6Effects of six years of simulated N deposition on gross soil N transformation rates in an old-growth temperate forest显示文摘Elevated atmospheric nitrogen(N) deposition has been detected in many regions of China, but its effects on soil N transformation in temperate forest ecosystems are not well known. We therefore simulated N deposition with four levels of N addition rate(N0, N30, N60, and N120) for6 years in an old-growth temperate forest in Xiaoxing'an Mountains in Northeastern China. We measured gross N transformation rates in the laboratory using ^(15)N tracing technology to explore the effects of N deposition on soil gross N transformations taking advantage of N deposition soils. No significant differences in gross soil N transformation rates were observed after 6 years of N deposition with various levels of N addition rate. For all N deposition soils, the gross NH_4^+ immobilization rates were consistently lower than the gross N mineralization rates,leading to net N mineralization. Nitrate(NO_3^-) was primarily produced via oxidation of NH_4^+(i.e., autotrophic nitrification), whereas oxidation of organic N(i.e., heterotrophic nitrification) was negligible. Differences between the quantity of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria and ammonia-oxidizing archaea were not significant for any treatment, which likely explains the lack of a significant effect on gross nitrification rates. Gross nitrification rates were much higher than the total NO_3^- consumption rates,resulting in a build-up of NO_3^-, which highlights the high risk of N losses via NO_3^- leaching or gaseous N emissions from soils. 11miRNA-dysregulation associated with tenderness variation induced by acute stress in Angus cattle显示文摘miRNAs are a class of small, single-stranded, non-coding RNAs that perform post-transcriptional repression of target genes by binding to 3' untranslated regions. Research has found that miRNAs involved in the regulation of many metabolic processes. Here we uncovered that the beef quality of Angus cattle sharply diversified after acute stress. By performing miRNA microarray analysis, 13 miRNAs were significantly differentially expressed in stressed group compared to control group. Using a bioinformatics method, 135 protein-coding genes were predicted as the targets of significant differentially expressed miRNAs. 12Strong paleoearthquakes along the Talas-Fergana Fault,Kyrgyzstan显示文摘The Talas-Fergana Fault,the largest strike-slip structure in Central Asia,forms an obliquely oriented boundary between the northeastern and southwestern parts of the Tianshan mountain belt. The fault underwent active right-lateral strike-slip during the Paleozoic,with right-lateral movements being rejuvenated in the Late Cenozoic. Tectonic movements along the intracontinental strike-slip faults contribute to absorb part of the regional crustal shortening linked to the India-Eurasia collision; knowledge of strike-slip motions along the Talas-Fergana Fault are necessary for a complete assessment of the active deformation of the Tianshan orogen. To improve our understanding of the intracontinental deformation of the Tianshan mountain belt and the occurrence of strong earthquakes along the whole length of the Talas-Fergana Fault,we identify features of relief arising during strong paleoearthquakes along the Talas-Fergana Fault,fault segmentation,the length of seismogenic ruptures,and the energy and age of ancient catastrophes. We show that during neotectonic time the fault developed as a dextral strike-slip fault,with possible dextral displacements spreading to secondary fault planes north of the main fault trace. We determine rates of Holocene and Late Pleistocene dextral movements,and our radiocarbon dating indicates tens of strong earthquakes occurring along the fault zone during and interval of 15800years. The reoccurrence of strong earthquakes along the Talas-Fergana Fault zone during the second half of the Holocene is about 300 years. The next strong earthquake along the fault will most probably occur along its southeastern chain during the next several decades. 13Early diagnosis and therapeutic strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma:From bench to bedside显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide.The prognosis of patients with HCC remains poor largely due to the late diagnosis and lack of effective treatments.Despite being widely used,alpha-fetoprotein serology and ultrasonography have limited diagnostic performance for early-stage HCC.The emergence of omics strategies has contributed to significant advances in the development of non-invasive biomarkers for the early diagnosis of HCC including proteins,metabolites,circulating tumor deoxyribonucleic acid,and circulating non-coding ribonucleic acid.Early diagnosis is beneficial to patients as it increases the proportion who can be treated with curative treatment,thus prolonging survival outcomes.Currently,multiple clinical trials involving locoregional,systemic therapies,and combinations of these modalities are changing therapeutic strategies for different stage HCC.Success in several preclinical trials that involve immunotherapeutic innovations has created the potential to complement and enforce other treatment strategies in the future.This review summarizes the most recent advances in noninvasive early molecular detection,current therapy strategies,and potential immunotherapeutic innovations of HCC.Ming-Cheng Guan Ming-Da Wang Si-Yu Liu Wei Ouyang Lei Liang Timothy M Pawlik Qiu-Ran Xu Dong-Sheng Huang Feng Shen Hong Zhu Tian Yang 2021World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2021,13,4:2
