| 1 | Gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection:From animal model to patient显示文摘AIM:To assess whether the use of porcine models is useful for learning endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD),thus contributing to its subsequent application in human patients.METHODS:This study/learning process was carried out in 3 phases:PhaseⅠ:Ex vivo animal;PhaseⅡ:In vivo animal;PhaseⅢ:Humans.One endoscopist performed 30 gastric ESDs in porcine models,and later 5gastric ESDs in 5 patients.The ESD was done following the method practiced at the National Cancer Center in Tokyo,Japan.Technical aspects,size,time and speed of ESD,as well as complications were registered.In patients,their clinical,endoscopic and histologic evolution was additionally added.RESULTS:Thirty en bloc ESDs were carried out in animal models.The mean±SD size of the pieces was of28.4±1.2 mm,and the time of ESD was 41.7±2.4min.The time of ESD in the first 15 procedures was 43.0±3.0 min whereas in the next 15 procedures,the time was 40.3±3.9 min,P=0.588.The speed in the first 15ESDs was 1.25±0.11 cm2/min vs 2.12±0.36 cm2/min in the remaining 15,P=0.028.There were no complications.In patients,5 lesions were resected en bloc.The size of the pieces was 25.2±5.1 mm and the time was85.0±25.6 min.Endoscopic and histological controls did not show evidence of residual neoplastic tissue.CONCLUSION:A sequential ESD training program of a unique endoscopist,based on the practice in porcine models,contributed to learning ESD for its subsequent application in humans,yielding good results in efficacy and safety. | Nicolás González Adolfo Parra-Blanco Miguel Villa-Gómez Alejandra Gamba Andrés Taullard Anaulina Silveira Alberto Sanguinetti Carolina Olano Henry Cohen | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,45: | 6 |

| 3 | rate of adverse events of gastroduodenal snare polypectomy for non-flat polyp is low: A prospective and multicenter study显示文摘AIM To evaluate the rate of adverse events(AEs) during consecutive gastric and duodenal polypectomies in several Spanish centers. METHODS Polypectomies of protruded gastric or duodenal polyps ≥ 5 mm using hot snare were prospectively included. Prophylactic measures of hemorrhage were allowed in predefined cases. AEs were defined and graded according to the lexicon recommended by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Patients were followed for 48 h, one week and 1 mo after theprocedure. RESULTS308 patients were included and a single polypectomy was performed in 205. Only 36(11.7%) were on prior anticoagulant therapy. Mean polyp size was 15 ± 8.9 mm(5-60) and in 294 cases(95.4%) were located in the stomach. Hemorrhage prophylaxis was performed in 219(71.1%) patients. Nine patients presented AEs(2.9%), and 6 of them were bleeding(n = 6, 1.9%)(in 5 out of 6 AE, different types of endoscopic treatment were performed). Other 24 hemorrhagic episodes could be managed without any change in the outcome of the endoscopy and, consequently, were considered incidents. | 4 | Using fuzzy-AHP and parametric technique to assess soil fertility status in Northeast of Iran显示文摘A good understanding of the levels and distribution patterns of soil properties and/or quality indicators is a prerequisite for developing sustainable agricultural land management programs. Traditional assessments of these parameters of soil fertility status are somewhat costly, in both economics and time aspects. Different modelling techniques have been proposed as a useful tool for determination of soil quality indicators and development of soil fertility maps, but to what extent these results are reliable remains under-quantified in many regions worldwide. To address this uncertainty, Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process(Fuzzy-AHP) and Parametric analyses were conducted to ascertain the soil fertility status of a semiarid region in the Northeast of Iran for some selected crops: alfalfa, corn silage, potato, sugar beet, tomato and wheat. The Fuzzy-AHP and Parametric techniques using soil suitability indices were estimated for each crop and each soil delineation was achieved by Ordinary Kriging. The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS) was used as a compensatory method to allow tradeoffs among the selected criteria. Our results demonstrated that from the Fuzzy-AHP analysis, the soil fertility indices ranged from moderate to high for production of alfalfa;from low to high for production of corn silage and sugar beet;moderate to high for production of potato and tomato;and from low to moderate for production of wheat. However, the parametric analysis showed soil fertility classes ranging from very low to high for production of all the selected crops. High correlations were also observed between soil fertility indices predicted by both models. Similarly, the capacities of both models to predict soil fertility status for production of the selected crops were also highly correlated. The preference for the cultivation of the selected crops based on the Fuzzy-AHP analysis was sugar beet > corn silage > wheat > alfalfa > tomato > potato. On the other hand, using Parametric techniques, the crops preferences for cultivation ranked as corn silage > wheat > alfalfa > sugar beet > tomato > potato. | 9 | Labeling of influenza viruses with synthetic fluorescent and biotin-labeled lipids显示文摘Direct labeling of virus particles is a powerful tool for the visualization of virus–cell interaction events. However, this technique involves the chemical modification of viral proteins that affects viral biological properties. Here we describe an alternative approach of influenza virus labeling that utilizes Function-Spacer-Lipid(FSL) constructs that can be gently inserted into the virus membrane. We assessed whether labeling with fluorescent(fluo-Ad-DOPE) or biotin-labeled(biot-CMG2-DOPE) probes has any deleterious effect on influenza virus hemagglutinin(HA) receptor specificity, neuraminidase(NA) activity, or replicative ability in vitro. Our data clearly show that neither construct significantly affected influenza virus infectivity or viral affinity to sialyl receptors. Neither construct influenced the NA activities of the influenza viruses tested, except the A/Puerto Rico/8/34(H1N1) strain.
