1Evaluation of Weather Research and Forecasting Model Parameterizations under Sea-Breeze Conditions in a North Sea Coastal Environment显示文摘Three atmospheric boundary layer(ABL) schemes and two land surface models that are used in the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) model, version 3.4.1, were evaluated with numerical simulations by using data from the north coast of France(Dunkerque). The ABL schemes YSU(Yonsei University),ACM2(Asymmetric Convective Model version 2), and MYJ(Mellor–Yamada–Janjic) were combined with two land surface models, Noah and RUC(Rapid Update Cycle), in order to determine the performances under sea-breeze conditions. Particular attention is given in the determination of the thermal internal boundary layer(TIBL), which is very important in air pollution scenarios. The other physics parameterizations used in the model were consistent for all simulations. The predictions of the sea-breeze dynamics output from the WRF model were compared with observations taken from sonic detection and ranging, light detection and ranging systems and a meteorological surface station to verify that the model had reasonable accuracy in predicting the behavior of local circulations. The temporal comparisons of the vertical and horizontal wind speeds and wind directions predicted by the WRF model showed that all runs detected the passage of the sea-breeze front. However, except for the combination of MYJ and Noah, all runs had a time delay compared with the frontal passage measured by the instruments. The proposed study shows that the synoptic wind attenuated the intensity and penetration of the sea breeze. This provided changes in the vertical mixing in a short period of time and on soil temperature that could not be detected by the WRF model simulations with the computational grid used. 4Light intensity and hydrogel soil amendment differentially affect growth and photosynthesis of successional tree species显示文摘Global climate changes have increased temperatures,radiation indexes,and consequently,irregularities in rainfall in mainly tropical countries,considerably hindering plant establishment in recovering degraded areas.The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth and physiological characteristics of one species of each successional group:pioneer,secondary,and climax when subjected to different light intensities and hydrogel as a soil conditioner during rainy and dry periods.The experiment was conducted in the ecotone between Brazil’s two largest biomes,the Cerrado and the Amazon in the State of Maranh?o.The parameters consisted of three species:Guazuma ulmifolia Lam.(pioneer),Astronium fraxinifolium Schott(secondary),and Cariniana rubra Gardner ex Miers(climax).There were two light intensities:70%and 100%,and two planting conditions:with and without soil conditioner(hydrogel).Gas exchanges were higher during the rainy season;the pioneer and secondary species had greater heights and photosynthetic rates in the dry period;the climax species had the lowest gas exchange and lowest recovery as rainfall resumed.The pioneer and secondary species showed higher physiological plasticity,denoting better adaption to environments with high irradiance.Hydrogel improved the photosynthetic performance of these species in the dry season and in areas with 100%sunlight.Léo Vieira Leonel Fabrício de Oliveira Reis Fábio Afonso Mazzei Moura de Assis Figueiredo Tiago Massi Ferraz Sebastiao de Oliveira Maia Júnior Patrick Costa Silva Jailma Ribeiro de Andrade 2023Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,1:0
5Beneficial effects of Pleurotus albidus supplementation on body weight and food intake in healthy C57BL/6 mice显示文摘The current investigation intended to check the influence of Pleurotus albidus extract supplementation on body weight,food intake,glycemia,serum lipids,and oxidative stress parameters.Healthy male C57BL/6 mice were partitioned into two experimental groups:control and P.albidus.The supplementation was performed by gavage(500 mg/kg)for 20 uninterrupted days.During this period,all animals received water and food ad libitum and they had their food ingestion and body weight monitored weekly.After,mice underwent an insulin sensitivity test,followed by euthanasia and biochemical analyses.P.albidus supplementation decreased the body weight and food intake,but it did not change other parameters in healthy mice.This work showed for the first time that the P.albidus extract supplementation presents a promising potential on body weight and food intake control.Paola Quevedo da Costa Mariana Parron Paim Eduardo Echer dos Reis Patrick Tirck Marli Camassola Paulo Cavalheiro Schenke 2021Journal of Future Foods2021,1,1:0
