| 1 | Aminosaccharide-gold nanoparticle assemblies as narrow-spectrum antibiotics against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus显示文摘Bacterial infection has continued to be a leading cause of death or disability worldwide because of antibiotic resistance.Antibiotic agents specific to certain taxa of bacteria,i.e.,narrow-spectrum antibiotics,have become useful because they can kill bacteria without resulting in broad-spectrum drug resistance.In this study,we describe a series of antibiotics based on combining gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with aminosaccharides,even though these AuNPs or aminosaccharides by themselves are ineffective against any bacteria.The AuNP-based multivalent aminosaccharides can effectively and selectively inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria (including drug-resistant superbacteria).In particular,aminosaccharidemodified AuNPs are effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA),a particularly hard-to-treat strain.This report carves out a way to explore antibiotics by combining AuNPs and an aminosaccharide as multivalent nanostructures,neither of which by itself is effective as an antibiotic. | Xinglong Yang Lingmin Zhang Xingyu Jiang | 2018 | Nano Research2018,11,12: | 5 |
| 2 | Surveying brain tumor heterogeneity by single-cell RNA-sequencing of multi-sector biopsies显示文摘Brain tumors are among the most challenging human tumors for which the mechanisms driving progression and heterogeneity remain poorly understood.We combined single-cell RNA-seq with multi-sector biopsies to sample and analyze single-cell expression profiles of gliomas from 13 Chinese patients.After classifying individual cells;we generated a spatial and temporal landscape of glioma that revealed the patterns of invasion between the different sub-regions of gliomas.We also used single-cell inferred copy number variations and pseudotime trajectories to inform on the crucial branches that dominate tumor progression.The dynamic cell components of the multi-region biopsy analysis allowed us to spatially deconvolute with unprecedented accuracy the transcriptomic features of the core and those of the periphery of glioma at single-cell level.Through this rich and geographically detailed dataset,we were also able to characterize and construct the chemokine and chemokine receptor interactions that exist among different tumor and non-tumor cells.This study provides the first spatial-level analysis of the cellular states that characterize human gliomas.It also presents an initial molecular map of the cross-talks between glioma cells and the surrounding microenvironment with single-cell resolution. | Kai Yu Yuqiong Hu Fan Wu Qiufang Guo Zenghui Qian Waner Hu Jing Chen Kuanyu Wang Xiaoying Fan Xinglong Wu John EJ Rasko Xiaolong Fan Antonio lavarone Tao Jiang Fuchou Tang Xiao-Dong Su | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,8: | 4 |
| 3 | Photoelectric detection technology of laser seeker signals显示文摘The measurement of the rolling angle of the projectile is one of the key technologies for the terminal correction projectile.To improve the resolution accuracy of the rolling angle in the laser seeker weapon system, the imaging model of the detector, calculation model of the position and the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) model of the circuit are built to derive both the correlation between the resolution error of the rolling angle and the spot position, and the relation between the position resolution error and the SNR. Then the influence of each parameter on the SNR is analyzed at large,and the parameters of the circuit are determined. Meanwhile, the SNR and noise voltage of the circuit are calculated according to the SNR model and the decay model of the laser energy. Finally,the actual photoelectric detection circuit is built, whose SNR is measured to be up to 53 d B. | 5 | Microglia activation mediated by toll-like receptor-4 impairs brain white matter tracts in rats显示文摘Microglia activation and white matter injury coexist after repeated episodes of mild brain trauma and ischemic stroke. Axon degeneration and demyelination can activate microglia; however, it is unclear whether early microglia activation can impair the function of white matter tracts and lead to injury. Rat corpus callosum(CC) slices were treated with lipopolysaccharide(LPS) or LPS + Rhodobacter sphaeroides(RS)-LPS that is a toll-like receptor 4(TLR-4) antagonist. Functional changes reflected by the change of axon compound action potentials(CAPs) and the accumulation of β-amyloid precursor protein(β-APP) in CC nerve fibers. Microglia activation was monitored by ionized calcium binding adaptor-1 immunofluorescent stain, based on well-established morphological criteria and paralleled proportional area measurement. Input-output(I/O) curves of CAPs in response to increased stimuli were significantly downshifted in a dose-dependent manner in LPS(0.2, 0.5 and 1.0μg/mL)-treated slices, implying that axons neurophysiological function was undermined. LPS caused significant β-APP accumulation in CC tissues,reflecting the deterioration of fast axon transport. LPS-induced I/O curve downshift and P-APP accumulation were significantly reversed by the pre-treatment or co-incubation with RS-LPS. RS-LPS alone did not change the I/O curve.The degree of malfunction was correlated with microglia activation, as was shown by the measurements of proportional areas. | 6 | Preliminary survey of estrogenic activity in part of waters in Haihe River, Tianjin显示文摘A preliminary survey of estrogenic activity of the contaminant in part of waters (Ziya River and the estu- ary of Haihe River) in Haihe River, Tianjin has been per- formed with the plasma vitellogenin (Vtg) in feral fish as a biomarker for estrogenic activity. The concentrations of bisphenol A (BPA), 4-tert-octylphenol (OP) and 4-nonyl- phenol (NP) in surface water were also determined. The presence of Vtg in male fish plasma as well as that in female can be detected at different sites and different seasons. The results indicate that the water in the sampling sites was con- taminated by some estrogenic compounds. | 15 | Event-triggered shared lateral control for safe-maneuver of intelligent vehicles显示文摘With the increasing number of cars,road traffic accidents have caused a lot of losses every year and human factors play an important role in many cases.Applying active safety assistance control or shared control techniques in intelligent vehicles is promising to reduce the number of traffic accidents.In this context,the dynamic optimization of the shared control policy and the smooth transitions of control authority between human drivers and intelligent driving systems are critical issues to be solved.Motivated by this,this paper proposes an event-triggered shared control approach for safe-maneuver of intelligent vehicles with online risk assessment.In the proposed approach,a Bayesian regularized artificial neural network(BRANN)is designed to predict vehicle trajectories and build a quantization function to assess the risk level owing to potential collision events.The shared controller dynamically optimizes the shared control policies between the human and the intelligent driving system via solving a model predictive control(MPC)problem.The predicted driving behaviors in the prediction horizon are pre-computed with a finite-horizon model predictor steering the predicted trajectories contributed by human driving.Moreover,smooth transitions back to human driving mode are realized via adding penalties on the shared control of the intelligent driving system.Three simulation scenarios in the PreScan environment,i.e.,rear-end collision avoidance,lane-keeping and unskilled driving,are studied to test the effectiveness of the proposed approach.The simulation results,including the comparison with a linear quadratic regulator(LQR)-based shared controller,are reported,which show that the proposed approach can timely evaluate dangerous events and realize safe driving in terms of collision avoidance and lane-keeping.Also,the proposed approach outperforms the LQR-based shared controller in terms of smooth transitions. | Yan JIANG Xinglong ZHANG Xin XU Xing ZHOU Zhengzheng DONG | 2021 | Science China(Information Sciences)2021,64,7: | 1 |
