Identification of gas zones and chimneys using seismic attributes analysis at the Scarab field, offshore,Nile Delta,Egypt显示文摘Seismic attributes supported by composite logs are the best way that can enable the interpreter to understand seismic data very well and generate a new view of the output results.Detection of the reservoir zone can be enhanced by analyzing wells log data based on Gamma-ray,Resistivity,and Vp sonic logs respectively.Composite logs of Scarab-1,Scarab-De,Scarab-Da,Scarab-Dd,and Scarab-2 wells indicate the lateral and vertical variation of the gas reservoir in ElWastani Formation. However, there are several seismic attributes that can be used to support reservoirs identification. For enhancement the detection of the hydrocarbon reservoirs,it is important to carefully analyze the 2D seismic data, which in this study will be primarily prepared to enhance seismic attributes results for the identification of gas chimneys, gas zones as channels, enhance stratigraphic and structural interpretations. In this article,we have performed data conditioning, quality control and seismic well ties including the preliminary wavelet extractions to get accurate output. Then,we have extracted of several classes of physical, geometrical and complex attributes as a direct hydrocarbon indicator to identify the gas zones, channels and chimneys and to identify the faults and discontinuities. The main contribution of this work is to provide a more detailed seismic reflection image supported by several seismic attributes classes and well logs to show a visual and quantitative evidence to identify the gas channels and gas chimneys with improving the detection of the faults and discontinuities.Amir Ismail Hatem Farouk Ewida Mohammad Galal Al-Ibiary Sergio Gammaldi Aldo Zollo 2020Petroleum Research2020,5,1:4
Effect of hand hygiene intervention on the absenteeism of pre-school children in Klang Valley,Malaysia:a quasi-experimental study显示文摘Background Absenteeism amongst pre-school children is often due to illnesses such as hand, foot, and mouth disease, acute gastroenteritis, cold and flu, which are easily spread amongst them. This is because of weak immunity and lack of knowledge on proper hand hygiene. This quasi-experimental study assessed the efficacy of an intervention consisting of a hand hygiene education programme, along with digital tools in bringing about a change in behaviour and health conditions amongst pre-school children in Klang Valley,Malaysia. Methods A total of 377 school children, male and female, aged 5–6 years old, participated and were assigned to either the intervention or a control group.During the 2 months intervention period, children in the test group were trained on proper hand hygiene practices and techniques with the aid of the interactive android-based tablets. The numbers of absent days of all the children were recorded for 2 months before the intervention and during the intervention. Results In the test group, there was a 25%increase in the total number of absent days from the pre-intervention period to the intervention period,a much lesser increment observed as compared to that of control group in which the increase was much higher at 89%.Results showed a significant difference(P<0·05)between the absenteeism rates for the test and control group during the intervention period. Conclusion These results suggest that proper education and intervention increase hand hygiene compliance, which may help decrease school absenteeism due to illness;however,a longer study duration may be necessary to evaluate the benefit further.Nurul Azmawati Mohamed Mohd Dzulkhairi Mohd Rani Tengku Zetty Maztura Tengku Jamaluddin Zarini Ismail Shalinawati Ramli Habibah Faroque Farisha Nur Abd Samad Abdul Rashid Ariffien Aisyah Ar Redha Che Amir FaridIlina Isahak 2020World Journal of Pediatrics2020,16,4:2
Application of AVO attributes for gas channels identification, West offshore Nile Delta, Egypt显示文摘The offshore part of the Nile Delta is considered one of the most prolific provinces for gas production andfor future petroleum exploration. Amplitude Variation with Offset (AVO) analysis supported by composite logs considered as one of the best-advanced techniques enables the interpreter to understand theseismic data. It is used to generate a new view of the output results, especially for the identification of gaszones as gas channels by using pre-stack AVO attributes that based on the intercept product gradient(A*B) and the Scaled Poisson’s Ratio Change. Free gas, regardless of the percentage show obvious AVOanomaly. Well log data, including gamma-ray, resistivity, and Vp sonic logs are used in the seismic data towell tie and in the generation of the synthetic seismogram. Seismic data conditioning processes withcheck-shot correction is performed to improve the resolution of the reflection events and signal to noiseratio. AVO attributes technique, as a direct hydrocarbon indicator, including AVO gradient analysis andAVO crossplot separate the gas levels in the sand-shale sequences. The identified gas-bearing zonesconsistent with well log data responses. As the main conclusion, we show the visual evidence for the gasbearing zones by interpreting different AVO responses due to the changes in fluid and rock types.Amir Ismail Hatem Farouk Ewida Mohammad Galal Al-Ibiary Aldo Zollo 2020Petroleum Research2020,5,2:1

The Spatial Structure of Zooplankton Communities of Pedu Reservoir,Malaysia显示文摘A total of 22 species of zooplankton were identified from 8 sampling stations located in the limnetic zone of Pedu reservoir. The zooplankton community was dominated by rotifers (11 species),followed by cladocerans (9 species) and copepods (2 species).Four species of zooplankton comprised of 3 rotifers,Brachionus quadridentata,Brachionus caudatus and Keratella cochlearis and one cladoceran,Ceriodaphnia cornuta were present at all sampling stations.Species richness was highest at Station 2 (17 species) followed by Station 4 and Station 8 (14 species),Station 5 (15 species),Station 7 (11 species),Station 6 (10 species),Station 3 (9 species) and Station 1 (7 species). With an exception of water transparency, all other water quality parameters such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, conductivity,pH and total dissolved solids were not significant when compared between sampling stations. The study found that station 5 which was located in a calm strait, protected from strong wave and wind was a suitable area for zooplankton growth and establishment.Factors supporting the findings included highest water transparency (3.4 m),rich in species numbers (15 species),high diversity index (0.950) and evenness index (0.808).Amir Shah Ruddin Md Shah Johan Ismail Diana Latief Wan Maznah Wan Omar 2012湿地科学2012,10,4:0
Effect of head tilt on repeatability of optic nerve head parameters using Cirrus spectral-domain optical coherence tomography显示文摘AIM: To assess the repeatability of measuring optic nerve head(ONH) parameters using the Cirrus optical coherence tomography(OCT), as well as to assess the effect of head tilt on these measurements.METHODS: Thirty healthy participants with no evidence of glaucoma were recruited for the study. Visual acuity, intraocular pressure, standard automated perimetry and ocular examination were performed for each participant. One eye was then randomly selected and scanned undilated with the Cirrus OCT in 3 positions(neutral, 30° right tilt and 30° left tilt).RESULTS: Data collected from 29 eyes were used for analysis. One patient was omitted due to poor scan quality. The repeatability of the ONH parameters was analyzed using analysis of variance, coefficient of variation(COV) and intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC). Analysis of variance showed no statistically significant difference between 3 scans in a single position. There was good agreement between measurements(ICC 0.919-0.996, COV 1.94%-5.48%).Even with the presence of head tilt, repeated scans in the 3 positions showed good agreement as well(ICC 0.888-0.996, COV 2.04%-5.39%).CONCLUSION: Serial measurements of ONH parameters using the Cirrus OCT are found to have good repeatability. The ONH parameters with Cirrus OCT also maintain good repeatability despite head tilt.Lilian Hui Li Koh Muhammad Amir Ismail Sae Cheong Yap Elizabeth Poh Ying Wong Leonard Wei Leon Yip 2016International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2016,9,8:0
Sequence stratigraphic evaluation for the Abu Madi Formation,Abu Madi/El Qar'a/Khilala gas fields, onshore Nile Delta,Egypt显示文摘The present study aims to integrate a large set of geological and geophysical data into a comprehensive model describing the depositional features of the Abu Madi/El Qar'a/Khilala gas fields. The model is based on the sequence stratigraphic framework of the Abu Madi Formation defined using cores, well logs, and time-migrated seismic data.Seismic trace attribute sections and relative acoustic impedance sections are also used.A possible depositional pattern for the main Level Ill is established, based on the lithological and petrophysical information derived from the seismic data analysis. The Abu Madi For-mation can be regarded as a depositional sequence recording the progressive drowning of the incised valley. The sequence is bounded at the base by an erosional unconformity, created by a drop in the level of the Late Messinian Sea,and at the top by a drowning unconformity related to the Early Pliocene transgression. The bottom of Level II divides the Abu Madi sequence into two smaller sequences. In both sequences,gas-bearing traps can be found in the Lowstand Systems Tracts, represented by the fluvial Level Ill and fluvial-deltaic Level Il,respectively.Farouk I.Metwalli Amir Ismail M.S.Metwally Ibrahim M.El Shafei 2023Petroleum Research2023,8,4:0
Hepatic and renal effects of oral stingless bee honey in a streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat model显示文摘BACKGROUND Diabetes is known damage the liver and kidney, leading to hepatic dysfunction and kidney failure.Honey is believed to help in lowering the blood glucose levels of diabetic patients and reducing diabetic complications. However, the effect of stingless bee honey(SBH)administration in relieving liver and kidney damage in diabetes has not been well-studied.AIM To investigate the effect of SBH administration on the kidney and liver of streptozotocin-induced(STZ;55 mg/kg)diabetic Sprague Dawley rats.METHODS The rats were grouped as follows(n=6 per group):non-diabetic(ND),untreated diabetic(UNT),metformin-treated(MET),and SBH+metformin-treated(SBME)groups.After successful diabetic induction,ND and UNT rats were given normal saline, whereas the treatment groups received SBH(2.0 g/kg and/or metformin(250 mg/kg)for 12 d.Serum biochemical parameters and histological changes using hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)and periodic acid–Schiff(PAS)staining were evaluated.RESULTS On H&E and PAS staining, the ND group showed normal architecture and cellularity of Bowman’s capsule and tubules, whereas the UNT and MET groups had an increased glomerular cellularity and thickened basement membrane. The SBH-treated group showed a decrease in hydropic changes and mild cellularity of the glomerulus vs the ND group based on H&E staining, but the two were similar on PAS staining.Likewise, the SBME-treated group had an increase in cellularity of the glomerulus on H&E staining, but it was comparable to the SBH and ND groups on PAS staining.UNT diabetic rats had tubular hydropic tubules, which were smaller than other groups.Reduced fatty vacuole formation and dilated blood sinusoids in liver tissue were seen in the SBH group.Conversely, the UNT group had high glucose levels, which subsequently increased MDA levels, ultimately leading to liver damage.SBH treatment reduced this damage,as evidenced by having the lowest fasting glucose, serum alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, and alkaline phosphatase levels compared to other groups, although the levels of liver enzymes were not statistically significant.CONCLUSION The cellularity of the Bowman’s capsule,as well as histological alteration of kidney tubules, glomerular membranes, and liver tissues in diabetic rats after oral SBH resembled those of ND rats. Therefore,SBH exhibited a protective hepatorenal effect in a diabetic rat model.Suriati Mohd Nasir Anis Farihan Ismail Tuan Salwani Tuan Ismail Wan Faiziah Wan Abdul Rahman Wan Amir Nizam Wan Ahmad Tengku Ahmad Damitri Al-Astani Tengku Din Kuttulebbai Nainamohammed Salam Sirajudeen 2024World Journal of Experimental Medicine2024,14,1:0
