2The Association of Maternal Body Composition and Dietary Intake with the Risk of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus during the Second Trimester in a Cohort of Chinese Pregnant Women显示文摘Objective To investigate the association of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods A total 154 GDM subjects and 981 controls were enrolled in a prospective cohort study in 11 hospitals from May 20, 2012 to December 31, 2013. Bioelectrical impedance analysis and dietary surveys were used to determine body composition and to evaluate the intake of nutrients in subjects at 21-24 weeks' gestation(WG). Logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the relationships of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of GDM morbidity. Results Age, pre-pregnant body weight(BW), and body mass index(BMI) were associated with increased risk of GDM. Fat mass(FM), fat mass percentage(FMP), extracellular water(ECW), BMI, BW, energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates at 21-24 WG were associated with an increased risk of GDM. In contrast, fat free mass(FFM), muscular mass(MM), and intracellular water(ICW) were associated with a decreased risk of GDM. 4Induction of apoptosis of human gastric carcinoma SGC-7901 cell line by 5,7-dihydroxy-8-nitrochrysin in vitro显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of 5, 7-dihydroxy-8- nitrochrysin (NOChR) on apoptosis of human gastric carcinoma SGC-7901 cell line. METHODS: SGC-7901 cells were cultured in vitro and the inhibitory effect of NOChR on proliferation of SGC-7901 cells was measured by using an MTT assay. NOChR-induced apoptosis rate of SGC-7901 cells was detected using flow cytometry (FCM) with PI staining. DNA ladder bands were observed by DNA agarose gel electrophoresis. The influence of NOChR on the proxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ), Bcl-2 and Bax protein expression of SGC-7901 cells was analyzed by Western blot. RESULTS: MTT assay showed that NOChR markedly inhibited proliferation of SGC-7901 cells in a dose- dependent manner, and when IC50 was 4.14 μmol/L, the potency of NOChR was 10 times than that of lead compound, chrysin (ChR, IC50 was 40.56 μmol/L), and was similar to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU, IC50 was 4.51 μmol/L). FCM with propidium iodide (PI) staining demonstrated that the apoptosis rates of SGC-7901 cells treated with 1.25, 5.00 and 20.00 μmol/L NOChR for 48 h were 9.8% ± 0.2%, 36.8% ± 1.9% and 45.5% ± 3.5%, respectively, and were significantly higher when treated with 5.00 and 20.00 μmol/L NOChR than that with 20.00 μmol/L ChR (12.9% ± 1.5%). DNA agarose gel electrophoresis showed that treatment of SGC-7901 cells with 20.00 μmol/L NOChR for 48 h resulted in typical DNA ladder bands of DNA of SGC-7901 cells, which could be eliminated by treating with 10.00 μmol/L GW9662, a blocker of PPARγ. Western blot analysis revealed that after 24 h of treatment with 20.00 μmol/L NOChR, PPARgamma and Bax protein expression of SGC-7901 cells increased but Bcl-2 expression decreased; however, pre-incubation with 10.00 μmol/L GW9662 could efficiently antagonize and weaken the regulatory effect of 20.00 μmol/L NOChR on Bax and Bcl-2 protein expression of SGC-7901 cells. 5C-reactive Protein Level,Apolipoprotein B-to-apolipoprotein A-1 Ratio,and Risks of Ischemic Stroke and Coronary Heart Disease among Inner Mongolians in China显示文摘Objective We aimed to investigate the cumulative effect of high CRP level and apolipoprotein B-to-apolipoprotein A-1(ApoB/ApoA-1) ratio on the incidence of ischemic stroke(IS) or coronary heart disease(CHD) in a Mongolian population in China.Methods From June 2003 to July 2012,2589 Mongolian participants were followed up for IS and CHD events based on baseline investigation.All the participants were divided into four subgroups according to C-reactive protein(CRP) level and ApoB/ApoA-1 ratio.Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate the hazard ratios(HRs) and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) for the IS and CHD events in all the subgroups.Results The HRs(95% CI) for IS and CHD were 1.33(0.84-2.12),1.14(0.69-1.88),and 1.91(1.17-3.11) in the ‘low CRP level with high ApoB/ApoA-1',‘high CRP level with low ApoB/ApoA-1',and ‘high CRP level with high ApoB/ApoA-1' subgroups,respectively,in comparison with the ‘low CRP level with low ApoB/ApoA-1' subgroup.The risks of IS and CHD events was highest in the ‘high CRP level with high ApoB/ApoA-1' subgroup,with statistical significance.Conclusion High CRP level with high ApoB/ApoA-1 ratio was associated with the highest risks of IS and CHD in the Mongolian population.This study suggests that the combination of high CRP and ApoB/ApoA-1 ratio may improve the assessment of future risk of developing IS and CHD in the general population.TIAN Yun Fan ZHOU Yi Peng ZHONG Chong Ke BUREN Batu XU Tian LI Hong Mei ZHANG Ming Zhi WANG Ai Li ZHANG Yong Hong 2016Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2016,29,7:12

7First observation of thermospheric neutral wind at Chinese Yellow River Station in Ny-lesund, Svalbard显示文摘A compact and cost-effective all-sky Fabry-Perot interferometer, which is produced by Wuhan University and used for the observation of the thermospheric neutral wind, was installed at Chinese Yellow River Station in Nylesund, Svalbard in November 2010, and continuously operated in last two winter seasons. The 92-day all-sky interference data acquired from November 1, 2011 to February 26, 2012 were collected to get the velocity of thermospheric neutral wind, which was calculated from the Doppler shift caused by the movement of oxygen atom at the different layers. The database was divided into two periods: (1) The OI 557.7 nm emission was observed from November 1, 2011 to January 12, 2012. Observations showed that the velocity of horizontal wind is normally less than ~40 m/s on the quiet condition, and exceeded 100 m/s on the disturbed condition; and (2) the OI 630.0 nm emission was observed from January 13, 2012 to February 26, 2012. Observations showed that the velocity of horizontal wind is normally less than ~200 m/s, and enhanced to over 300 m/s on strong magnetic activities. It shows that the velocities of meridional and zonal wind are more consistent with the velocities calculated from the model HWM07 at the higher layer, especially for the zonal direction at nightside auroral regions. Ion drag and Joule heating were the two important processes considered in the analysis of the relationship between the wind pattern and aurora, suggesting that wind speed would be increased and accelerated in the direction perpendicular to the aurora arc when the aurora activity becomes strong.ZHANG Hong AI Yong ZHANG YanGe HU GuoYuan 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,11:10
8Regulation of Survivin and CDK4 by Epstein-Barr virus encoded latent mem-brane protein 1 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines显示文摘Latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1), an important protein encoded by Epstein Barr virus (EBV), has been implied to link with the pathogenesis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Its dual effects of increasing cell proliferation and inhibiting cell apoptosis have been confirmed. In this study, we showed that the expression of Survivin and CDK4 protein in CNE-LMP1, a LMP1 positive NPC epithelial cell line, is higher than in LMP1 negative NPC epithelial cell line- CNE1, and the expression is LMP1 dosage-dependent. Although it was reported that Survivin specifically expressed in cell cycle G2/M phase, our studies suggested that LMP1 could promote the expression of Survivin in G0/G1, S and G2/ M phase. It also showed that Survivin and CDK4 could be accumulated more in the nuclei triggered by LMP1. More interestingly, Survivin and CDK4 could form a protein complex in the nuclei of CNE-LMP1 rather than in that of CNE1, which demonstrated that the interaction between these two proteins could be promoted by LMP1. 9The preoperative serum cystatin-C as an independent prognostic factor for survival in upper tract urothelial carcinoma显示文摘Cystatin-C(Cys-C)has been reported as a valuable prognostic biomarker in various malignancies.However,its effect on upper tract urothelial carci noma(UTUC)patie nts has not bee n investigated before.Thus,to explore the impact of Cys-C on survival outcomes in patients undergoing radical nephroureterectomy(RNU),a total of 538 patients with UTUC who underwent RNU between 2005 and 2014 in our center(West China Hospital,Chengdu,China)were included in this study.Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regressi on an a lyses were performed to assess the relationship betwee n Cys-C and survival outcomes using SPSS versi on 22.0.The cutoff value of Cys-C was set as 1.4 mg I1 using the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves and Youden index.The mean age of patients included was 66.1±11.1 years,and the media n follow-up durati on was 38(interquartile ran ge:19-56)mon ths.Overall,162(30.1%)patients had elevated Cys-C,and they were much older and had worse renal function than those with Cys-C<1.4 mg I^-1(both P<0.001).Meanwhile,Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed that the group with elevated Cys-C had worse cancer-specific survival(CSS,P=0.001),disease recurrence-free survival(RFS,P=0.003),and overall survival(OS,P<0.001).Multivariable Cox analysis suggested that the elevated Cys-C was identified as an independent prognostic predictor of CSS(hazard ratio[HR]:1.997,95%confidential interval[CI]:1.331-2.996),RFS(HR:1.429,95%CI:1.009-2.023),and OS(HR:1.989,95%CI:1.366-2.896).In conclusion,our result revealed that the elevated preoperative serum Cys-C was significantly associated with worse outcomes in UTUC patients undergoing RNU.Ping Tan Ming Shi Jie Chen Hang Xu Nan Xie Huan Xu Yong Jiang Jian-Zhong Ai Liang-Ren Liu Lu Yang Qiang Wei 2019Asian Journal of Andrology2019,21,2:7

11Validation of the China-PAR Equations for Cardio-cerebrovascular Risk Prediction in the Inner Mongolian Population显示文摘The objective of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the China-PAR equations in predicting the 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease(CVD) in the Inner Mongolians population. A population-based, prospective cohort of 2,589 Mongolians were followed up from 2003 to 2012.Participants were categorized into 4 subgroups according to their 10-year CVD risks calculated using the China-PAR equations: < 5%, 5%-9.9%,10%-19.9%, and ≥ 20%. The China-PAR equations discriminated well with good C statistics(range,0.76-0.86). The adjusted hazard ratios for CVD showed an increasing trend among the 4 subgroups(P for trend < 0.01). However, the China-PAR equations underestimated the 10-year CVD risk in Mongolians, and the calibration was unsatisfactory(Hosmer-Lemeshow χ~2 = 19.98, P < 0.01 for men, χ~2 = 46.58, P < 0.001 for women). 13Combined Effects of A Body Shape Index and Serum C-reactive Protein on Ischemic Stroke Incidence among Mongolians in China显示文摘Objective We aimed to evaluate the combined effects of a high body shape index(ABSI) and a high serum C-reactive protein(CRP) level on the incidence of ischemic stroke in a Mongolian population in China. Methods A prospective cohort study was conducted among 2,589 participants from June 2002 to July 2012 in Inner Mongolia, China. The participants were categorized into 4 groups according to their level of ABSI and CRP. Cox proportional hazards models were used to assess the hazard ratios(HRs) and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) for ischemic stroke among all groups. Results The multivariate adjusted HRs(95% CI) of ischemic stroke for high ABSI and high CRP level were 1.46(0.89-2.39) and 1.63(0.95-2.79), respectively. Compared with the low ABSI/low CRP level group, the multivariate adjusted HRs(95% CI) of ischemic stroke in the low ABSI/high CRP, high ABSI/low CRP, and high ABSI/high CRP groups were 1.04(0.46-2.35), 1.06(0.58-1.95) and 2.52(1.27-5.00), respectively. The HR of ischemic stroke for the high ABSI/high CRP level group was the highest and most statistically significant. Conclusion We found that participants with simultaneously high ABSI and high CRP levels had the highest risk of ischemic stroke in the Mongolian population. 16Use of ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT to locate primary malignancies in patients with hepatic cirrhosis and malignant ascites显示文摘Objective:Ascites in patients with hepatic cirrhosis is caused by cirrhosis in most cases.For most malignant ascites,the primary malignancy could be readily identified using conventional imaging methods,e.g.,computer tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).However,in a small fraction of the patients,the primary malignancy remains occult even with these examinations.In this retrospective study,we assessed the usefulness of18F-FDG PET/CT in patients with hepatic cirrhosis and malignant ascites of otherwise unknown origin.Methods:Twenty-eight patients with malignant ascites of unknown primary sites after CT,MRI and ultrasound during the period of five years between January 2008 and December 2012 had received18F-FDG PET/CT.Medical records of these patients were reviewed and analyzed.Results:Elevated18F-FDG absorption was found in 23 of 28 cases in the following sites:gastrointestinal tract(n=10,43.5%),prostate(n=5,21.7%),peritoneum(n=4,13.3%),and ovary(n=4,13.3%).Cancer was confirmed by pathology in 20 cases after open or laparoscopic surgeries.Five patients were found to have benign ascites,among which,3 were found to be false positive due to tuberculosis.SUV values were significantly higher for tumors than for benign lesions(mean values,6.95 vs.2.94;P=0.005).Conclusions:The18F-FDG PET/CT can be as a powerful imaging tool in identifying tissue origin in liver cirrhosis patients suspected of cancers or with cancers of unknown primary sites.He-Bin Fan Ai-Jun Wang Dong-Liang Yang Jun Xiao Yun Ai Lu Huang Yong Guo Mu-Xiu Zhou Juan-Juan Wu Zhi Li Fu-Ming Yan Yi-Ming Wang 2013Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,5:3
17Combined Effects of Family History of Cardiovascular Disease and Serum C-reactive Protein Level on the Risk of Stroke: A 9.2-year Prospective Study among Mongolians in China显示文摘Objective We aimed to evaluate the combined effect of a family history of cardiovascular disease(CVD) and high serum C‐reactive protein(CRP) on the stroke incidence in an Inner Mongolian population in China. Methods A prospective cohort study was conducted from June 2002 to July 2012, with 2,544 participants aged 20 years and over from Inner Mongolia, China. We categorized participants into four groups based on the family history of CVD and CRP levels. Results We adjusted for age; sex; smoking; drinking; hypertension; body mass index; waist circumference; and blood glucose, triglycerides, low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol, and high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. Compared with the group with no family history of CVD/low CRP levels, the group with family history of CVD/high CRP levels had a hazard ratio(HR) of 1.78 [95% confidence interval(CI), 1.03‐3.07; P = 0.039] of stroke, and an HR of 2.14(95% CI, 1.09‐4.20; P = 0.027) of ischemic stroke. The HRs of hemorrhagic stroke for the other three groups were not statistically significant(all P > 0.05). 19First scanning Fabry–Perot interferometer developed in China显示文摘A scanning Fabry–Perot interferometer(SFPI)was first developed and deployed at the Langfang near Space Environment Field Scientific Observation Station(39.38°N,116.65°E)of the National Space Science Center,CAS.The instrument is designed to measure the mesospheric and thermospheric wind velocities using the atomic oxygen 557.7-nm and 630.0-nm emissions.Data from February 28 to March 3and February 28 to March 15 in 2011 were chosen for case study and mean value study,respectively.The errors of the meridional and zonal winds are 6.5 and 7.5 m/s at 557.7-nm and at 630.0-nm,they are 7.1 and 6.6 m/s,respectively.During the whole experiment,the instrument has performed in good condition and provided high-quality data.The mean neutral wind data were consistent with that predicted by HWM07.Good agreement has been found in between the SFPI and a neighbor Meridian Project Fabry–Perot interferometer(MP FPI),with a corresponding coefficient(r2)larger than 80%.In general,the scanning FPI meets the design goal,and it is a useful ground-based instrument for measuring mesospheric and thermospheric winds at middle latitudes and is able to provide high-quality data for future scientific studies.Guoyuan Hu Yong Ai Yange Zhang Hong Zhang Jue Liu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,5:2
