1Rituximab for troublesome cases of childhood nephrotic syndrome显示文摘Nephrotic syndrome(NS) is the most common glomerular disease of childhood. Steroid-dependent and steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome present challenges in their pharmaceutical management; patients may need several immunosuppressive medication for optimum control, each of which medication has its own safety profile. Rituximab(RTX) is a monoclonal antibody that targets B cells and has been used successfully for management of lymphoma and rheumatoid arthritis. Recent clinical studies showed that rituximab may be an efficacious and safe alternative for the treatment of complicated nephrotic syndrome. In this review article, we aim to review the efficacy and safety of RTX therapy in nephrotic syndrome. We reviewed the literature pertaining to this topic by searching for relevant studies on Pub Med and Medline using specific keywords. The initial search yielded 452 articles. These articles were then examined to ensure their relevance to the topic of research. We focused on multicenter randomized controlled trials with relatively large numbers of patients. A total of 29 articles were finally identified and will be summarized in this review. The majority of clinical studies of RTX in complicated pediatric NS showed that rituximab is effective in approximately 80% of patients with steroid-dependent NS, as it decreases the number of relapses and steroid dosage. However, RTX is less effective at achieving remission in steroid-resistant NS. RTX use was generally safe, and most side effects were transient and infusion-related. 3GeoLink Data Set:A Complex Alignment Benchmark from Real-world Ontology显示文摘Ontology alignment has been studied for over a decade,and over that time many alignment systems and methods have been developed by researchers in order to find simple 1-to-1 equivalence matches between two ontologies.However,very few alignment systems focus on finding complex correspondences.One reason for this limitation may be that there are no widely accepted alignment benchmarks that contain such complex relationships.In this paper,we propose a real-world data set from the GeoLink project as a potential complex ontology alignment benchmark.The data set consists of two ontologies,the GeoLink Base Ontology(GBO)and the GeoLink Modular Ontology(GMO),as well as a manually created reference alignment that was developed in consultation with domain experts from different institutions.The alignment includes 1:1,1:n,and m:n equivalence and subsumption correspondences,and is available in both Expressive and Declarative Ontology Alignment Language(EDOAL)and rule syntax.The benchmark has been expanded from its original version to contain real-world instance data from seven geoscience data providers that has been published according to both ontologies.This allows it to be used by extensional alignment systems or those that require training data.This benchmark has been incorporated into the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative(OAEI)complex track to help researchers test their automated alignment systems and algorithms.This paper also analyzes the challenges inherent in effectively generating,detecting,and evaluating complex ontology alignments and provides a road map for future work on this topic.Lu Zhou Michelle Cheatham Adila Krisnadhi Pascal Hitzler 2020Data Intelligence2020,2,3:2

15Activating weak electrophiles to break nonpolar C-C bonds with electric fields显示文摘Electrophilic aromatic substitution(EAS)is a vital chemical reaction in organic chemistry that involves replacing substituent on an aromatic ring by an electrophile.Despite its widespread industrial applications in the production of substituted aromatic compounds,the reaction typically requires harsh reaction conditions,such as high temperature and potent Lewis acid catalysts,to activate the electrophile due to the stability of the aromatic ring[1].Recently,a study published by Yaping Zang and colleagues in Nature Communications demonstrates the use of an electric field as a catalyst to regulate EAS reactivity,replacing conventional chemical reagents.The research team discovered that an electric field could activate an otherwise unreactive electrophile and break inert nonpolar C-C bonds under mild conditions.These unprecedented results showcase the potential for broadening the scope of EAS reactions via electric field catalysis.Xueyan Zhao Adila Adijiang Dong Xiang 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,11:0

17Environmental Impacts of the Existing Solid Waste Management System of Northern Lahore显示文摘With the substantial increase in solid waste due to industrialization and urbanization,the environmental damage has also aggravated,making the management of solid waste an important issue throughout the world.Global warming,species extinction,imbalance in nutrient cycle and random disposal of hazardous waste are some environmental problems threatening sustainable development.The solid waste from the study area mainly consists of organic waste(66%),recyclables(25%) and miscellaneous waste(9%).About 10% of the organic waste is composted by public facilities funded by the government;whereas the entire miscellaneous waste is dumped at dumping sites without going through any treatment.About 41% of the recyclables are sold to junk shops by households,and 28% are sorted out by scavengers at dumping sites.An EASEWASTE model is used to evaluate the impacts of existing solid waste management system on environment.The major gases which contribute to life cycle impact assessment are carbon dioxide(CO;),methane(CH4),nitrous oxide(N;O),CFCs(CFC-11,CFC-12,CFC-113,CFC-114 and CFC-115),HCFCs(HCFC-22,HCFC-123,HCFC-124 and HCFC-141 b),HFCs(HFC-125,HFC-134 a and HFC-152 a),halons,tetra chloromethane(CCl;),1,1,1-trichloroethane(CCl;CH;) and carbon monoxide(CO),and global warming potential is calculated by the EASEWASTE model at different timelines,i.e.20,100 and 500 years,respectively.Human toxicity via water and air is also evaluated and it found that the existing system is polluting the environment in many ways.Syeda Amber FATIMA Mohammad Nawaz CHAUDHRY Syeda Adila BATOOL 2019Chinese Journal of Urban and Environmental Studies2019,7,3:0
18Pest and disease incidence of coniferous species in Taman Saujana Hijau,Putrajaya urban park,Malaysia显示文摘Taman Saujana Hijau(TSH),Putrajaya is a 41-ha urban park planted with various coniferous species from around the world.Insect pests and disease incidences of this park are unknown and there is a need for an evaluation of the health status of this urban park.This study assessed the level of pest and disease incidents of coniferous species in 12 plots of 7 species(Araucaria bidwilii,Araucaria haterophylla,Araucaria cunninghamii,Pinus caribaea,Pinus merkusii,Podocarpus polystachyus,and Podocarpus costalis).Termites,canker disease,and foliar disease are three major problems.The highest pest and disease incidence(PnDI)was foliar disease with a 0.49 coefficient correlation between the total number of trees and the PnDI,followed by canker disease with 0.40,and termites with 0.36.Of the seven conifers,A.haterophylla was the most infected followed by A.bidwilii and A.cunninghamii.It was concluded that the incidence of pests and diseases in TSH was moderate.To our knowledge,this may be the first baseline inventory of pests and diseases of coniferous species in Malaysia.Nura Adila Shamsul Kamar Siti Khadijah Abd Rahim Annya Anak Ambrose Norida Hanim Awing Zaiton Samdin Aff endy Hassan Mohd Nazre Saleh Razak Terhem 2023Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,6:0

20Efficacy,effectiveness,and safety of combination laser and tranexamic acid treatment for melasma:A meta-analysis显示文摘Background: Melasma is an acquired pigmentation condition characterized by its refractory nature and a high risk of recurrence. Treatment of melasma is challenging owing to its unclear etiology, stubborn resistance to treatment, and frequent relapses. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the efficacy, effectiveness, and safety of monotherapy and combination therapy(combination of laser and tranexamic acid(TXA)) for the treatment of melasma using a network meta-analysis.Method: The PRISMA guidelines were used in this meta-analysis, with a literature search conducted in reputable sources, such as Cochrane, Science Direct, Pub Med, and Google Scholar.Results: From the initial search, 1 504 relevant studies were identified. After careful analysis, three studies were included in the meta-analysis. The results showed no significant differences in the Melasma Area and Severity Index(MASI) score between monotherapy(control group) and a combination therapy of laser and TXA. The mean difference in MASI score was 1.87(95% confidence interval(CI),-0.78–4.52;P=0.17), indicating no significant difference between the two treatment approaches. Side effects were more common in the combination treatment group than in the control group.
