Petrogenesis and dating of the Kangding complex,Sichuan Province显示文摘An analysis of major and trace element geochemistry and SHRIMP U-Pb zircon dating of mafic, intermediate, and felsic rocks from the Mianning metamorphic complex of Si- chuan Province was conducted. One of our conclusions is that a majority of the zircons crystal- lized between 721 and 773 Ma in a magmatic regime. The complexes contain early to late Pa- leo-proterozoic relict zircons from ancient continental crust. The oldest age, 2468 Ma, may rep- resent the basement of the Yangtze block. Overgrowth zircon rims and palingenetic zircons have been observed and dated, and are believed to have formed after crystallization, during Paleozoic and Mesozoic metamorphic-anatexis. We also conclude that depletion of Nb, Ta, HREE, in a spider-diagram normalized to primitive mantle and calc-alkaline association, implies that they formed in island-arc or under-plating settings. | CHEN Yuelong 1 , LUO Zhaohua 1 , ZHAO Junxiang, LI Zhihong, ZHANG Hongfei & SONG Biao 3 1. Cells and supernatant were harvested at various phases during the culturing periods The presence of HCV RNA, the expression of HCV antigens in cells and/or supernatant were examined by RT-PCR, in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry respectively.``RESULTS The intracellular HCV RNA was first detected on d 2 after infection and then could be intermittently detected in both cells and supernatant over a period of at least three months. The expression of HCV NS3, CP10antigens could be observed in cells. The fresh cells could be infected by supematant from cultured infected cells and the transmission of viral genome from HCV-infected 7721 cells to PBMCs was also observed.``CONCLUSION The hepatoma line 7721 is not only susceptible to HCV but also supports its long-term replication in vitro. | Zhi-Qiang Song~1 Fei Hao~1 Feng Min~2 Qiao-Yu Ma~2 Guo-Dong Liu~2 Department of Dermatology~1Department of Infectious Diseases~2,Southwest Hospital,Third Military Medical University,Chongqing 400038,China | 2001 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2001,7,5: | 26
A statistical model for porous structure of rocks显示文摘The geometric features and the distribution properties of pores in rocks were in- vestigated by means of CT scanning tests of sandstones. The centroidal coordi- nates of pores, the statistic characterristics of pore distance, quantity, size and their probability density functions were formulated in this paper. The Monte Carlo method and the random number generating algorithm were employed to generate two series of random numbers with the desired statistic characteristics and prob- ability density functions upon which the random distribution of pore position, dis- tance and quantity were determined. A three-dimensional porous structural model of sandstone was constructed based on the FLAC3D program and the information of the pore position and distribution that the series of random numbers defined. On the basis of modelling, the Brazil split tests of rock discs were carried out to ex- amine the stress distribution, the pattern of element failure and the inosculation of failed elements. The simulation indicated that the proposed model was consistent with the realistic porous structure of rock in terms of their statistic properties of pores and geometric similarity. The built-up model disclosed the influence of pores on the stress distribution, failure mode of material elements and the inosculation of failed elements. | JU Yang1,2, YANG YongMing1, SONG ZhenDuo3 & XU WenJing4 1 State Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safe Mining, China University of Mining & Technology, Beijing 100083, China 2 Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, The University of Calgary, 2500 University Drive NW Calgary, AB T2N 1N4, Canada 3 China National Coal Mining Equipment Co. | 4 | Dimensional synthesis of a 3-DOF parallel manipulator based on dimensionally homogeneous Jacobian matrix显示文摘A study of dimensional synthesis of a 3-DOF parallel manipulator with coupling of translation and rotation is carried out.The architecture of the manipulator is composed of a moving platform attached to a fixed base through three identical PRS(prismatic-revolute-spherical) serial limbs, whose unique topology leads to the physical unit inconsistency of the conventional Jacobian matrix and the emergence of the parasitic motion. Then this paper introduces a kinetostatic performance index of the manipulator based on the condition of a dimensionally homogeneous Jacobian matrix, later, the workspace of the aforementioned manipulator is searched and the influence of the crucial design variables on the workspace is analyzed. Finally,a dimensional synthesis method of the manipulator is proposed, which may be regarded as a nonlinear programming problem with subject to the parasitic motion and other several engineering constraints. | SUN Tao1,SONG YiMin1,LI YongGang2 & LIU LinShan1 1 School of Mechanical Engineering,Tianjin University,Tianjin 300072,China 2 School of Mechanical Engineering,Tianjin University of Technology and Education,Tianjin 300222,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,1: | 17
Field measurement and analysis of turbulence coherence for Typhoon Nuri at Macao Friendship Bridge显示文摘For the purpose of investigating the turbulent and spatial coherent characteristics of strong wind during typhoon landing period, two 3-dimensional ultrasonic anemometer stations were set up 30 m horizontally apart on the Macao Friendship Bridge to caputure the turbulent wind velocities of Typhoon Nuri. Based on the reliable and representative field measured data, the mean wind speed and direction, turbulence intensity, turbulence integral scale, turbulence power spectra, spatial correlation coefficient and coherence function were statistically evaluated. The field measurement analysis have presented the following results: 1) Two anemometer stations provided consistent results. The mean wind speed variation in time domain presented typical M-shape curves. The strong wind (10-minute mean wind speed higher than 8th grade in Beaufort wind scale) direction changed in a big range up to 122-degrees-angle,indicating the field measurements scoped over the typhoon landing period. 2) The ratio of the longitudinal, lateral and vertical turbulence intensities of the strong wind in the typhoon eye wall region was 1:0.96:0.36. Compared with the code defined ratio 1:0.88:0.5,the lateral component was larger and the vertical component was smaller. 3) The value of integral scale increased when the eye wall of Typhoon Nuri passed over the field measurement site. Before the center of Typhoon Nuri arrived, the integral scale of the strong typhoon wind was about twice compared with that for the non-typhoon wind. 4) The spatial correlation of the turbulent wind, coherence function curve and the decay factor had significant differences at different times during the typhoon process. In the eye wall of the typhoon, the horizontal spatial correlation was relatively strong and horizontally spatial correlation spectrum decayed slower with frequency increase. The minimum regressed coefficient C in coherence function model was 4.67,which is lower than the code defined low limit. The maximum decay factor was 27.75 which is larger than the code defined upper bound. The strong wind characteristic parameters of Typhoon Nuri mentioned above partly represented the turbulent and spatial coherent characteristic during strong typhoon wind period. | SONG LiLi1, PANG JiaBin2, JIANG ChengLin3, HUANG HaoHui3 & QIN Peng3 1 Guangzhou Institute of Tropical and Marine Meteorology, CMA, Guangzhou 510080, China 2 Tongji University, Shanghai 200092, China 3 Guangdong Climate Centre, Guangzhou 510080, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,10: | 15
Enhancing aerodynamic performances of a high-turning compressor cascade via boundary layer suction显示文摘Experimental investigation was carried out to study the effect of suction positions and suction flow rates on the aerodynamic performance of a compressor cascade with a large camber angle. The ink-trace flow visualization was conducted and the flow fields of the cascade were also measured. Three types of boundary layer suction configurations are compared,i.e. the suction surface suction, the endwall suction and the compound suction. Experimental results show that the large amount of suction flow rate gains more losses reduction than the small amount for a certain proper suction configuration, but the speed of loss decline slows down as the suction flow rate goes on increasing. Boundary layer suction on the suction surface obviously enhances the ability of the boundary layer around the midspan to withstand the negative pressure gradient of the flow passage. The range of the suction surface corner is also decreased. If the suction slot locates in the corner separation region where severe separation has happened, the flow separation will be terminated at the slot and redevelop downstream. And boundary layer suction on the endwall mainly influences the endwall corner region in remarkably delaying, lessening and reorganizing the corner separation. While the whole flow field is remarkably improved at both midspan and the corner region in the compound suction schemes. At higher suction flow rates, the aerodynamic performance of the compressor cascade is better than that with boundary layer suction simply on the suction surface or on the endwall. When the suction flow rate is 1.5% of the inlet mass flow, the compound suction scheme achieves a maximum loss reduction of 17% compared with the cascade without boundary layer suction. | GUO Shuang1, CHEN ShaoWen1, LU HuaWei2, SONG YanPing1 & CHEN Fu1 1 School of Energy Science and Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin 150001, China 2 Marine Engineering College, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian 116026, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,10: | 14

Miocene Bahean stratigraphy in the Longzhong Basin, northern central China and its implications in environmental change显示文摘Fossil mammal-riched Neogene strata are widely distributed in the southeast corner of the huge Longzhong Basin at Tianshui, Gansu Province, northern central China. Hipparion weihoense, a typical member of late Middle Miocene Bahean stage, was recently excavated at Yaodian along a well-exposed outcrop. Owing to the importance of the Bahean stage in the mammalian evolution and its potential for environmental change, we suggested a name of Yaodian Formation for the stratigra- phy, which is correlated to the Bahe Formation at Lantian, Shaanxi. High resolution paleomagnetic dating of the section shows that the Yaodian Formation covers the period between 11.67 Ma and 7.43 Ma, with the site bearing Hipparion weihoense being estimated at about 10.54―10.30 Ma, providing first magnetostratigraphic chronology for the Bahean Stage. The Yaodian Formation consists of fluvial channel deposits (11.67―10.40 Ma) at the bottom, floodplain deposits in the middle (10.40―9.23 Ma) and shallow lake sediments at the top (9.23―7.43 Ma). This upward fining sequence suggests that the relief in nearby mountain ranges such as West Qinling to the south and Huajia Ling to the north was greatly reduced after long-term denudation, fluvial transport capacity was low, and finally the drainage system was disintegrated, replaced with broad-shallow lakes in which only fine sediments like mud and marlite were deposited, indicating an old stage of development of a planation surface. A remarkable shift in ecology and climatic environment was found at 7.4―7.7 Ma when paleoclimate changed from early warm humid to late dry as indicated by sedimentary facies changed from early shallow lake sequence to late eolian red clays and a former coniferous-deciduous mixed forest was replaced by grassland, leading to great growth of Hipparion Fauna of Baodean stage in the region. Therefore, it is estimated that the present high relief of Qinling and drainage pattern did not come into being until Late Pliocene in response to intensive neotectonism and climate change. | LI Jijun1,2, ZHANG Jun1, SONG Chunhui1, ZHAO Zhijun2, ZHANG Yong1, WANG Xiuxi 1, ZHANG Jianming1 & CUI Qiaoyu1 1. | 9 | Fracture characteristics of concrete subjected to impact loading显示文摘This paper takes concrete as a four-phase composite made of the intact matrix and three mutually perpendicular groups of penny-shaped micro-cracks. The intact matrix is assumed to be elastic, homogeneous and isotropic, and the micro-cracks are penny-shaped. Combined with the failure mechanism of concrete subjected to impact loading,a dynamic constitutive model for concrete is developed based on Mori-Tanaka's average stress concept and Eshelby's equivalent inclusion theory. Experimental results show that concrete is rate-dependent. The model predictions are in good agreement with the experimental results. The model may be used to simulate the mechanical behavior of concrete under impact loadings. | LIU HaiFeng1,2,LIU HaiYan3 & SONG WeiDong1 1 State Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Technology,Beijing Institute of Technology,Beijing 100081,China 2 School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering,Ningxia University,Yinchuan 750021,China 3 School of Science,Beijing Institute of Technology,Beijing 100081,China | 2010 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,2: | 12

Preliminary study on interaction between plant frictional root and rock-soil mass显示文摘The interaction between lateral root system of woody plant and soil mass is similar to the one between shrub, herbage and soil mass, and has the effect of frictional reinforcement on slope soil. It plays an important role in reinforcing soil strength in shallow slope. Therefore, slope soil mass can be considered as a composite of soil and plant roots and the soil strength and stability of shallow slope soil mass are improved. However, current researches still remain on the level of qualitatively analyzing the relation between root and soil mass. In this paper, some exploratory researches on quantitative analysis of the interaction mechanism between root and soil mass are conducted. With the study of interaction between herbage root system (lateral root system of woody plants) and soil mass, the mechanical model of interaction between frictional root and soil mass is established. The accuracy of the model is verified by field experiments of Pinus Yunnanensis. The mechanical model provides a crucial theoretical guidance to quantitatively analyzing the interaction between plant root and soil mass; it also has certain values in application. | YAN ZhiXin1’2, SONG Yun3, JIANG Ping1’2 & WANG HouYu4 1 Key Laboratory of Mechanics on Disaster and Environment in Western China (Lanzhou University), Ministry of Education, Lanzhou 730000, China 2 School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730000, China 3 College of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, Central South University of Forestry and Technology, Changsha 410004, China 4 Air Force Engineering Design & Research Bureau, Beijing 100077, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,7: | 9
Friction Characteristics of Mechanical Seals with Laser-textured Seal Faces显示文摘Heat generated by friction between faces of mechanica l seals is a major factor that causes deterioration of the seals and shortens th eir service life. Excessive temperature rise can greatly alter the seal geometry and vaporize the sealing fluid, resulting in friction of boundary lubrication. These effects on face seals usually lead to excessive leakage and ultimately ren der the seal inoperable. In order to maintain the reliability of seals, high fri ction and unwanted wear must be avoided. Using the laser-texturing process to produce regular micro-surface structures is a fast and convenient technique compared to some more conventional etching or erosion technique currently used by the seal industry for various grooved face seals. Indeed, by using a pulse laser, better control is obtained on the geometr y, size and pore ratio of seal rings made of metallic or ceramic materials. In t his study, seal rings are made of silicon carbide and carbon. Mating faces of th e rings are polished and only silicon carbide rings are laser-textured. The las er texturing can be controlled to produce spherical pores at selected diameters, depths and pore ratio. The textured rings are then super-polished to remove th e bulges formed on the pores rims. After this process the average pore diameter, pore depth and pore ratio reach the predetermined parameter. Some untextured ri ngs are also treated to the same surface roughness and served as a reference for comparison of the textured rings. A special test rig is used to simulate a mech anical seal system and to measure the effect of the laser texturing on friction and seal performance. Tests are performed at various rotational speeds and vario us axial loads. Compared with the conventional mechanical seals, temperature rise, friction torq ue and friction coefficient of mechanical seals with laser-textured seal faces are much lower. These preliminary results show the potential of improving fricti on performance and increasing seal life with laser-textured seal faces. | YU Xin-qi 1,2, HE Song 1, CAI Ren-ling 1 (1. | 17 | Maize ZmFDR3 localized in chloroplasts is involved in iron transport显示文摘Iron is an essential nutrient for plant metabolism such that Fe-limited plants display chlorosis and suffer from reduced photosynthetic efficiency. Differential display previously identified genes whose expression was elevated in Fe-deficient maize roots. Here,we describe the functional characterization of one of the genes identified in the screen,ZmFDR3 (Zea maize Fe-deficiency-related). Heterologous functional complementation assays using a yeast iron uptake mutant showed that ZmFDR3 functions in iron transport. ZmFDR3 contains a domain found in FliN-proteins of the type III secretion system and is predicted to localize to the thylakoid of plastids. Fluorescence immunocytochemistry showed that ZmFDR3 is localized in the plastids of roots, stems and leaves, with high expression found in guard cell chloroplasts. Transgenic tobacco expressing a 35S-ZmFDR3 construct contains elevated iron content, displays well arranged thylakoid membranes and has photosynthetic indices that are higher than those of the wild type. Together, these results suggest that ZmFDR3 functions in chloroplast iron transport. | HAN JianHui1,SONG XiuFang1,LI Peng1,YANG HuiJun2 & YIN LiPing1 1 College of Life Science,Capital Normal University,Beijing 100048,China 2 Department of Biological Sciences,University of South Carolina,Columbia,SC 29208,USA | 2009 | Science China(Life Sciences)2009,52,9: | 7

Study of control effects of vortex generators on a supercritical wing显示文摘Flows around vortex generators(VGs),which serve as one of the important flow control methods, are investigated by solving Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)equations.The influences on the main flow of VGs are intended to explore.Firstly, the flow around a single VG on a flat plane is computed to validate the schemes and to acquire basic knowledge of this kind of flow.Secondly, transonic flow past a standard model, named by ONERA-M6 wing,is predicted to investigate the flow features of shockwave/boundary-layer interactions(SWBLI).Thirdly, the effects of a row of VGs mounted about 25%local chord on a supercritical wing are analyzed in transonic condition with strong SWBLI.Lastly,VGs are mounted more upwind(about 3.5%local chord)to explore the effects at low speed and high incidence condition. The numerical results show that seven VGs can effectively suppress the separations behind the strong SWBLI and decrease spanwise flow and wing-tip vortex in transonic condition.VGs also can decrease the large scope of separation over the wing at low speed with high angle of attack. | HUANG JingBo 1 ,XIAO ZhiXiang 1 ,FU Song 1 &ZHANG Miao 2 1 School of Aerospace Engineering,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China 2 Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute of COMAC,Shanghai 200232,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,8: | 5
