1Gait analysis of patients with knee osteoarthritis before and after Chinese massage treatment显示文摘The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Chinese massage therapy in patients with knee osteoarthritis(OA) by measuring lower-limb gait parameters. We recruited 20 women with knee OA,who then underwent Chinese massage therapy three times per week for 2 weeks. The patients underwent gait evaluation using a six-camera infrared motion analysis system. They completed Western Ontario and Mc Master Universities Osteoarthritis Index questionnaires before and after treatment. We calculated the forward speed,step width,step length,total support time percentage,initial double support time percentage,and single support time percentage. We also measured the angles at the knee,hip,and ankle during the stance phase of walking. The results showed statistically significant mean differences in knee pain relief,alleviation of stiffness,and physical function enhancement after therapy(P < 0.05). The patients gained significantly faster gait speed,greater step width,and increased total support time percentage after the Chinese massage therapy(P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in the range of motion or initial contact angles of the knee,hip,or ankle during the stance phase of walking. We concluded that Chinese massage is a beneficial complementary treatment and an alternative therapy choice for patients with knee OA for short-term pain relief. 2Effects of Tai Ji Quan training on gait kinematics in older Chinese women with knee osteoarthritis: A randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background: Although Tai Ji Quan has been shown to relieve pain and improve functional mobility in people with knee osteoarthritis(OA), little is known about its potential benefits on gait characteristics among older Chinese women who have a high prevalence of both radiographic and symptomatic knee OA. This study aims to assess the efficacy of a tailored Tai Ji Quan intervention on gait kinematics for older Chinese women with knee OA.Methods: A randomized controlled trial involving 46 older women in Shanghai, China, with clinically diagnosed knee OA. Randomized(1:1)participants received either a 60 min Tai Ji Quan session(n = 23) 3 times weekly or a 60 min bi-weekly educational session(n = 23) for 24 weeks.Primary outcomes were changes in gait kinematic measures from baseline to 24 weeks. Secondary outcomes included changes in scores on the Western Ontario and Mc Master University Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC) and Short Physical Performance Battery(SPPB).Results: After 24 weeks the Tai Ji Quan group demonstrated better performance in gait velocity(mean difference, 8.40 cm/s, p = 0.01), step length(mean difference, 3.52 cm, p = 0.004), initial contact angle(mean difference, 2.19°, p = 0.01), and maximal angle(mean difference, 2.61°,p = 0.003) of flexed knees during stance phase compared to the control group. In addition, the Tai Ji Quan group showed significant improvement in WOMAC scores(p < 0.01)(mean difference,-4.22 points in pain, p = 0.002;-2.41 points in stiffness, p < 0.001;-11.04 points in physical function, p = 0.006) and SPPB scores(mean difference, 1.22 points, p < 0.001).Conclusion: Among older Chinese women with knee OA, a tailored Tai Ji Quan intervention improved gait outcomes. The intervention also improved overall function as indexed by the WOMAC and SPPB. 3Effect of Chinese massage(Tui Na) on isokinetic muscle strength in patients with knee osteoarthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Chinese massage(Tui Na) is one of the most popular Traditional Chinese Medicine remedies for knee osteoarthritis(OA). Several studies have subjectively evaluated the effect of Chinese massage on knee OA through self-assessment questionnaires; however, very few studies have objectively assessed the effect by measuring knee muscle strength. The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of Chinese massage in improving knee extensor and flexor muscle strength in patients with knee OA.METHODS: Thirty patients with knee OA received Chinese massage therapy three times per week for 2 weeks. Patients completed pre- and post-treatment Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) pain questionnaires, and pre- and post-treatment knee muscle strength was evaluated using the Biodex Multi-Joint System 3. Isokinetic muscle strength measurements were performed at 60 degrees/s and 180 degrees/s. The peak torque(PT), peak torque/body weight(PT/BW), total work(TW), average power(AP), hamstring/quadriceps(H/Q), and range of motion(ROM) values were recorded separately for flexors and extensors.RESULTS: Chinese massage therapy significantly improved knee pain as assessed by the VAS in patients with knee OA(P < 0.05). Post-treatment values were significantly greater than pre-treatment values in the extensor muscles for PT(right P =0.013, left P = 0.001), PT/BW(right P = 0.008, left P =0.001) and TW(right P = 0.036, left P = 0.004) at 60 degrees/s. The AP increased significantly after treatment in the flexor muscles in the right knee(P =0.009) and the extensor muscles in the left knee(P = 0.001). 4TPX2 knockdown suppressed hepatocellular carcinoma cell invasion via inactivating AKT signaling and inhibiting MMP2 and MMP9 expression显示文摘Objective: Targeting protein for Xenopus kinesin-like protein 2(TPX2) is a nuclear proliferation-related protein that plays a critical role in the formation of mitotic spindle. High expression of TPX2 has been observed in several types of tumors. However, the role of TPX2 in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) remains unclear. Our study aimed to investigate the effect of TPX2 on HCC cell invasion.Methods: The immortalized normal human liver cell line L02 and six HCC cell lines including SMMC-7721, BEL-7402, Huh-7, HepG2, Hep3 B and SKHep1 were subjected to qRT-PCR and western blot for TPX2 mRNA and protein, respectively. Furthermore, TPX2 small interfering RNA(siRNA) was used to knock down TPX2 expression in SMMC-7721 and HepG2 cells. Cell proliferation and invasion were determined by MTT and transwell assays. Otherwise, expression of p-AKT, MMP2 and MMP9 were evaluated by western blot in SMMC-7721 cells.Results: The expression of TPX2 in HCC cell lines was markedly higher than that in normal human liver cell line. TPX2 knockdown using a specific TPX2-siRNA reduced the number of invaded cells and inhibited cell proliferation in SMMC-7721 and HepG2 cells. 5Three-dimensional-printed individualized porous implants:A new“implant-bone”interface fusion concept for large bone defect treatment显示文摘Bone defect repairs are based on bone graft fusion or replacement.Current large bone defect treatments are inadequate and lack of reliable technology.Therefore,we aimed to investigate a simple technique using three-dimensional(3D)-printed individualized porous implants without any bone grafts,osteoinductive agents,or surface biofunctionalization to treat large bone defects,and systematically study its long-term therapeutic effects and osseointegration characteristics.Twenty-six patients with large bone defects caused by tumor,infection,or trauma received treatment with individualized porous implants;among them,three typical cases underwent a detailed study.Additionally,a large segmental femur defect sheep model was used to study the osseointegration characteristics.Immediate and long-term biomechanical stability was achieved,and the animal study revealed that the bone grew into the pores with gradual remodeling,resulting in a long-term mechanically stable implant-bone complex.Advantages of 3D-printed microporous implants for the repair of bone defects included 1)that the stabilization devices were immediately designed and constructed to achieve early postoperative mobility,and 2)that osseointegration between the host bone and implants was achieved without bone grafting.Our osseointegration method,in which the“implant-bone”interface fusion concept was used instead of“bone-bone”fusion,subverts the traditional idea of osseointegration.Teng Zhang Qingguang Wei Hua Zhou Zehao Jing Xiaoguang Liu Yufeng Zheng Hong Cai Feng Wei Liang Jiang Miao Yu Yan Cheng Daoyang Fan Wenhao Zhou Xinhong Lin Huijie Leng Jian Li Xinyu Li Caimei Wang Yun Tian Zhongjun Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,11:9
6Accumulation and Output of Heavy Metals by the Invasive Plant Spartina alterniflora in a Coastal Salt Marsh显示文摘Spartina alterniflora is a foreign introduced species and has far-reaching effects on salt marsh ecosystems, particularly on the biogeochemical cycle of heavy metals. To ascertain whether the invasive plant Spartina alterniflora Loisel is a source of metals in the environment, we determined the bimonthly concentrations of heavy metals, chromium(Cr), lead(Pb), copper(Cu), zinc(Zn),and manganese(Mn), in the roots, stems, and leaves of S. alterniflora from a typical semidiurnal tidal zone in the coastal area of northern Jiangsu Province, China. Based on the measurements, we calculated annual metal primary accumulation and output. To calculate the annual output of heavy metals from S. alterniflora, a new method that calculates the annual rate of biomass loss and decomposition was developed. The annual primary accumulation of Cr, Pb, Cu, Zn, and Mn was 19.08, 84.19, 63.74, 442.58, and774.66 mg m^(-2), respectively, and the annual output from S. alterniflora to the surrounding environment was 4.01, 18.09, 14.00, 97.11,and 164.28 mg m^(-2), respectively. Spartina alterniflora only provides temporary storage, and its absorption of heavy metals could be used to remediate contaminated soil and for phytomining. The heavy metals released by S. alterniflora to the environment cannot be ignored; thus, S. alterniflora should be considered a source of metal contamination. 7Possible mechanism underlying analgesic effect of Tuina in rats may involve piezo mechanosensitive channels within dorsal root ganglia axon显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the analgesic effect of Tuina mainly from mechanically sensitive ion channels in peripheral myelinated nerve fibers.METHODS: A total of 40 healthy and pathogen-free adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were used in the study [weight:(220.0 ± 1.4) g, Shanghai Slac Laboratory Animal Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China; license No. Shanghai ICP 05033115]. The rats were housed in cages with free access to water and food in a temperature-controlled room [(22 ± 1) ℃] and12-h/12-h light-dark cycle. Thirty-two rats were randomly divided into five groups: naive, sham, chronic compression of dorsal root ganglion(CCD), Tuina(7 d) and Tuina(21 d). CCD rat model was established via unilateral DRG compression by'L'liked steel bar. Chinese Tuina treatment was accepted once per day. Behavior monitoring of paw withdrawal threshold(PWT) and paw withdrawal latency(PWL) were tested. The expression of Piezo1 and Piezo2 in myelinated nerve fiber were analyzed by immunohistochemistry and Western-blotting.RESULTS: There was a high expression of Piezo2 and a low expression of Piezo1 in the naive and CCD groups. In contrast, the expression of Piezo2 was down regulated and Piezo1 was increased after a period of Tuina. 8Effect of manual acupuncture on bowel motility in normal kunming mouse显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of acupuncture on motility of jejunum and distal colon at different acupoints on normal Kunming mice.METHODS:The jejunal and colorectal motor activity of forty Kunming mice were recorded by the intra-intestinal capsule.The capsules contained with distilled water were placed into the cavities of jejunum and distal colon.The changes of bowel were compared with the background activity recorded before any stimulation.The chosen acupoints were as follows:Zusanli(ST 36) on the lower legs,Tianshu(ST 25) on the mid-lower abdomen.RESULTS:Manual acupuncture(MA) at Zusanli(ST36) significantly promoted the motility of jejunum and distal colon(manifested as increased change rate of average amplitude and increased change rate of mean area under the contractile curve) of normal Kunming mice(P < 0.01).MA atTianshu(ST25) significantly inhibited the motility of jejunum(manifested as decreased change rate of average amplitude,decreased change rate of mean area under the contractile curve,and the reduced frequency) of normal Kunming mice(P < 0.01),while significantly increased the distal colonic motility(manifested as increased amplitude and increased mean area under the contractile curve) of normal Kunming mice(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:MA at specific acupoints[Zusanli(ST 36),Tianshu(ST 25)]has different effects on the motility of jejunum and distal colon,which might involve the segmental innervations of the related nerve.Zhao Yuxue Cui Changxiang Qin Qingguang Ben Hui Gao Junhong Yu Xiaochun Zhu Bing 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,2:5

10A formal model for integrity protection based on DTE technique显示文摘In order to provide integrity protection for the secure operating system to satisfy the structured protection class' requirements, a DTE technique based integrity protection formalization model is proposed after the implications and structures of the integrity policy have been analyzed in detail. This model consists of some basic rules for configuring DTE and a state transition model, which are used to instruct how the domains and types are set, and how security invariants obtained from initial configuration are maintained in the process of system transition respectively. In this model, ten invariants are introduced, especially, some new invariants dealing with information flow are proposed, and their relations with corresponding invariants described in literatures are also discussed. The thirteen transition rules with well-formed atomicity are presented in a well-operational manner. The basic security theorems correspond to these invariants and transition rules are proved. The rationalities for proposing the invariants are further annotated via analyzing the differences between this model and ones described in literatures. 11Practical strategy to construct anti-osteosarcoma bone substitutes by loading cisplatin into 3D-printed titanium alloy implants using a thermosensitive hydrogel显示文摘Surgical resection and perioperative adjuvant chemotherapy-based therapies have improved the prognosis of patients with osteosarcoma;however,intraoperative bone defects,local tumour recurrence,and chemotherapy-induced adverse effects still affect the quality of life of patients.Emerging 3D-printed titanium alloy(Ti6Al4V)implants have advantages over traditional implants in bone repair,including lower elastic modulus,lower stiffness,better bone conduction,more bone in-growth,stronger mechanical interlocking,and lager drug-loading capacity by their inherent porous structure.Here,cisplatin,a clinical first-line anti-osteosarcoma drug,was loaded into Ti6Al4V implants,within a PLGA-PEG-PLGA thermo-sensitive hydrogel,to construct bone substitutes with both anti-osteosarcoma and bone-repair functions.The optimal concentrations of cisplatin(0.8 and 1.6 mg/mL)were first determined in vitro.Thereafter,the anti-tumour effect and biosafety of the cisplatin/hydrogel-loaded implants,as well as their bone-repair potential were evaluated in vivo in tumour-bearing mouse,and bone defect rabbit models,respectively.The loading of cisplatin reduced tumour volume by more than two-thirds(from 641.1 to 201.4 mm3)with negligible organ damage,achieving better anti-tumour effects while avoiding the adverse effects of systemic cisplatin delivery.Although bone repair was hindered by cisplatin loading at 4 weeks,no difference was observed at 8 weeks in the context of implants with versus without cisplatin,indicating acceptable long-term stability of all implants(with 8.48%-10.04%bone in-growth and 16.94%-20.53%osseointegration).Overall,cisplatin/hydrogel-loaded 3D-printed Ti6Al4V implants are safe and effective for treating osteosarcoma-caused bone defects,and should be considered for clinical use.Zehao Jing Renhua Ni Jiedong Wang Xinhong Lin Daoyang Fan Qingguang Wei Teng Zhang Yufeng Zheng Hong Cai Zhongjun Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:3
12Surface treatment of 3D printed porous Ti6Al4V implants by ultraviolet photofunctionalization for improved osseointegration显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D)-printed porous Ti6Al4V implants play an important role in the reconstruction of bone defects.However,its osseointegration capacity needs to be further improved,and related methods are inadequate,especially lacking customized surface treatment technology.Consequently,we aimed to design an omnidirectional radiator based on ultraviolet(UV)photofunctionalization for the surface treatment of 3D-printed porous Ti6Al4V implants,and studied its osseointegration promotion effects in vitro and in vivo,while elucidating related mechanisms.Following UV treatment,the porous Ti6Al4V scaffolds exhibited significantly improved hydrophilicity,cytocompatibility,and alkaline phosphatase activity,while preserving their original mechanical properties.The increased osteointegration strength was further proven using a rabbit condyle defect model in vivo,in which UV treatment exhibited a high efficiency in the osteointegration enhancement of porous Ti6Al4V scaffolds by increasing bone ingrowth(BI),the bone-implant contact ratio(BICR),and the mineralized/osteoid bone ratio.The advantages of UV treatment for 3D-printed porous Ti6Al4V implants using the omnidirectional radiator in the study were as follows:1)it can significantly improve the osseointegration capacity of porous titanium implants despite the blocking out of UV rays by the porous structure;2)it can evenly treat the surface of porous implants while preserving their original topography or other morphological features;and 3)it is an easy-to-operate low-cost process,making it worthy of wide clinical application.Chuan Yin Teng Zhang Qingguang Wei Hong Cai Yan Cheng Yun Tian Huijie Leng Caimei Wang Shiqing Feng Zhongjun Liu 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,1:2
13Strongly coupled Te-SnS_(2)/MXene superstructure with self-autoadjustable function for fast and stable potassium ion storage显示文摘Potassium-ion batteries(PIBs)are a promising candidate for next-generation electric energy storage applications because of the abundance and low cost of potassium.However,the development of PIBs is limited by sluggish kinetics and huge volume expansion of anodes,leading to poor rate capability and cycling stability.Herein,an advanced superstructure anode,including Te-doped SnS_(2) nanosheets uniformly anchored on MXene surface(Te-SnS_(2)/MXene),is rationally designed for the first time to boost K^(+)storage performance.Featuring with strong interface interaction and self-autoadjustable interlayer spacings,the Te-SnS_(2)/MXene can efficiently accelerate electron/ion transfer,accommodate volume expansion,inhibit crack formation,and improve pseudocapacitive contribution during cycling.Thus,the novel Te-SnS_(2)/MXene anode delivers a high reversible capacity(343.2 mAh g^(-1) after 50 cycles at0.2 A g^(-1)),outstanding rate capability(186.4 mAh g^(-1) at 20 A g^(-1)),long cycle stability(165.8 mAh g^(-1)after 5000 cycles at 10 A g^(-1) with a low electrode swelling rate of only 15.4%),and reliable operation in flexible full battery.The present Te-SnS_(2)/MXene becomes among the best transition metal-based anode materials for PIBs reported to date.Hongyang Sun Yelong Zhang Xiaodan Xu Jianwen Zhou Fan Yang Hao Li Hao Chen Yucheng Chen Zheng Liu Zhenping Qiu Da Wang Lipo Ma Jiawei Wang Qingguang Zeng Zhangquan Peng 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,10:2
14Effect of Taijiquan practice versus wellness education on knee pro-prioception in patients with knee osteoarthritis:a randomized con-trolled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To determine the effects of Taijiquan practice on knee proprioception in patients with knee osteoarthritis(OA).METHODS: We conducted a randomized controlled trial comparing Taijiquan with a control condition(wellness education) in patients with knee OA. The patients participated in either a 60-min Taijiquan session three times weekly or a 60-min weekly educational session, for 24 consecutive weeks. The primary outcomes were changes in knee proprioception. Secondary outcomes were changes in the Western Ontario and Mc Master University Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC).RESULTS: After 24 weeks, compared with the control group, the Taijiquan group demonstrated better improvements in the joint position sense in knee flexion(left:-2.12°; right:-2.02°), and knee extension(left:-2.22°; right:-1.54°). In addition,the Taijiquan group showed significantly greater improvements in the WOMAC scores(P < 0.05) for knee pain(left:-3.17 points; right:-3.74 points),stiffness(left:-2.43 points; right:-2.13 points),and physical function(left:-10.99 points; right:-8.00 points), compared with the control group.CONCLUSION: A 24-week Taijiquan practice resulted in a significant improvement in knee proprioception in patients with knee OA. 16Review of controlled clinical trials on acupuncture versus sham acupuncture in Germany显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To examine German controlled clinical trials on the therapeutic effects of acupuncture vs sham acupuncture, and to find whether there are problems with the conclusion that sham acupuncture has no significant deviation from acupuncture. METHODS: We focused on literature from the last ten years (2002-2011) included in PubMed about controlled clinical trials on acupuncture vs sham acupuncture carried out in Germany. The methods applied in sham acupuncture are summarized, and the difference between the acupuncture and sham groups were analyzed. We measured effects based on the following criteria: acupuncture is effective and superior to sham, acupuncture is effective but similar to sham, both of them have uncertainty regarding treatment effect, or no significant effect. Finally, we reviewed the hypotheses of different scholars on sham acupuncture and analyzed their results.RESULTS: Four types of controlled clinical trials including sham acupuncture on non-Traditional Chinese Medicine acupoints, minimal acupuncture on non-acupoints, placebo needle and sham laser acupuncture had varying results in the 57 articles analyzed. Some showed that acupuncture had a better effect than sham, while some suggest acupuncture and sham had similar effects. In all studies using sham acupuncture on non-therapeutic points, sham electrodes, and sham electro-acupuncture, the therapeutic effect was better than sham. Of the trials, 37 demonstrated that acupuncture had a better effect than sham acupuncture. Only nine trials found no significant difference between acupuncture and sham. Two controlled trials for the same condition (neck pain) conducted by two different German research institutes used the same control method, but reached contradictory conclusions. CONCLUSION: We found problems in conclusions based on results of controlled clinical trials of sham acupuncture in Germany. Therefore, there is still not enough evidence to support the statements that 'acupuncture and sham acupuncture have no difference in treatment effect' and 'acupuncture is just a placebo effect.' The control methods of sham acupuncture used in Germany may not be standardized and may not be suitable for acupuncture clinical trial research. 19Effectiveness of Liu-zi-jue exercise on coronavirus disease 2019 in the patients: a randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of Liu-zi-jue exercise on the respiratory symptoms, quality of life, and mental health of patients with mild coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19). METHODS: A single-center randomized controlled trial was conducted with 104 patients with mild COVID-19. The patients were randomly assigned to the Liu-zi-jue plus conventional therapy group and conventional therapy group. The outcome measures included Modified Borg Dyspnea Scale(MBDS) score, Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9) score, Fatigue Scale-14(FS-14), respiratory symptoms, and vital signs. Data were collected on the first and sixth days of hospitalization and on the discharge day. RESULTS: Repeated-measures ANOVA revealed that the whole scales all showed a downward trend in the two groups(all P < 0.05). The results of single-group effect suggested that the whole scale score in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group at the sixth day of hospitalization. Compared with the control group, only the MBDS, expectoration, and FS-14 scores showed significantly lower scores at the discharge day(P < 0.001, P = 0.011, P = 0.002). Comparison within the group showed that all the variables were significantly different at the three time points with a decreasing trend(P < 0.05), except for the PHQ-9 and expectoration scores(P = 0.331, 0.052). All patients’ vital signs remained within a stable normal range throughout the hospital stay.
