1DEK43 is a P-type pentatricopeptide repeat(PPR)protein responsible for the Cis-splicing of nad4 in maize mitochondria显示文摘Mitochondria, the main energy transducers in plant cells, require the proper assembly of respiratory chain complexes Ⅰ–Ⅴ for their function. The NADH dehydrogenase4(nad4) gene encodes mitochondrial respiratory chain complex Ⅰ subunit Ⅳ, but the mechanism underlying nad4 transcript splicing is unclear. Here, we report that the P-type pentatricopeptide repeat(PPR) protein DEFECTIVE KERNEL 43(DEK43) is responsible for cis-splicing of the nad4 transcript in maize. We demonstrate that DEK43 localizes to both the nucleus and mitochondria. The mutation of Dek43 resulted in embryo-lethal and light-colored defective kernels. Among the 22 mitochondrial group Ⅱ introns, the splicing efficiency of nad4 introns 1 and 3 was reduced by up to 50% compared to the wild type. The levels of complex Ⅰ and supercomplex Ⅰ+Ⅲ2 were also reduced in dek43. Furthermore, in-gel NADH dehydrogenase assays indicated that the activities of these complexes were significantly reduced in dek43. Further, the mitochondrial ultrastructure was altered in the mutant. 2Effect of Chain Configuration on Thermal Conductivity of Polyethylene-A Molecular Dynamic Simulation Study显示文摘Stretched polyethylene(PE)fibers are found to have super high thermal conductivity,while the bulk of polyethylene is usually thermal insulating even for those with high crystalline degree.A molecular dynamic simulation is deliberately carried out to examine the relationship between chain configuration and thermal conductivity of polyethylene.In this simulation study,independent and interacting PE chains being stretched are compared with the aim to find out the effect of stretching on thermal conductivity of PE.Various crystallization conditions for PE bulk are considered.It is found that heat transports predominately along the covalent chain rather than across chains in PE crystals.Our simulation study helps to understand experimental findings on thermal conductivity of PE at different states.W e also predict that amorphous PE may be super thermally conductive if chains are strictly stretched along heat flux.Xiang Zhang Yu Wang Ru Xi Bin Wu Peng Chen Jia Sheng Qian Hao-Jun Liang 2020Chinese Journal of Polymer Science2020,38,12:6
3Microstructural and textural evolutions in multilayered Ti/Cu composites processed by accumulative roll bonding显示文摘Ti/Cu multilayered composites were fabricated via accumulative roll bonding(ARB). During codeformation of the constituent metals, the hard Ti layers necked preferentially and then fragmented with the development of shear bands. Transmission electron microscopy showed that with increasing ARB cycles, grains in Ti were significantly refined even though dynamic recrystallization has occurred. For Cu the significant grain refinement was only found within the shear banded region when the composite was processed after five ARB cycles. Due to the diffusion of Cu atoms into Ti at the heterophase interfaces, amorphization with a width less than 10 nm was identified even in the composite processed by one cycle. At higher ARB cycles, the width of amorphous region increased and intermetallic compounds CuTi appeared from the region. The lattice defects introduced at the heterophase interfaces under roll bonding was responsible for the formation of the nano-scaled compounds. X-ray diffraction showed that an abnormal {1120} fiber texture was developed in Ti layers, while significant brass-type textures were developed in Cu layers. Some orientations along the {1120} fiber favored the prismatic < a> slip for Ti.Tensile tests revealed the elevated strength without a substantial sacrifice of ductility in the composites during ARB. 5Optimal Waist Circumference Cut-off values for Identifying Metabolic Risk Factors in Middle-aged and Elderly Subjects in Shandong Province of China显示文摘Objective To study the optimal waist circumference(WC) cut-off values for identifying metabolic risk factors in middle-aged and elderly subjects in Shandong Province of China. Methods A total of 2 873 men and 5 559 women were included in this cross-sectional study. Metabolic syndrome(MetS) was diagnosed according to the definition of Chinese Diabetes Society in 2004. The relation between WC and MetS was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The optimal WC cut-off values were identified using the area under the ROC curve and the different diagnostic criteria for central obesity were compared. Results The WC was the risk factor for MetS independent of BMI, blood glucose, blood lipid, and blood pressure. The optimal WC cut-off value was 83.8 cm and 91.1 cm for identifying MetS in women and men, respectively. Compared with 80 cm and 85 cm for women and men, 85 cm and 90 cm had a higher Youden index for identifying all metabolic risk factors and MetS in women and men. 8Excited response of granular ores in vibrating field显示文摘The dynamical theory was utilized to probe into the law of the excited response of granular ores generated by the exciting action of exciter and the influence of wave propagation in vibrating field. The exciter with double axes was presented as an example, and the principle of exciter and its mathematical expression of the excitation force were given. The granular ores have viscidity and damping speciality, on the basis of which the motion equation of excited response of ores was established and the approximate expression of mode displacement by harmonic excitation and the steady effect solution of coordinate response were deduced. Utilizing the step by step integration method, the recursion relation matrix of displacement, velocity and acceleration of the excited response of ores were obtained, and the computational flow chart and a computational example were given. 14Diferences and similarities of high-resolution computed tomography features between pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients显示文摘Background:Accurately diferentiating pneumocystis from cytomegalovirus pneumonia is crucial for correct therapy selection in AIDS patients.Hence,the goal of this study was to compare the computerized tomography(CT)features of pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients and identify clinical hallmarks to accurately distinguish these two pathologies.Methods:A total of 112 AIDS patients(78 with pneumocystis pneumonia and 34 cytomegalovirus pneumonia)at Beijing Ditan Hospital from January 2017 to May 2019 were included in this study.Two experienced chest radiologists retrospectively reviewed CT images for 17 features including ground-glass opacity,consolidation,nodules,and halo sign.Binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify the signifcant parameters that distinguished pneumocystis pneumonia from cytomegalovirus pneumonia.Correlations were analyzed by Pearson or Spearman correlation analyses.Result were considered signifcant if P<0.05.Results:The presence of consolidation,halo signs,and nodules(all P<0.05)were signifcantly more frequent in patients with cytomegalovirus pneumonia than in those with pneumocystis pneumonia.Small nodules(32.5%in cytomegalovirus pneumonia,6.41%in pneumocystis pneumonia,P<0.001)without perilymphatic distribution were particularly common in patients with cytomegalovirus pneumonia.Large nodules were not found in any of patients with cytomegalovirus pneumonia.The presence of ground-glass opacity,reticulation,and bronchial wall thickening(all P>0.05)were common in both groups.Conclusions:Analysis of consolidation,nodules,and halo signs may contribute to the diferential diagnosis of pneumocystis pneumonia or cytomegalovirus pneumonia.However,some CT features considered typical in one or other diseases appear with similar frequency in both cohorts of AIDS patients.CT features are potentially useful for the diferential diagnosis of pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients.Chun‑Jing Du Jing‑Yuan Liu Hui Chen Shuo Yan Lin Pu Hao‑Feng Xiong Pan Xiang Chuan‑Sheng Li Ming Zhang Ru‑Ming Xie Bu‑Dong Chen Ang Li 2020Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,5:1

19Leakage detection of oil tank using terahertz spectroscopy显示文摘The necessity for safety in oil-gas storage and transportation has led to increasing technical requirements for on-line monitoring of damaged pores and oil leakage from tanks. In this study, the severity of damage of the oil tank at the micron level was detected by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy(THz-TDS), which is of great significance for the early detection and prevention of oil leakage. The THz amplitude(EP) was related to the severity of damaged according to the THz-TDS measurement of oil tanks with various degrees of damage, including intact, partially damaged, completely damaged, and seriously damaged points.Absorption and scattering effects co-occurred when the THz wave penetrated the tanks, with the collective tendencies being used to expressly monitor oil leakage from tanks. When the oil tank was damaged to form micron-level pores and the crude oil had not overflowed, the pore size was close to THz wavelength and the Mie scattering effect was obvious. After further destruction of the pores, the crude oil gradually spilled over and the scattering effect was gradually transformed from Mie scattering to Rayleigh scattering. In addition, the polar molecules in crude oil have strong resonance under the irradiation of THz wave, and the THz wave has strong attenuation. Eventually, surface tension of the oil flattens the surface of the tank, the scattering effect is gradually suppressed and replaced by the absorption effect. Absorption and scattering caused by THz waves passing through tanks coexist and have competing relationships. The change rule of EPcan successfully prove the phenomenon and can be considered as an important alternative for application to predict the degree of tank damage.
