7Evaluation of trace element mobilization and control under different fluidized bed combustion scenarios显示文摘As consequence of its relatively abundant reserves compared to other energy sources,coal will continue to be widely employed in power plants.To reduce coal’s negative impact on the environment,new approaches have been evaluated and adopted by various countries in recent years to minimize CO_(2) emissions.Initial developments focused on the selection of new fuels(such as biomass fuels)to combine with coal to reduce emissions from coal combustion,whereas subsequent approaches aimed at implementing new processes for CO_(2) capture and storage,such as oxy-fuel combustion.In addition,coal combustion is one of the main anthropogenic sources of trace elements(TE)emitted to the atmosphere.The increasing knowledge acquired as to the impact of these pollutants in the environment has led to more restricted emission standards for some of these elements and to increased research on the technologies and pathways to control these emissions.This article reviews the main factors involved in TE capture by comparing results obtained for Hg and other TEs under different control scenarios.Both the effect of novel combustion processes and the potential of different pollution control techniques toward these pollutants are discussed.María Luisa Contreras Alberto Bahillo 2018Clean Energy2018,2,2:0
8Endoscopic pancreatic necrosectomy in the United States-Mexico border:A cross sectional study显示文摘BACKGROUND A recent expert panel issued recommendations about the technical aspects of direct endoscopic necrosectomy(DEN) for pancreatic walled-off necrosis(WON).However, significant technical heterogeneity still exists among endoscopists.AIM To report the outcomes of our DEN technique and how it differs from a recent expert consensus statement and previous studies.METHODS Medical records of patients with WON who underwent DEN from September2016-May 2019 were queried for the following information: Age, gender,ethnicity, etiology of acute pancreatitis, WON location and size, DEN technical information, adverse events(AEs) and outcomes. Adverse events were graded according to the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Lexicon grading system. Technical success was defined as adequate lumen apposing metal stent(LAMS) deployment plus removal of ≥ 90% of necrosum. Clinical success was defined as complete resolution of WON cavity by imaging and resolution of symptoms at ≤ 3 months(mo) after last DEN. Data analysis was performed using mean and standard deviation for continuous variables,frequency and proportion for categorical variables, and median and range for interval data.RESULTS A total of 21 patients underwent DEN. Most of them were Hispanic and their mean age was 51 ± 17 years. The majority of the collections were located in the body of the pancreas and the mean size was 13 cm ± 5 cm. The most common indication was persistent vomiting. Antibiotics were administered only in cases of infected necrosis. All LAMS were placed without radiological guidance,dilated the same day of deployment and removed after a mean of 27 ± 11 d.Routine cross-sectional imaging immediately after drainage was not performed.The mean interval between DEN sessions was 7 ± 4 d and the mean number of DEN/patient was 3 ± 2. Technical and clinical success rates were both 95%. AEs were seen in 5 patients and included: Sepsis(2), stent migration(1), stent maldeployment(1), perforation(1). The sensitivity and positive predictive value of an occluded LAMS leading to sepsis was 50% and 0.11 respectively. No fatalities were observed.CONCLUSION Our DEN technique differed significantly from the one recommended by a recent expert panel and the one published in previous studies. 9Higher cardiovascular risk scores and liver fibrosis risk estimated by biomarkers in patients with metabolic-dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease显示文摘BACKGROUND The definition of metabolic-dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)allows identification of metabolically complicated patients.Fibrosis risk scores are related to cardiovascular risk(CVR)scores and could be useful for the identification of patients at risk of systemic complications.AIM To evaluate the relationship between MAFLD and CVR using the Framingham risk score in a group of Mexican patients.METHODS Cross-sectional,observational and descriptive study carried out in a cohort of 585 volunteers in the state of Veracruz with MAFLD criteria.The risk of liver fibrosis was calculated with aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index,nonalcoholic fatty liver disease score and fibrosis-4,as well as with transient hepatic elastography with Fibroscan~?.The CVR was determined by the Framingham system.RESULTS One hundred and twenty-five participants(21.4%)with MAFLD criteria were evaluated,average age 54.4 years,63.2%were women,body mass index 32.3 kg/m~2.The Framingham CVR was high in 43 patients(33.9%).Transient elastography was performed in 55.2%of volunteers;39.1%with high CVR and predominance in advanced fibrosis(F3–F4).The logistic regression analysis showed that liver fibrosis,diabetes and hypertension independently increased CVR.CONCLUSION One of every three patients with MAFLD had a high CVR,and in those with high fibrosis risk,the CVR risk was even greater.Giovanni Alejandro Salgado Alvarez Samanta Mayanin Pinto Galvez Uriel Garcia Mora Ana Delfina Cano Contreras Cristina Durán Rosas Bryan Adrián Priego-Parra Arturo Triana Romero Mercedes Amieva Balmori Federico Roesch Dietlen Sophia Eugenia Martinez Vazquez Ines Osvely Mendez Guerrero Luis Alberto Chi-Cervera Raúl Bernal Reyes Leonardo Alberto Martinez Roriguez Maria Eugenia Icaza Chavez Jose Maria Remes Troche 2022World Journal of Hepatology2022,14,8:0
