV, replacing the conventional motorized flapping wing transmission. Findings suggest that limited work has been done for MAVs matching these criteria. | 3 | Development and characterization of food packaging bioplastic film from cocoa pod husk cellulose incorporated with sugarcane bagasse fibre显示文摘Agricultural wastes,including cocoa pod husk(waste from the chocolate industry)and sugarcane bagasse(waste from the sugar industry),are increasing day by day.The development of food packaging biofilms from these two wastes could be beneficial to the environment and human.Therefore,this study was conducted to develop biodegradable plastic films by using cocoa pod husk and sugarcane bagasse.Cellulose and fibre were extracted from cocoa pod husk and sugar-cane bagasse,respectively.The developed bioplastic films were divided into several concentration ratios of cellulose and fibre which are 100꞉0(100%cellulose),75꞉25(cellulose꞉fibre),50꞉50(cel-lulose꞉fibre),25꞉75(cellulose꞉fibre),and 0꞉100(100%fibre).The physicochemical properties for all bioplastic concentration ratios were determined in terms of sensory evaluation,drying time,moisture content,water absorption and water vapor permeability.From the observation and anal-ysis of the physicochemical properties of bioplastic,we found that the most suitable bioplastic film for food packaging goes to the combination of 75%cellulose and 25%fibre bioplastic,as it demonstrated the lowest water absorption percentage and water vapor permeability. | Siti Nuurul Hud Mohammad Azmin Najah Aliah binti Mohd Hayat Mohd Shukri Mat Nor | 2020 | Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2020,5,4: | 1 |

| 19 | Profiling neuroprotective potential of trehalose in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases:a systematic review显示文摘Trehalose,a unique nonreducing crystalline disaccharide,is a potential disease-modifying treatment for neurodegenerative diseases associated with protein misfolding and aggregation due to aging,intrinsic mutations,or autophagy dysregulation.This systematic review summarizes the effects of trehalose on its underlying mechanisms in animal models of selected neurodegenerative disorders(tau pathology,synucleinopathy,polyglutamine tract,and motor neuron diseases).All animal studies on neurodegenerative diseases treated with trehalose published in Medline(accessed via EBSCOhost)and Scopus were considered.Of the 2259 studies screened,29 met the eligibility criteria.According to the SYstematic Review Center for Laboratory Animal Experiment(SYRCLE)risk of bias tool,we reported 22 out of 29 studies with a high risk of bias.The present findings support the purported role of trehalose in autophagic flux and protein refolding.This review identified several other lesser-known pathways,including modifying amyloid precursor protein processing,inhibition of reactive gliosis,the integrity of the blood-brain barrier,activation of growth factors,upregulation of the downstream antioxidant signaling pathway,and protection against mitochondrial defects.The absence of adverse events and improvements in the outcome parameters were observed in some studies,which supports the transition to human clinical trials.It is possible to conclude that trehalose exerts its neuroprotective effects through both direct and indirect pathways.However,heterogeneous methodologies and outcome measures across the studies rendered it impossible to derive a definitive conclusion.Translational studies on trehalose would need to clarify three important questions:1)bioavailability with oral administration,2)optimal time window to confer neuroprotective benefits,and 3)optimal dosage to confer neuroprotection. | Kah Hui Yap Shahrul Azmin Suzana Makpol Hanafi Ahmad Damanhuri Muzaimi Mustapha Jemaima Che Hamzah Norlinah Mohamed Ibrahim | 2023 | Neural Regeneration Research2023,18,6: | 0 |
